Automatic headlight system causes the vehicle headlights to turn on and off during daylight conditions. The LCD display in the dashboard also dims to the point that the information presented cannot be read. This typically happens on bright, sunny days with a clear sky. Vehicle has been to the dealership in excess of seven times where they've made multiple attempts to repair it. The light sensor be
... hind the windshield has been replaced. The body control module has been replaced. The technician also tried to make modifications to the light sensor, but the problem persists. There are a number of other instances of this exact issue involving Hyundai Tucsons, Santa Fe. and Santa Cruz vehicles shown on the NHTSA site, and also when searching other sites online. Dealer technician has repeatedly documented that the problem exists. Dealer tech reported that the Tech at the Hyundai helpline suggested that the auto headlight feature not be used as a resolution. While not a solution under any conditions, even with auto headlight feature turned to off, the dashboard displays continue to dim during the day. The flashing headlights represent a serious safety issue as when following another vehicle, that driver may misinterpret the flashing headlight problem as an aggressive gesture and trigger a road rage type response. The call taker I spoke with at Hyundai when I opened a customer service case said that he personally had that very issue with another driver due to flashing headlights.Read more

There is apparently a known issue on the WT "Work Truck" trim of the Silverado EV trucks where the factory wiring harness was assembled incorrectly. This prevents the truck from knowing when the rear doors are open vs closed. If only one (or even both) rear doors are open, all the doors may automatically lock (depending on auto-locking settings), potentially locking the driver out of the vehicle.
... As a first responder I immediately recognize this as a significant child safety issue: if a parent were to get out to check on their child in the back seat, finish what they were doing, then close the doors to get back in the front, they could find themselves locked out with their child locked inside. Because this would also mean the truck would be shut down, the climate controls would be turned off when this happens, and could easily result in heat injury or death of a child. This door issue also causes a safety issue as the dome lights do not come on when the rear doors are opened, and a door could potentially be partially or even wide open without the truck alerting the driver. The dash clearly shows and identifies the front driver and front passenger door open indicators, but does not show either of the rear doors. I have not taken my truck into the dealer for correction of this issue yet, but I have confirmed this is an issue with multiple other Silverado EV drivers who have the WT trim (both 3WT and 4WT packages). While I will be working with GM to address the issue on my vehicle, I feel the potential risks of this issue are significant enough that the NHTSA should intervene for all affected vehicles. To save a little time, here is a forum post on the matter. Post #16 has a service description from a Chevrolet tech about this issue on another truck: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

4 or more different trailers some new some old, have been towed by our truck. With all of them the truck gave a warning that the right turn signal was out, when hooked up to a GMC Sierra the taillights all worked fine. When this happens the brake lights go out and the blinker blinks quickly. While using a trailer with its own braking system, the truck gave a fault that the trailer battery was not
... charging and none of the lights worked, causing a huge safety concern when coming to a stop. After turning the truck off and back on it worked fine. We took it to a Ford dealer and was first told it was the trailer, they tried it on 3 trailers the tech had and the blinker issue happened on 2 of the 3. Then they told us our trailers were too old. We refused to take it back without further diagnostics. They performed a BCM update. The next time we hooked up a trailer was this past weekend and the same issue occurred. We are hesitant to bring it back in as we need the vehicle and last time the dealership had it for over 15 days. I Due to the nature of the issues, the problem either lies in the connector, wiring, trailer control module or worse case scenario the body control module. Ironically My husbands job recently bought a ford F550, an employee driving it while pulling a trailer said it did the same thing but with the left blinker. They hooked that trailer to a Chevy truck and all worked fine. This is clearly an issue with Fords Trailering system. What steps should we take to get this fixed. We haul a lot of trailers. The truck has just over 5000 miles on it.Read more

After purchasing this used vehicle from a dealership we began driving home and it got dark. It was then we noticed the headlights on the vehicle are significantly dimmer than other vehicles. I confirmed in the paperwork and online that the vehicle was up to dates on recall work but that this known issue was not part of any as of yet. •Make: Acura •Model: MDX •Year: 2018 •VIN: [XXX] •Mileage: 80,594 (as of March 22, 2025) Complaint Type: Vehicle Component/Recall Reoccurrence Component Affected: Exterior Lighting – Taillights Summary of Problem: I am filing a complaint regarding a recurring safety issue involving my 2018 Acura MDX’s taillight assembly, which was previously the subject of a recall. In 2019, the l
... eft taillight was repaired under a manufacturer recall related to water intrusion that caused lighting failure. On March 22, 2025, during a routine visit to Acura of Boston (Bernardi Acura), it was determined that the same taillight assembly had failed again due to signs of water intrusion, causing the light to malfunction. The dealership estimated a cost of $805.82 for the replacement. I contacted Honda and requested goodwill assistance since this issue was previously addressed as a safety recall, but they denied my request due to warranty expiration—even though this is clearly a recurrence of the original defect. This poses a potential safety hazard, as taillight failure can impair visibility and increase the risk of rear-end collisions, especially in low-light conditions. The fact that the exact issue has returned after an official recall fix raises concerns about the long-term effectiveness of the original repair. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this issue is affecting other 2018 Acura MDX vehicles and whether an extended recall or follow-up campaign should be considered. I purchased a 2020 Ford Ranger truck which had, either a faulty "bulb," or other type of device which caused the driver side tail light to not illuminate. However, I observed the faulty taillight probably a year or so after owning the vehicle. The vehicle is not frequ
... ently driven, as I brought the 2020 Ford Ranger truck new, and it presently as of April 2025 has about 7300 miles on it. When I became aware of the faulty taillight, I went to the local AutoZone store to purchase a replacement bulb, and was informed by a fairly knowledgeable individual that my vehicle did not have a standard "bulb" which could be replaced. I was told the unit which housed the component which caused the lighting to occur was an integrated compounded which had to be totally replaced, at a significant cost. I have not made any attempts to remove the component, and was informed there would be a significant cost to do so. On March 29, 2025 I was pulled over by a local sheriff's office indicating there was a problem with not only the taillight on the driver side not operating, but also problems with operation of my brake lights and other lights in the rear of the truck. I was informed that I should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. I did explain that I had previously made an attempt to get the driver side taillight fixed, but the component, was not available to do so. I then began to research the problem, and found an article was online which was attributed to Consumer Reports entitled "Ford recalls Ranger pickup trucks for taillight problem, automaker says loose electrical connections could lead to a crash" the basis of the November 25, 2019 article stated "Ford is recalling 78,264 of its 2019 Ranger pickup trucks because electrical connector may be loose or not properly installed.
