I had the known reported issue TSB 25-BE-004G repaired and even after repair there is a burning wire smell that the dealer claims they can’t replicate. We had the same issue with Genesis Plano initially and after driving the vehicle out of state we were stranded and took it to Genesis of Peoria where the issue was diagnosed. We are encountering the issue again and it is a fire risk hazard.

Faulty head gasket. Car is 2020 honda crv with 113,000 miles on it. Brought it honda because the dashboard lit up and all lights came on. Honda inspected it and stated it was coolant leaking into cylinder 2 and my car has shown no issues if this happening. After doing research, many have mentioned faulty head gaskets in the 10 gen hondas.

I am writing to formally document a series of unresolved mechanical issues with my vehicle, culminating in a complete transmission failure, and to request assistance in resolving this matter. The timeline of events is detailed below: *Winter 2024: I first noticed a persistent buzzing sound originating from the engine compartment. Because this symptom primarily occurred during low ambient temperat
... ures, I initially attributed it to the cold weather. The mileage on this vehicle was around 50k miles. *Spring 2024: I contacted the dealership to report the noise. I was advised that the issue was likely related to a worn belt. Subsequent inspection, however, proved this diagnosis to be incorrect, and the root cause of the noise remained unresolved. *Fall 2024: The engine buzzing returned. Concurrently, a severe driveability issue emerged. On multiple occasions after shifting from Park to Drive, the vehicle failed to engage the gear properly, behaving as though it were in Neutral and preventing any acceleration. This would occur while driving and stopped at redlights, which posed a major safety concern as I was transporting my newborn and young child with me. * February 2025: The vehicle became entirely inoperable. Unfortunately, this failure occurred around 62k miles, AFTER my 60k mile warranty expired, (which i was unaware of). Given that these symptoms began during the winter of 2024 and were reported to the dealership early on, it is clear that the initial diagnostics failed to identify a developing and critical transmission defect. I conducted research and discovered this is a recurring issue with Toyota Highlanders, and other vehicles with the model UA80 transmission. Toyota posted a service bulletin, extending vehicles from 2017 & 2018 but have yet to address the 2019 through current models to date with reports of the same transmission issues.Read more

I completed the recall N252494003 on March 5th, 2026 which comprised of an engine inspection, higher viscosity oil, a new oil cap, filter replacement, and owner's manual insert. The engine intake tract, PCV infrastructure, and the main lower engine wiring harness loom failed due to improper reassembly during Federal Safety Recall 24V-608. The technician left the main intake coupler completely loose and spinning freely by hand, and left the MAF sensor crooked. This introduced a massive unmetered air leak and severe vacuum leaks. Simultaneously, the technician over-tensione
... d, pinched, or damaged the Cylinder 2 wiring loom components. The vehicle is currently parked dead and untouched at my residence, and it is 100% available for immediate federal or corporate inspection. The unsealed intake tract and damaged wiring harness caused the engine to run dangerously lean at highway speeds. This resulted in sudden, violent engine shuttering, rapid deceleration, severe mechanical engine knocking, and a terminal Cylinder 2 misfire. This component failure caused an immediate loss of vehicle propulsion on a high-speed public highway, creating an extreme risk of a high-speed collision and leaving the vehicle completely disabled. The issue has not yet been physically inspected by a third party because the vehicle is unsafe to drive. I went to the originating dealer (BMW of Henderson) in person on July 16, 2026, to coordinate a safety re-inspection under an active BMW North America Corporate Case. Dealership management actively obstructed the safety process, gave technically impossible justifications regarding the recall execution, and flatly refused to dispatch a complimentary flatbed tow. They attempted to hold the safety re-inspection hostage behind out-of-pocket customer towing costs and upfront retail diagnostic fees. There were 0 mechanical warnings or symptoms prior to the recall. The vehicle was meticulously maintained with 5,000-mile oil changes and a perfectly tight timing chain. The severe drivetrain malfunction warnings, violent front-end shaking, and terminal engine knocking appeared after picking up my car.Read more

