The vehicle suffered an unexpected loss of engine compression and dropped into a dangerous Limp Mode while driving due to a Cylinder 3 Misfire code (P0303). The manufacturer dealership misdiagnosed the mechanical issue using an unrelated 2.0L engine service bulletin (SB23-026) to clear the error. Six months later, the dashboard completely illuminated again with code P0299 (Turbocharger Underboost)
... caused by progressive pressure and compression loss across the 1.5L turbo engineering components. Upon post-visit inspection, engine fluids were found severely depleted. This ongoing engineering failure causes a sudden loss of vehicle motive power on public highways, creating a severe, recurring safety hazard that mirrors the active federal engine defect class-action litigation against American Honda Motor Co. This has happened 4 times with all the lights on my dash coming on Dec 2025, May 2026, June 2026 (2x)Read more

While driving my vehicle on a two-lane highway, I experienced multiple sequential electronic system failures (including the vehicle no longer detecting the smart key), and all electronic systems on the car became inoperative. I lost all instrumentation, including my speedometer and tachometer. At the same time, I also experienced a loss of motive power, and the engine of the vehicle began running
... extremely erratically before completely cutting off. I attempted to make a safe stop on the side of the road, but after doing so, could not restart the vehicle. The electrical systems of the vehicle continued to behave erratically, and the engine would not restart. I contacted roadside assistance, but they were unable to start the vehicle as well. It was towed to my local Hyundai dealership, but instead of expressing any genuine concern for the significant risk I endured while being placed In harm's way, they refused to fully diagnose the vehicle, and instead accused me of "jumping in reverse," even though I did no such thing (and don't even know what that means). The dealership has no evidence to suggest any such event took place, and simply wants me to pay over $1,800 for replacement of the battery connection terminals, despite being in-warranty. Obviously, the vehicle was already running – there is no way that the dealership's false allegations could possibly be correct. I contacted Hyundai Motor America and was assigned a caseworker, but they were not interested in finding a resolution, and unable to compel the servicing dealership to perform a full diagnostic or provide warranty service. Feeling that I was running out of options for the vehicle to be properly diagnosed, I contacted the dealership where I purchased the car, and provided the photographic evidence & service documentation required. They agreed that there's no way that I could have created this issue, and that further investigation is warranted, but HMA only cares about money – not my or my family's safety.Read more

I own a 2017 Lincoln MKZ equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. At approximately [MILEAGE] miles, the vehicle began experiencing loss of coolant, rough running/misfire, shaking/rough start, and reduced engine performance. The vehicle was diagnosed by a Ford/Lincoln dealership as having coolant intrusion into the engine/cylinders and/or engine block failure, requiring engine/long-block replacement
... . The estimated repair cost was approximately $8000. This creates a safety concern because coolant intrusion can cause misfires, overheating, engine damage, and possible loss of power while driving. Ford/Lincoln has issued Technical Service Bulletin 19-2346 and superseding bulletin 22-2229 for 2017–2019 Lincoln MKZ vehicles equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. These bulletins describe low coolant, white exhaust smoke, rough running, misfire codes, overheating codes, and coolant intrusion into the cylinder, with the prescribed repair being long-block engine replacement. Despite this known documented condition, Lincoln/Ford denied assistance because the vehicle is outside warranty. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect because the failure can occur without adequate warning and may cause engine overheating, misfire, or loss of power while the vehicle is being operated.Read more

At approximately 2,900 miles, during the first oil change/service, the factory-installed spin-on oil filter could not be removed normally. The oil filter required approximately one hour of removal effort and would not spin off in a normal manner. When the filter was finally removed, the oil filter threaded adapter/union came out of the engine-side oil filter housing while still seized inside the o
... il filter. The adapter threads showed visible damage, including flattened, galled, and torn thread areas. The oil filter was seized tightly enough to the adapter that the oil filter had to be cut away from the adapter to separate the parts. The adapter was removed from the filter without adding further damage. The damaged adapter threads were cleaned/chased only as a temporary repair because the vehicle was needed for work and parts were not immediately available over the weekend. A new correct replacement oil filter was test-fitted to the adapter. It threaded fully onto the adapter by hand but had slight binding in the previously damaged thread area. The filter was installed, the engine was started, and the assembly was checked for leaks. No leak was observed during the temporary service check. However, the adapter remains damaged and should be replaced. This appears to be a manufacturing, assembly, or original filter installation issue, because the vehicle had only approximately 2,900 miles and the factory-installed oil filter was seized to the oil filter threaded union. The filter should not be seized to the adapter at this mileage, and the threaded adapter should not be pulled out of the engine-side housing during normal oil filter removal. The concern is that a damaged or improperly threaded oil filter adapter could cause oil filter sealing failure, oil leakage, loss of engine oil pressure, engine damage, or an oil leak onto the roadway. The damaged threaded oil filter adapter/union should be documented as a factory/dealer assembly defect.Read more

