This issue relates to NHTSA Recall 24V344 / VW Recall 919A as the repair for this recall has already been applied to my vehicle. Despite that, while driving, my vehicle experienced a complete electronics shutdown, including loss of the instrument cluster, center display, and rearview camera. This occurred after the recall 919A software update was applied. As such, I believe the safety of my self a

I brought my vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis and they identified fault code U111000 with symptom 7223 but informed me that this was classified “non-customer-relevant” and therefore should be ignored. My low beam headlights have diminished in their effectiveness / intensity over time such that I fear driving at night due to possible danger of an accident. If I do have to drive at night, I have to use my high beams...which is also totally unacceptable, and illegal in post places. I have taken the car to the Acura dealership to explain the problem and determine the proper fix. I felt like this

Tesla vehicles include an “ambient light” feature called Sync with Music. When enabled, the cabin lights pulsate, flash, and change intensity in rhythm with the audio being played. While marketed as a visual enhancement, this mode is extremely distracting when the vehicle is in motion. The constantly strobing and pulsating lights inside the cabin draw the driver’s attention away from the roa
... d, especially during night driving when the effect is brightest. Details of the Issue: •The light pulses are highly dynamic and mimic stage lighting or flashing effects, which compete for the driver’s visual attention. •The distraction is more severe in low-light or nighttime driving conditions, where the contrast between the pulsating interior lights and the dark environment is stark. •The rapid changes in brightness and color can momentarily impair night vision when the driver looks back toward the windshield. •There does not appear to be a safety lockout that prevents the mode from operating while the car is in motion. Safety Concern: This feature increases visual distraction for the driver and may impair safe operation of the motor vehicle. The flashing lights could also pose a potential risk for individuals sensitive to strobe effects or conditions like photosensitive epilepsy. Allowing this mode to run while driving is a safety hazard. Request: NHTSA should investigate whether Tesla’s Sync with Music ambient light feature complies with federal motor vehicle safety standards related to driver distraction and interior illumination, and whether restrictions should be placed on its use when the vehicle is not in “Park.”Read more

On my 2021 Ford F-150, the passenger-side LED daytime running light (DRL) has become noticeably dim compared to the driver’s side. This issue is widely reported by other owners of 2021-23 F-150 trucks. The problem is not electrical. Owners who have disassembled the headlight assemblies have found that the fiber-optic style light tube that distributes the LED’s light becomes heat-damaged over
... time. This burned spot blocks light from passing through the DRL, leaving one side of the vehicle significantly dimmer or out. Safety Concern: DRLs are a safety-critical feature designed to increase vehicle visibility during daytime driving. When one DRL is dim or inoperative, it reduces the truck’s visibility to oncoming drivers and creates an inconsistent lighting pattern that can cause confusion for other road users. This increases the risk of daytime collisions. This is not a cosmetic issue — it directly affects vehicle safety. The failure is common across this model year, but Ford only sells the DRL as part of the entire headlight assembly. The cost of replacement ($800–$1,200 per side) places a heavy burden on owners, especially since the defect appears prematurely and outside warranty coverage. Request: I urge NHTSA to investigate this widespread defect in Ford F-150 headlights. The DRL failure clearly reduces vehicle visibility and poses a safety risk, making it a safety-related defect that warrants further action, including the possibility of a recall or extended coverage. I own a 2016 Kia Forte LX and have been experiencing repeated and dangerous electrical failures with the headlight and lighting system. When I turn on the headlights, they sometimes do not come on at all, or they shut off unexpectedly while driving. In some cases, using the turn signal causes the headlights to cut out completely. The interior dash lights flicker between dim and bright, and the tai
... l lights are also affected. This is a serious safety hazard because it results in sudden and complete loss of exterior lighting (headlights and tail lights) while the vehicle is in motion at night. It significantly increases the risk of an accident. Online owner forums and repair shops confirm this issue is widespread in Kia vehicles, often traced to a failing multifunction headlight/turn signal switch. Despite the frequency of these failures, there has been no recall issued by Kia. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect in the 2016 Kia Forte and related models, as it directly compromises driver and passenger safety.Read more

