Took my 22 silverado with the L87 engine in for the recall. The dealer stated that my vehicle had a tick in the motor but it passed the pico test. They switched it to the 0W40 oil and stated that my engine will probably blow here soon, but until that happens there hands are tied. Today i took my truck in for another inspection because my motor had a very loud Tick noise almost sounding like metal
... on metal, they stated they did not hear anything and without more proof nothing can be done. My safety is very much put at risk when i report something to them thats happening with the vehicle, and if my motor blows while im driving 80 MPH i could crash into others or even die myself. My transmission is also having problems of what i would call Bucking when you put it into drive, i also filled up with gas last week shut my truck off pumped gas, got back into my truck and started it, went to put it into drive had no power shut it off and did it again, i had power but my rear wheels were locked up and wouldnt budge. shut it off turned my truck on and engaged the 4 wheel drive, and then disengaged it, still not able to drive. shut it off and put it back into drive and the rear wheels were able to drive normally. Dealership says theres a recall on the transmission to add a spacer plate so it was ordered. This issue needs to be taken very seriously this is why they say theres only 3% motors affected is because they decline the motors that have actual problems but its still running so to them its fine.Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine stalls out and shuts the car down. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving down the road, if the engine shuts off, myself, passengers, and other vehicles could cause a fatal crash. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent serv
... ice center? Not yet Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have brought this in several times to try and fix this issue. The fuel pump has been replaced and the auto idle recall has been take care of. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The check engine light comes on occasionally when it happens; sometimes when it does not. Other details: Several times now my car has randomly shut off especially when driving down the road. I wasn't sure what happened, but I finally figured out a way to replicate it. Basically if you drive it after about an hour of non-stop driving / engine being turned on, the engine overheats causing the car to stall out and eventually turn off. I timed this at 10:15AM to 11:25AM and my suspicions were correct. At 11:25AM, the car stalled and shut off while I was parked in my driveway.Read more

Request for Goodwill Assistance – Turbocharger Failure (Special Coverage XXX) Dear General Motors Customer Assistance, I am writing to request a one-time goodwill repair for my 2018 Buick Encore (VIN: [XXX]). Approximately two months after purchasing this vehicle, the check engine light illuminated and diagnostic testing identified code P0299, indicating turbocharger failure. This issue appea
... rs to align with General Motors' Special Coverage Program XXX, issued in February 2024 for certain 2017–2018 Buick Encore vehicles equipped with the 1.4L engine due to known turbocharger failures. Unfortunately, my local GM dealership has informed me that they are unable to perform the repair under the special coverage because the vehicle carries a Pennsylvania reconstructed (R) title. While I understand the vehicle's title status, I respectfully ask GM to consider the unique circumstances. In Pennsylvania, reconstructed vehicles must undergo a rigorous Enhanced Vehicle Inspection process before they can be legally registered and operated on public roads. My vehicle successfully passed all required inspections and is legally certified for highway use. Because this special coverage was issued to address a defect that may lead to significant engine damage and, in some cases, a potential engine compartment fire, I am requesting a one-time goodwill repair or other assistance from General Motors. The concern involves a known condition affecting this vehicle platform and presents a potential safety risk during both local and highway driving. I have been a loyal GM customer and would greatly appreciate your review of this situation. Given that the vehicle has been properly repaired, inspected, and approved for road use under Pennsylvania law, I respectfully request that GM reconsider eligibility for assistance despite the reconstructed title designation. Thank you for your time, consideration, and any assistance you may be able to provide. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(BRead more

I own a 2020 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L V8 engine and have under 60,000 miles on the vehicle. The engine is consuming excessive amounts of oil — approximately 3 to 4 quarts every 5,000 to 6,000 miles under normal driving conditions with no visible leaks or blue smoke. I brought the vehicle to a Ford dealership and opened a formal case with Ford Motor Company. Ford performed an oil consumption tes
... t and stated the consumption was within acceptable limits. I do not find this acceptable for a relatively new engine and the owner’s manual does not indicate that adding oil between changes is normal or expected. This level of oil consumption poses a potential safety risk as inadequate lubrication can lead to premature engine wear and failure. I am requesting that Ford acknowledge this as a defect and provide a remedy under the powertrain warranty. Other F-150 owners have reported the same issue and I believe this warrants a formal investigationRead more

2017 Hyundai Tucson | VIN: [XXX] | Mileage: 75,000 I have owned this vehicle for approximately five years and have experienced severe excessive oil consumption for the past two to three years. The issue was first discovered when the vehicle entered protective mode due to critically low oil levels despite a routine oil change having been performed only a few months prior. I am currently required to
... add approximately one quart of oil every month to maintain safe operating levels. I visited an authorized Hyundai dealership to have an oil consumption test performed. The dealership informed me that if the test confirmed excessive consumption, I would be required to pay out of pocket for an engine replacement. I declined, as Hyundai Motor America has publicly acknowledged this exact defect in the 2017 Tucson through NHTSA Recall 21V727000, multiple Technical Service Bulletins, and a class action settlement covering 2014-2021 Tucson vehicles with the Nu 2.0-liter GDI engine. My VIN was found ineligible on the class action settlement website despite the acknowledged defect. Hyundai has admitted this engine suffers from premature bearing wear, excessive oil consumption, and risk of engine failure and fire. I have experienced a severe hesitation or delay in acceleration when accelerating from a stop or near-stop condition. While the issue has only occurred a few times over the past several months, on multiple occasions it happened while merging into traffic and nearly resulted in an accident. Toyota has issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB-0032-26) addressing this condition. However, when I brough
... t my vehicle to the dealership, Toyota documented that they were unable to reproduce or confirm the hesitation, and no repair was performed. This defect presents a significant safety risk. Unexpected loss of acceleration during traffic merges, intersections, or other situations requiring immediate power can place drivers and passengers in danger and could lead to serious injury or death. Given the safety implications and the fact that the remedy appears to be a software update requiring less than an hour to perform, I believe this issue warrants a formal safety recall rather than a voluntary Technical Service Bulletin. I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter and require Toyota to provide a recall remedy for all affected vehicles.Read more

