Our Alante's front reading lights and dome light over the bunk quit working. We found a blown fuse, new fuse blows immediately. Repair shop found wires crimped, chafed, some cut clean through by rubbing on fiberglass structure. Problem is a manufacturing defect. The installer routed the wires improperly and the inspector never caught it. These wires were shorting-out behind an enclosed area. In th

My 2020 Dodge Journey has a persistent issue with the passenger-side headlight. Despite multiple bulb replacements, the problem continues, leading to failure of vehicle inspections. Three independent mechanics have examined the vehicle, consistently identifying the problem as originating within the headlight socket or wiring harness, yet no warning light indicates a malfunction. This recurring fai
... lure appears to be a known issue affecting other Dodge Journey models, specifically impacting the passenger-side headlight. While I have experienced no other electrical problems since purchasing the vehicle, Dodge is requesting a $200 diagnostic fee to confirm a suspected wiring harness fault. I respectfully request a resolution to this recurring problem, given its apparent prevalence within the Dodge Journey model range and the lack of any contributing factors on my part.Read more

While driving, the hood prop rod dislodged from its securing clip and fell onto the positive terminal of the battery. This caused an electrical short, which led to the rod heating up rapidly and igniting a fire under the hood. The fire damaged the headlight assembly and the surrounding trim panel, though the wiring fortunately did not catch fire. A nearby police officer was able to extinguish the
... fire before it spread further. This incident posed a serious safety risk and could have resulted in more extensive damage or injury. There were no warning lights or symptoms before the failure. The issue appears to stem from the design or failure of the clip that holds the hood prop rod in place. The vehicle has not been modified and was being driven under normal conditions. A local auto body shop inspected the vehicle afterward and confirmed that the loose prop rod made contact with the battery terminal, creating a serious fire hazard. They advised reporting this as a safety issue. The manufacturer has not yet inspected the vehicle. The incident was witnessed by a police officer, and the damage was evaluated by an independent repair shop following the fire.Read more

Rain water continually collects in both brakelight/taillight assemblies at the rear of the van. This causes the bulbs for the turn signal and brake light to burn out. This has been an issue since we purchased the vehicle in 2016. Initially, we could change the bulb(s) and they would last a while but now the passenger side bulb(s) can be replaced and burn out immediately! We have burned through doz
... ens of bulbs since owning the van. On 6/17/25 I took the van to Valvoline in Circleville, Ohio for an oil change and replacement of the rear passenger turn signal bulb. On inspection he informed me that both brake lights were out as well as the right turn signal. He was able to replace the left brake light after dumping water out of the casing but the right side was so full of water he wouldn't even touch the bulbs because he said it would do no good. He recommended I get new casings/housing assemblies for both sides. In reading about this issue, it appears to be a problem not only for me but for many others. It was noted that several owners had holes drilled in the housing as "drain" holes and that the issue was corrected and/or improved in the later models. I believe this to be a huge safety issue due to the fact that it involves braking and turning and the increased risk of getting hit from behind.Read more

To address my concerns, I spoke with a Mercedes-Benz representative who informed me that, due to the problems I’ve experienced, I may be eligible for either an extended warranty or a credit toward the purchase of a new vehicle. I continued to drive but was distracted by beeping and warning messages but because the dashboard display was constantly switching from daytime to night lighting I could not readily see the dashboard. I tried to m

I made it to the first stop light and while stopped I was able to observe water droplets on the front panel of the interior fuse box. I pulled open the panel and water dropped out onto to floor. I replaced the panel. I continued to drive but was panicked and worried that water was in the fuse panel area. I arrived at my son's school and left the car running as he was dropped off. On the drive home, the beeping continued. This time, I saw the warning message about vehicle in my blind spot but I was on the street corner about to make a right turn and there was no vehicle next to me! The lights also kept switching as before. There was rust observed in the fuse panel area. When I got home, I called the dealership to inform them what happened. They refused to give me a loaner. I told them that water intrusion should not have occurred (we had severe weather and heavy rains the day prior) and now my car was having electrical issues and I was concerned for my safety and the safety of driving my 3 young children in car seats should there be an electrical fire. Day time running lamps on the side of the headlight have burnt out. First time it was the passenger side that died, had it replaced under warranty. then a few month later after my warranty was up, the driver side has now died as well. The dealership wanted $2400.00 to replace it, with what is likely another faulty light that would have the same issue in a few years. This is a hazard to myself and others because my vehicle isn't lit up like it should be so that I am visible to others on the road. Also I have had 4 or 5 water leaks in the brief time of owning this truck that ford has blamed on me. Water gets in and collects on the passenger side floorboard under the carpet. My complaint mirrors NHTSA ID Number: 11619581. I recently upgraded from a BMW X5 to an X7 and noticed significant dark spots on the road, severely reducing visibility in those areas. The headlight casing appears to have a design flaw, creating these dark, nearly invisible patches directly in front of the car. As the vehicle moves, the car’s vertical motion causes these dark spots to shift up an
... d down, which is highly distracting and hinders the driver’s focus. With 25 years of driving experience, I have never encountered headlights that produce such a disruptive effect. When using high beams, the dark spots are lightened but headlights projects a horizontal dark line across the road, further worsening the distraction. BMW offers no adjustment options to mitigate this issue.Read more

The Daytime Running Lights have failed and the entire Head Lamp has to be replaced. 6. The auto techs say this seems to be a BAD SUPPLY CHAIN and the issue should be addressed by Land Rover. This is due to so many Defenders having the same issue. 7. In addition, I was told by every auto company that the passenger side DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT would be going bad anyday because these headlamps are a problem on Defenders. 8. Land Rover has told me I will have to pay around $4,000 and up to $5,000 to have Land Rover replace the entire HEAD LAMP that has failed on many 2021, 2022, and 2023 Defenders. 9. This is WRONG when Land Rover Defenders have so many Daytime Running Lights Head Lamps going out. There is a BAD SUPPLY CHAIN problem I believe just like the auto techs have told me. 10.