The engine on this vehicle suffers from a severe oil consumption defect that was first officially reported to the authorized dealership on February 3, 2025 at approximately 90,000 miles while under the factory powertrain warranty. The vehicle completely empties its engine oil supply in under 1,000 miles of normal driving. Running entirely out of oil within such a short interval poses an imminent,
... extreme risk of sudden engine seizure, catastrophic mechanical failure, and sudden stalling at highway speeds. The manufacturer and dealership have physically documented this rapid depletion of oil over a 17-month period but are refusing to replace the defective components, instead attempting to force this unsafe vehicle back onto public roads for repetitive driving tests.Read more

After only 110,000 miles, my local Nissan service center (Advantage Nissan, 5101 Auto Center Blvd, Bremerton, WA 98312) states that the timing chain is loose. The repair estimate is in excess of $6000. The expense is because it requires removal of the engine to effect repairs. Research reveals that timing chain issues at 100000+ miles are common for this vehicle. It is the expectation that the
... timing chain system last the lifespan of the vehicle. The result is that owners pay more than half of the original price simply for maintenance because of Nissan's choice to use substandard parts in a critical system, a fact they learned with earlier models where timing chain issues and recalls occured. My 2018 Audi Q5 experienced significant water intrusion due to a failure of the panoramic sunroof drain system. Water entered the vehicle interior and traveled down into the electrical compartment, submerging the comfort module and damaging multiple wiring harnesses. This caused the vehicle to become inoperable and unable to start. Audi has issued Technical Service Bulletin 2075969/2 describing t
... his exact defect. The bulletin states that the sunroof drain hoses can be kinked during factory installation of the headliner, which blocks drainage and causes water to enter the vehicle. This is a manufacturing defect affecting multiple model years of the Audi Q5. In my case, the water intrusion caused electrical failure, loss of vehicle function, and required thousands of dollars in repairs. Audi declined to cover the defect and stated the vehicle was not maintained on schedule, even though maintenance has no relationship to kinked or improperly routed sunroof drains. This defect poses a safety risk because water intrusion into electrical components can cause sudden vehicle failure, electrical shorts, corrosion, and loss of critical systems. The failure occurred without warning. I am reporting this because the issue appears to be widespread, documented by Audi, and has the potential to disable vehicles unexpectedly.Read more

Driver had to use the emergency brake to make the other brakes release and then the brakes from there would not work even though you could stomp on them stand on top of them there was no breaking power anymore. Vehicle was brought into a GMC dealership on the following Monday where they confirmed the issue was a failed vacuum pump connected to the engine and camshaft which is a known safety issue to GMC as part of an ongoing open case they had specialty coverage and bulletins regarding the Tahoe and Sierra but neglected to include the terrain on this issue. Cold the GMC manufacturer in both [XXX] and [XXX] to try and get cost assistance and specialty coverage as the vehicle as well under the mileage requirements but have been giving the push around and zero assistance. The risk to the drivers and passengers lives was significant as we were on the highway for1.5 hrand thankfully the brake lost didn't happen in full during that time. The repairs were completed and paid for in full by the client which should have been covered by the dealership and we are looking for cost recuperation and are now being ignored. I brought my vehicle to an authorized dealer for three open safety recalls. Two were performed at no charge. The third, the VANOS adjustment unit screw connection recall, was not performed. The dealer stated in writing on the repair order that the vehicle has a broken valve cover bolt, that the valve cover will not seal properly, and that a new valve cover is recommended to complete the recall. Th
... ey quoted $1,077.43 for a valve cover as a customer-pay repair and stated the recall could not be completed until that was done. I declined the valve cover. The recall was not performed. The bolt is not broken and the valve cover is not broken. The threads in the cylinder head bolt boss are stripped, and a larger bolt was installed that holds. There is no oil leak. A new valve cover would thread into the same stripped hole in the cylinder head and would not repair the damaged threads. The dealer's proposed repair does not address the condition they described. The manufacturer's dealer bulletin for this recall lists a cylinder head cover profile seal as a recall part and does not list a valve cover in any parts list. The remedy requires removing the cylinder head cover regardless. I left without signing the repair order. The recall remains open. I am reporting that a free safety recall remedy was conditioned on a customer-pay repair. The dealer could have performed the recall, documented the pre-existing thread damage on the repair order, noted that the customer was advised and declined the valve cover, and disclaimed responsibility for any future seepage at the cover. I would have accepted that. Instead they performed neither the recall nor any repair, and left a federal safety recall open.Read more

