My vehicle started stalling and shaking right before all of the warning lights on my dashboard came on and the safety features stopped working (brake assist, brake hold etc). After checking, the spark plugs were all burnt out so I changed it along with the coil pack and this remedied the issue temporarily until it happened again a few weeks later. This time, I was on the highway going at around 5
... 5mph when the car suddenly started stalling and the speed dropped to 10mph. Luckily, I was in the right lane and had no cars behind me because it would've caused an accident. I pulled over to the side of the highway, shut the car off for 15 minutes and then took the nearest exit with my hazard lights on, going at around 10 mph. I took my car to the dealership and they stated that I need a new head gasket which will cost me from $5,000 to $9,000. After doing research, there are hundreds of other Honda's which are experiencing this same issue. Currently, the condition is worsening as the car is shaking abruptly and I am not able to drive over 30mph. I also experienced a burning smell.Read more

On July 30, my 2022 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon suffered an extremely dangerous, unexpected complete electrical and engine failure while in operation. The vehicle abruptly shut down without any warning, causing an immediate loss of power steering and power braking. Prior to and during this shutdown, diagnostic codes associated with lost communication were triggered, (Lost Communication with Transmissio
... n Control Module). A total loss of vehicle power and primary control systems while driving presents a severe, unacceptable safety hazard that places passengers and surrounding traffic at immediate risk of a high-speed collision or severe injury. Given that this model has low mileage (approximately 23,000 miles) and is under factory warranty, a catastrophic system shutdown like this indicates a critical safety defect within the electrical or powertrain control modules. I strongly urge the NHTSA to formally document and investigate this life-threatening defect to ensure manufacturer accountability and prevent potential accidents.Read more

I was driving on the highway in Michigan, the speed limit is 70 mph. All of a sudden, I noticed that my car acceleration was not working. It ended up my engine misfired and in doing so, I could not go more than 20 mph on the actual highway!!! it was absolutely terrifying, even when I put on my emergency lights, I had to find a place to safely pull aside. I still had to pull out in front of someone
... to try to get off the exit, so pulling out in front of someone at 20 mph on the highway was petrifying. Once, I finally was able to pull into a safe place. I immediately called my insurance company and Honda about the misfiring of my engine. My car was then towed to a Honda dealership, where technicians diagnosed a blown head gasket caused by coolant leaking into a cylinder. The only warning light was the “check engine” flashing light when I was unable to drive more than 20 mph. My vehicle went limp. The repair required replacement of the head gasket at significant personal expense About $6k +.Read more

- The engine system failed and it is available for inspection -While driving on the highway at normal traffic speed, my vehicle suddenly developed a loud knocking noise and the check engine light lit up. Within moments, the engine lost power and became inoperable, leaving me unable to continue driving while being 300 miles away from home. This incident occurred at about 5-6AM, having to maneuver t

My vehicle has about 68k miles, while driving on freeway all of sudden the car engine started to shake and check engine light came on dashboard. My mechanic suggested to have spark plugs and Ignition coil#1 to be changed. I bought new plug

He conducted compression test and found only 20PSI pressure is cylinder 1 and suggested a tear-down or engine replacement. I talked to another shop and described the issue and was informed that this is a common issue in Mercedes E300 to develop misfire in either cylinder 1 or 2. I found similar issues described by many owners on various forums online as well. Currently Mercedes has no recall for this issue.Read more

On June 3, 2026, I brought my vehicle to O'Brien Nissan of Bloomington because I was experiencing significant problems with the continuously variable transmission (CVT). Specifically, the SERVICE NOW light came on, the vehicle would not shift into park, and I was concerned about a CVT malfunction. I explained these concerns to the service advisor Jason who is the current service manager and expect
... ed that the vehicle would be thoroughly inspected and any necessary repairs would be completed. The purpose of my visit was specifically to have the transmission issue addressed and repaired before it developed into a more serious safety concern. The dealership's response was as follows: • Complaint: The CVT malfunction SERVICE NOW light came on, and the car would not shift into park • Cause: TECH FOUND MULTIPLE STORED CODES. NO CURRENT CODES. TECH TESTED TRANSMISSION OPERATION AND FOUND NO ISSUE AT THIS TIME. • Correction: NO REPAIRS SUGGESTED FOR THIS VISIT According to the service manager Jason, the CVT was not serviced because it was approximately 3:30 p.m. when the customer returned the service request form through email and it was close to the end of the workday. When I got to the dealership to pick up and pay the total should have been $336.00 but it was $109.00 that’s when I requested to speak to the manager on duty. I expressed my concern about the CVT and the actions of the vehicle and how it would just take off when trying to park. I was assured that my vehicle was safe to drive, and that sometimes lights just appear because the cars are digital per Shawn the manager on duty and I relied on that representation when leaving the dealership. The vehicle's Auto-Idle Stop (AIS) feature is defective and creates a severe safety hazard. While stopped at a busy road intersection, the feature engaged and shut the engine off normally. However, when releasing the brake pedal to proceed, the engine glitched and completely failed to restart, leaving the vehicle completely stalled, unpowered, and stranded in live traffic. The vehicle became a sit

