The 2026 Toyota Prius illuminates a road distance on an unlight, rural road of 110 feet on low beam. Parked at the beginning of one white dashed center line, the low beams illuminate two additional white dashed lines. Road lines are a standard 12 ft painted line with a 37 ft interval between lines for a total of 110ft of illuminated road. The average stopping distance of the Toyota Prius trave
... ling at 55mph is ~260 feet. I am able to see less than half the stopping distance of the vehicle. I have hit a deer twice because of the lack of road illumination. Each deer strike was with with two separate 2026 Toyota Prius vehicles. Both vehicles had the same illumination pattern. Fortunately, it was a deer strike, however, imagine for a moment if it were a human walking along the the road or a disabled vehicle. This is a safety concern and does not meet the NHTSA regulation FMVSS N. 108, summarized below. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations under FMVSS No. 108 mandate that low-beam headlights provide sufficient, controlled illumination for night driving while preventing excessive glare, generally aiming to illuminate approximately 200–300 feet ahead. I did complain to Maplewood Toyota about the issue and the Service Team stated they can only adjust the headlight within the Manufacturer's suggested range. This vehicle was purchased as a new, I made an assumption that everything would be properly adjusted coming off the manufacturing floor. Maplewood Toyota did not complete an inspection of the vehicle to determine "as found" headlight aiming prior to the deer strike. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms related to this incident. Jeff Rabinort, Service Manager had a conversation with me following the incident. He did confirm there was a maximum adjustment that they could make to the headlight, but was unclear what that was. I encouraged Jeff to drive a 2026 Toyota Prius on an rural road for confirmation.Read more

Both LED headlights died within two months of each other on this relatively new vehicle. Outside the three year warranty, but only 27,000 miles (well within the 36,000 warranty period). As it's outside of the three years, the warranty already expired regardless of mileage. One headlight was grinding (fan) while the other's low beam simply died. Each headlight cost $2800 to replace. You can't simpl
... y replace a burned out bulb with this headlight design. The entire unit must be replaced at a cost of almost $3000 depending on your dealer. This is a major safety issue when headlights die while driving at night. This is not a user maintenance issue. It is not normal wear and tear. Almost $6000 dollars to replace poorly designed headlights within two months of each other on a new-ish vehicle while being a safety concern constitutes reason enough to issue a recall, and to reimburse owners for previous replacements.Read more

I own a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning that is subject to an active safety recall involving electrical components and exterior lighting (potential water intrusion leading to lighting failure, including rear/reverse lamps). I was notified of the recall around October/2025 and contacted a Ford dealer shortly after. The dealer confirmed the recall is active but stated that no remedy is available. I have
... followed up multiple times with both the dealer and Ford corporate, and as of today, there is still no repair available and no timeline has been provided. This has persisted for approximately 6 months. Ford communicated a fix in Q1 of 2026. This defect affects critical lighting and electrical systems necessary for safe operation and visibility. Operating the vehicle under these conditions presents a safety risk. Despite this, Ford has not provided a repair, interim solution, or clear guidance. Due to the unresolved recall, I have been unable to reasonably use the vehicle. The vehicle is also used for business purposes, resulting in financial loss. I continue to incur a monthly loan obligation of approximately $2,000 while the vehicle remains effectively unusable. Ford has not offered a loaner vehicle, compensation, or alternative remedy. Complaint with Ford CXXX was submitted, with stated return calls, my repeated follow-ups, and no resolution. I am submitting this complaint to document that the manufacturer has issued a safety recall but has failed to provide a timely remedy, leaving the vehicle unusable and creating ongoing safety concerns and financial harm. My driver side headlight assembly stopped working. The headlight assembly includes the driving lights, high beams, and turn signals. I am open to having this product inspected upon request. There were no warning, lamps, messages, other symptoms of the problem prior to failure. The failure first appeared at around 55,000 miles, which was 5000 miles beyond my warranty. I believe that Tesla is pushing out updates that intentionally cause light assemblies and other high priced items to stop working after the warranty. there are multiple instances people replacing the same fixture after their warranty period has expired. Tesla charges $2000 to replace one light fixture. I believe this is fraudulent and corrupt business practices by Tesla.Read more

