On 6-7 separate occasions, my 2025 Ranger had a sudden and complete loss of accelerator response while slowing down to make a left turn. This also happens on occasion at traffic lights when the light turns and I attempt to turn left. The duration of loss of power has increased with each incident and is very frightening when it occurs. When attempting to accelerate across the road, there was no r
... esponse or power from the engine to get me through traffic. On each occasions, the safety of everyone in my vehicle as well members of the public were at great risk. It is only by good luck that these engine failure incidents did not cause a serious crash. The local Ford dealer has been unable to identify the problem. Until and unless the Ford Dealer can replicate the problem, I am unable to get the problem resolved. In the meantime, I feel that I my life is at risk every time I drive my truck. There were no warnings from the vehicle about this loss of power and the randomness of this causes great fear when driving. The incident appears to be the same as Recall 26V343000, Loss of Drive Power from Engine Failure, which does not include my specific VIN.Read more

Over the past several months my truck 2023 toyota tundra has randomly died, completely shut off and sputtered to a stop. After these instances occurred the vehicle has had trouble to re-start. I have given the service manager Ryan Wingert the total background of what has happened verbally several times, outlining the vehicle randomly just shutting down and not being able to re-start until several minutes has past and computer reset occurs. I feel that the vehicle is un safe to drive and toyota is not honoring any proactive follow up with my claim, stating that the dealerships have not been trained on the procedures to perform the work or the repair and pointing toward toyota corporate offices for a fix. I'm exaughsted from the endless loop and I want to ensure I receive a safe and reliable vehicle back from toyota. To date, the dealership has had my truck in there possession over two months with no resolution. Vehicle purchased new off the showroom floor with 22 miles, driven locally only and garage kept. The check engine light immediately turned on and started flashing and the engined bogged down and stopped. The dealership towed it to their shop and witness the rough idle themselves
... . When diagnosing the fault, it was confirmed 3 cylinders were misfiring due to "catalytic converter sensor" that triggered the engine to misfire for "protection reasons". The dealership checked the distributor and spark plug wires with no issues found, ultimately they reset the code which immediately returned the engine to proper function and idling. They drove it for 60 miles confirming proper function. Their "theory" is possible bad gas could have been put in the engine prior to the dealership buying the vehicle?? We told the dealership that we have not even put gas in the vehicle ourselves yet thus no fault on us for this postulated issue.Read more

I own a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan with approximately 24,000 miles that was purchased used with only 2,300 miles and a clean title. The vehicle has developed significant oil consumption/seepage issues related to the EA888 2.0T engine. It began with oil seeping around the oil fill tube and cap due to a failed crankcase pressure assembly (PCV/oil separator). I replaced it myself with genuine Volkswagen
... parts, but the oil level continues to drop after normal driving, indicating either a residual leak or excessive consumption. The dealership denied warranty coverage over the phone solely because the vehicle was in a prior accident (repaired with OEM parts), without performing any inspection or oil consumption test. This appears to be a known defect in these engines. Volkswagen considers up to 1 quart every 1,200 miles “normal,” which I believe is unreasonable for a near-new vehicle. I am concerned about long-term engine damage and safety if oil levels drop critically while driving. Please investigate this matter for a potential recall or safety action.Read more

I am wanting to share my concerns about my 2019 Ford Edge. My Edge has 64,500 miles on it and the transmission needs replacing; it is sitting in my back driveway. My daughter and I just made it home from a trip when the transmission gave out - when we pulled into the driveway, and it was still in gear, it put itself into park! We tried to put it in drive and reverse and again, as we were watchi