Because they have not sealed the screws on the interior side of the roof that hold the rails on top of the Jeep it now leaks since we have attached a kayak rack to those Jeep factory placed rails. Jeep is not willing to repair it and it requires tearing out the complete interior headliner to repair. After it rains the water sits in the door frame and leaks into the floor of the backseat causing mo
... lding issues (last good rain we got I ended up with an inch of water sitting in the back floorboard). It also collects in the front interior light fixture so when you drive and come to a stop there is water coming down all over the dashboard and the electrical/computer components of the dash. I called Jeep customer service and they won't repair it even though it is a VERY COMMON problem (per google search to try and see what the cause and repair entails, this is how I found out that the rail screws are the issue). Since it is a common problem and Jeep doesn't want to repair it and it is not only ruining my headliner and the carpet, but it also poses a risk when driving that it distracts as you try to sop it up as it's leaking from the light fixture as you drive and there's no other way to get it out without taking the whole inside of the Jeep apart.Read more

On 08/31/2025, I was involved in an accident while driving my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. While attempting to change lanes at highway speed, the driver behind me failed to see my turn signal and collided with my vehicle. I believe the cause was the unusually low placement of the rear bumper-mounted turn signals, which creates a direct visibility flaw. The Tucson’s turn signals are mounted low on the r
... ear bumper instead of at eye level within the taillight assembly. This design makes them especially difficult to see in two critical conditions: Bright Sunlight: The low-mounted signals are easily washed out in daytime conditions, reducing visibility to following drivers. Low Light/Traffic Conditions: At night or in heavy traffic, larger vehicles and brake light glare further obscure the signals. In my case, the driver behind me could not see my intent to switch lanes, and despite my efforts to avoid a collision, the lack of visible signaling directly led to a frontal driver’s side impact. This design presents an ongoing highway safety hazard: Poor Visibility: Low placement reduces signal recognition in both bright and low light. Accident Risk: My collision demonstrates the real-world consequences of this flaw. Durability Concerns: Bumper-level placement exposes wiring to water, debris, and road wear, raising the risk of malfunction. Although the accident resulted in minor damage, the potential for severe outcomes at highway speeds is significant. I respectfully request NHTSA to investigate this design flaw and evaluate whether corrective action (recall, retrofit, or advisory) is warranted. UNKNOWN if Hyundai is currently addressing this issue, but concerns about rear blinker visibility have been widely reported among Tucson owners and auto safety forums.Read more

Safety Concern Regarding Left Rear Brake and Turn Light Malfunction in a BMW 328i I want to outline a significant safety concern related to the electrical system. specifically involving the left rear brake and turn signal lights. For several months, intermittent warnings indicated a malfunction in these lights. On New Years, the warnings ceased to be intermittent, and the lights failed completel
... y. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the ground pin within the wiring harness had melted off the tail light connector and fused into the harness itself. The melting of a wiring pin is a critical issue that indicates an electrical fault, likely due to excessive current or resistance, and presents a serious safety risk. The fact that a core safety feature of the vehicle—the brake and turn lights—failed completely due to this issue is a significant concern. This type of malfunction can lead to a rear-end collision, as drivers behind the vehicle would not be properly alerted to braking or turning maneuvers. This situation is not merely an inconvenience but a potential public health and safety hazard. The failure of vehicle safety components, particularly those responsible for signaling, directly increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents, which are a leading cause of injury and death. NHTSA is responsible for ensuring vehicle safety, and the failure of vehicle lighting systems due to a manufacturing or design defect is a violation of these standards and a common factor in accidents (FHA, 2025). this specific issue with my BMW 328i is not an isolated incident. Research into technical service bulletins and consumer complaints reveals that melted wiring harnesses and bulb carriers in the rear taillight assemblies are a known, recurring problem. The prevalence of this issue strongly suggests a systemic design or manufacturing flaw that puts drivers and the public at risk. As a known defect, the failure to address it could lead to significant legal and financial consequenceRead more