The engine failed and is now inoperable. The vehicle has been consuming excessive oil since I purchased it in 2022. I have all oil change records and top offs documented. In May 2026 the engine had a total failure, was making excessive noise, was shuddering and vibrating, blowing lots of smoke from the exhaust and then would not start. The check engine light came on. I towed it to Roseville Kia f

They did not follow the NHTSA engine replacement flowchart past flowchart A because code p1326 was not present. However the flowchart specifies engine noise and failure to turn over qualify the technician to perform flowcharts B and C. Kia is refusing to complete the diagnosis and evaluate the rod bearings for damage, which would likely qualify the engine for replacement under warranty.Read more

I perform all maintenance on my vehicles, I have previously been a ASE Certified Master Technician, so I know engines and vehicles very well. Vehicle is outside of current engine recall window due to the engine build date being July 15, 2024. Engine was over maintained, oil and oil filter changed 6 times in 17,732 miles, first oil and filter change performed at 544 miles, when 5W30 oil was put in
... engine, installed a magnetic drain plug and installed Filter Mags on oil filter. Ran 5W30 oil for 2 oil changes, then moved to 0W40 oil. Oil analysis performed for each oil change. Results were looking acceptable up until the next to last oil change at 13,801 miles. Changed engine oil and filter on 6/12/2026 @17,732 miles. Found a heavy build up of metal particles on the magnetic drain plug and when oil filter was cut open there was a heavy build up of metal particles where the Filter Mags were located and the filter element had fine metal particles in entire engine oil filter element. The engine has made no noise and is still running, but based on the evidence the engine is currently failing and if I would have continued to drive it, the engine would likely lock up on the highway. CLEARLY GM DID NOT solve the crankshaft problem July 1, 2024 and CLEARLY using a higher viscosity oil like 0W40 will not keep these engines from failing. If I would have continued to drive the vehicle and if I would have not changed oil and found metal in the oil, this engine would have absolutely failed on the highway. This vehicle has over 80% highway use.Read more

2018 Chrysler Pacifica with the 3.6L V6 engine had a check engine light turn. At same time a vibration started, which was most noticable when the car was in idle. Also, a foggy exhaust started at the same time. No temperature or other warnings were occuring. After driving it to the repair facility the car was not able to be turned on. The findings are that there is a headgasket leak and radiator
... failure that resulted in coolant entering into the cylinder. That resulted in either hydrolock or engine overheating, causing engine failure. Again no temperature warning or other indication of a major issue was provided. The likely repair is a full engine and radiator replacement. It appears that many other Chrysler Pacifica vehicles have reported similar issues with the 3.6L Pentastar engine. No recall is currently available for the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica for this issue, however, it looks like the older versions (~2011-2013) have had a recall for similar issues. I have reached out to Chrysler Corporate and requested support on this repair.Read more

My truck has the L87 motor on recall. i purchased it brand new and paid top dollar for it. I've had issues since I've bought it. All of my maintenance has always been done at the dealership from regular maintenance to purchasing brand new tires. I am very disappointed to have a truck that concerns to drive, i do not take my family out in my truck because i am not confident in its reliability and
... safety. multiple times i've taken my truck in for service and let them know to complete an oil change, tire rotation and to check an issue with a "tick, clunk and knock" just to be told it was "normal for the 6.2". my normal dealership has blocked off appointments online and you'd have to call to try to set one up. I demanded a diagnostic one time when the truck was acting weird and the tech stated "stop by, i'll squeeze you in" in which i did. however, i wasn't given any documentation since "i didn't have an appointment". After reviewing all of my service records, i come to notice not once time did they mention they did a diagnostic check. Only the recall test shows on one of the service records. I've had 3 different viscosity oils in my motor from the dealer stating GM recommended it. I had to night drop my truck on June 14 as it was making a weird noise from the engine and it felt like it had less power. I waited 2 days and the dealer did not contact to even state they have my truck in service. when i called to ask the status i had to agree to text message communication in which they replied, "at best it will take 2 weeks just to look at it". I asked for a loaner since i need a truck for work and transportation, they replied they do not have any and I will be placed on a list. My truck is still under original powertrain warranty and they cannot even provide a loaner. i feel that they are brushing me off to buy time and here i am making hefty car and insurance payments for a truck i do not have nor a truck that I NEED to provide for my family. I am filing this complaint regarding a major engine failure in my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 equipped with the 5.3L V8 engine. At approximately 56,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a failed valve lifter, resulting in loud engine ticking, a check engine light, loss of power, and unsafe driving conditions. The vehicle was no longer operating properly and required immediate repair. Although the
... vehicle had been regularly maintained and had relatively low mileage for such a significant engine issue, I was informed that the failed lifter damaged the camshaft and related engine components, requiring extensive repairs. The total cost of the repair was $6,180, which I paid out of pocket. My Silverado was just outside Chevrolet's 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty period by time, despite having only 56,000 miles. A major internal engine failure should not occur on a well-maintained vehicle with such low mileage. After researching this issue, I discovered that lifter failures involving the Active Fuel Management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) systems in GM's 5.3L engines have been widely reported by other Chevrolet Silverado owners. This indicates a potential design or manufacturing defect rather than normal wear and tear. I am requesting that General Motors provide reimbursement or goodwill assistance for all or a substantial portion of the $6,180 repair cost. I believe customers should not be responsible for paying thousands of dollars to repair a known issue on a low-mileage vehicle. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and resolved promptly.Read more

