My 2017 Kia Sportage has experienced excessive oil consumption, cylinder #3 misfires, loss of power, and highway stalling events. The dealership initially documented engine damage and indicated findings consistent with internal engine failure, including concerns related to metal contamination and cylinder damage. These issues appear consistent with numerous complaints from other Kia owners involvi
... ng the same engine family. Kia has since backtracked on prior findings, and both Kia and the dealership have stopped responding to my requests for clarification and documentation. The cylinder damage and related engine failures appear to be symptoms of a larger engine defect that poses a safety risk due to sudden loss of power and stalling while driving. I request that NHTSA investigate these recurring engine failures and Kia’s handling of these claims.Read more

On May 25th, 2026 multiple dashboard warning lights flashed simultaneously while I was driving indicating an immediate engine issue, all warning alerts showed up. Next day, the engine exhibited a structural shudder/shake. The vehicle has otherwise always been perfectly maintained and operated flawlessly, thus, I called the dealership/ they gave me an appointment for the next day, after their inspe
... ction, they said that they need to replace the head gasket, timing chain set, and fuel injectors simultaneously; i learnt the imminent safety hazard i was exposed to! Operating a vehicle with an active internal fluid leak and compromised cylinder sealing creates an unpredictable driving hazard, putting occupants at risk of being stranded or rear-ended due to sudden engine failure. This proves that this is a systemic thermal defect affecting the structural integrity of the 1.5L turbo powertrain. The dealership stated the vehicle requires a top-end engine rebuild, specifically: a head gasket, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and a timing chain set. This is unacceptable given that my car is only 58.8K miles. I purchased the car brand new and always take good care, this issue is putting tens of thousands of dollars at financial risk! Now, on top of that, they want me to pay around $ 6,000 thousand dollars for a well-documented 1.5L engineering defect. This will destroy my trust in the brand and guarantee I will never buy a Honda again. This should be a safety recall, and why must I pay for their manufacture's issue? Is not fair.Read more

I have a 2022 Nissan Rogue SV that had an engine replaced due to a faulty head gasket in March of 2024 and my vehicle on 6/15/2026 had a rough idle of the engine and irregular RPM's which then led to the RPM's dropping to zero while in a stationary drivethru lane. The vehicle then showed a caution warning indicating to shift the car into Neutral. After getting the car towed to the dealership for d
... iagnostics it was determined that the vehicle requires a new engine. The likely cause according to the service advisor was a failed head gasket, which was the same reason for the first engine replacement. Despite the fact the engine will be covered under warranty, the possibility of the engine failure occurring on the highway while traveling at a high rate of speed, and potentially stranding me on the highway with no warning is a high cause for concern given the vehicle would have went into limp mode, which limits the vehicle to less than 15 MPH.Read more

We were driving on an interstate in Indiana and the car jerked and then automatically went into neutral. We couldn’t accelerate or put the car back into drive. We had to get over 2 lanes and onto the shoulder. We were able to put the car in park once on the shoulder but the car would not turn on or off. We couldn’t do anything. All electronics were still running but the engine was not run
... ning. The emergency break went on as well. The car sat on the side of the road for 3 hours with the electronics going while waiting for a tow which then wore out the battery. Because the car switched on the emergency break, the towing company had a difficult time getting it up on the tow truck. There were no warning lights going off. We were going 75mph on a highway with my children in the car! Scariest thing ever. I can only imagine what could have happened. We were so lucky to not be hit on the highway trying to change lanes and not being able to accelerate. Then we had to sit on the side of a highway for 3 hours in 95 degree weather and we were 2.5 hours from home! After 3 hours, a tow truck finally showed up. My family had to take a taxi to the nearest dealership because the tow truck would not take us. After 4 days, the dealership finally ran the diagnostic test and said the engine had seized up and we need a new engine which is on backorder. That dealership is 2.5 hours from home, so we then had to pay for another tow truck to get my vehicle back up to home so the local dealership could work on it. It has been one week since this incident happened and we have no idea how long the repairs will take but it’s my understanding that they are just replacing the faulty engine with another faulty engine because GM has no fix for this engine failure issue so it will happen again!!!Read more