Before that, I had noticed some issues about jerking and revving up so I took it to the nearest Ford dealership - after hooking it up to the computer several times (while it was UNDER 60,000 miles on the odometer), the dealership told me that they changed a few things on the computer and 'it would drive like hell for a while, but it will get used to my driving and get better' !! After contacting them more, they told me that it needed a new throttle body. I wanted a second opinion so a friend trailered it to another Ford dealership and they tested the transmission liquids and told me that it needs a new transmission. (It was now over 60K.) Ford said that if I would pay them $4500, they MIGHT cover the other the $4500 for the new transmission. I had my Edge for about a year when this happened and now it has been sitting in my driveway since last summer!! I am still making the monthly payment on it, plus full coverage insurance for a pretty driveway ornament. My friend found paperwork regarding transmissions like mine having troubles (and he showed it to the local dealership - they did nothing) so I have been watching for recalls on the transmission. If you have any suggestions, etc please let me know - I do not have $4500 to fix my car...... When this all started, I contacted Ford and started a case on it. (8/26/24). Case #XXX. Purchased 2019 Chevrolet Silverado High Country Edition with the 6.2L engine and 143K miles for my son. The vehicle had a clean service history on Car Fax. On the day we purchased the vehicle, we drove it home and noticed it was shuttering at times. I used my computer scanner and it came back with a misfire cylinder #5. I troubleshot the issues and noted that the most common thing was a spark plug
... . Therefore, I replaced the spark plug and it drove much better. Two weeks later, my son was driving vehicle on I-40 near Nashville TN and without warning, vehicle stalled, locking steering wheel in place! Check engine lights came on and instructed him to place in neutral and restart, which he promptly did. The vehicle started, but went in limp mode making loud noises in engine before shutting off again. Luckily, traffic was minimal at 8 pm and he was able to get it over to the shoulder and avoid any injuries or accident. Towed it to Nick Mayer Chevrolet in Dickson, TN where they diagnosed it with catastrophic engine failure and needed to be completely replaced. This is the same issue that GM is being sued for and have somehow managed to take the stance that the lifter/cam/DFM issue only existed in 2020-newer models. The 2019 is when they changed to the newer body style and the new Gen V L87 engine in the 6.2. Despite the clean vehicle history, dealership reached out to GM and they stated they would not help cover any repairs but would gladly take 14K to fix it. During a 2 hour drive, my 2017 Honda CRV EXL had all lights pop up on the dash and we experienced a sudden loss of acceleration on the highway. Me and my girlfriend were left stranded for hours two hours away fr
... om home. This was a manufacturing defect that put me and my girlfriends lives at risk, this issue occured suddenly when we were travelling at highway speeds. The sudden flash of all dash lights during the incident were distracting as well as the situation incredibly worrying and could have caused us to crash. Even though we were able to stop safely, the situation has still created a lasting mental effect on me, as I have to carry the burden and trauma of the event with no reimbursment from Honda. There were no signs that could have told us this was going to happen as I have taken great care of the car, as it is my first car that I bought, and it is completely unaccetpable to have this happen to me when the car is only at 77,000 miles. The dealership did a diagnosis and the repair bill from the dealership to fix the turbo and intercooler is $5,000, and it is completely unacceptable that this even happened. I have taken great care of the car and a catastrophic failure of the engine system left us stranded for hours where we could not get any help. This has taken a huge toll on my mental state, and the car is left sitting at the dealership due to the completely unreasonable price tag of repair for an issue that is a known manufacturing issue, we have not gotten any reimbursment for the repair. It is unreasoble and unaccetpable to put the cost of repair on the driver who had no way to avoid this life-threatening manufacturing defect.Read more

Check engine light solid/engine failure while driving. 2018 Sonata SE purchased new in fall 2018. Around 50,000 miles started noticing oil level drop and had to add more before next scheduled change. Dealership service center said I just had to shorten the mileage between changes which didn't seem appropriate for a vehicle with 50,000 miles but I did. Continued to have oil consumption problem with
... no signs of leak, no burning oil smell or exhaust issues. Dashboard display would go off and when I immediately checked dipstick there was barely any oil so I'd add more then go in for full change. At 67,000 or so miles in June 2026, without oil display going off the engine light was now solid. Got to reputable service center near my home and oil was under a quart left yet the warning lamp hadn't gone off. They ran the engine error code P0304 and was misfire #4 cylinder and after compression test, #3 was very low and #4 very high. NOT drivable at that point then towed to dealership so yes, available for inspection by NHTSA at the dealership. For now they claim a 'tune up' is needed for spark plug replacement, valve cover gasket replace and fuel induction service that's my cost to incur which seems to just be fixing the damage of an engine oil consumption problem not fixing the issue that caused the damage. The engine seized/stalled without warning while I was driving the vehicle (granted at low speed in my neighborhood when the engine light turned on). I would not say the engine warning lamp occurred prior to the engine fail, it happed at the same time. This should not happen for a vehicle with my mileage and regular maintenance. I looked up NHTSA for potential recall or other helpful information and started to see extremely similar scenarios to mine and wanted to add complaint as well. This is getting very expensive outside of whatever cost the dealer wants as a fix with rental car needed and tow services. Thank you for your consideration of this engine safety issue.Read more

I bought this car from a private seller and he claimed the vehicle was in good condition. A day later the car has been dying on me while driving. Nothing shows on the check engine that something is wrong with it. The car will start and able to drive but then will die on me again. How do I find if it's covered under a recall?

