The headlights on my 2015 SRX are faulty--even GM admits it. They are so dim that it is dangerous to drive at night unless I keep my high beams on at all times, which is dangerous to other drivers. Without the high beams on at night, the reduced headlight performance prevents me from seeing more than 5 feet in front of my car. There was no warning--the lights simply dimmed to the point where I

Since the purchase of my vehicle 7 30 2022 & after driving the first several times in the darkness/evening hours & since I have had safety concerns that the headlamps in my vehicle are insufficient/inadequate - not just the normal headlights illumination but also the high beams. When the high beams are activated the additional effect is negligible/deliver inferior performance. I have continued t
... o reach out to Kia & thus far they have not been helpful. I believe driving at night time is putting me at a safety risk. The dealership did/does not have a way to test the headlamps in any sort of calibration or measuring means other than to turn on the headlights while in the service area and shine them on a wall. When driving during the night time hours I keep my speed on rural roads typically below the speed limit as I do not feel I could brake/stop the vehicle in the field of vision that the headlight illumination provides. I have reached out repeatedly to the Kia Assistance number & thus far there has been no action or contact made by any positive measures taken to address my concerns. I have even contacted my insurance agent twice to express my frustration of Kia's inadequacy to provide a solution or address my concerns. I ask please for any assistance that you may be able to help remedy this safety/risk concern.Read more

Both left and right headlights on this car cast a dark "shadow" on the road in front of the car when driving at night. It only occurs when the headlights are on low beam, the high beam headlights are normal. Each headlight casts 2 shadows, for a total of 4, which can be seen about 100 feet in front of the car. They are very distracting at all times, but especially when the car is driven around
... a corner; it appears something is running across the road in front of the car. When I have pointed it out to passengers in the car, everyone remarks that it is very distracting and odd. I told the folks in the service department at the dealership I bought the car from about it, and they turned the headlights on and pulled the car up to a blank wall. I was with them and we could all clearly see the black shadows on the wall. It's like there are pieces of tape on the headlight lenses, but there isn't anything visible that would make these shadows. The service folks at the dealership just scratched their heads and said there was nothing they could do, and so the problem remains. This car is available for inspection at any time. There are no warning lamps or messages about the headlights. I bought this car new in May 2021 and noticed the problem right away. The dealership looked at it when we took it in for it's first oil change in February 2022, but they did not note it on the service receipt.Read more

When lights are turned to automatic setting they often turn on during daylight or off at night. They have now turned off while driving at night on unlit roads and highways and we are lucky we did not have an accident. Typically jiggling the knob on light lever will reset the lights to be correct, but this leads to distracted driving often while not being able to see the road.

The infotainment system is damaged resulting in the display screen being blacked out. All of the safety features including rearview camera, parking assistance, Hands-free phone, and all other vehicle settings are not available. There are multiple warning notifications on the dashboard indicating a malfunction in the interior lighting, lane change, and parking systems. Even before the screen went
... out the rear camera would malfunction when the vehicle is in reverse. The sensor would cause the vehicle to abruptly brake even though there was no obstruction behind. The display failed on October 16, 2022. I took the vehicle into the Audi dealership for service on November 29,2022, however technician was not able to provide any information due to the manufacturer not having a solution to the recall. There is no estimated resolution date nor is there a remedy available for this issue. As a consumer I am very concerned that there is a defect involving the display screen and I am not comfortable driving. I rely heavily on these features when driving to prevent damage or injury. This is the second recall pertaining to the infotainment system within a year. This is very disconcerting because I am not able to use any of the features within the vehicle and the interior is extremely dark at night.Read more

