My girlfriend was driving on interstate 95 to pick me up from the metro. The engine suddenly cut off in a manner that appears to have melted the wiring harness of the vehicle, risking fire. She was able to safely get to the side of the road and call a tow. After taking it to a local repair shop, they diagnosed the issue as related to the KSDS recall. We had it towed to the dealership that has also

Car was started on afternoon of XXX and the Low Coolant alert sound and dashboard light came on. Opened hood and car was completely out of coolant. Took to Royal Automotive, Vestavia Hills, AL on Wednesday XXX to be fixed. Dealer assessment was “PERFORMED COOLING SYSTEM LEAK TEST. THE VEHICLE PASSED TEST. CHECK FOR VISUAL LEAKS. FOUND NO LEAKS, BUT FOUND SEEPAGE AT THE HEAD GASKET. VOLKSW
... AGEN SAID THIS WAS NORMAL PER 00-26-01 - DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLUID LEAKAGE AND SEEPAGE. TOP OFF COOLING SYSTEM.” The car was purchased new by me in October 2022 and my warranty expires in October 2022. It has just over 17,100 miles on it. Further, Volkswagen published a Technical Service Bulletin 15-23-01 - Head Gasket Leakage on XXX documenting known problems with head gaskets for my car’s engine. Despite dealership stating the head gaskets is leaking, Volkswagen stated to the dealership it doesn’t warrant repair. I believe Volkswagen should repair at their expense the defect of their vehicle. The dealership acknowledged the head gasket is clearly “seeping” coolant. Coolant shouldn’t be leaking at all from a closed loop system. This is causing a potential safety issue for my [XXX] daughter who drives the car, as when the head gasket fully fails as documented by Volkswagen, the car could be in traffic and put my daughter’s life and other peoples lives in jeopardy from a blown engine or an overheated engine. It’s unacceptable that Volkswagen’s direction is for us to carry around a gallon of coolant and constantly check the coolant levels because they don’t want to fix their known defect. I called Volkswagen customer care and complained. They refused to assist, stating they stand by the dealership’s assessment. I reminded them that the dealership was doing what Volkswagen directed, but that didn’t change their decision. I asked for escalation, was told it was escalated twice and that their decision is not changing. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6Read more

My 2016 Q50 was driving strangely, but no indicator light came on the dashboard. I took the vehicle to the dealer where I purchased it and was told that the engine is dying. No other information was given to me. I called the service advisor asking what in particular was wrong with my car, but he said he wasn't sure. I took issue with the fact that my engine died, and no warning lights what-so
... -ever showed on the dash. I would only take my car to the dealer for repairs, maintenance and oil changes. I also learned that cars should not go beyond 3,000 miles for an oil change, but for some reason Infiniti oil changes were 10,000 miles in between. I believe this could be a reason the engine died...there was never an oil change indicator light illuminated as well. I feel that Infiniti is responsible for an engine dying on a vehicle with less than 100,000 miles on it.Read more

The vehicle suddenly lost motive power due to an engine/throttle control failure consistent with defects described in NHTSA Campaigns 26V081 and R25A8/R25A9/R25B1. It entered limp mode and became unable to accelerate. The vehicle is available for inspection. This created a safety risk because the vehicle was stranded in extreme heat for several hours with no access to water or shelter. I became o

