I am writing to formally request an investigation into a serious safety defect affecting my 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio . I believe this issue is part of a broader pattern of manufacturing and design flaws that have compromised both safety and reliability •My vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure, resulting in a total repair estimate of approximately $32,000. This failure occurred
... without prior warning signs and is highly unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage. Based on public recall data for the 2020 Stelvio, the following safety recalls may be related to my vehicle’s failure: •21V878 (Nov 2021): Fuel line sensor housing crack—potential for fuel leak, engine stall, or fire risk. •23V382 (May 2023): Cracks in carbon-ceramic brake rotors—risk of fracture under stress. •24V943 (Dec 2024): Loose connection between brake pedal and booster—risk of loss of braking effectiveness. •24V510 (Jul 2024): Faulty seatbelt buckle sensor—could prevent proper airbag deployment. These defects raise questions about the integrity and safety of critical vehicle systems. I request that my vehicle be evaluated for recall applicability and, if eligible, covered under required repair programs •The failure rendered my vehicle inoperable, imposing an immense financial burden due to the exorbitant repair cost. •I believe this is not an isolated incident but indicative of a systemic defect. •If unresolved, this poses ongoing safety risks to me, my passengers, and other road users. I respectfully request that the NHTSA: 1.Initiate an investigation into whether this engine failure is representative of a larger safety defect across the 2020 Stelvio vehicle population. 2.Review the applicability of relevant recalls (listed above) to my VIN. 3.Require Alfa Romeo to provide recall remedies, reimbursement, or a goodwill resolution where appropriate. 4. Issue a technical directive (TSB or recall) if a broader manufacturing defect is identified. Thank youRead more

On July 31st, I was driving my 2020 F-250 in town, traveling approximately six miles from one location to another. Upon arriving at my destination, I noticed smoke coming from under the engine bay. When I opened the hood, I discovered diesel fuel had leaked throughout the engine compartment. I immediately contacted my local dealership and brought the truck in for inspection. I was informed that t

Fortunately, this did not occur while I was driving a longer distance, which could have put me and my family at serious risk. I’m raising this concern in hopes of further investigation and a resolution, given the potential safety implications.Read more

While driving the car to work the instrument cluster LCD display began to glitch showing garbled information on the fuel as well as effecting the speedometer reading. Having inaccurate speedometer reading due to a faulty instrument cluster can put others at risk due to not knowing your exact speed. There were no indications of a problem prior to this incident. Upon discussion with several HRV o
... wners and forums this issue is likely caused by cracked solder joints on the board for the instrument cluster. The leadfree solder used appears to fail causing connection issues for the pins on the board and erratic read outs and displays. I plan to have the dealer look at the vehicle shortly. This problem is known and reported prolifically on discussion boards. Honda has released several service notices internally related to this issue for CRVs and Civics, but no recalls and not for HRVs.Read more

Bought Car in 2022 when COVID was still a problem. I had problems with the LED screen on the dash turning off. It did come back after about 10-15 minutes. I was told that there was no way they could order a $6,000 part if they could not reproduce the problem. I still have had this problem peri

