On three (3) separate occasions, my 2019 VW Tiguan has produced an error stating "Check Starter System" on the console and shut down electrical systems such as instrument panel, brake lights, headlights, taillights, back up camera, and other electrical systems while driving. All three (3) situations followed the same series of events whereas the car was out in the sunlight on warmer days (70+ degr
... ees) and occurred within 5 or so minutes of starting. After shutting the vehicle off and attempting to restart, the ignition will not always work and the car will not turn over. When it does, the key will need to be turned farther than a normal ignition start and most likely produce an immediate error and electrical system shut down. In the most recent occurrence, I found a parking garage and left the car for around an hour and did not experience the issue for the rest of the trip. It appears that there was a recall for a similar issues with the Jetta models made in the same year (2019). Volkswagen Recall: 28H7-Ignition Switch / NHTSA campaign number: 23V604Read more

Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2014 Acura RDX Component: Exterior Lighting – Headlights (Low Beam) Summary of the Problem: My wife drives a 2014 Acura RDX. A few years ago, she mentioned that the low beam headlights seemed unusually dim at night. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but after driving the vehicle myself more recently, I confirmed the issue—the low beams provide very poor visibi
... lity, making night driving hazardous. To address this, I replaced the bulbs with new ones, but it made no noticeable improvement. After researching online, I discovered that many other owners of the 2013–2014 Acura RDX have reported the same issue. It appears this may be a widespread defect with the headlight housing or reflector design, rather than just a bulb issue. I also found articles and forum posts online where some people resolved the issue only by replacing the entire headlight assembly, which is a costly fix. This suggests the problem may lie in a design flaw rather than normal wear and tear. Given the safety implications of limited nighttime visibility, I believe this deserves further investigation.Read more

I was making a right turn and my signal started flashing faster than normal and stated service passenger front turn lamp. There is no way of service without replacing the entire headlight which is $2000.00 for one side. It’s a major safety concern when I have no turn signals on the front which could easily cause a crash. It also is a concern of being pulled over by any law official for something that I can not control and it’s not like I can just go to a local parts store to get a bulb on a weekend due to a poor design by General Motors. Other trucks of the same year with the same headlights that I have are being recalled due to the same issues but since my build date doesn’t fall into that category they do not want to take the responsibility of making things right or help prevent safety incidents from happening that could cause harm their customers and innocent bystandersRead more

What happened: Before the engine began smoking, I experienced several electrical and functional issues. The cigarette lighter socket and USB ports stopped working completely. At one point, the windshield washer fluid system also stopped working and later started functioning again without repair. Additionally, on multiple occasions while at a complete stop with my foot on the brake, the vehicle un
... expectedly shifted into park on its own. This happened about 2–3 times and made it unsafe to accelerate when traffic resumed. Eventually, the engine began emitting smoke during normal use. There were no warning lights or error messages beforehand. This issue appears connected to the current coolant pump recall, but the manufacturer has stated that no remedy is available. Out of concern for my safety and potential risk to others, I have stopped driving the vehicle. Because the issue remains unresolved, the car has become undrivable and is now affecting my ability to work and manage basic transportation needs.Read more

My headlights are so dim, that I’m forced to drive with my high beams at night or not drive at all. I’ve replace the bulbs and there has been no improvement.
Incident date: Mar 15, 2025
(NOT RELATED TO CURRENTLY OPEN HOOD LATCH RECALL) I’m the current owner of a 2013–2018 Nissan Altima, a model range known for a headlight delamination defect. This issue causes the reflective coating inside the headlamp to degrade, severely reducing light output. It’s a major safety risk for drivers, other motorists, and pedestrians—especially at night. A class action lawsuit acknowledge
... d this and led to a limited repair program. However, I—like many others—only discovered the issue after that window had closed. As a second owner, I reached out to Nissan requesting a “goodwill repair,” which they define as a discretionary repair for issues outside normal coverage. Nissan declined. I was told by Erica on the executive team that goodwill repairs are more likely if there’s a history of maintenance at a Nissan dealership. In other words, if the previous owner spent money at a dealership, Nissan would be more willing to repair a known factory defect. This policy is unfair. Routine maintenance should have no bearing on a company’s responsibility to fix a well-documented safety defect. That logic leaves many current owners—who had no control over previous maintenance decisions—without support. Over 1.5 million affected Altimas are still on U.S. roads, many now in the hands of second or third owners. These drivers may be unaware of the issue or unable to afford repairs for something that should never have occurred in the first place. I’m asking Nissan to re-open the repair program or evaluate on a case-by case basis, considering fairness and safety. This could be offered to anyone who purchased the car after the repair window. Until then, I—and many others—are left to drive with dangerously dim headlights, putting ourselves, our passengers, and the general public at unnecessary risk. This is about more than customer service. It’s about corporate responsibility and public safety.Read more

The overhead lights randomly turn on, which is incredibly distracting, especially when driving at night. Additionally, the moonroof has just stopped working. I have reported the problem to the dealer where I purchased the car a couple of months ago (Tim Short Ford of Lafollette); my local dealership (Rusty Wallace Ford Lincoln of Morristown), which also reported that there were two other vehicles currently in the service department for the same issue; and to the Lincoln Concierge. I found many reports online of similar issues with this vehicle and with the confirmed two other vehicles with the same issue at my local dealership, this appears to be a widespread problem. However, after speaking with the Concierge, it is apparent that the company is not acknowledging the issue as no accommodation was offered despite the known similar failures in the same model line.Read more

I am writing to express my concern and disappointment regarding persistent electrical issues with my 2018 Honda CR-V (VIN: [XXX] ). My vehicle has recently experienced multiple warning lights turning on simultaneously, including brake, VSA, and TPMS. After inspection, I was informed that the issue may be related to the battery or sensor systems, even though the vehicle has not experienced any inc
... idents or misuse. I would like to emphasize that this is a well-known issue reported by many 2018 CR-V owners, as evidenced in online forums, service bulletins, and consumer complaints. It is extremely frustrating to be responsible for repair costs for what appears to be a design or manufacturing flaw. Additionally, I visited a local Honda dealership for diagnosis, but I was given no explanation regarding the cause of the problem and was simply asked to pay for service. I found this experience to be highly unprofessional and upsetting, especially considering the seriousness of the issue and my loyalty to the brand. Given the potential safety risks and the common nature of this problem, I respectfully request that Honda consider my case for goodwill repair coverage or reimbursement. I am also aware of an open fuel pump recall (Campaign: 24-007:6FE00) on this vehicle, and would like to confirm that any and all necessary service campaigns are addressed.
