I am filing this complaint regarding my 2020 Hyundai Palisade affected by the recall involving the third-row seat airbag not deploying properly and the risk of occupant ejection during a rollover accident. I purchased this vehicle in December 2024 and have experienced a pattern of ongoing mechanical failures, repeated dealership visits, lack of manufacturer support, diminished use of my vehicle, a
... nd financial hardship throughout ownership. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have completed more than 20 oil consumption tests requiring repeated 1,000-mile dealership visits. The issues became so severe that both the engine and transmission ultimately had to be replaced. The unresolved recall has now created an additional major safety concern for my family. Hyundai indicated a remedy was expected by the end of March, but as of now there is still no repair available. This has significantly limited the safe use of my vehicle because the third-row seating cannot safely be used for passengers due to the risk associated with the defective airbag system. This delay is causing financial hardship as well. I intended to use this vehicle through Turo for supplemental income but cannot do so because of the active safety recall. I also have upcoming family travel requiring use of the third row and may now be forced to rent another SUV at my own expense. I currently owe approximately $30,000 on this vehicle and am facing substantial negative equity due to the vehicle’s extensive repair history and unresolved recall status. I am concerned about both passenger safety and Hyundai’s prolonged delay in providing a remedy for a serious safety issue. I am requesting that this complaint be documented as part of the ongoing investigation and oversight regarding Hyundai’s handling of this recall and the delay in providing repairs to consumers.Read more

While attempting to cross 3 lanes of oncoming traffic from a standstill the vehicle lost all power and barely moved 2 feet, irrespective my efforts of stabbing at the throttle, and almost got us killed. Fortunately I slammed on the brakes and barely missed being hit head on. No warning lamps or codes popped up. This is now the 3rd such incident in the 2 months we have owned this vehicle.

Travelling on a highway with 70 MPH posted speed limit, the vehicle dashboard signaled the check engine light and a variety of warnings that "power reduction measure" was enabled and to "service brake assist." At the next available exit, I was able to exit from the highway and go to a gas station, where upon pulling next to a pump the brake pedal became extremely hard and nonresponsive, resulting
... in poor braking, nearly striking the car in front of me, even at a very low speed. Upon a quick internet search, it appeared that other vehicles were having the same issue, and it was recommended not to drive, as well as information referring to an ongoing class action lawsuit. A tow was called and brought to the nearest Chevrolet service center (Nels Gunderson Chevrolet), where they confirmed the brake booster vacuum pump failed (exploded) and sent shrapnel into the camshaft, noting that both would need to be replaced, which is the exact same repair that other vehicles similar to this one are having or have had.Read more

Sudden complete engine failures occurred in my Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van during highway operation while transporting freight, creating a serious safety hazard due to immediate and total loss of engine power in active traffic conditions. The first engine failure occurred at approximately 303,000 miles. The second failure occurred at approximately 140,000 miles after engine replacement. In both ca
... ses, there were no prior warning signs, diagnostic alerts, abnormal noises, or performance issues before sudden and catastrophic engine shutdown. Both incidents occurred while I was operating the vehicle at highway speeds during commercial freight delivery. The engine failed without warning, resulting in immediate loss of propulsion while in traffic. On both occasions, I was forced to rapidly maneuver the disabled vehicle to the shoulder under reduced control and arrange emergency towing to safely remove the vehicle from the roadway and prevent a potential collision or injury. These failures created a significant highway safety risk due to the abrupt loss of power while merging, traveling in traffic flow, and operating at speed. A sudden engine shutdown in these conditions could result in a rear-end collision, loss of control, or multi-vehicle accident, particularly in high-speed or heavy traffic environments. The repeated nature of catastrophic engine failure following engine replacement raises concern about a potential underlying defect in the engine system, components, or related assemblies, or possible unresolved mechanical or installation-related issues. The recurrence of identical failure conditions under similar operating circumstances increases concern that this may not be an isolated incident. ubject: URGENT SAFETY INCIDENT REPORT: Engine Seizure at Highway Speeds – Case #xxx To the Toyota Safety & Compliance Department: I am writing to formally report a critical safety incident involving my 2024 Toyota Tundra (VIN: [XXX] ). Incident Description: While traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle’s engine suffered a catastrophic internal seizure and shut down completely without any p
... rior warning. This resulted in an immediate loss of motive power in the middle of high-speed traffic. Because the engine died, I also experienced an immediate loss of power steering assist and power brake vacuum, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. I was forced to perform an emergency maneuver to avoid a rear-end collision and struggled to steer the truck toward the shoulder while other vehicles swerved around me at high speeds. Safety Hazard & Manufacturing Defect: This failure is identical to the conditions described in NHTSA Safety Recall 24V-381 (Toyota Recall 25TA14). The dealership's diagnosis at AutoNation Toyota Weston confirmed that the bearings are discolored and "spun," which is a direct consequence of the manufacturing debris that Toyota has already admitted exists in these engine blocks. Bad-Faith Warranty Denial: Despite the life-threatening nature of this event, the dealership is attempting to blame "abuse" based on a software log from the Brake Override System. They are ignoring the fact that a metallurgical failure of the main bearings has no mechanical link to pedal input. Using a safety software record to deny a repair for a known manufacturing defect that nearly caused a fatal accident on the highway is unacceptable. Requested Action: I demand that this case be immediately reviewed by Toyota’s safety team. My vehicle manifested the exact defect described in the federal recall during a high-risk situation. I am requesting an immediate resolution to remove this dangerous vehicle from the road and to honor the terms of the INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FORead more