Brake Light failure from water intrusion with less than 40k miles. Repair Invoice was $845.
Incident date: Apr 16, 2026
On Tuesday, April 14, 2026 I was looking for something in my rear seat and noticed the seat was damp. I couldn't figure out the cause so I goggled it and found out that Toyota had a limited service campaign called LSC21TD03 on my 2017 Tacoma because of the third brake light having a gasket issue causing water to enter the vehicle. I called a local Toyota dealer and was told that the fix for my v
... ehicle had expired in 2025. This water intrusion from the high third brake light can cause mold, interior damage, or electrical issues. This is an issue that Toyota previously acknowledged but has now stopped covering it. I called Toyota Corporate and was again told yes the repair fix was expired. I asked why wasn't I notified and was told that Toyota sent out letters. I told the representative that I never received a letter and was told the mailing was done by an outside company. I asked what could Toyota do to help me and was told to go back to the dealer and maybe they "would give me a discount or reduced price on the fix". The dealer offered nothing. Upon further research I found that several Toyota Tacoma owners state they were not aware of the service campaign and ended up changing the light themselves or paying out of pocket to have it repaired. I feel that this is an issue that Toyota is aware of and they should take care of it. This should have been a recall issue rather than just a service campaign that the public was not fully aware of. I still don't know the extent of damage to my vehicle because the dealer gave me a quote of $690 to repair. I questioned why so much to change a light and gasket and was told they have to take the panels down and clean the vehicle to make sure no mold was there. The quote was given without even examining the vehicle. I'm asking you to please look into this situation.Read more

I am the owner of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) subject to Safety Recall 12B / NHTSA 24V-130, concerning high beam headlamps that fail to respond when the master lighting switch is set to the AUTO position. I contacted Flagship Chrysler to schedule the free recall repair. The dealer refused to perform the service, claiming my vehicle does not qualify because it lacks the Auto High Beam feature
... (sales code LMS). However, according to the official recall documentation, the recall applies specifically to vehicles WITHOUT the Auto High Beam Headlamps feature (sales code LMS). My vehicle does have the Auto Lights function but does not have Auto High Beam — which is precisely the condition described in the recall scope. The dealer appears to be confusing Auto Lights with Auto High Beam, and is incorrectly excluding my vehicle from a mandatory safety recall. This repair is required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 S9.4, and I am being denied a free remedy I am legally entitled to. I am requesting NHTSA's assistance in ensuring the dealer complies with their legal obligation to perform this recall repair at no charge.Read more

Many modern trucks, SUVs, and cars use LED headlights that are excessively bright and create dangerous glare. When approaching these vehicles from the opposite direction, the headlights can be blinding — similar to having a flashlight shined directly into your eyes — causing temporary loss of visibility. The glare also affects drivers traveling in the same direction, as the intense light refl

This issue is widespread across many vehicle types and appears to be related to the brightness and mounting height of LED headlights, especially on larger vehicles. On Friday, April 11, 2026 I received an alert on my vehicle that there was a possible issue with the driver's side headlamps. It was night time when this happened and I was very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving without proper lighting. The issue has been confirmed by a Genesis Se
... rvice representative stating that this is a very common issue with this particular vehicle. It was relayed that moisture gets in the light assembly and shorts out the ILCU, which kills light functions. I have not had the vehicle inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representative. I feel that this issue, being known to be a common occurrence, should be a recall item and I am requesting a goodwill repair. I purchased this vehicle used and have had it for nine months. It was out of warranty when I purchased it so I purchased an extended warranty but unfortunately for me it does not include lighting. I am an elderly woman on a fixed income and cannot afford an expensive repair like this (approximately $2,500). I've always wanted a GV80 and was so excited when I purchased it. I am reporting a safety issue with my 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of critical lighting systems, including the headlights, brake lights, and turn signals, which have stopped working while driving. The issue began around 42,000 miles and occurred while the vehicle was covered under a Mopar Maximum Care warranty. There have been four repair at

