To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the safety and reliability of my leased vehicle. I have been experiencing ongoing issues that pose a serious safety risk. Approximately two months into my lease, I began experiencing electrical problems with the vehicle. The most concerning issue is the car's tendency to shut down unexpectedly while driving, which has es
... calated over time. Each incident has resulted in significant concern for my safety and that of my passengers, as well as for other drivers on the road. I visited the dealership to report the problem and get the car serviced but I was unfortunately met with unprofessional behavior, and was asked to leave the dealership without resolution. Despite my repeated attempts to address the ongoing issues, I have been unable to find a suitable solution. Additionally, the lack of available loaner vehicles has made it increasingly difficult to have the vehicle serviced. Driving a vehicle that is prone to unexpected shutdowns is not only inconvenient but poses a significant safety hazard. I am deeply concerned that continued use of this vehicle may lead to an accident, endangering myself, my family, and others on the road. Given the seriousness of these safety issues, I am formally requesting an investigation into these matters. I believe it is essential for this situation to be addressed promptly to ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent accidents and protect consumers. Please let me know if further information is required to support my complaint. I appreciate your attention to this serious matter and look forward to your prompt response. I purchased a brand-new 2025 Volkswagen Jetta from LaFontaine Volkswagen of Dearborn, MI on October 2, 2025. Within 24 hours, the check-engine light illuminated, and the fuel gauge cluster froze, showing an incorrect fuel level. On October 3, 2025, I contacted the dealership and was told to bring it in for service. The service department confirmed a faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM) and op
... ened a repair order. Before the repair could be completed, the vehicle became inoperable and would not engage Drive, leaving me stranded in my driveway. The car had less than 350 miles on it at the time of failure. This incident is extremely concerning for a brand-new vehicle and raises questions about potential safety and manufacturing defects in the 2025 Jetta model line. A new car’s transmission should not fail within days of delivery. I have filed related complaints with the Michigan Attorney General and Better Business Bureau regarding the dealership’s handling of the issue and lack of transparency. Please investigate potential defects in the transmission control system and electrical fuel cluster of 2025 Volkswagen Jetta vehicles to prevent similar failures from occurring with other consumers.Read more

I am reporting a severe safety defect involving the engine and fuel injector system that began two months ago at ≈108k miles (now 109k miles). I have not yet taken the vehicle in for service due to the estimated high repair cost of $2,900. It is critical to note that the same underlying problem was subject to a safety recall for the 2017-2018 model years, but the defect was not fixed for my 201
... 9 model year. This indicates a persistent manufacturing or design flaw that warrants an immediate investigation into my model year. The defect manifests regularly, causing a Cylinder 2 Misfire (P0302) and making the engine run very rough with a sudden and severe loss of power. This creates a direct rear-end crash risk due to the inability to maintain a safe operating speed. More dangerously, when the misfire occurs, the vehicle instantly disables critical driver assistance systems—Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Assist (LKAS)—without any advanced warning. This malfunction is an unreasonable safety risk: CRASH HAZARD: The unprompted power loss and concurrent disabling of safety features create an immediate, dangerous situation. FIRE HAZARD: The persistent misfire strongly suggests a failed or stuck-open fuel injector, which causes fuel dilution of the engine oil. This contamination can lead to engine failure or, critically, a fuel leak onto hot engine components that poses an extreme fire risk. I urge NHTSA to investigate why this defect persists and to mandate a comprehensive recall to protect the public from this ongoing, life-threatening safety risk. The failed component may be available for inspection upon request.Read more

There is a strong smell of gas in the passenger compartment and a very strong smell of gas gas on the drivers side near the rear tire. I've been dealing with a frustrating car issue lately where my vehicle keeps stalling and hesitating during acceleration - whether I'm pulling away from a stop or trying to pick up speed on the road. After getting it checked out, my mechanic determined that the high pressure fuel pump control module is the culprit and needs replacement. The problem is, we're stuck waiting for the part because Bui
... ck has it on backorder indefinitely. What's particularly concerning is that GM recently issued a recall for this exact same fuel pump issue on certain models, but somehow my VIN number didn't make the cut. I strongly believe it should have been included, especially considering the safety implications here. When this fuel pump control module fails, it can completely cut off fuel flow to the engine, which creates a serious traffic safety hazard. Nobody wants their car suddenly losing power while merging onto a highway or navigating through an intersection. This isn't just an inconvenience - it's a legitimate safety concern that affects real people on real roads every day.Read more

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country has experienced multiple powertrain and transmission failures beginning shortly after purchase. The issues include violent shifting, hesitation, and stalling, particularly while accelerating or decelerating. These malfunctions create serious safety risks—especially when merging, turning left across traffic, or entering intersections. The truck has