A dealer confirmed the vehicle entered limp mode but did not complete the recall repair. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for four days without inspection, and I was told it should not have been towed there, so they will not prioritize it. The manufacturer cannot see the open recall because the dealer incorrectly marked it completed. Because the vehicle could not be driven and the defect has not been repaired, I was unable to travel to work and was terminated as a result. Component: Engine (2.0L EcoBoost) — coolant intrusion into cylinders What failed: The engine in my 2019 Lincoln MKC (2.0L EcoBoost, approximately 83,000 miles) failed due to internal coolant intrusion into the cylinders. This is a known defect in this engine, documented by the manufacturer in TSB 22-2229 (superseding TSB 19-2346), which acknowledges coolant leaking into the cylinders on 2.0L Ec
... oBoost vehicles and specifies complete long block engine replacement as the only repair. My vehicle and the failed engine are available for inspection upon request. The car/engine is currently at the [XXX] Ford in Draper, UT. Safety risk: Coolant intrusion causes engine misfires and can cause sudden loss of engine power while driving, hydro-locking of the engine, and — per the manufacturer's own bulletins and pending litigation — overheating, cracked cylinder heads, and engine fires. The check engine light began flashing while I was on the highway. I am also a dialysis patient awaiting a kidney transplant, and a sudden engine failure or stall while driving to medical treatment poses a serious safety risk. Confirmed by a service center: Yes. On or about XXX, [XXX], a franchised Lincoln dealership, performed a borescope inspection of the engine and confirmed the failure, stating the engine must be replaced at a quoted cost of $7,897.45. I have the written diagnosis and repair estimate. Inspected by the manufacturer or others: No police or insurance inspection was involved, as this was a mechanical failure rather than a collision. Warning signs before failure: Unexplained low coolant level requiring repeated top-offs; white smoke from the exhaust, especially at cold start; check engine light, steady or flashing; rough running or misfire, often with codes P0300–P0304 or P0316; sweet coolant smell. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the service I received, and the dealership’s failure to address what I believe is a serious safety issue following recall repairs performed on my vehicle. On XXX, I brought my vehicle for a routine oil change and to complete three mandatory recall campaigns, including an ECM software update related to a misfire recall. Prior to this service, my v
... ehicle had never exhibited any misfiring, transmission, or drivability issues. However, on Sunday, XXX, and again on Monday, XXX my vehicle began experiencing dangerous driving symptoms that started only after the recall work was completed. Specifically: The engine RPMs surge while accelerating, but the vehicle does not increase speed accordingly. The vehicle jerks when braking. The vehicle hesitates and feels unsafe while driving at highway speeds. These issues did not exist before Genesis performed the recall repairs. On XXX, I contacted my service advisor, to report these safety concerns. He assured me that a manager would contact me ASAP and determine the next steps. No one ever called me back. I called again that same day. During that conversation, Rick suggested that my worn brake pads and rotors were the reason my vehicle was “misfiring.” This explanation makes does not explain why my engine RPMs are flaring and the vehicle is failing to accelerate properly immediately after an ECM recall update. Once again, I was told someone would follow up, and again, no one did. On XXX, at approximately 9:00 AM, I called Genesis of Danvers again and spoke with Rick who told that if I dropped the vehicle off today, nothing could be done with it today, and that a manager would call me back. Got vehicle towed XXX. As of today XXX I still have no update on my vehicle. No phone card no email no loaner. I am becoming increasingly concerned by the lack of communication surrounding a vehicle that was towed because of a significant safety concern. I have also contacted GMC Corporate directly for intervention. Instead of providing a loaner or expediting repairs, they have only offered post-repair rental reimbursement (up to $44/day after a repair order is opened). This leaves me with no safe transportation option. I have been told I can “drop off” the vehicle, but I have no alternative way to get home or to work. While driving, my vehicle experienced a sudden engine malfunction consistent with a failed head gasket. The engine began misfiring, shaking, and losing power, and the check engine light began flashing. The vehicle became unsafe to operate. The failed component is the engine head gasket, and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The sudden loss of engine performance created a seriou
... s safety concern. I was driving on a public roadway when the engine began misfiring and losing power, making it difficult to safely maintain speed and operate the vehicle. A sudden loss of power while driving increases the risk of being rear-ended or becoming involved in a collision, particularly in traffic, while merging, or at highway speeds. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Honda dealership, which confirmed the head gasket failure. I also spoke with independent mechanics who were immediately familiar with this type of failure on Honda's 1.5L turbocharged engines. Although Honda diagnosed the problem, my request for goodwill assistance was denied because the vehicle was outside the warranty period. The vehicle has been inspected by Honda and is available for further inspection if requested. It has not been inspected by law enforcement or my insurance company because no accident occurred. As the condition progressed, the engine developed a rough idle and intermittent misfires. Eventually, the check engine light began flashing, and the engine began shaking and losing power while I was driving. These warning signs escalated into a condition that I believe presented a significant safety risk. I am submitting this complaint because an engine that suddenly loses power while being driven poses a serious safety hazard to both the driver and others on the road. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate whether this represents a recurring safety-related issue affecting Honda vehicles equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine.Read more

On July 19, 2026, I was driving my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid on E-470 at approximately 75 mph. Without warning, the dashboard displayed "Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon," and the amber check engine light illuminated. At the same time, the vehicle immediately lost all motor power, began slowing, and did not respond to accelerator input. There were six occupants in the vehicle, including
... four young children. I was traveling on a busy six-lane highway with little to no shoulder. I had to maneuver across traffic without motor power to reach the side of the road, placing all six occupants at immediate risk. After turning the vehicle off for about five minutes, I restarted it. Only the check engine light remained illuminated, and the vehicle appeared to have normal power. We continued driving at 55–65 mph to reach a safer location. About 10 minutes later, the same warning appeared and the vehicle again lost all motor power. This time we were on a steep, busy exit ramp and had to immediately pull off as the vehicle rapidly lost speed, again placing all six occupants at risk. After waiting about five minutes, we restarted the vehicle, drove it to a safe location, and had it towed to a dealership. The dealership was closed, so the cause of the failure has not yet been determined. This incident created an extremely dangerous situation, and we narrowly avoided a collision on the interstate. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds without warning is a serious safety hazard that warrants investigation and consideration for a recall.Read more

