While driving, the engine stalled and produced a cranking noise. Subsequently, the display screen turned black. Currently, I am experiencing a problem where I cannot turn off the vehicle or shift gears, rendering it immobilized. I have taken the vehicle to a Chrysler dealership, and they have been unable to identify any faults. However, I believe the vehicle is not safe to drive.

On June 25, 2026, at approximately 84,000 miles, while traveling approximately 60-65 mph on Highway 121 in a posted 65 mph zone, driving my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 equipped with the 6.2L L87 engine, multiple warning messages suddenly appeared, including “Check ESC,” “Check Parking Brake,” “Check Brakes,” and “Check Engine.” The engine began operating abnormally. I drove directly t
... o Sewell GMC because I was concerned that the engine could fail or the vehicle could lose propulsion while in traffic. There was no crash, fire, or injury. Sewell GMC inspected the vehicle and confirmed catastrophic internal engine damage. The technician found metal debris in the engine oil and oil pan, damaged internal bearings, and camshaft/lifter damage. Sewell advised that the complete engine must be replaced. The vehicle remains at the dealership, has not yet been repaired, and the engine and failed components should be available for inspection. Before this incident, I had not experienced warning lights or symptoms indicating that an imminent catastrophic engine failure would occur. GM and the dealership advised that my VIN is not included in the current L87 engine recall because the engine was built in 2020. However, the diagnosed bearing damage, metal contamination, and catastrophic engine failure appear similar to the engine failures addressed by that recall. I am reporting this because an unexpected internal engine failure while driving creates a serious risk of loss of propulsion and a collision.Read more

Hi, I had to transport a few lumber pieces that did not fit into the trunk of my Kia EV6, so I had to leave the hatch open (I pulled it down as far as possible and secured it via a rope against the latch). When I started driving the car started beeping frantically, but allowed me to drive. When I crossed an intersection traffic came to a temporary halt, and when I came to a stop my Kia all of a su
... dden shut off and would not allow me to put it back into gear again. When traffic around me continued I was unable to move and presented a security hazard with cars coming from behind almost running into me because they expected me to move, which I couldn't. I inquired about this at my dealership this morning and was told that there is no way to override the car's behavior and that this behavior was a "safety feature" to ensure the car wouldn't be driven with the hatch open. Now I'm asking since when is it a safety issue to knowingly drive with the hatch open to transport an oversize item - shouldn't that decision be left to the operator of the vehicle? In my opinion it's a much bigger safety issue to all of a sudden disable the entire powertrain of the vehicle when coming to a brief stop. What if the brief stop would have happened on a highway or freeway? Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I bought this car brand new and since I purchased it in December of 2021. Every summer this car leaves me stranded everytime I shut the car off and its hot outside I took it to several kia dealerships while in warranty but because it was not showing a code they couldn't fix it. To have a brandnew car leave you stranded in the 1st 6 months and the manufacturer do nothing to fix it is unheard of but to still be dealing with it after 4 yrs and kia doing nothing to correct the issue I will be finding a lawyer and suing kia for all my lost hrs of work for the money I paid for this junk car and for the pain and suffering it has caused since they refuse to fix it.Read more

I test drove the vehicle at an auction, watched several other people test drive the vehicle. Before the auction I test drove it one more time and put my obd scan tool on it to make sure there were no hidden codes or problems. I won the bid,and picked up the vehicle. I drove it approximately 6 miles from the auction and the falshing engine light popped on. I immediately pulled over in heavy freeway

It was inoperable in the worst possible spot on Highway 51 during rush hour traffic. I managed to slowing coast down the offramp and roll into a parking lot. I then called Purdy Hyundai and spoke with a service advisor and provided the VIN#. He (Vue Kue) informed me that the vehicle qualified for the recall and warranty work based on exactly that issue. I had the vehicle towed to the Purdy dealership on July 8th 2026. I was told today that it was unlikely that Hyundai would honor the recall because I did not have service records of a vehicle I had owned for 6 miles of driving. I filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate. Claim#43010067 and awaiting the reconciliation of this situation. Of which they appear to to be avoiding.Read more