My check engine light has gone off many time in the 3 yrs and 7 months of me owning the vehicle. I am asked if the light is blinking when this occurs. If I said 'no', I was told 'then you don't have to worry'. I had my car in to evaluate the engine light on, and was told not to worry that no code showed up (I did not get a service record if they didn't find any thing, despite me asking). The very next day I was stranded on a busy Hwy. My car was towed to the shop. I barely got off the Hwy as one of my fuel injectors was bad. I was 45 min from my home and the check engine light went on. I started driving home and called the service dept. I was told that as long as the light was not blinking, it would be ok, and I tomorrow I should call for an appt if it is still on. My car started to act up when I was nearing my home, but it was drivable. The next morning the light was still on. I did not feel safe driving it around and felt it was another fuel injector. I was driving my car to the shop and the car was slowing down a little at a time. By the time I was about 1/2 mile from the shop, my car was only going 14 miles per hour. I was driving on the side of the hwy with my flashing lights on. Very unsafe. I know that I have a lemon for a car, but not taken seriously, that is a PROBLEM. While accelerating from a complete stop at a red light, immediately after refueling, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion power and forced itself into Neutral without any driver input. ... Stability Assist (VSA) Problem The engine won't start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an active intersection. I attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times with no success. Police responded to the scene, confirmed the vehicle could not be driven, and a tow truck transported it to a nearby Honda dealership. The tow truck driver suspected an alternator failure, but the dealer’s inspection the next day could not reproduce the issue. They reported that the alternator and battery “tested fine” and that no trouble codes were stored in the ECU. No repairs were performed, and no cause was identified. Safety Concern: This incident created an immediate traffic hazard. The vehicle’s sudden loss of propulsion in traffic, combined with the inability to restart, could easily have caused a collision. Multiple critical systems were reported as failed simultaneously, indicating a possible electrical, fuel system, or control module failure. I am aware of similar complaints from other 2018–2019 Honda Odyssey owners in which sudden power loss occurred, often accompanied by numerous system fault messages. Many reports link these events to fuel pump failures, loose battery/ground connections, or transmission control malfunctions. This suggests a broader pattern of intermittent safety-related defects. I continued to repeatedly push the brake pedal down to no avail. I was steering and tried to navigate my way through 4 lanes of moving traffic because they had a green light. I hit the front end of a car, which didn't slow my car at all. I went on to hit another car's front end, which didn't slow my car at all either. My car then charged out of control to hit the curb on the opposite side of the street facing traffic. Hitting the curb stopped my car finally. I am submitting this formal safety complaint regarding my 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle has 101,900 miles and has been well maintained. Recently, it began experiencing severe performance issues, including difficulty accelerating and consuming oil at an abnormal rate. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed catalytic converter with an estimated repair cost of over $8,000. While Hyundai
... has an active recall on the engine for this model year, they have stated that my specific problem is not covered, despite the fact that the catalytic converter failure appears to be directly related to the engine defect. The oil consumption and acceleration issues raise serious safety concerns, as the vehicle can lose power unexpectedly while driving. I am a teacher, a parent, and have one child with special needs. I have no other form of transportation and am still making payments on a car I cannot safely drive. Hyundai’s refusal to address this issue as part of the known recall leaves me with an unsafe and inoperable vehicle through no fault of my own. I believe this matter warrants further investigation by the NHTSA, as it suggests that related component failures stemming from the defective engine are not being adequately addressed, leaving owners at financial and safety risk. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate whether Hyundai is failing to address a known defect’s full scope and to take appropriate action to ensure the safety and fair treatment of affected consumers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

While operating my 2025 Lexus RZ 300e at normal road speeds, the vehicle experienced a sudden and dangerous propulsion loss when the traction battery reached 0% state of charge. The only advance notice was a single soft audible alert. There were no escalating warnings (visual or audible) and no meaningful low-battery reserve to allow the driver to safely exit traffic or reach a charging location.
... Within seconds of the single alert, the vehicle entered reduced-power “limp mode,” creating an immediate traffic hazard. This abrupt reduction in speed occurred in active traffic among large trucks, putting my safety and the safety of other road users at serious risk. The lack of progressive alerts and absence of a usable reserve buffer prevented any safe corrective action and increased the risk of a collision or injury. Lexus marketing materials, sales claims, and the owner’s manual indicate that the RZ’s battery management system provides intelligent, progressive warnings and adequate reserve energy to prevent drivers from being stranded. My vehicle did not perform in accordance with these stated safety features. This represents a potential defect in the warning system and energy reserve calibration. The vehicle is currently in the custody of the authorized dealership. I requested that the service department attempt to recreate the incident to determine whether the system functions as designed. They refused, citing an open claim with Lexus corporate. Lexus corporate closed my initial claim without investigation six days after it was filed and has not inspected the vehicle. This failure mode—no escalating alerts, no sufficient reserve, and sudden loss of propulsion—is a clear safety concern that should be investigated for possible noncompliance with FMVSS requirements for driver warnings and vehicle control.Read more

Once power was shut down, could not operate windows or lock doors other than keyed driver's door. Th entire failure mechanism puts the driver in an extremely unsafe situation. Recall notice #21V739000 was issued on 9/23/21 with to impacted notified owners on 10/14/21. Did not receive this notification since first failure was prior to recall and assume GM considered vehicle repair completed. Note that the fuel module part number has changed 3 times in my case, but Part # 3554821 replaces 5 other listed part numbers. Is this the 6th iteration or of this part? What is the root cause of the fuel module failure? Is it the module itself failing or an electrical issue that causes the fuel module to short out and fail. GM/Chevrolet is not solving this issue. With 3 failures of the same component, this is a lemon and I have no comfort or confidence using this vehicle. When will the next failure occur and what unsafe situation will this leave me stranded in? Read this issue applied to 2021 and 2022 GM full size SUV's and now reading issues through the 2024's. Unacceptable and poor quality. GM needs to be held accountable to solve the root cause of these failures and stop putting a replacement band aid on the problem.Read more

