I purchased my vehicle 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 from Mercedes Dealership in Ontario, and had it for only about 4 months before it catching on fire while parked at the doctors office. I purchased it [XXX], and it caught fire on [XXX] while at the doctors. I didn't drive much since I work from home. Primary reason for purchase was to have a working and safe vehicle to transport family to their doc

I have the police report and fire report as well. At the time of purchase, I asked if there was anything wrong or if any know issues with vehicle, I was reassured no issues. Reviewing the insurance CCC report, I come to find out the vehicle has 3 recalls with possibility of fire incidents. The carfax provided doesn't say that either recall issue was performed as another recall issue with the fuel pump was performed and disclosed. Beyond devastated that I have no vehicle now and that I expected this one to last much much longer. There was no indication of anything wrong with the vehicle, no warning lights nor check engine. Fire was indicated to start in engine compartment on the passengers side by the fire investigator. This incident affected 3 families. As a teacher, I find everyone's life precious and its sickening to know that my life and other lives were in danger. I have less than 100,000 miles on my 2018 Kia sorento. When I reached probably 50,000 miles this car went DOWN HILL. I feel like I’ve replaced everything on this car. Now every oil change was saying no oil on the dip stick, so I take it to the Kia dealership. They tell me that I need an ENTIRE engine. My car is less than 100,000 miles. I saw something that said if it was under that threshold, it
... could be covered but they said they couldn’t find anything. This car has been failing me. I still owe HALF of the car, what it’s not even worth on carfax anymore. AND the engine cost is exactly 50% of what I owe on this car. I don’t know what to do, but never buy a Kia again. This is a hazard for everyone around me the gas it is putting into the air. I don’t know what else to do. I even paid them to do an oil change and the oil light lit up as SOON as I left the parking lot. There are no leaks whatsoever. I even had someone from the Kia engine settlement verify my VIN # and told me that it was eligible and she told me that everything would be taken care of at the dealership without charge. She then told me to wait for the dealership to call and let me know because I was on hold while they were talking. But right after I received a call asking how I was going to pay for it because they could not find anyway to cover it. I don’t know how to ask for a second opinion. Kia is never available to speak with or try to resolve the issue. This has just been a nightmare.Read more

... rk. My brother who is a auto mechanic suggested I needed a new battery by now so I did that. Once I replaced the battery on my car I noticed that I didn't have headlights, power steering or heat working in my car. He came to my home and checked my engine and noticed that my alternator was covered in oil. I remembered that I took my car to the dealership for this issue with the Service campaign. I've been back and forth with this issue between the dealership and corporate to look at this issue. The dealership can't provide any photo proof or documentation stating what work was done. The dealership claimed that Hyundai doesn't need photo proof as of 2023 and started needing it in 2024, they simple state that the work was done and sign the car off on the recall. I don't see how this isn't a safety issue when the description of the campaign says that my vehicle can shut off while driving causing a crash. I have a family that I drive in this vehicle and our safety isn't being a concerning issue with this matter because "It's outside of the warranty" that shouldn't matter if the dealership can not provide any proof that work was done besides putting a oil shield on the vehicle. The head gasket leak didn't seem to be resolved if the alternator is saturated in oil enough that it doesn't hold a charge.Read more

This is only 5 or 6 seconds after the warning lights had started, and it was clear that the fire inside of the engine bay was substantial. I managed to coast to the back of the parking lot, away from other cars and people, and found a curb "island" that I could run into in order to stop the vehicle. I effectively crashed the car, and at this point the flames had increased. I ran out of the vehicle and shouted for people to call 911. RECALL NO: 19V-868 | VIN: [XXX] | CASE #: [XXX] VEHICLE: 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 (X204) DESCRIPTION OF SAFETY PROBLEM: This complaint concerns a failure to adequately remedy NHTSA Recall 19V-868. Since [XXX], my vehicle has been grounded at Mercedes-Benz of Westmont. The dealer performed the recall out of sequence, ignored documented circuit faults, and refused mandatory Xentry commissioning and
... SCN Normalization, leaving the SRS system inoperative and uncertified. NHTSA records (Ex B-27) confirm the recall remains "Incomplete." MANUFACTURER ABANDONMENT OF SAFETY OVERSIGHT: On Feb 26, 2026, an MBUSA Executive Referral Manager (Case #[XXX]) stated by phone he would not read my 61-page safety complaint and classified the failure to verify the recall as a "dealer issue" due to franchise laws. Only 28 minutes after admitting he would not read the file, he sent an email falsely claiming he had "reviewed the documentation" and closed the case. By refusing to audit a documented failure to certify a safety repair, MBUSA is in active violation of its duty to ensure recall completion under 49 U.S.C. § 30120. COERCIVE SAFETY THREAT (49 U.S.C. § 30122): Service Manager Blake Farmer and Advisor Harry Arroyo explicitly threatened to remove the new airbag and reinstall the original defective recalled inflator (Ex B-6) during a billing dispute. This is a direct violation of 49 U.S.C. § 30122, which prohibits a dealer from knowingly making a safety system inoperative. DEALER NEGLIGENCE & ADDITIONAL RISKS: Dealer negligence regarding Part #204-440-68-41 (Ex B-17, B-26) caused a 5-day delay, resulting in a nationwide backorder. Furthermore, technician video (Ex B-10) shows an active oil leak (Code P2610-29), a fire/stalling hazard per MBUSA TSB LI05.20-P-067123 that the dealer refused to diagnose. While driving at approximately 70 mph on an interstate highway, the vehicle intermittently loses propulsion during acceleration. Engine power drops suddenly and the vehicle coasts for several seconds before power returns. This has occurred multiple times and creates an immediate safety hazard due to sudden loss of speed in active traffic lanes. The engine also produces a loud rattle at cold start
... . These symptoms began at approximately 70,000 miles and progressively worsened. A Ford dealership later diagnosed cam phaser failure at 88,938 miles. The loss of propulsion occurs without warning lights or driver alerts. Sudden reduction in engine power at highway speeds increases the risk of rear-end collision or loss of vehicle control. This condition presents a significant safety concern.Read more