I am aware that Mazda issued Technical Service Bulletin TSB #SA-031-21 specifically addressing a cylinder head casting defect in 2018–2019 CX-5 models equipped with the 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine with cylinder deactivation — the exact configuration of my vehicle. This is a documented manufacturing defect, not normal wear and tear, and the repair estimate I have received is $4,800.84. Given that this failure is tied to a known defect acknowledged by Mazda, I am requesting that Mazda Motor America cover the cost of this repair in full, or provide a clear explanation of what goodwill or warranty coverage is available to me. Vehicle: 2018 Ford Edge Titanium AWD, 2.0L EcoBoost VIN: [XXX] I am reporting a serious safety concern involving my 2018 Ford Edge following an engine block replacement performed by Power Ford in [XXX], due to the known coolant intrusion issue. Before the engine replacement, I routinely drove long trips between [XXX], [XXX], and [XXX] without any loss of power or drivability problems. Immediately
... after the engine replacement, the vehicle began experiencing an intermittent but repeatable loss of power. After approximately 30–40 minutes of highway driving, especially on sustained uphill grades, the engine revs to about 4,000 RPM, but the vehicle will not accelerate and may actually lose speed. Turning the ignition off and restarting immediately restores normal operation until the problem occurs again. This creates a significant safety hazard while driving at highway speeds. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice for the same complaint. During the first visit, DTC P1016 was found, and the wastegate control solenoid was replaced. The repair did not resolve the issue. On the first extended highway trip after the repair, the exact same condition occurred again. I returned the vehicle and provided multiple videos documenting the failure. The dealership stated they could not duplicate the concern and reported the turbo and boost system were operating normally. However, I reproduced the same failure again immediately after picking up the vehicle and submitted another video. The dealership later suggested a possible transmission issue but requested another diagnostic fee. I have opened a Ford Customer Care case (XXX), but the original safety concern remains unresolved. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint because the loss of power began immediately after the engine replacement, has persisted despite repair attempts, and presents a serious highway safety risk. I bought my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Touring van in February 2018 brand new from Burlington Chrysler, Burlington, NJ. In May 2026 the check engine light came on and I brought the van to my mechanic. The code he pulled was for #5 cylinder. I had the repair done. A month later in June of 2026 the che ck engine light came back on and this time the code was for the catalytic converter. On July 21, 2026
... I brought the van back to my mechanic for an oil change and replacement of catalytic converter. When they put the van up, it was discovered that coolant had leaked all through the exhaust system and my mechanic suspected there was a crack in the head gasket. He searched through the Pacifica Forum online and found many, many complaints about this same issue. My mechanic completed the oil change and filled the car with coolant because it had none and advised me to bring the car to the dealership which I did. On July 22, 2026 Chrysler called and advised I need an entirely new motor. I now have to pay out-of-pocket $14,098 + tax for a new motor and catalytic converter. Chrysler advised there is nothing else they could do for me because the car is out of warranty. However, the car is only 8 years old with 76,000 miles and has had all the regular maintenance and oil changes required. It should not need to have the motor replaced at this point unless there's a major defect with these engines. I feel this is a MAJOR safety issue as this head gasket crack occurred without any warning other than the codes for #5 cylinder and catalytic converter failures. Without coolant, the car would have overheated at some point and caused engine failure and power loss. As I drive mainly on highways, this defect had the potential to cause a very bad accident. Due to the overwhelming number of complaints about this issue, I feel this warrants an investigation by your organization.Read more

I bought the vehicle new in November 2025. 2026 Toyota Tubdra TRD SR5. In the first week I noticed a lot of jerking and shaking. I brought it to the dealer and was told it was a break in period and it should go away. I’ve had the truck in the shop 5-6 times since and the jerking and shaking hasn’t gone away. I’m at 6300 miles now. The dealer won’t even respond to me anymore. The only way t
... o make the jerking go away is to step on the gas pedal harder but this has become extremely dangerous because it’s forcing me to go faster than I would like, especially in school zones. The dealers say that it’s the truck running very low RPM’s to maximize fuel efficiency and also because there are 10 gears but is that’s the case than why isn’t everyone experiencing it. It’s worse on cold mornings (40 or below) but it’s almost like the truck needs an hour or two to warm up. Even then it’s still jerking. My guess is that the truck doesn’t know what gear it’s supposed to be in but 4th or 5th gear are the worst where the truck hesitates and jerks. I’ve been told to run it in Sport mode but that doesn’t help. I’m finding more and more complaints about this online with the Toyota Tundra SR5’s and I’m part of numerous groups. Someone needs to step in because no one should have to go through this and it’s very unsafe to have to push the gas pedal down harder to make the jerking go away.Thank you for your time.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding the engine timing chain failure in my 2015 GMC Terrain because I believe it presents a serious safety hazard. Before the failure, the vehicle began experiencing intermittent symptoms, including engine jerking, shaking, rough operation, abnormal engine noises, and an intermittent check engine light. While driving on the highway, the engine timing chain fail
... ed, causing the vehicle to suddenly lose power. I was traveling at highway speed and had to safely maneuver the vehicle out of traffic. The unexpected loss of power placed me and other motorists at risk of a collision because I could no longer safely maintain the flow of traffic. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair facility, where the engine was diagnosed with a timing chain failure. I was informed that the engine had sustained significant damage and required replacement. After purchasing and installing a replacement engine, that engine also began exhibiting timing chain-related symptoms immediately after installation, including abnormal rattling noises and unstable engine operation, resulting in additional repairs and the vehicle remaining unsafe to drive. I am concerned that timing chain failures in this model can occur without sufficient warning and can cause a sudden loss of engine power while the vehicle is being driven. A sudden engine failure at highway speeds creates a significant risk of a crash, injury, or death. I am requesting that this issue be investigated to determine whether it represents a safety-related defect affecting other 2015 GMC Terrain vehicles.Read more