The headlights malfunctioned two weeks after I purchased the vehicle. The center control panel electronics that controls heating and cooling, the phone, etc failed suddenly and without warning while I was on the highway. There have been multiple problems with this vehicle since I purchased it on September 19. It has been in the shop for about 15 days. A propulsion system warning appeared without
... warning while I was driving the car. The battery drained for unknown reasons while plugged in to charge. This is not a safe car. It is controlled by an electronics system and software that are not reliable, leaving me at risk of being in an accident or stranded somewhere. I have read that some of these vehicles go into "turtle mode" and won't go over about 5mph after the propulsion system warning has appeared. I do not want to be driving this on a highway and lose all acceleration. I do not want to stop at a rest stop at night and have my car not start. There is clearly something quite wrong with the operating software and electronics that this vehicle depends upon. It is quite apparent that Volvo's nascent software development team has adopted the "move fast and break things" philosophy espoused by many software companies. The key distinction here is that when my computer software crashes, I am sitting at my desk chair. With an automobile, the crash could very well happen at 65 mph or with me stuck in some remote location. The idea that Volvo would roll out a product so miserably deficient of basic capabilities is mendacious.Read more

Incident date: Nov 11, 2022
My daughter is in college in Tallahassee. About 4 months ago, she told me that when she presses the accelerator, the car doesn’t go as fast as it should. In July 2022, the car was serviced in Tallahassee at the dealership; however, none of this is reflected on the receipt. In November she came home to Palm Beach County, on her way back, she told me that she was having the same issue when she pre
... ssed the accelerator. She made it to Tallahassee and I had her take it to the dealership. The Service Manager called me and said she had gone over the recommended miles for an oil change and this may have caused damage to the engine; however, he decided to change her oil and spark plug which coated about $318. She drove the car for a few days and noticed a loud tapping noise; also, the car rolls in all gears, and the same issue with when pressing the accelerator. Upon taking it back to the dealer, they told me that the engine would have to be replaced at a cost of $9500. The car had sat at the dealer since November 14, 2022 because no one would call back; provide updates after I started questioning the issues with other vehicles like this one based on my research. In addition, I was told the manufacturers warranty did not apply to my daughter’s car because she was the 2nd owner. I had the car towed today, November 30, 2022 to AAMCO. It is available if needed. This issue has put my daughter at risk because Tallahassee is very hilly. The vehicle not getting enough speed to drive up a hill, pass vehicles or possibly be hit from behind puts my daughter and others at risk. The dealership has indicated there is a problem with the engine that will require it to be replaced. The vehicle was inspected by Werner Hyundai in Tallahassee who said there was an issue with the engine. It is now at AAMCO. Outside of my daughter indicating the problem, I am not aware of any other warnings.Read more

This is one of the absolutely worst kind of problems that fundamentally affects the safety of the car when driven at night. Problem: Delamination of the headlight reflective material resulting in severely degraded headlights. A multitude of accounts including at least 2 YouTube videos with many comments confirming the problem state that there is so little light the car is or is next to undrivable
... at night. This is a MAJOR safety issue which I am currently working around by driving with my high beams on all the time after causing a blowout on the passenger side tire by hitting an object I couldn't see and replacing the halogen with xenon bulbs before I knew what the problem was. I also nearly hit a pedestrian one night. NISSAN settled a class action lawsuit that required NISSAN to notify all owners of 2013-2018 NISSAN Altimas and remedy the problem one of 3 ways but only up to Sept 2022. The website that describes the lawsuit is at http://www.altimaheadlightsettlement.com/case-documents.aspx The problem for me specifically is that because I purchased this car in Sept 2022, I didn't become an owner of the car until the very month the last remedies specified in the class action lawsuit expired. I can say with surety that every 2013-2018 NISSAN Altima not already fixed is a timebomb for potentially fatal accidents of all types hitting any person or object imaginable at night. I question the logic of a time limit for this problem because it will most likely occur depending on how often the car is driven at night. I have just contacted NISSAN USA and they refuse to voluntarily extend the warranty provided under the terms of the class action settlement, but the problem is so extremely bad that there should have been a recall done from the beginning and I hope this case is addressed by the DOT with expedience. Imagine all the Altimas that haven't been fixed which are on the road today at night. Every time it happens, there is a major possibility of death to someone.Read more