On June 19, 2026, while driving my 2026 Nissan Rogue SV at approximately highway speed, my vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. Prior to the incident, I did not experience any warning signs that would have indicated an imminent engine failure. The engine failure has been confirmed by the authorized Nissan dealership, and the vehicle has remained out of service since June 19, 2026, while awaiting repairs. Nissan has provided a loaner vehicle, but my new vehicle has been unavailable for approximately 30 days. While driving on I-70 westbound near Genesee, CO, on a sustained mountain grade with my family in the vehicle, I heard a loud noise. The oil temperature spiked to approximately 280°F, warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost all power in highway traffic. Losing propulsion on a steep grade in mountain traffic created a serious risk to my family and surrounding vehicles. Post-failure condition: empty coolant reservoir, coolant-contaminated (milky, green-tinted) oil, and metal debris on the dipstick, consistent with cooling-system failure causing engine seizure. I have timestamped photos. The engine is locked and the vehicle inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the same authorized dealer on 7/9/2026. The dealer's technician confirmed the engine is seized and requires teardown ($3,302.95) for full diagnosis; the dealer states teardown proceeds only on authorization from me or Subaru of America. I opened a case with Subaru of America on 5/26/2026 and formally requested in writing that Subaru authorize the teardown, with a stated deadline. As of 7/17/2026, the dealer confirms Subaru has sent no authorization or any communication during the week the vehicle has been on their lot. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I purchased my 2018 Honda Accord in 2024, and in 2025, I experienced significant issues with the vehicle. During my visits to both Honda of Southaven and Honda of Tupelo, they indicated that the head gasket might be the problem, which is a known issue with this model. I believe the malfunction is

The issues with my vehicle have directly endangered my safety and the safety of my children. While driving, the car started jerking unexpectedly and then cut off entirely on the highway, which could have resulted in a severe accident. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, I have visited Honda of Southaven and Honda of Tupelo over three times reporting these problems. Both dealerships acknowledged the issue, with one dealership stating it was likely the head gasket, which they mentioned seeing frequently with Honda vehicles. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? I have not had an inspection by the manufacturer or police. However, I have had my vehicle inspected by two authorized Honda dealerships, where they diagnosed the problem. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, before the failure, there were multiple warning lights on the dashboard, which indicated that something was wrong with the vehicle. These symptoms began appearing shortly after I purchased the car in 2024, and they escalated over time leading up to my visits to the dealerships in 2025.Read more

The engine consumes excessive oil due to the known Theta II piston oil control ring defect that the manufacturer documents in its own Technical Service Bulletin ENG222, covering this engine family across model years 2011 to 2024. The vehicle loses over one quart of oil per 1,000 miles with no external leak and no oil pressure warning. The manufacturer's authorized dealer completed the entire TSB
... ENG222 diagnostic protocol, which is itself a controlled test designed to isolate cause. The engine was sealed, and after 1,080 miles it was 1.5 quarts low. The dealer then performed the TSB's combustion chamber cleaning. After that repair, over 1,149 miles, the engine was 1.4 quarts low. The cleaning had virtually no effect on the consumption rate. Because the protocol sealed the engine and cleaned the combustion chambers and the consumption rate remained unchanged, the protocol itself mechanically excludes maintenance as the cause and isolates the failure to the internal piston rings. This is the exact defect TSB ENG222 was created to diagnose and repair. The defect has been reproduced and confirmed by the manufacturer's own authorized dealer through this protocol, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Under the TSB, these results qualify the engine for replacement. The manufacturer nonetheless denied the engine replacement, citing a lack of oil change receipts rather than any technical evidence of neglect, despite its own diagnostic protocol having already ruled out maintenance as the cause. Safety concern: an engine consuming oil at this rate risks sudden loss of oil pressure and engine failure while driving, which can cause a stall or loss of power in traffic.Read more