This has been an on-going problem since the beginning of the year. For at least the past 7000 miles of driving, my 2019 Honda Pilot has been juttering (Honda Mechanic's Term-not mine). Pursuant to a Honda Technical Service Bulletin on this issue, I paid $1967.06 to change the fuel injectors and spark plugs in the vehicle. This did NOT resolve the problem. Anthony Hart, Customer Complaint Mana
... ger from Honda Headquarters in Torrance, CA, told me I had to take the vehicle to the local Honda Service Department and pay the $106.99 it charged for an analysis and recommendation for the repair. I did that. The mechanic acknowledged the problem and suggested to flush the transmission fluid and to perform a throttle body service with re-learn at a cost of $901.08. This appeared to be more of an "upcharge for service" rather than a resolution for the repair. Also, I was dealing with Anthony who insisted upon the evaluation in order for him to authorize some compensation for such. Therefore, I declined the service pending Anthony's response. Each time I get to speak with Mr. Hart, it is almost as if I am a first time contact. I have to reiterate that I am now into the repairs to this vehicle in the amount of $2074.05 with an additional suggested item of $901.08. The costs would therefore total $2975.13 WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE ISSUE WILL BE RESOLVED! It is unconscionable that Honda recognizes the issue being so common in my car that it has issued a Technical Service Bulletin; however, the suggested repair DOES NOT WORK. Honda has not issued a recall on this issue; nor has it apparently been willing to reimburse me for the repairs thus far. We are afraid to take the vehicle on long trips for fear of being stranded somewhere.Read more

I pulled off the main road into the Walmart parking lot. When I did, the vehicle shut off, no power and steering was very hard. I was able to steer into a space and safely park. Vehicle was towed to Victory Kia in Victoria. Service dept said there was no oil at at all in the vehicle. Vehicle was recently taken in for the Kia engine recall about 3 months ago. Was told I needed an software update an
... d oil change to remedy the problem. I got a full synthetic oil change. The vehicle burned all the oil off. No low oil or oil warning light ever came on. Now, Kia wants me to pay for another oil change and diagnostic and drive the vehicle for 1000 miles to see the outcome. Which, if/when the motor dies out again, then I'll be stranded again, hopefully not on a freeway this time. It's crazy I have to be a guinea pig for Kia to see if when the car dies out again, hopefully it don't catch fire this time when all the oil burns out like it did last timeRead more

It has been several months since recall on L87 was issued. My truck now has over 44k miles and I’ve contacted the dealer, they note there’s no fix in sight. I’ve been having some issues with engine sluggishness on acceleration at times and I’m concerned this is related to the recall. I’m now stuck with this potentially dangerous vehicle with no fix, and am concerned. I also can’t g

On 7/18/25 I picked up F-150 from being repaired (failed Belt Drive Generator/Starter Tensioner). About 3 hours later I was driving up a long grade at about 5,000 feet when I stopped to check on my cargo (a bicycle). At this point I noticed the cooling fans were running increasingly fast, much faster then they had ever run before. I checked the digital temperature gauge and it showed a normal tem
... perature. I opened the hood and saw there was no coolant in the overflow bottle. I assumed the truck was just a bit low on coolant and I had some (5 liters) water with me so I added that to the overflow bottle. Very little water was visible in the overflow bottle. I replaced the cap, turned off the A/C and immediately headed back to the dealer. At no point did the check engine light come on. At no point did the temperature gauge move from the "normal" area. At no point did any warning message of any time appear on the driver display - unless it occured when I was refilling the overflow bottle. The engine was not operating normally however, the gas engine stayed on at all times and did not cycle on and off as it normally would do (truck is a hybrid). When I arrived at the dealer they attempted to fill the coolant system and said it was completely empty - no sign of the 5 liters of water I put into the system. The cause of the leak was identified as the EGHR system, specifically the plastic coolant inlet port. This failure is discussed in Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 24N04 - attached. This failure should not have occured. But when it DID occur the vehcile should have warned the driver that a serious overheating event was occuring. No MIL was set. No driver warners were made and the temperature gauge remained in the normal range at all times. The ONLY way I because aware of the problem was by noticing the increasing speed of the cooling fans. This could lead to fire, or unexpected engine failure or burns from overheated radiator.Read more