The starter/starter solenoid and related engine oil sealing have failed three times. Most recently on 6/18/2026, and previously in 2024 and 2025, the vehicle would not start: the dashboard illuminated but the engine would not crank. The engine then began smoking and a burning electrical smell entered the cabin. My wife and young child were in the vehicle. The vehicle was rendered completely inoper
... able and had to be towed each time. Safety risk: an engine that smokes and emits a burning electrical odor upon attempted starting presents a fire hazard to occupants. On the most recent occurrence the failure happened at a fuel station with my family present, over 1,000 miles from home, stranding us for seven days. Dealer confirmation: yes. On the two prior occasions a franchise dealer diagnosed a defective starter solenoid and replaced the starter. Both repairs failed and the identical failure recurred. On the most recent occurrence, a different franchise dealer found that a plug sealing an unused opening on the engine block was missing, allowing engine oil to spray onto and saturate the starter, destroying it. The starter and the plug were replaced. All failures were documented on dealer repair orders, which are available on request. Inspection: the vehicle has been inspected and repaired by franchise dealers on all three occasions. No police or insurance inspection. The manufacturer has been notified through its customer care department, which has open case records on this vehicle. Warning indicators: none. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to any of the three failures. The vehicle simply would not crank, followed by smoke and a burning electrical smell. This vehicle has spent approximately 60 days out of service since purchase and has had persistent electrical problems documented since 2023. Despite repeated dealer repairs the same failure mode continues to recur. I am reporting this as an unaddressed safety defect.Read more

On June 14, 2026, while driving approximately 70 mph on a Michigan freeway, the 6.2L V8 engine began shaking violently. The vehicle lost oil pressure, warning messages appeared on the dashboard, and the vehicle completely lost propulsion and shut down while still in motion. My spouse and child were inside the vehicle. The sudden loss of power at highway speed created a serious risk of a collision
... , although I was able to bring the vehicle to safety. No collision, bodily injury, fire, or property damage occurred during this incident. An OnStar/Cadillac notification reported a critical engine and transmission system problem and diagnostic trouble code P0016. The vehicle was towed directly to an authorized Cadillac dealership. The dealership opened the repair order on June 15, 2026, at approximately 46,640 miles. The dealership determined that the vehicle required a replacement engine. The replacement engine later arrived, but additional required parts, including a seal kit and gasket, were still outstanding. General Motors advised in writing that there was no estimated arrival date for those parts and no confirmed repair-completion date. The vehicle and failed engine components have been in the possession of the authorized Cadillac dealership and should be available for inspection. General Motors confirmed that the engine failure and repairs are covered under warranty. I am reporting this incident because the engine failure caused a complete and unexpected loss of propulsion at highway speed, placing the vehicle occupants and surrounding motorists at risk.Read more

The engine starter failed on my 2020 BMW Z4 M40i. The vehicle experienced starting failures and the repair shop diagnosed a faulty/shorted engine starter assembly. The symptoms and component failure match the exact defect description of active safety recalls NHTSA 24V-576 and 25V-636 (Starter Motor Fire Risk due to electrical short circuit/overheating). However, when checking my specific 17-digit
... VIN, the manufacturer has excluded my vehicle from the recall population. Because this is an identical component failure that poses a severe vehicle fire and safety hazard, I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate a recall expansion to include my vehicle's production batch. I have retained the diagnostic reports and repair invoices as evidence.Read more

2025 Honda Odyssey. When the auto start/stop engaged, the engine failed to turn back on when the brake was released.