... day, approximately 20 minutes ago, the same issue occurred again while driving — the engine stalled unexpectedly and switched into accessory mode. After the first incident on May 12, I checked the oil level and it appeared full. Today, after the second stall, I checked the oil again and found it significantly low, around 1–2 quarts remaining. The vehicle required approximately 3 quarts of oil to return to full. I want this formally documented because I am concerned there may be an ongoing engine issue related to excessive oil consumption and/or engine failure despite the prior SC209 recall repair having been completed. I have only had the car 27 days.Read more

The oil pump is exhibiting erratic oil pressure behavior, verified by certified BMW technicians. This behavior has been documented by BMW to indicate that the oil pump can fail without warning, leading to an Uncommanded Loss of Propulsion Angle. The sudden and unexpected loss of power-assisted steering and braking, when the engine stalls in active traffic, can lead to death of the occupants or oth

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine is experiencing excessive oil consumption. The vehicle rapidly burns through engine oil between oil changes without visible external leaks. The condition appears related to the engine lubrication and internal engine components. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2.
... How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The excessive oil consumption creates a risk of sudden engine failure, engine seizure, loss of power while driving, or vehicle stalling in traffic. This creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle could lose acceleration or stop unexpectedly while driving at highway speeds or in traffic conditions, increasing the risk of an accident or injury. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The excessive oil consumption has been consistently reproduced during normal driving conditions. The vehicle requires frequent oil top-offs between oil changes. The issue has been discussed with a dealership/repair facility, and the symptoms are consistent with widespread Kia engine oil consumption complaints. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle will be inspected by a Kia dealership or repair facility regarding the excessive oil consumption issue. No police or insurance inspection has occurred related to this issue. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Symptoms included rapid oil loss between oil changes, the need to frequently add oil, and concerns about low oil levels. Warning indicators related to low oil or engine performance appeared after the oil consumption worsened. According to service records from Walmart dated December 29, 2023, the issue was present at that time and has progressivelyRead more

I am writing to formally log a critical safety and product reliability complaint regarding my Hyundai Elantra GT. The vehicle has suffered catastrophic engine failure characterized by severe rod knock. This failure occurred without any prior warning from the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic systems, exposing an engineering and sensor flaw that creates an immediate safety hazard. The vehicle was opera
... ting normally when it suddenly developed a distinct, heavy metallic knocking sound from the engine block, indicative of failed connecting rod bearings. Upon immediate inspection, the issue was linked to critical oil starvation or pressure drops.Crucially, the vehicle’s warning systems failed entirely to alert me to an issue:No Low Oil Pressure Warning: The dashboard oil pressure light never illuminated to warn of low pressure or critical oil level depletion. No Check Engine Light (CEL): The engine sensors failed to detect underlying mechanical distress, oil degradation, or early-stage misfires before the catastrophic failure occurred.Complete System Silence: The vehicle gave absolutely no visual or audible alerts on the instrument cluster, depriving me of the chance to pull over safely and shut off the engine to prevent total destruction. This sensor failure is an unacceptable safety risk. Total engine seizure at highway speeds can cause a sudden loss of motive power, power steering, and braking assist, endangering my life and the lives of others on the road. The failure of Hyundai’s diagnostic sensors to communicate active oil or mechanical breakdown directly directly caused this total engine loss.I request that Hyundai review this case immediately, investigate the failure of the warning systems, and provide financial remediation for the required engine replacement.I look forward to your prompt response regarding the next steps for a corporate review.Read more