GM service departments confirmed transmission faults but have not successfully resolved the issue despite repeated attempts. The same problems reoccur shortly after each repair. At times, the vehicle has entered “limp mode” unexpectedly while driving, causing a loss of power. On at least one occasion, this occurred while driving on a busy highway, forcing evasive action to avoid a collision. Warning lights such as the “check engine” light and service alerts frequently appear before or during these incidents. To date, the vehicle has been inspected by GM-certified technicians at authorized dealerships. A case has been opened with GM customer care and BBB AUTO LINE arbitration has been initiated. I am not sure if it is safe to drive my truck and I need to relocate soon. What options do I have? Can anything be done about this? From what I am reading online, this is a $10,000 - $15,000 to fix, let alone the thousands of dollars I have already spent on varying part replacements. Nissan/Cummins designed this truck to work with the fuel being sold in Europe. The fuel in the US does not offer the lubrication required to function properly and it’s causing friction on metal which is sending metal shavings in through the fuel system. The fuel filters cannot handle the debris. The only warning signs I received from the vehicle was a dash warning stating low power / no power mode had been engaged as I lost power and had to roll to a stop on the side of the road. Thankfully I was able to get over to safety each time. Then, I stayed stranded on the side of the road (single female traveling alone with dogs) until I was able to figure things out. Incident date: May 2, 2025
My 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Limited (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced sudden loss of power while driving on 9/11/2025 and set code P228C. The dealership diagnosed the problem as the bolts coming loose from the high-pressure fuel pump, which caused the pump to detach from the cylinder head and become damaged, requiring replacement. This failure directly matches the defect described in NHTSA Recall 18V-358 (G
... M Campaign 18188/18268). That recall explains that the high-pressure fuel pump can detach from its mounting due to a weld failure, leading to oscillation, damage to the fuel system, and an increased risk of fire. Although the dealer phrased it as “bolts came loose,” the result is identical: the pump detached from the cylinder head and damaged the fuel system. Despite this, my VIN does not show an open recall. GM Customer Assistance told me the repair would not be covered because of the vehicle’s age and mileage (current mileage 129264), even though recalls are federal safety obligations that are not limited by warranty coverage. I am requesting that NHTSA review this exclusion and ensure Recall 18V-358 coverage applies to my vehicle. This defect creates a serious safety risk of fuel leaks and fire. I’ve consistently had a coolant leak with my engine water pump. Constantly have to refill the coolant. The reason I’m making this complaint is because yesterday October 1, 2025 I filled up my coolant and I drove a few miles to the grocery store and my coolant was empty and I got a coolant, low warning light and the coolant pump was completely empty. This is becoming very expensive and should n

On going fuel system issues that pose significant safety risks, suggest potential design or manufacturing flaws, and are impacting vehicle performance. The primary component affected is the fuel injection system. I have had to replace the fuel leak detection pump, spark plugs, and ignition coils multiple times, as fault codes have repeatedly appeared even after repairs, indicating a persistent fai
... lure within the fuel injection system. Additionally, I believe that the use and recommendations regarding fuel grades are contributing to the problem. I was informed by a Volkswagen employee that I should have been using 93 octane fuel; however, I was never provided with this guidance at the time of purchase. The vehicle’s fuel tank clearly indicates the use of 87 octane fuel. This discrepancy raises concerns about whether consumers are adequately informed about the proper fuel to prevent issues. The lack of clear guidance on fuel grade requirements appears misleading and could be viewed as potentially deceptive. My vehicle has begun riding rough and shaking while driving. I have been informed that I now need a decarbonization (decarb) engine intake service and a fuel injection service to address these new symptoms. These issues further indicate that there may be underlying problems within the fuel and intake systems, possibly related to the ongoing deposit buildup and improper fuel use. The failed fuel leak detection pump, affected fuel system components, and the recent service needs are available for inspection and can be provided upon request.
The malfunction of the fuel injection system and the fuel leak detection system substantially engine failure while driving which could endanger the driver, passengers, and others on the road. The issues manifested as the vehicle would jerk later my engine light came on, prompting me to seek repairs. It has not yet been formally inspected by the police, or insurance representatives, the mechanic’s diagnosis confirms the malfunction.Read more

Since April I have been having the same issue. Sometimes when I am stopped and the autostop is supposed to shut down the engine, the engine just sputters and if I hit the gas nothing happens. I have to put the car in park and shut it down then restart it. I try to shut the auto stop off when I get in the car but sometimes I forget. It has happened at over 20 times that I have documented over the l
... ast couple of thousand miles, many times in dangerous locations, in the middle of interactions or waiting for a light. The engine light has also gone on and off over the last couple of months. The car is now at the dealership and they say the high pressure fuel pump is leaking. I see there has been a recall in specific Kia Stingers, should my car be involved in this recall? The issue began around 45000 miles and continues at 52000.Read more

I had tuned up my sprinter van around 64000 miles. I put new ngk spark plugs and ignition coils on it. Ran for a day then. The codes said the number one ignition coil was bad. Change that out and it ran for about 8000 miles. Then stated to go in lymph mode again. I decided to replace them with original Mercedes spark plugs and Ignition coils. But when I put them in the van had no power and was jer
... king. It was doing this before I changed them out. It had no power and would barely go up a hill. I researched and seen certain Merecedes Sprinter vans from 2021 to 2023. Had a recall on the fuel pump. But I don't understand why my van wasn't included. It's showing all the systems them the fuel pump or something to do with the fuel pump is going bad. I changed the spark plugs and ignition coils twice in less than 3 months.Read more

Fuel injectors failed at less than 3,000 miles. Two fuel injectors failed, per Honda service department, and it never recorded or served any error codes when they checked the history. It also did not display any dashboard warnings. I only knew there was an issue from heavy transition between gas and EV mode, and there was a strong burning odor in the cabin.