The response by Stellantis is that this is "Normal" operation of the vehicle. I can 100% tell you this is not normal as neither of our 4xe's operated in this manner prior to the recall. I picked it up on June 18, 2026, and within 24 hours the same loss‑of‑propulsion failure happened again. The vehicle is now back at the dealer. I own a 2017 Ford Escape with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. Beginning around December 2025 through January 2026, the vehicle began exhibiting symptoms consistent with coolant intrusion into the engine. Engine coolant continually disappears from the reservoir despite no visible external leak. However, at the time I did not know think it was a coolant intrusion. It wasn't until I took my car to the Ford
... dealer in June that I started researching things online. Prior to the June diagnosis, I also took the vehicle to Denny Menholt in January and February 2026 for inspection due to the same concerns. At that time, they were unable to determine the cause of the issue. As the condition has worsened, the engine runs rough and frequently vibrates, rumbles, and shakes while driving. The vehicle occasionally misfires and loses power. There have also been instances where the vehicle accelerates more aggressively than expected when pressing the gas pedal and instances of unexpected downshifting while driving. These issues make the vehicle difficult to operate predictably and create a significant safety concern. The Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminated during this time. No other warning lights were displayed before the vehicle's condition worsened. I took the vehicle to a Ford dealership for diagnosis in June 2026. The dealership identified cylinder 1 and cylinder 4 misfire codes and performed a pressure test on the cooling system. The dealership determined that coolant is leaking into the cylinders and advised that Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 22-2229 applies to this condition. The dealership informed me that the engine requires complete replacement due to the coolant intrusion issue. The estimated repair cost is approximately $11,000. I am filing this formal complaint to request immediate NHTSA intervention regarding Nissan North America’s bad-faith denial of critical safety recall repairs on my 2023 Nissan Rogue. ... ecall Campaigns 26V-080 and 26V-081. By forcing me to drive a vehicle that exhibits violent engine shaking and severe, abnormal mechanical noise, Nissan is placing my safety and the safety of the motoring public at immediate risk. They are insisting that I continue operating a compromised vehicle until a catastrophic, total engine failure occurs on the highway. Detailed Timeline of Events and Defect Manifestation June 2025 (Vehicle Under Factory Warranty): The vehicle began exhibiting abnormal, excessively loud engine noises. I presented the vehicle to the authorized Nissan dealership for diagnosis. The service department dismissed the issue, claiming they "could not replicate" the noise, and released the vehicle back to me without repair. I captured digital video and audio recordings of the defect at this time to preserve empirical evidence. February 2026: NHTSA and Nissan announced recalls 26V-080 and 26V-081 specifically targeting the 1.5L and 2.0L VC-Turbo engines for main bearing failure, which causes violent engine shaking, severe noise, knocking, and sudden loss of motive power. [XXX]: As the engine noises worsened and progressed into violent engine shaking, I brought the Rogue back to the dealership service department. They admitted the vehicle was shaking excessively but claimed it was a "secondary issue" caused by a failing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. Manufactured/dealership explicitly stated that because they did not yet find metal shavings in the oil pan, they would not authorize the recall remedy. -Defective Starter. -Starter randomly fails to restart vehicle after being warmed up. -When the DC motor internal copper windings get heat soaked after being driven and warmed up, the motor's internal resistance gets too high to draw sufficient current to turn over engine properly. This happens when intentionally shutting off motor (ie. getting gas, going into a store then coming out in a few m
... inutes), the engine either will not crank at all, or cranks about two engine revolutions, will not start and then stops trying and remains in full accessory mode. It will not attempt a restart either. The only remedy is to fully shut down the vehicle, then try a fresh start after a few seconds. Sometimes it will start the engine, sometimes it will repeat the issue and you have to try again. This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS when this problem occurs when the vehicle is at an intersection or traffic light, shuts itself off due to the auto-start/stop, then fails to restart the engine when expected when the light turns green. Especially at traffic lights if you're the first car in line., and especially if you're the first car to go with traffic behind and in a single lane of traffic. Having to totally shut the car down, then do a fresh restart while blocking an intersection with tons of cars behind and all waiting on your car to decide if it wants to re-start with cars flying around you into the shoulder or ditch to get around is an extremely dangerous position to be in, forcing other drivers into doing ridiculous things to get around you and WILL if not already cause major accidents. I believe Honda knows this is an issue. They are blaming bad batteries and alternators which can easily be ruled out with independent battery and alternator testing in the vehicle, while the problem of no/slow cranking remains. The problem IS defective starters, that have or will absolutely cause accidents by stranding vehicles in intersections because of failures to restart.Read more