The first incident occurred on November 2, 2025. I was driving down a state road. I missed my turn so I pulled into a parking lot to turn around. Once I was able to pull out, I put my foot on the accelerator and felt no resistance. The car rolled out of the parking lot onto the road. I kept pressing the accelerator hoping the gas would return but my car rolled along without picking up speed. I wa
... s able to turn into a gas station to get my car off the road. I turned the engine off. When I turned it back on, all of the lights on the dashboard came on, before the only one that remained lit was the check engine light. I had the car towed to my local mechanic who after diagnosing, told me my car over consumed oil which resulted in the engine shut down. I was due for a change in a 400 miles. He said it was a known problem with Kia Souls and advised me to take it to a Kia dealership for inspection, which I did. I've taken it to Kia Danvers. Since 11/2/25, the issue has persisted. On 3/27/26, my car shut down 4 times while driving. Each time I would hear a loud noise coming from the engine, and I could feel the power draining from the steering wheel and pedals before the engine would shut off. After a minute or two, the car would restart. The problems continued on 3/29/26 where it happened 8 times. I was able to get it to Kia Danvers on 4/1/26 for a diagnostic exam and an oil change. They suggested an oil consumption test which I did on 5/4/26. They said my oil reduction was normal. On 5/7/26, while driving, my car began violently shaking with the shaking occurring in the engine. The check engine light came on. I pulled over and immediately called the dealership to explain what happened. The said to come in but I wasn't able to get it towed. When I took it in for scheduled service on 5/27/26, they noted the car consumed a lot of oil and suggested another oil change, and a combustion chamber cleaning.Read more

The Incident: While operating the vehicle under high load, the driver received an explicit "Service Engine Soon" powertrain malfunction alert stating: "The powertrain control module lost communication with the vehicle active grill shutter module for a period of time." Immediately following this warning, the engine experienced a severe loss of power, followed by loud metallic banging from the engin
... e bay. The vehicle stalled completely and lost all motive power, creating an imminent highway safety hazard. The Physical Damage: Subsequent mechanical teardown by the dealership revealed terminal block destruction, including deep vertical cylinder wall scoring, heavy unburnt liquid gasoline residue in the engine oil pan, and a blown head gasket.Relationship to Active Safety Defect: This catastrophic engine failure mirrors the progressive failure profile of NHTSA Campaign 25V455 / Ford Safety Recall 25S75 (Low-Pressure Fuel Pump Failure). In this EcoBoost architecture, the Active Grill Shutter (AGS) module shares critical voltage paths, grounding blocks, and wiring looms with the engine management and fuel delivery systems. The sudden network communication loss is diagnostic proof of a severe voltage drop or electrical short caused by the high-friction fuel pump degradation detailed in Recall 25S75. This circuit failure instantly starved the engine of fuel under turbo boost, inducing an extreme lean-out condition. The resulting pre-ignition forces violently shattered the internal piston rings (the loud banging), which then gouged the cylinder walls, wiped out compression, fouled the crankcase with fuel residue, and blew the head gasket.Request for Action: Ford's current VIN parameters for Recall 25S75 have not yet captured my specific vehicle despite it matching the exact production window, component setup, and catastrophic failure sequence. I am requesting that the NHTSA log this case as definitive evidence of consequential engine destruction originating from the 25V455 fueRead more

My new vehicle, with under 4,000 miles, has already suffered multiple chewed wires due to rodents attracted to the soy-based wire coatings used by the manufacturer. This is not a minor inconvenience — it is a serious safety issue. Damaged wiring can cause loss of power steering mid-drive, ABS and braking system malfunctions, airbag deployment failures, engine stalling on highways, and electrical
... fires — any of which can result in injury or death. The manufacturer knows soy-based coatings attract rodents, the consequences are safety-critical, and proven mitigations exist (capsaicin-infused coatings, hardened sheathing, metal conduit) yet are not implemented from the factory. If vehicles are engineered to withstand foreseeable environmental hazards like water intrusion, heat, and road debris, there is no justification for leaving critical wiring defenseless against a well-documented and predictable threat. A material choice known to invite damage, paired with insufficient physical barriers, is not an external cause — it is a design flaw.Read more

While operating the vehicle under load, the vehicle suffered a sudden and severe loss of engine performance, followed immediately by loud metallic banging from the engine bay. The vehicle lost all power and was immediately disabled (LIMP MODE), presenting an imminent highway safety hazard. The Physical Damage: Subsequent mechanical teardown revealed deep vertical cylinder wall scoring, heavy raw fu