Inspection revealed the damaged lifter had caused abnormal contact with the camshaft lobe, resulting in significant scoring and wear of the camshaft. The failed lifter and bent pushrod led to loss of proper valve operation and cylinder misfire. Point of failure is lifter #2 that resulted in camshaft failure as consequence. On May 11th I was driving my 2019 Mazda CX-5 with approximately 35,000 miles when my cabin filled with the smell of gasoline. Upon inspection, the technicians discovered there was a "crack at rear cylin

I was advised that this must be a manufacturer defect as you should not see this issue at such low mileage. The vehicle was then towed to the nearest Mazda dealership/service center, where a cracked rear cylinder head was diagnosed and confirmed. I was informed that continued operation of the vehicle could have resulted in catastrophic engine failure, engine seizure, fire risk from leaking oil contacting hot engine components, or sudden loss of power while driving, creating an extremely dangerous driving situation. Prior to the failure, there were no major warning indicators other than the sudden strong fuel/oil smell. Please find the details regarding the sudden, dangerous failure of my vehicle below. The itemized findings are pulled directly from the dealership’s multi-point inspection and diagnostic report. When was the first time (approximate date) you noticed the issue? The issue culminated in an immediate, hazardous crisis on XXX when the vehicle completely shut down while in operation and refused to re
... start. How often does the issue happen within a time frame (e.g., once a month)? This is a permanent, catastrophic mechanical failure. The engine is completely inoperable and the vehicle is entirely undriveable. What is the name & title of the person(s) assisting you at the dealer? I am being assisted by Victoria Dalessandro at Honda City Long Island in [XXX]. What is the reason/explanation provided by the dealer, as to what caused this issue? Following a formal engine teardown, the dealership confirmed a severe internal failure: a lower engine knock originating from the front connecting rod bearing. This internal component defect completely seized the powertrain, causing the vehicle to shut down and rendering the engine unrepairable. What repairs/services have been completed (if any)? Only the initial teardown and diagnostic inspection have been completed. No repairs will be authorized until American Honda Motor Company, Inc. assumes corporate financial responsibility for this premature powertrain failure. What repairs/services have been suggested? The dealership has stated that a complete engine replacement is required, suggesting a used engine swap ($7,609.92). In conjunction with this catastrophic failure, they have itemized necessary peripheral parts and critical safety wear, including new spark plugs, a replacement drive belt, failed lower control arms ($1,704.28), leaking front struts, degraded stabilizer links, and fluid exchanges. costs estimated for the repair (if any?) My car started overheating on my way home. I pulled over to find that there is a hole in my lower radiator hose, which was caused by the lower radiator hose being rubbed against the belt that is turned by the water pump. Once we got the car jacked up and the lower radiator hose replaced, we found the bottom of the radiator is loose and is pushing the lower radiator hose against the belt that rubbed the hole into the lower radiator hose. I then had my car towed to Dan Cummins in Georgetown Kentucky, located at 1470 Cherry Blossom Way, Georgetown, KY 40324. The mechanic drove my car that I had towed to the shop which damaged the new radiator hose that I had just put on the car. Dan Cummins of Georgetown Kentucky, who is an authorized Chevrolet Dealership, was informed (by me) that some 2016 Chevy Malibu's have been recalled because of a faulty lower radiator mount causing the lower radiator hose to push against the belt which causes the lower radiator hose to get a hole and leak. My 2020 Kia Telluride with the 3.8L V6 engine is experiencing excessive oil consumption between scheduled oil changes. The vehicle consumes a significant amount of engine oil without any visible external leaks. The oil level drops substantially between oil change intervals, requiring frequent monitoring and oil additions to prevent the engine from running low on oil. This condition creates a safe
... ty risk because the vehicle can operate with dangerously low oil levels without providing sufficient warning to the driver, increasing the risk of engine damage, engine failure, loss of power while driving, or a vehicle breakdown in traffic. A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. The condition has been observed repeatedly and is ongoing. No external oil leaks have been identified. The vehicle has been maintained according to manufacturer recommendations. The excessive oil consumption appears to be internal to the engine. The issue has been reported to and discussed with a Kia dealer. The problem is consistent and reproducible between oil changes. Prior to discovering the oil loss, there were no obvious symptoms other than the oil level decreasing significantly between service intervals. The issue was identified through routine oil level checks. I am concerned that this condition may affect a large number of vehicles equipped with the same engine and could result in engine failure or loss of power while driving.Read more