It happens most often under heavy load. Hot day with AC on, or Cold day with Heater on and seat warmers. Dealer ignored or failed to re-create at first because it was intermittent. My 2023 Kia Sportage EX Hybrid has experienced repeated engine-related failures since October 2022, requiring multiple dealer repairs. The safety issue escalated in 2026 when the vehicle experienced sudden loss of acceleration while driving on highways. In April/May 2026, the vehicle lost acceleration twice within approximately 10–15 minutes. Warning messages appeared, including Check Engine Lig
... ht and "Check Hybrid System – Stop Safely." The accelerator became unresponsive, requiring the vehicle to be moved to the shoulder. The dealer diagnosed P0030 and P1120 and replaced the Bank 1 Sensor 1 oxygen sensor and valve cover assembly with manufacturer technical support involved. Several months later, another highway loss-of-acceleration event occurred. The vehicle would not respond to the accelerator, RPM remained around 1,000, and it had to be safely moved off the road. The dealer diagnosed P2138 and replaced the accelerator pedal assembly. The repeated unexpected loss of acceleration creates a serious safety risk. The root cause remains unknown despite multiple repairs.Read more

My husband immediately called 9-1-1 and requested assistance. I frantically searched the internet for a way to shift to neutral when there is no power to the vehicle, and discovered the manual neutral override is under the vehicle. It was impossible for us to attempt that in this situation. All we could do was sit in the middle of the freeway with our hazard lights on and pray while we waited for law enforcement to arrive while heavy fast-moving traffic flew around us, honking and cursing at us to "get out of the way". This was a very perilous situation and our lives were endangered. We were helpless until CHP officers arrived on scene, followed by a tow company. I am reporting a critical Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve and electrical circuit failure on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The failure resulted in the check engine light illuminating, diagnostic codes identifying an EGR system malfunction, and visible corrosion found within the EGR connector and extension harness. This component breakdown causes severe performance risks, risk of sudden loss
... of engine power, and compromises vehicle safety. Diagnostic & Technical Details: Error Codes Captured: Diagnostic trouble codes in the P0400 series (EGR system flow/circuit malfunction) along with connector/wiring degradation were confirmed during inspection. Root Cause & Symptoms: The failure stems from degradation and electrical shorting risks in the EGR valve assembly and its immediate wiring harness connection. Manufacturer Response & Escalation Denial: When addressing this failure, I discovered that Hyundai has acknowledged widespread EGR valve assembly defects, electrical short risks, and solder flux contamination issues across multiple model years and production lines (such as NHTSA Campaign 24V-308 and subsequent service campaigns like 9B3). However, Hyundai restricts safety recall and warranty coverage strictly based on narrow VIN manufacturing parameters, leaving owners with identical, failing hardware to shoulder exorbitant out-of-pocket repair costs—in my case, quoted at over $2,013. Because a compromised EGR system and corroded electrical harness can cause sudden engine performance failures while driving in traffic, and because Hyundai is limiting its accountability through arbitrary production windows, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this systemic EGR and harness failure on 2022 Tucson Hybrid models and compel Hyundai to expand its safety coverage and reimburse affected owners for necessary repairs.Read more

THROTTLE LAG With the 2026 Mercedes CLE 300, throttle lag is driven by a combination of software programming, transmission behavior, and turbocharger dynamics working simultaneously. The following situation is when it usually occurs:Transitioning from a slow roll up a ramp (like the parking ramp at my condo) or pulling away from an intersection or traffic light or stop sign, you can catch the power
... train in its most vulnerable window for lag.:At low speeds, the combination of specific mechanical and software factors makes that hesitation much more pronounced:or a dead stop, the 9-speed transmission is usually sitting in 1st or 2nd gear. When you need a sudden burst of power to climb a ramp or clear an intersection, (or the pedestrian I alluded to in our conversation), the transmission has to evaluate the demand, disengage the current gear, shift down or match revs, and re-engage. That mechanical shuffle takes a second, but it feels like an eternity. (It’s much more than a second because I will have to put the accelerator all the way down to the floor in order to get a response from the car.•:Torque Converter Slip and Creep Logic: Modern automatic transmissions use torque converter slip to keep low-speed crawling smooth and prevent the car from lurching. When you "goose" the throttle from a crawl, the system has to transition from slip-and-creep mode to locked-up acceleration, which dampens the immediate bite of power to the wheels.:Here are the primary causes behind the hesitation: •Drive-by-Wire Throttle Calibration: Modern Mercedes models use an electronic throttle pedal tuned heavily for fuel efficiency, low emissions, and smooth passenger comfort. The computer deliberately dampens initial pedal inputs to prevent aggressive power surges, creating a physical "dead zone" at the top of the pedal travel. This the precise problem I have. The connecting rod bearings failed, resulting in engine damage. The failed bearings, crankshaft, and oil pan debris have been retained and are available for inspection on request. The vehicle developed a loud ticking noise from the engine. A Honda dealer initially diagnosed the noise as coming from the timing belt tensioner and replaced the timing belt and tensioner. The noise was unchanged after
... that repair. The dealer then traced the noise to the bottom end of the engine and performed a teardown on 07/16/2026, which confirmed connecting rod bearing failure with significant metallic debris throughout the oil pan. The dealer documented the failure with photographs. The engine is not driveable. The problem has therefore been confirmed by an authorized dealer through disassembly. The manufacturer has been notified but has not physically inspected the engine. There has been no police or insurance involvement. Warning symptoms: an audible ticking noise from the engine was the only symptom. No warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other indications appeared at any point before or during the failure. Safety: this failure mode is the subject of NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation PE25008, opened 08/20/2025, covering connecting rod bearing failures leading to complete engine failure in the 3.5L V6, including MY2018-2020 Odyssey. It is also the failure mode described in Recall 23V-751, which states that engine failure may cause loss of motive power and increase the risk of crash and fire. My vehicle falls outside that recall's build range and the manufacturer has declined coverage on that basis.
