The headlights on my car are very dim, impeding my ability to see the road at night. I sometimes resort to using my high beams when there is no oncoming traffic. I am afraid I will not see an obstacle in the road. I noticed this problem several years ago and told the service department at the dealership about it. They suggested that they clean a film off of the headlights, which they did and it te

After looking at the vehicle he said the entire pair of headlight assemblies would have to be replaced to adequately fix the problem. No warning lights in the car signified this problem, but it was obvious that the headlights were dim while driving at night.Read more

The headlights continously and irregularly flicker between high and low beam while driving at night. I have no control over it and cannot turn off the high beams when they activate. This is highly annoying to drivers ahead me, as they believe I am trying to get their attention (or be obnoxious). In these times and the legalization of open carry weapons in the state of Florida, this can be highly d

I have already had issues on the road with drivers not happy with the high beam flicking on and off at them while driving on the road. They have become very aggressive, following, slowing down, honking at me because they think I am being impatient or trying to tell them someting is wrong. 📝 Complaint: 2014 Cadillac SRX Dim Headlights Subject: URGENT SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECT: Severely Dim Headlights on 2014 Cadillac SRX (Affecting 2010-2016 Model Years) – Failure to Act Despite Class Action and NHTSA Complaints Vehicle Information: * Year: 2014 * Make: Cadillac * Model: SRX * VIN [XXX] 4 * Owner/Complainant [XXX] r * Contact [XXX] [XXX] m 1. The Defect and Safety Hazar
... d The headlights on my 2014 Cadillac SRX have become severely and progressively dim, constituting a major safety hazard for night driving. * Hazard: The lack of adequate light output dramatically reduces visibility, compromises the driver's ability to see obstacles, and increases the risk of a severe accident during operation at night, dusk, or in poor weather. This is a critical failure of a core safety component. * Cause: The root cause is a well-documented design flaw in the headlight assembly (affecting 2010-2016 models) that allows moisture to enter the sealed unit. This moisture degrades the internal reflective coating, permanently destroying the light's effective output. 2. Failure to Act Despite Known Issues General Motors (GM) and the appropriate safety regulators have been aware of this critical defect for years, yet no mandatory safety recall has been issued: * NHTSA Complaint History: According to public records, complaints regarding this exact issue have been "pouring in" for the last five years or more. The high volume of complaints clearly demonstrates a systemic, widespread, and dangerous failure across this vehicle platform. * Class Action Lawsuits: This defect has been the subject of class action litigation against General Motors, further establishing that the company is fully aware of the design flaw and the resulting safety hazard. 3. The Unacceptable Repair Burden I am being forced to bear the cost of replacing the defective assembly with a new part that utilizes the same fundamentally flawed design. Subject: RECALL VIOLATION: Kia on the Boulevard (Philadelphia) - Refused Remedy, Charged $199, Returned Unsafe Vehicle Vehicle Information: [Year] Kia Optima Hybrid Dealership Name: Kia on the Boulevard Dealership Address: 11295 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19154 Complaint Description: 1. The Safety Incident: While operating the vehicle, I experienced a catastrophic engine failure. Thick sm

Dealer Misconduct & Illegal Charges: I towed the vehicle to Kia on the Boulevard (11295 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia) for the active engine recall remedy. The dealership: * Refused to perform the recall repair free of charge. * Forced me to pay a $199 "diagnostic fee" just to look at the recall-related defect, which should be covered by the manufacturer. * Threatened me with $45/day storage fees if I did not pay the $199 and remove the vehicle immediately. 3. Current Status: Under the threat of accumulating storage fees, I was coerced into paying the $199 and towing the vehicle back to my residence. The dealership knowingly released a vehicle with a catastrophic engine failure (smoke/fire risk) back to the owner without performing the federally mandated remedy. The unsafe vehicle is now sitting at my home unrepaired. 4. Conclusion: I request an immediate investigation into Kia on the Boulevard's refusal to honor the recall and their practice of charging customers for recall-related inspections.Read more

While driving on the interstate in light snow and mostly clear and semi dry roads, ice accumulates on both the head lights and the foglights to a degree that they no longer project enough light to see far enough ahead at even moderate speeds. When I pulled over to inspect them, the surface was coated with a mix of ice and dirt rendering them useless. Ambient temperatures were between 24 and 30 d
... egrees. It seems that the LED lights lack enough heat to protect from ice accumulation and a heat element of some type should have been included given the placement of the lights being somewhat recessed and that allows for accumulation. Obviously in pre-dawn darkness this produced an unsafe operation of a vehicle at highway speeds due to not being able to see the road far enough in advance. As far as I know it has not been addressed or noticed by Ford since there is no information about this in their manual. I have seen aftermarket products that heat the light surface and prevent the accumulation of ice - Ford should retrofit something to prevent the accumulation of ice on light surfaces.Read more

This is a safety issue. If it were just the radio effected, I really would care. But because the cars systems rely on the infotainment systems, its a concern. Symptoms are : Freezing & Crashing: The screen becomes unresponsive or shuts down unexpectedly. On multiple occasions, the vehicle’s infotainment system has malfunctioned, and when this occurs, the turn signals stop working entirely. I am writing to respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) consider adopting a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requiring vehicles to provide a clear driver alert when headlights and tail lamps are not illuminated in low-light conditions. Although many vehicles offer automatic headlights, these systems can be disabled without the driver’s knowledge
... when the physical headlight switch is moved from “AUTO” to “OFF.” This may occur during routine servicing, inspections, car washes, or detailing, and the vehicle provides no notification that the automatic lighting has been disabled. As a result, even conscientious drivers can unknowingly operate a vehicle without proper illumination at night. A recent incident involving my daughter illustrates this concern. She always keeps her headlights set to “AUTO,” and she is aware of the importance of nighttime visibility. However, after a state vehicle inspection, the inspector had manually turned her headlights to the OFF position. She later drove at night with the expectation that her automatic lighting system was functioning and subsequently received a warning ticket from law enforcement for not having her headlights on. The vehicle provided no warning whatsoever that the headlights and tail lamps were not active. Additionally, modern dashboard lighting systems automatically illuminate when ambient lighting decreases and may dim in the evening, which strongly implies to the driver that the vehicle’s exterior lighting is active. At the same time, daytime running lights illuminate the front of the vehicle, while rear lights remain off. From the driver’s perspective, the road ahead appears lit, and the interior displays reinforce the assumption that lighting is fully engaged. This creates a false sense of proper lighting and is misleading from a human-factors standpoint.Read more

The headlights on my RAV4 do not shine far enough in front of the vehicle and have a straight line cut off at top of beam. While driving in rural areas of the California foothills this issue is dangerous. Searching for other consumer opinions I have found many online forums with simular experiences, suggesting going to the dealership to have the headlights aimed hirer. This would change the stock legal safety settings and I'm afraid of possible legal reprocusions if we get into an accident. I have gone to my Facebook RAV4 group also to ask if anyone else has had this problem. It was unanimous, this is an issue with everyone. Others stated they won't drive at night.