Relationship to Active Safety Defect: This catastrophic block failure perfectly mirrors the progressive failure profile of NHTSA Campaign 25V455 / Ford Safety Recall 25S75 (Low-Pressure Fuel Pump Failure). Internal component degradation in the fuel tank delivery module dropped fuel pressure to the engine. Under turbo boost, this starvation induced an extreme, instantaneous lean-out condition. The resulting low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) exploded and shattered the internal piston rings (the metallic banging), leading to mechanical wall gouging, unburnt fuel wash into the lower crankcase, and a secondary blown head gasket. Request for Action: Ford's current VIN parameters for Recall 25S75 have not yet captured my specific vehicle despite it matching the exact production window, component setup, and catastrophic failure sequence. My safety, as well as the safety of my children and family, is under constant, severe threat. Furthermore, the manufacturer has failed to provide a comparable, safe, or adequ
... ate utility rental vehicle to mitigate our loss of use while we wait indefinitely for these remedies. There were no warning lights or prior symptoms before the recall. This vehicle is actively subject to three major, concurrent manufacturer safety recalls carrying critical safety risks: NHTSA Campaign 25V-741 (Stellantis 68C) for high-voltage hybrid battery fire risk; NHTSA Campaign 25V-766 (Stellantis 78C) for engine casting sand contamination causing catastrophic engine failure; and the recently issued June 04, 2026 recall, NHTSA Campaign 26V-363 (FCA 21D), for an Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPSP) electrical short circuit and fire risk. The combined safety risk of these defects is severe, including spontaneous vehicle fire while driving or parked, and sudden, catastrophic engine seizure leading to an unrecoverable loss of propulsion at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request and has been evaluated by an authorized manufacturer dealership. The dealer confirmed that the safety recalls apply to this specific vehicle. Out of an abundance of caution, the manufacturer has issued strict, overlapping instructions for both the battery and the EHPSP defects, advising owners to park the vehicle outside and away from structures or other vehicles until a remedy is obtained. Furthermore, for the engine sand contamination defect, the manufacturer has explicitly stated that a definitive repair remedy is not yet available, leaving the vehicle with a permanent risk of sudden mechanical failure or an engine-compartment thermal event.Read more

reporting a safety issue with BMW vehicles equipped with the B58TU engine, primarily 2019-2021 models. These vehicles have an oil pump with an internal plastic component that regulates oil pressure, and this part is fracturing in the field, causing sudden loss of oil pressure. The failure typically occurs during cold starts in low temperatures. When it fails, oil pressure becomes erratic or is los
... t entirely, often with little to no warning before engine damage or vehicle disablement. Warning signs, when present, include inability to measure oil level electronically, abnormal oil pressure, or sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. These can rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe damage from oil starvation. This creates a dangerous situation because the vehicle can become disabled without warning while driving or after startup. This is especially hazardous when cars become immobilized in traffic or during winter conditions when failures occur most frequently, leaving occupants exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Pump replacement requires extensive disassembly and commonly costs $6,000-$8,000, assuming no engine damage. A critical concern: owners cannot determine if their vehicle has the original plastic pump or the later metal revision. BMW's VIN-based parts lookup now shows updated components even when original plastic parts remain installed, and BMW has removed the original plastic part number from dealer networks entirely. Failures are reported across multiple production years, and the scope of affected vehicles remains unclear. Because this condition causes sudden vehicle disablement without adequate warning, especially in cold weather, I believe this warrants investigation as a potential safety-related defect.Read more

It’s very scary to have a vehicle that can catch fire with all of the electrical issues currently has That have never been corrected.Read more

On May 25, 2026, while driving my 2016 Acura RDX AWD on the interstate at highway speed, it suddenly began running rough and felt as if I was driving over low, spaced-out speed bumps. The check engine light started flashing, and multiple safety-system warnings appeared, including AWD System Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Electric Power Steering (EPS) Pr
... oblem, and lane-keeping warnings. The vehicle lost normal performance, and I was concerned about safely continuing in interstate traffic. The interstate shoulder was narrow, and the shoulder was ending where traffic was merging onto another busy interstate. I pulled over as soon as I could safely do so. The vehicle was then towed to the dealership for diagnosis. The Acura dealership diagnosed internal engine damage, cylinder misfires, and broken piston rings and advised that the engine required replacement. The vehicle had approximately 170,526 miles at the time of failure. Prior to this incident, the vehicle was operating normally, had been regularly maintained, and had not been involved in any collision. There was no indication that an engine failure was imminent. After researching the issue, I learned that Acura and Honda have issued technical service bulletins and warranty extensions involving certain J35 V6 engines equipped with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), addressing conditions including excessive oil consumption, piston ring problems, spark plug fouling, and cylinder misfires. I am submitting this complaint because a sudden engine failure while operating at highway speed presents a potential safety risk. The failure also caused multiple vehicle systems and warning messages to activate simultaneously. The vehicle is currently available for inspection.Read more

I took my 2021 Kia Soul to the dealership for a piston ring recall; they ran their standard test and said it passed, but my car is still showing a misfire fault. I replaced the ignition coil, spark plug, and fuel injector, yet the problem persists. I’ve taken it back to the Kia dealership twice, but they refuse to inspect it because it already passed their test.