Upon stopping I found a caked layer of snow on both headlights complete diffusing their beam into every direction including vertically up into the snowflakes that had been so disruptive to my ability to see. On the remainder of the drive home I had to stop Every 15 minutes (5 times) to clear the snow from the lenses. I was riding the motorcycle during daylight hours, and I noticed some glitchy electrical behavior. The turn signal indicators were dimly lit, turn signals themselves were inoperative, horn inoperative, windshield vertical adjustment inoperative, etc. The important part was that both headlights were inoperative, which would be a huge problem if I was riding during nighttime hours. The engine contin
... ued to operate normally and I rode the bike home. The symptoms indicated a failed grounding connector. I removed the left side fairing and located a ground connector under the glove box/storage compartment that had scorch/burn marks on it. I cleaned the connector and applied conductive grease to prevent future corrosion. Problem solved…all electrical components worked normally. There was a previous NHTSA campaign for 2006-2009 FJR1300 models, 11V-338, that addressed a failed grounding connector. This bike is a 2012 model which was not addressed by the earlier campaign, and my failed grounding connector was a different one than was addressed by the campaign. I’ll attach a photo of my failed connector as well as a schematic of the ground connectors. The schematic is not an official Yamaha drawing, but from a group of FJR owners that have been working to solve the grounding problems. The original campaign addressed only the “S4” connector located under the fuel tank near the coolant thermostat on the forward left-hand side of the engine valve cover. My failed component was the “S6” connector located under the glove box/storage compartment. I located all 8 ground connectors on my bike, cleaned them and applied conductive grease to each one to hopefully avoid any future electrical problems. Yamaha needs to come up with a fix for the “S6” connector. If a rider is out riding at night and that connector fails, and the headlights suddenly go out…it could be very difficult to keep the bike on the road and avoid a crash.Read more

Toyota North America failed to notify me of the latent defect in the Headlight Operating System. I have had ongoing issues with the flickering of the lights for multiple years. After multiple failed attempts to get the problem fixed and having both headlights shut off simultaneously, I went to Alexandria Toyota in Virgi

The Automobile Status Report showed that the failed headlights were a direct result of the latent defect in the Headlight Operating System that was repaired free of charge in two separate Support Programs; one that ended in 2012, and the other in 2013. When I contacted Customer Support Service on October 24, 2022, to inquire when Toyota contacted me and where they sent the Support Program Information regarding the headlight issue, none of the three managers could tell me the date this was sent out, nor the address. I didn’t own the car in 2012, and never received the 2017 notice. If I had received this information, I would have brought my vehicle in at that time. I purchased this vehicle back in 2013 as a “Toyota Certified Vehicle” with the understanding that the 160-point quality assurance meant that this was a safe and reliable vehicle, and that any problems or latent defects were fixed. Toyota misrepresented themselves and are in contradiction with their own policy that states: “The TCUV policy prohibits the certification of any vehicle with an outstanding Safety Recall, Special Service Campaign, or Limited Service Campaign. Since she travels by Two lane very dark back country roads. I am asking for a different remedy for the headlight situation, other than the stickers on the headlights that are actually making it harder to see. The instrument cluster is failing on my vehicle which causes the digital display that shows mileage and gas levels start off blank then as the vehicle warms it starts flickering and causes visibility issues as that is very distracting and could cause seizures to those sensitive to flickering. This also prevents drivers from knowing gas levels which causes drivers to be stranded on the side of the
... road or have the vehicle just turn off while driving due to no gas. The vehicle is available for inspection and I have videos of the issues as does many others having the same issue. I have videos of the issue but they are not allowing me to upload maybe due to file type. The flickering can cause seizures as well as being distracting which could cause accidents. Not having any way to determine gas level or mileage also is a safety issue as there is no way to know how much fuel is in the vehicle which could cause drivers to be stranded or vehicle to quit working while driving. I have taken my vehicle in to Norm Reeves Honda and Honda of Denton for this issue numerous times and provided them videos of the issues but they stated they couldn’t reproduce it until the extended warranty went out and now the finally are able to reproduce it and confirm it needs replaced. It has been inspected the the Honda dealerships There was no warning it just started happening out of the blue about 3 or 4 years ago. The first time it happened I went to back out and a start system error came up and the car turned off and lost all power. I almost crashed into my carport as I could not even steer. I haven’t had that happen again but the display issues continue to happen.Read more