While driving on a high-speed interstate with two children in the vehicle, and without any prior warning signs or issues, the dashboard began displaying sequential warnings from multiple Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensors. As the vehicle continued cycling through numerous dashboard warnings, the power steering failed, making the vehicle difficult to control. Additional electronic sy
... stems also began malfunctioning, including the display screen, cameras, and safety sensors, while the driver attempted to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. After reaching the shoulder, the driver powered the vehicle off in an attempt to reset the electrical systems. However, once powered down, the engine would no longer start. When the tow truck arrived, the technician was required to jump-start the battery in order to shift the vehicle into neutral for towing. The technician also showed the driver a low-voltage reading on the jump-start device, indicating a possible alternator or charging-system failure. Hyundai dealership representatives later stated that diagnostic testing of the alternator and electrical system showed no faults and informed the customers that the battery was simply dead. After the dealership replaced the battery, the customers drove the vehicle approximately 15 miles to their residence. During that drive, the vehicle again began displaying the same sequence of sensor and system failures. The power steering failed a second time, and the same electrical malfunctions experienced during the initial incident were repeated.Read more

This is an extremely common issue plaguing Hyundai & Kia vehicles with the Theta III 2.5L Turbo engine, Such as Kia K5 GT, Hyundai Sante Fe, Hyundai Santa Cruz, & Hyundai Sonata N-Line. Its a failing ITM (integrated thermal management) unit or otherwise known as an ITMS unit. There is a rod within the ITM that prevents proper control of the flow of cooling the oil and engine coolant of the engine
... . Results in Cooling issues, such as a cold lower radiator hose while the engine is hot, or 'limp mode' during acceleration, that causes a sudden loss of power while trying to merge on the expressway. There has been other Kia models and years that have had TSB's related to fixing this issue, but Hyundai has released nothing. I have uploaded an example of one of the TSB's that do not apply to my car. Technical symptoms often include: Fans running 100% full duty (high) while the lower radiator hose stays cool. Or Fuel dilution or a 'rich' running engine. Because the engine is overcooling that keeps the car's fueling rich and in a open loop mode affecting emissions and contaminating oil. Personal Details of exactly what happened when i noticed mine was failing. I ran home on my lunch break, and while accelerating on a ramp to get up on a highway, my car started beeping and flashing "Engine Overheated" and i immediately let off the gas with preparation to pull over. The second i left off the gas, the coolant temp within 1-2 seconds went from a little over 3/4 the way up the gauge back to normal a little below half temp. I resumed driving a 3 mile drive back to work, with it showing normal temps the rest of the way. I popped the hood when i got to work to see if coolant was low, and it was completely normal, a little over halfway between the min/max lines. The car continues to run hot, often with the cooling fans running at 100%.Read more

