I have 2016 BMW 5 series car, for past two to three years headlights are getting condensation inside on colder months. Dealer is not able to fix the condensation, they are advising to replace the headlights. Some of my friends replaced OEM headlights, but after few years they are started condensation, it’s looked like defect from manufacturer, I had few Honda vehicles older than my BMW car, they
... never had any condensation complaints. It’s look like manufacturer used cheap materials causing condensation, it is causing low light at night times may lead to accidents. Please look at this issue and consider it as a safety issue and please recall these headlights. Dealer is asking $2500 + $500 labor to fix each headlight. All of my friends are having same problem, I bet other BMW car owners too. Please issue a recall on this safety issue.Read more

Vehicle: 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring (OEM headlights; no aftermarket lighting modifications) Issue Type: Exterior Lighting – Headlights (low-beam performance/visibility) Description of Problem: I am submitting a safety complaint regarding the low-beam headlights on my 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring. The low beams provide poor foreground illumination and create a distinct dark are
... a directly in front of the vehicle. In real-world nighttime driving, the beam pattern leaves an obvious “dead zone”/shadowed region in the near-field (close to the front of the car), which reduces my ability to see road hazards, debris, pedestrians/animals, and lane-edge detail in time to react safely. The problem is most noticeable on unlit roads and in wet conditions, where the lack of usable light in the foreground makes it difficult to judge road surface changes and identify objects near the vehicle’s path. The cutoff/beam pattern appears abnormal in that the area immediately ahead is not properly lit despite the headlights being on and functioning. This is not related to dirty lenses, aftermarket bulbs, or modifications. Safety Impact: This headlight performance issue reduces forward visibility at night and increases the risk of a collision because hazards in the roadway may not be visible until the vehicle is very close. The dark zone in front of the vehicle is consistent and repeatable, not an occasional flicker or intermittent failure. Low-Speed Navigation: When making turns into unlit driveways or onto dark side streets, the area where the vehicle is turning remains pitch black, making it impossible to see pedestrians, cyclists, or road obstacles. Object Avoidance: At highway speeds, the "dark zone" prevents the driver from seeing road debris or potholes until they are directly under the vehicle, leaving zero time for evasive maneuvers. Headlights are original equipment and the vehicle has not been modified.Read more

Formal Complaint on Seized Headlight Sockets and Kia’s Obstruction of Essential Safety Maintenance 1. Incident & Discovery of Defect: I am the owner of a 2015 Kia Sorento. Recently, one of my headlights failed. Upon attempting a routine bulb replacement, I discovered a critical hardware defect: the bulb socket is physically seized. It cannot be rotated or removed by any standard manual force.
... This is not a simple wear-and-tear issue; it is a mechanical seizure of a component that must remain accessible for safety maintenance. 2. Kia’s Refusal of Technical Guidance: To resolve this without damaging the entire assembly, I contacted Kia America (Case #[XXX]) specifically requesting technical instructions or any written explanations to safely disengage the seized unit. Despite multiple attempts via phone and email, Kia explicitly refused to provide any technical guidance, flatly stating they are "not technically trained" or authorized to share such information. 3. Obstruction of "Right to Repair" & Safety Risk: I firmly believe that a vehicle owner has a fundamental "Right to Repair," especially for essential safety components like headlights. By withholding basic maintenance instructions, Kia is intentionally obstructing my ability to maintain a street-legal, safe vehicle. Driving with a non-functional headlight is a Critical Safety Hazard that severely impairs visibility and creates an immediate risk of fatal accidents—yet Kia has chosen to leave me in this dangerous situation. 4. Exploitative Business Practice & Systemic Failure: This appears to be a deliberate and Exploitative Business Practice. By failing to provide a manual and refusing technical support for a defective, seized part, Kia is effectively forcing consumers into a "forced monopoly" where we must pay for expensive replacements at authorized dealerships for what should be a low-cost, simple bulb change. 5. Request for Investigation: I request that the NHTSA initiate a formal investigation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF IRead more

About 4 weeks ago my vehicle began shaking uncontrollably while driving. I contacted the dealership again, stated the vehicle was unsafe, dropped it off at approximately 8:00 PM and was required to obtain my own rental vehicle. After one week I was told the engine required a camshaft and lifter replacement. Inspected & approved by extended warranty, parts were ordered and installed. I retrieved the vehicle on 23 days after the initial failure. The following morning (24th day) while driving approximately 75 mph on a major interstate with my children the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral and would not re-engage. I was unable to shift into any gear and coasted to a narrow shoulder inches from traffic and guardrail. The dashboard stated the vehicle could not shift into gear and instructed me to push the start button. The engine would not restart. We were stranded approximately two hours in 10-degree weather on a major interstate with heavy semi-truck traffic. Roadside assistance was required. 3 days later the dealership stated the failure was a fuse block. After replacement the vehicle was test driven and stated to be operating normally. A second dealership employee test drove the vehicle, it died again and had to be towed back to the dealership. The battery was replaced after draining while disabled. Repeated mechanical and electrical failures resulted in complete loss of power at highway speeds and placed my children and me in immediate danger.