I was also initially told this repair was not covered under warranty, which was later determined to be incorrect. Despite repairs, the issue has persisted. The vehicle also has an open recall with no available remedy. This creates a serious safety concern, as failure of headlights, brake lights, and turn signals increases the risk of an accident. The low beam headlights have degraded over time and are now barely providing any light, making driving at night unsafe. This appears to be due to the degradation of the low beam assembly reflector. During my state inspection it was noted that my high beams were not properly functioning. The garage tested my bulb and said it appeared to be a malfunction of the flap assembly in the headlamps. We checked online for information on how to proceed and noted a recall campaign T5G that was aimed at the exact problem we noted. I called our local Hyundai dealer (Woodall Hyundai; Danville,VA) to schedu
... le for the recall. The scheduler stated that according to their records, they completed this recall in 2/2024. I do remember getting notified by them regarding a recall to which they had my car for a day to complete the necessary work. Myself and my original garage mechanic reviewed the recall directions that stated that this specific recall requires drilling into the headlamp to evaluate the high beam actuator lever. I informed the dealer that I did not see evidence of the completed work. They stated that they would have to have the car back for a diagnostic visit. I took my vehicle in; paid a $150 fee to be told that yes, my high beams are not working properly and would cost about $2000 to repair the headlamp assemblies. I escalated my concerns to corporate Hyundai who followed up with the dealer who insisted that I was responsible for the repair. I took my car to a different independent Hyundai dealer (Capital Hyundai in Greensboro, NC) who confirmed upon inspection that the recall Woodall Hyundai states they completed was never performed. They contacted corporate Hyundai to reopen my recall campaign and are repairing the assemblies. Woodall Hyundai fraudulently charged Hyundai for a repair kit they claim to have used for the T5G recall. They did not complete the job yet stated they did. They lied repeatedly to myself and corporate when investigating. This has delayed my state inspection. This has caused loss of use of my vehicle for the days it has been in these garages. This is also a safety hazard.Read more

I am submitting a vehicle safety complaint regarding a vehicle purchased on March 5, 2026. Within days of purchase, the vehicle exhibited multiple safety-related issues despite reportedly passing a Virginia safety inspection on February 27, 2026. The safety concerns identified include: - Driver-side headlight partially inoperable, which resulted in a traffic stop on March 15, 2026 - Front hood not
... properly secured/latching, creating a risk of opening while driving - No engine oil present upon inspection shortly after purchase - Coolant reservoir completely empty - Check engine light illuminated shortly after purchase Diagnostic testing following the check engine light revealed code P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold). A mechanic advised that this condition is not a new issue and would have developed over time, indicating that it likely existed prior to the sale of the vehicle. At the time of purchase, the vehicle had an outstanding manufacturer safety recall identified as NHTSA Recall No. 23V651000 (Recall #251), dated April 3, 2024. This recall had not been completed prior to sale and was only addressed on March 24, 2026, after I took the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership. Additionally, the vehicle was subject to a manufacturer campaign identified as Campaign #P33, dated December 15, 2025. This further indicates that the vehicle required manufacturer-related service that had not been fully addressed prior to sale. An independent inspection conducted on March 16, 2026 confirmed conditions inconsistent with a vehicle that had recently passed a safety inspection. These issues raise serious concerns about the safety, inspection integrity, and roadworthiness of the vehicle at the time it was sold. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed for potential safety-related concerns and any related violations. I am available to provide supporting documentation, including inspection reports, diagnostic results, service records, and photographic evidence.Read more
