The integrated LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) strip within the passenger-side headlight assembly failed prematurely at 79,136 miles and remains available for inspection on the vehicle. This failure directly compromises road safety by reducing the vehicle's visibility to oncoming traffic during dawn, dusk, and inclement weather, increasing the risk of a head-on or intersection collision. While I h
... ave not yet obtained a formal dealership estimate, this is a known non-serviceable component that typically requires a full headlight assembly replacement costing upwards of $1,500 to $2,000. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms like flickering occurred prior to the total failure. As this is a factory-installed safety component designed to last the life of the vehicle, its sudden failure suggests a widespread manufacturing defect in the LED circuitry. Out daughter used the car to go eat with a friend at a restaurant and noticed the light out when she unlocked the car.Read more

The turn signal flasher sound is so low that it is practically inaudible while driving and sometimes left on without notice. This confuses the cars from behind. Even worse, it confuses cars at the opposite direction in city driving. I have had a couple of incidents at busy intersection that the opposite direction car drivers thought I want to make a left turn but really not. The situation is get

Some good drivers would slow down but some aggressive drivers would speed up and pass at very high speed. One would ask the turn signal lights should be flashing. Yes, it is but its position are at the top corners on the dashboard and blocked by the steering wheel. Most of the time I would stay focused on the road rather than looking at the dashboard. I had complained this to the Mercedes dealer at Princeton NJ as well as Mercedes itself in NJ but they said that it is designed as is and the volume of the turn signal cannot be adjusted.Read more

Problem Description: The low beam on the passenger side headlight has completely stopped working. Daytime running lights (DRLs) and high beams continue to function normally on the affected side. There are no dashboard warning lights other than the expected “check low beam” message. The vehicle was taken to Valley Imports Porsche in Fargo, ND, on 4/10/2026, where they diagnosed an internal fai
... lure of the integrated LED module in the sealed headlight assembly. They quoted approximately $5,000 for a full headlight replacement (no individual bulb or module repair is possible). This is a known recurring issue on 2019–2021 Porsche Macan models. Driving at night without functional low beams creates a significant safety hazard, as high beams alone are not a legal or safe substitute for normal low-beam illumination. Low beams are required under federal motor vehicle safety standards for safe roadway visibility. The failure occurred despite good overall service history. I request that NHTSA review this as a potential safety defect in the headlight system for these model years.Read more

While driving, the vehicle experiences intermittent electrical malfunctions affecting multiple systems. The dashboard lights flicker, become extremely bright, and at times go out completely. The central display (including Apple CarPlay) also shuts off e

These failures occur while the vehicle is in motion and create a safety risk due to loss of system visibility, inability to control vehicle functions, and unexpected vehicle behavior. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent repair shop due to these issues, where I was informed of Recall 97GF (wiring harness issue), which is associated with the same electrical failures. The vehicle was then taken to a dealership for recall service. The dealership retained the vehicle for approximately one week and advised that the repair resolved the issue. The vehicle operated normally for approximately three weeks following the repair. However, on or about [XXX], the same electrical issues reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealership on February 20th, where it remained in service for over 45 days. Despite multiple repair attempts and extended time in service, the issue was not resolved and continues to occur. The manufacturer reviewed the situation and stated that the recall procedure had been completed and the condition was no longer considered related to the recall. My 2023 Mazda CX-5 (48,000 miles) is experiencing a loud mechanical whirring/grinding from the driver-side headlight assembly, a documented manufacturing defect involving foreign matter contamination of the internal LED cooling fan bearings (TSB 09-029/25). Despite the manufacturer acknowledging this factory-installed defect, Mazda has refused to proactively remedy the issue because the vehicle is
... nominally past its 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper period. I have been explicitly advised by service personnel to continue operating the vehicle until the headlight unit 'entirely fails' before further assistance may be considered. This 'fail-first' directive is a reckless disregard for public safety; the internal cooling fan exists specifically to prevent the high-intensity LED from overheating. A failure of this fan leads directly to the sudden burnout of the main headlamp while the vehicle is in motion. Mazda is essentially requiring me to drive a vehicle with a known, ticking-clock lighting defect and wait for a total loss of visibility at night before they will address a part that was contaminated during their own production process. This is a critical safety hazard that places myself and other drivers at risk of a collision due to sudden headlamp failure.Read more

Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding my 2022 Nissan Leaf due to repeated and sudden battery failure that has created unsafe driving conditions. Over the past several months, my vehicle has experienced severe and unpredictable battery drain. Even after a full charge (approximately 100 miles indicated), the battery rapidly
... depletes to 20–30 miles or less within a short distance. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has lost charge unexpectedly, leaving me stranded and requiring assistance to safely return home. This issue presents a serious safety concern, as the sudden loss of battery power can occur while driving, increasing the risk of being stranded in unsafe locations or traffic conditions. I took the vehicle to an authorized Nissan service center (Bommarito Nissan), where it remained for several days for diagnosis. During this time, I was informed that the issue was being evaluated and that replacement of several battery modules or possibly the entire battery pack might be required. However, after internal review, the issue was dismissed and attributed solely to “weather conditions,” and no repair or replacement was performed. This explanation is not acceptable, as the same issue has occurred in normal and mild weather conditions. The problem persists and continues to impact the safe operation of the vehicle. Despite multiple requests, I have not received a complete diagnostic report or a clear technical explanation from Nissan. The vehicle remains unreliable and unsafe to operate due to the risk of sudden battery depletion. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter as a potential safety defect related to battery performance and loss of propulsion in an electric vehicle. The issue lies
... with the headlight assembly reflector becoming oxidized in a relatively short period of time. Based on research, the degradation of light emittance takes about 5-6 years to reach a dangerous visibility issue. Owners are not interested in spending $1,600 every ~6 years just to have minimum visibility while driving. This is dangerous. This is serious. This is consistent across all 2013-2015 RDX models. Sadly, my father's 1999 Ford F150 with 250K miles has original headlights which shine about 10 times brighter than this "current day" Acura. I attached a .pdf with comments from a certified Acura technician who also owns one of these vehicles. I own (2) RDX vehicles that my daughters both drive.