Last year (2025) we were on a trip to Minneapolis, MN when our vehicle randomly stalled out on us. It would allow us to start it up again immediately, but stalled again shortly after. Each time it stalled, the dash lights would pop up and the engine would immediately stall and die. We had the car fixed in a pinch, and the diagnosis was a crank shaft error. Fast forward to this past weekend, our
... car stalled again in traffic, with the dash lights coming on and the engine immediately dying. This time, we were unable to start the vehicle again to get it to a safe location, so ended up pushing it in neutral to the closest convenience store and have the vehicle towed to a Jeep dealer. Upon inspection of the car, the diagnosis was again a bad crank shaft sensor causing erratic readings and needing to be replaced. Having the same issue twice on the same vehicle, we looked into possible recalls that we had previously missed. We found that our VIN does not qualify for any past or present recalls. However, we did find a recall for 2016 Jeep Patriots that addressed the faulty crank shaft sensors (NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000). Having had this same issue twice, our vehicle is clearly being affected by root cause which the above recall was based on. Knowing that, it's hard to believe our vehicle doesn't qualify for this recall, and we would like that recall service extended to our VIN, especially since the issue has happened on multiple occasions.Read more

On XXX, while I was operating my 2019 Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT (GL1800D, VIN [XXX]) on the freeway at approximately ~26k miles, the motorcycle suddenly lost drive and came to a stop and could not be restarted, leaving me stranded on the freeway — the same type of sudden power-loss hazard that Safety Recall 24V-820 was issued to prevent. The motorcycle had to be towed. Approximately 1,000 miles e
... arlier, on 9/30/2026, Tri-County Powersports (Moorpark, CA) had performed NHTSA Safety Recall 24V-820 on this motorcycle, replacing the primary drive gear bolt on the crankshaft as the recall remedy. After the failure, the motorcycle was taken to Tri-County Powersports on April 22, 2026 (Repair Order XXX). The dealer's technician reported unusual engine noise, confirmed the motorcycle would not drive forward, removed the clutch cover, and found it full of metal debris. A large portion of the debris is aluminum, and the failure is located in the primary-drive and dual-clutch area — the same region serviced under Recall 24V-820 about 1,000 miles before the failure. The dealer estimated approximately $7,167 to remove the engine, replace both dual-clutch assemblies and the oil pump, and flush the oil system. Because this catastrophic failure occurred in the same area addressed by Recall 24V-820, only about 1,000 miles after the recall remedy was performed, I believe this is a failure or recurrence of the recalled defect following the remedy. The motorcycle was properly maintained with regular oil changes (records available). Repair orders and photographs of the debris and failed components are available on request. My 2016 Kia Optima equipped with the 2.4L DOHC I4 GDI engine began to experience progressive and severe oil consumption during the latter part of my ownership. The oil warning light began activating repeatedly, even after shortly getting the oil changed. Several certified mechanics and oil change service stations told me this was an ongoing issue with this car and engine and that there was nothin
... g I could do but monitor it and keep it filled. At their instruction, I monitored and had it changed more frequently, often topping it off at the oil change station and at home when needed. Approximately 2 weeks after an oil change upon putting the car in reverse it started to shake uncontrollably. The car was towed to a mechanic who stated I needed an engine. I then towed it to an authorized Kia franchise dealership where the technician documented the oil consumption complaint, confirmed a Cylinder 2 misfire code, performed a borescope inspection, and found the Cylinder 2 exhaust valve burnt with a chunk missing. Engine replacement was recommended by the Kia dealership technician. Prior to my purchase, the engine had already been replaced at approximately 80,000 miles under recall-related circumstances. The replacement engine installed by a Kia dealership subsequently failed, exhibiting symptoms consistent with the documented widespread defect affecting the 2.4L DOHC I4 GDI engine in 2016 Kia Optima vehicles, including severe oil consumption, cylinder misfire, and catastrophic internal engine damage confirmed via borescope at a Kia franchise dealership. Kia America denied the claim based solely on mileage despite the damage being confirmed by their franchise technician. My vehicle became unsafe to drive due to this engine instability shortly after starting before becoming fully inoperable. My vehicle has been non-operational for approximately 5 months. Kia has not provided a substantive written determination despite a formal written demand submitted in March 2026.Read more

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving diagnostic code P1326. My vehicle developed engine knocking and little to no acceleration and appeared to enter a reduced-power or limp-mode condition while driving. This made it difficult to merge, maintain speed, and travel safely in traffic, creating a risk of collision or becoming stranded in an unsafe location. Based on publicly available Hyunda
... i materials, code P1326 is associated with the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) and may indicate abnormal engine vibration, possible bearing-related engine damage, and reduced-power operation. Those materials also indicate that certain vehicles were eligible for software updates, inspection, and possible engine repair or replacement. I request that this issue be documented as a safety complaint and that the dealership perform a full diagnostic inspection, determine whether my vehicle qualifies for any applicable campaign or warranty extension, and provide appropriate repairs.Read more

Van made a loud pop noise and lost power. The HSG belt tensioner spring fell off it's seat loosing tension on the HSG belt. Was unsafe but luckily it happened before getting on the freeway, and coasted into a parking lot. Yes, it's at the dealership getting a replacement tensioner and belt. I believe so. No notification prior to failure, it was sudden.