On July 6, 2026, a certified Kia dealership pressure-tested the engine and formally documented "NO EXTERNAL LEAKS," while confirming the spark plugs are entirely "OIL COATED" due to sev
... ere internal burning. The dealership noted on the invoice that the vehicle was "9,000 miles due" for service. I must explicitly clarify that this mileage gap occurred because the engine burns through its oil so rapidly that standard interval changes became meaningless; I was forced to continuously top off the engine manually out-of-pocket with store-bought oil just to keep it from running dry and seizing while driving. Otherwise, all other oil changes were consistently done at Kia dealerships, and this excellent service history was even explicitly acknowledged and noted by a Kia Consumer Care representative on a recorded line. Furthermore, the engine builds extreme crankcase blow-by pressure that actively forces oil vapor out of the oil filler cap. This defect creates an immediate risk of sudden engine seizure, highway stalling, or an engine bay fire. Kia Corporate Consumer Affairs has refused to authorize safety repairs or diagnostic testing under TSB ENG222, issuing a blanket denial while ignoring an imminent safety failure diagnosed by their own technician.Read more

I was driving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe on a public road when the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of propulsion. Before driving, the check engine light was illuminated, and the air conditioner was blowing hot air instead of cold. Shortly after pulling onto the roadway and while approaching a stoplight, the vehicle lost power while it was still in motion and became inoperable, requiring it to be
... towed to the dealership. The dashboard displayed “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System.” The vehicle has fewer than 20,000 miles. I believe this is a serious safety concern because the loss of propulsion occurred while driving, leaving me stranded in traffic. I no longer feel confident in the safety and reliability of this vehicle.Read more

I recently took my 2016 Kia Sorento L to the Kia dealership for the Emissions update recall. The next day when I started it up and put it in drive, it started jerking hard when I was trying to speed up (going from first to second gear). I had to stop and then slowly push the gas so it wouldn't jerk so hard, then it finally switched gears and was smooth. Ever since it's happening only at the first
... cold start up of the day, and have sluggish acceleration throughtout the day. No lights on or codes. I took back to dealership twice and they said they couldn't replicate it and so they aren't sure, but it definitely still does it (anyone riding with me notices before I even mention it).Read more

My minivan has had repeated electrical and safety-related failures since shortly after it was leased. The vehicle has died or failed to start five times, including multiple tow events. The first battery failure happened shortly after delivery, but we thought a light may have been left on and did not know to bring it in. The problem continued. The dealer has replaced the battery, recharged the batt
... ery, replaced the alternator, and later found an excessive parasitic draw, but the electrical problems have continued. The failures affect more than starting. The sliding doors have failed 30+ times by refusing to close and acting like something is blocking them when nothing is there. This creates a safety concern because passengers may not be able to safely enter, exit, or secure the vehicle. The instrument cluster has gone black on startup in Park about 10 times and has also blacked out or faulted while in use. A brake failure warning light appeared once. The backup camera intermittently dims so badly that I cannot see behind the vehicle while reversing. A service advisor observed this issue, but the technician could not reproduce it during inspection. The DVD/interior electronics, USB charging, and wireless phone charger have also failed. The power tailgate/trunk malfunctioned repeatedly before repair, including problems opening or closing and clicking. The front driver and passenger windows also do not roll down smoothly. The front window still shakes or drags even after two repair attempts. The vehicle has been inspected by authorized service centers and is available for inspection upon request. The exact root cause is unknown, but based on the repeated dead battery, charging, parasitic draw, door, display, camera, brake warning, interior electronics, and power window failures, the pattern appears consistent with an unresolved electrical or charging-system defect.Read more

When driving the vehicle will lose acceleration and not allow me to accelerate. It feels like it wants to shut off. The check engine light will come on when this happens. I turn the car off and turn it back on and it goes back to baseline and lets me drive as normal. This has happened while accelerating to get on the highway from an on-ramp, at around 45-60 miles an hour and also at city speeds sl
... owing down to a stop light. I notice some rough idling/shaking during idle at times as well. I have not taken it into the dealer yet because it started happening over the weekend when the dealer was closed. Vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone. I do believe the first time it happened that an error message came on my dashboard but I'm not 100% sure. The check engine light definitely did though both times it's happened.Read more

My engine failed while driving which put me and others at risk. It was confirmed by the Kia dealership as rod bearing failure. Which is a known recall on the Kia 2.4L Theta II engine. My specific VIN number is not listed on the Kia recall list. And Kia is stating that it does not qualify for a warranty replacement. Although it is the same engine with the known defect.

Automatic transmission shifts hard at approximately 30 mph causing a sudden lurch. It has happened several times. It is such a sudden movement that it feels unsafe as if someone has hit my car from behind. I took my car to the dealer of purchase for the first time for this issue on 7/18/26. This has happened at least 4x and there were no warnings prior to it happening. Also, when I hit a small spe