Worst dealership my husband and I ever dealt with. We purchased a 2019 Nissan XD Titan Diesel with warranty. Two days after purchase, the check engine light came on. I called Spencer from the service department to let them know. They took the truck the very next day; it was some issue with the gas tank, so the part was back-ordered. After getting that fixed, the check engine light still never went
... off. I questioned the dealership; all they could say was it was probably a dirty sensor. Then, not even two weeks later, I was leaving a doctor's appointment on the interstate when it threw up a code for low coolant, saying it was about to go into limp mode. So, I made it to the dealership's service station. They said it was okay and couldn't find anything wrong with it, then told me to just keep driving it until it broke down or delete it if it was them. They said, 'You know, we don't deal with a lot of diesel, so it may need to go to another dealership.' Then, two months went by, and we had more issues. We ended up back at the dealership to find out that it now had an oil leak that was quoted to us as a $14,000 job for parts and labor. We also had extended warranty and powertrain, but Spencer failed to file the warranty claim correctly the first time and filed under the wrong warranty, so they denied it. We had to call management to get them to check why, and the problem was that the service department didn't know how to file the correct warranty claim. After that was submitted, my husband asked Spencer directly and the service department if they did rentals through our warranty. They said they don't give rentals at that dealership. Note that we found out later through our warranty that they did pay, but we weren't given that chance. I had been hearing a ticking or clicking sound from the engine. There are three dangerous systems in my 2025 Honda Pilot EX-L that should be permanently disabled or removed by the manufacturer or dealer. In order of danger; (1) Collision Mitigation Braking System, (2) Auto Idle Stop, and (3) Road Departure Mitigation System. All three of these systems have nearly caused wrecks for me several times. The Collision Mitigation Braking System (1) is especially dang
... erous for rear-end collisions to the vehicle using CMBS. Example, I was driving in heavy traffic in the middle lane on I-40 near Hermitage, Tennessee on 23 Apr 2026 with adequate distance between me and the car in front of me. A tractor-trailer was close behind me. Suddenly, a car in the lane to my right moved into the gap in my lane between me and the car that was at a safe distance in front of me. The CMBS activated and started braking the car. I pressed the gas pedal hard to try and maintain my 70 MPH speed to no avail. The tractor-trailer swerved into the lane to my left missing the rear of my car by inches, and avoiding a massive chain reaction collision of many cars. This was a near fatal event for me. Without CMBS, I would have simply held my speed steady until I could create a safe distance and ease into a safer position, possibly in the lane to my right, a much less eventful situation. The Auto Idle Stop (2) has a knack for shutting off the engine when I am trying to make a left turn in heavy traffic. After several near misses, I have learned to turn this system off when starting the engine (the default is on). The Road Departure Mitigation System (3) shakes the steering wheel if the system thinks you are moving out of your lane. It shakes the steering wheel to alert you. Twice, I was caught by surprise and overcorrected the steering when the Road Departure Mitigation System started shaking the steering wheel. So instead of staying in my lane, this almost caused me to go out of my lane and possibly collide with another car or a road barrier.Read more

2020 3.0 diesel duramax sucked in the antifreeze and caused a hydrolock. The dealer says that it is not covered under warranty since the engine was over 100k miles. Multiple warning lights lit up after starting car and driving for a short distance (less than 5 feet). Honda mechanic diagnosed it as a misfire in cylinder likely due to carbon buildup or other unknown reason. Similar incidents have happened with other 2019 Honda Fit and an extension of warranty was issued for some vehicles but not all (SB 23-042). Unfortunately, mine was apparently not covered de

In October of 2025 my husband noticed that our car was idling roughly and checked that there was plenty of oil in the system. The dipstick was pretty much empty so my husband added approximately 3 quarts of oil to bring it up to a little over half. After a thousand miles he checked to make sure it was still holding stead just in case. When he did so the dip stick again showed nearly empty. On appr
... oximately October 13, 2025 we took our vehicle into the local Kia Service center and they informed us that we would have to do an oil consumption test. The results of this test were that we were losing 2 quarts of oil per 1000 miles. We asked what could be done to remedy the situation and were told we would have to pay $900 for a chemical treatment that "might fix the problem". They said if the $900 cleaning did not work we would have to pay to have the engine repaired/replaced which we simply can't afford. Upon doing some research online we found that this was a problem that a lot of people had not just with our product year but that previous cars of the same make and model had a class action lawsuit due to similar issues. We drive 85 miles per day 5 days a week and feel that this is a major safety hazard. We also have a [XXX] daughter who would potentially be impacted if something happened while driving on the interstate. This is our only vehicle and is essential to our jobs as I work as a rehab director and occupational therapy assistant in a memory care facility and my husband is an assistant manager with a local business that requires him to use our car daily. We sent certified letters to Kia Corporate on Monday May 11, 2026 after attempting to deal with the dealership directly regarding these problems with no remedies offered there. Yesterday, my husband called Kia Corporate and they claimed that they hadn't received the letter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Hard downshift caused my truck to slow suddenly and became very hesitant where the vehicle behind me had to slam on their brakes. I then pulled over when it was safe, turned the truck off and then attempted to turn back on with no success due to the shift indicator no longer lighting up. This matches up with the current recall for this particular vehicle.

the first indication of an issue was oil consumption. It was using more oil than usual around the 70K mile mark. Then it started misfiring, and soon after a knocking noise coming from the engine. There are no check engine light on, after bringing it in for diagnostics, it read that it was a spark plug, once they got into the engine they discovered the cylinder had been stripped from the piston.