While driving, the vehicle suddenly lost power and stalled. I was able to safely pull to the side of the road. The engine would not restart. Upon inspection, the engine was found to be completely out of oil despite being maintained according to recommended oil change intervals and not being overdue for service. There were no visible oil leaks under the vehicle and no prior low oil warning light o
... r oil pressure warning light was observed before the failure. The vehicle had previously been serviced by a Kia dealership for turbocharger-related concerns, including turbocharger boost control and wastegate actuator issues. The dealership later diagnosed the vehicle with a burnt valve in cylinder #1 and recommended complete engine replacement. I am concerned because this vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption without sufficient warning to prevent engine failure. The vehicle stalled while being driven, creating a potential safety hazard due to sudden loss of power in traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection. The failure has been confirmed by a Kia dealership service department.Read more

The engine vibrates/shutters when switching from electric to gas. It almost feels like the engine is going to fall out. I’ve taken it to two different Honda dealerships multiple times and since they can’t duplicate the issue while it’s there then they say there’s nothing they can do. The oil also looks and smells like gas.

When checking the oil, realized that there was no antifreeze in the reservoir. I went ahead and filled it to the max line, as the antifreeze didn't even come up to the minimum line of the reservoir tank. My gut was telling me that I need to every so often check the antifreeze, there was no apparent leak, there was nothing on my garage floor to indicate that there was a leak. Every time I checked
... the antifreeze, it was below the minimum line. I had also been noticing that my car was shifting hard. the rpms were randomly jumping higher than normal when I was maintaining a normal speed. When I go to start my car, the whole car shakes as though the engine is misfiring. When I took the car in to a mechanic, they looked it over and I was told that I needed to replace the long engine block due to a coolant intrusion into the cylinder. The car will sometimes show the check engine light and sometimes it just goes off. I had the check engine light come up before and was told after having it hooked up at Auto Zone that I just needed a tune up.Read more

Our vehicle has stalled at stop lights several times over the past 6 years. The auto stop/start feature seems to fail. The vehicle will shut off but when you repeat the brake it will not restart and the vehicle will die completely. You have to put it in park, wait a few seconds and try and restart. Additionally it has completely died at gas station after turning it off to refuel. When you go to st

Honda acts like this is unheard of but our own research indicates it is a common well known problem with new Odyssey models.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue involving my vehicle. For an extended period of time, this vehicle has experienced recurring starting failures. On multiple occasions, the vehicle would not start, requiring service visits to the dealership. Despite repeated repair attempts, the dealership was unable to identify the root cause of the problem and typically performed on
... ly software updates. I was repeatedly informed that no specific defect could be found.Recently, the issue escalated into a much more dangerous event. While driving, the engine suddenly shut down without warning. The loss of engine power occurred during normal vehicle operation and created a significant safety hazard. This unexpected engine shutdown could have resulted in a collision, serious injury, or loss of vehicle control, particularly if it had occurred in heavy traffic or at highway speeds. What is especially concerning is that this incident appears to be related to the same unresolved condition that has resulted in multiple prior service visits. The vehicle has a documented history of similar symptoms, yet the underlying cause has never been identified or permanently corrected.Based on the repeated failures, unsuccessful repair attempts, and the recent engine shutdown while driving, I am concerned that this vehicle may have a safety-related defect affecting its reliability and safe operation. I am submitting this complaint so that the issue can be investigated and evaluated for potential broader safety implications. The vehicle continues to cause concern whenever it is driven because there is no assurance that the engine will not shut down again unexpectedly.Read more

Received third notification of recall for the vehicle that I purchased from Don Jackson Jeep Cummings, GA on March 2024 by NHTSA. The first two recall warnings were 68C and 78C that Jeep stated was remedy via software. Software cannot guarantee that no electrical battery nor engine/transmission issue b/c the check engine light came on and vehicle kept at JEEP Morrow dealership for approximately 6
... weeks. Notified approximately June 20, 2026, of third recall 26V363. I have requested and had several cases open with Jeep Customer Care requesting a buyback or trade in assistance due to negative equity in the vehicle due to uncertain of fire safety issue and concern that could potentially affect the general public, neighbors, daughter, self, and dwellings (e.g. home and community). The vehicle makes loud sounds, smell like smoke due to electrical fire, decrease in speed during acceleration, etc. Constant fear of family, neighbors, public safety, and self. "Begging" Jeep Customer Care to help me transition into another safe vehicle. Constantaly met with opposition and excuses like being told by two different managers (Darrel and Michael) that they have the final decision and no one that I can escalate my legitimate complaint. Requested in writing several times from Jeep customer care to put in writing why I am not eligible for a buyback, trade in assistance, help with negative equity, etc. No response. Cases closed. Due to the multiple recalls on Jeep 200-2024 wranglers for fire safety issues and no guarantee that a fire nor transmission or motor issues will occur, requesting NHTSA mandate that Stellantis remove these vehicle off the road and recall all these vehicles and make each customer who purchased these dangers vehicles whole instead of investing 71 billion dollars to revamp a company. Start with removing the vehicle that they knew had these issues into the market for the general public to purchase before someone gets serious injured and/or killed.Read more