I am submitting this complaint to request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) document and evaluate what may be a broader defect affecting certain Toyota Sienna vehicles and determine whether it presents a potential safety-related defect trend. My 2015 Toyota Sienna was diagnosed by an authorized Toyota dealership with an external rear-bank head gasket leak. A head gask
... et is a critical engine component, and failure can result in coolant loss, engine overheating, reduced engine performance, stalling, or complete vehicle disablement. These conditions may create a safety risk, particularly if they occur while driving in traffic or at highway speeds. An authorized Toyota dealership confirmed the diagnosis and submitted a goodwill assistance request to Toyota. The dealership noted my history as a repeat Toyota customer and recommended that assistance be provided. Toyota denied the goodwill request based on the vehicle's age and mileage. I subsequently appealed through Toyota's customer relations process, and the denial was upheld. I understand that NHTSA does not resolve individual warranty or customer-assistance disputes. My purpose in submitting this complaint is to request that NHTSA determine whether similar reports exist involving premature head gasket failures in this model year or related vehicles and, if warranted, evaluate whether a broader defect trend exists that could present a safety concern. Potential safety consequences include engine overheating, loss of power, stalling, and unexpected vehicle disablement. The vehicle has been maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and has not experienced any overheating event that would reasonably explain a premature head gasket failure. Thank you for your consideration and for documenting this complaint as part of NHTSA's review of potential vehicle safety issues. Respectfully, Vehicle OwnerRead more

My vehicle has experienced repeated unexpected engine shutdown/no-start events, creating a significant safety hazard. The issue has now occurred at least six times over approximately one year. Because the condition is intermittent, the dealership has not permanently identified the root cause. The vehicle is currently being returned to the dealership for further diagnosis, and I have requested that the matter be escalated to Honda Technical Assistance (Tech Line) and Honda Engineering. This defect creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly lose power while in or entering traffic, increasing the risk of a collision. There were no consistent warning lights or messages before the failures, and the condition occurs intermittently without warning. The vehicle remains available for inspection.Read more

I have noticed that the engine oil level in my vehicle drops significantly between regular oil changes. Despite adhering to the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule, I frequently have to add a quart of oil after driving only about [800~1,000 마일] miles.I understand that this is a widely reported issue with Hyundai Owners Forum affecting 2019 models. Many experts and fellow owners hav
... e identified that this rapid oil loss is often caused by manufacturing defects, such as faulty piston rings, which can eventually lead to catastrophic engine failure. As a Hyundai owner, I am highly concerned about the safety, reliability, and decreased resale value of my vehicle. Running low on oil without warning creates a high risk of sudden engine breakdown while driving on the highway.I kindly request that Hyundai Corporate or my local authorized dealer investigate and resolve this matter. Specifically, I am asking for:An official engine inspection and a proper Oil Consumption Test.Necessary repairs or a full engine replacement under the applicable powertrain warranty at no cost to me.Read more

The Hyundai Theta engine is a bad design that has many recalls, a history of oil consumptions, and breakdowns that leave consumers in danger, on the roadside, and out of money. This engine has a design that causes worn engine components and high oil consumption causing reduced engine power, ruined spark plugs, and engine damage with no recourse as a owner. Recently, my family member had a hesi
... tation that causes the car to run rough and display a check engine light. She was in traffic and the vehicle was stopping. Had this been on the interstate it could have been deadly. This IS NOT UNCOMMON for these vehicles. A quick Google search is nationwide proof of an issue with these vehicles and engines that the government needs to hold Hyundai accountable. This particular vehicle has been assessed by a Hyundai and confirmed it is consuming oil at a higher rate than normal, as many other owners have documented. With this most recent issue of stalling out, the mechanic indicated that excessive oil consumption entering the spark plug port has fouled the spark plugs as the design of the engine is flawed. The oil consumption was discovered at approximately 99,000 miles and several steps were completed to "fix" and confirm the issue. There is no "real fix" to the issue due to the inherent design of the motor. Again, this is not a new issue with these cars and there should be recourse that holds Hyundai accountable for bad and dangerous engines. The check engine light did come on as the vehicle began to stall and run rough in traffic.Read more