Internal oil consumption. With no oil puddled or spattered under the vehicle at time of purchase from a dealership or since then, a dealer certified vehicle with AFM at 153 miles from leaving the dealer the oil was non-existant on the dipstick. This directly indicates a TSB, Techical Service Bulletin involving the cause of failed lifters causing internal oil consumption and damage to lifters, cam
... shaft, push rods, rings and possibly more. This is a common result of the Active Fuel Management system which shuts off some of the cylinders for fuel economy for Chevrolet V6 and V8 engines. The problem was reported to the dealer by me imediately after the oil check at 153 miles and then towed to the dealer. As this is considered a catastrophic amount of oil loss, the vehicle could've been rendered inoperatable during operation in traffic and been a servere safty hazard. The dealer after initial inspection sent me a message that they think the problem is an undetectable small leak so they put some dye in the oil to check it. Which evades the actual internal consumption problem of 1.5 to 2 or more quarts of oil lost in just 153 miles by that ratio that would amount to 13 quarts per 1,000 miles. And helps them stall for time, to try to run out the very short 3 month/3000 mile drivetrain warranty. There was noticable erratic engine performance and some shudder but that shudder may have come from the transmission. The odometer read was 115690 at purchase and 115843 when towed=153 miles driven from when the certified inspection was performed for a loss of 1.5 to 2 quarts that I know of, it could have been much more oil missing. A suddenly inoperatable vehicle in town at intersections or on the highway at high speeds could be deadly for myself or others in traffic. I took and have videos of checking the dipstick to show it dry but it's an mp4 file which I don't see a place to upload it here. Available upon request.Read more

Also related to this issue when the loud clicking noise comes from the Transmission while the car is off when I go to start the car it won’t turn over have to pump the gas pedal or put it in neutral and it will turn over. Also have had other dashboard messages a lot recently, but haven’t drove my car in 2 weeks as it’s unsafe as will stall up at stoplights. These include “Transmission overheated”. The authorized dealer, Cochran Mazda, previously bypassed the vehicle’s hybrid system and returned the vehicle to us stating it was safe to operate and that we could disregard warning messages until a replacement hybrid battery became available. Prior to this, we had reported repeated drivability concerns, including jerking during operation. We were advised that this behavior was normal for hyb

While awaiting a follow-up service appointment, the vehicle displayed a “Critical Engine Malfunction” warning and experienced a significant loss of power while traveling across the Liberty Bridge in Pittsburgh, PA. The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact felt ill and pulled over to the side of the road. The contact stated that a passerby stopped and found the contact unconscious inside the vehicle. The ambulance was called to the scene, and the contact was taken to the hospital. The doctor determined that the contact had 27% of carbon mon
... oxide inside the body. The contact received oxygen to expel the carbon monoxide. The vehicle remained near the walking trail where the contact had pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. Prior to the issue, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal and went into LIMP Mode. The contact stopped by Auto Zone for a diagnostic test. The contact was unsure what code was found. The doctor believed that the carbon monoxide poisoning was related to the vehicle. The insurance company was notified, and a claim was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.Read more

1. COMPONENT FAILURE & TECHNICAL IMPAIRMENT: The vehicle is experiencing a total failure of its hybrid and internal combustion systems. On Jan 30, 2026, the vehicle received the "68C" battery software update. By Feb 6, the system failed, rendering Electric Mode Unavailable and triggering "Electric Mode unavailable" warnings. This is not a software glitch; it is a failure of the manufacturer's offi
... cial remedy to conform the vehicle to warranty. Additionally, documented external oil pooling on the engine cover indicates internal pressure/seal failure directly related to the sand-contamination defect in Recall 78C. 2. HIGH SAFETY RISK: My safety is at extreme risk every time I operate this vehicle. • Recall 78C (Engine Fire/Failure): The manufacturer admits a 100% defect rate for my engine block (NHTSA 25V766). The defect involves abrasive sand circulating in the engine, which leads to "catastrophic engine failure" or fire. Stellantis has issued an advisory in multiple jurisdictions because this failure can happen without warning at highway speeds. • Recall 68C (Battery Fire): The high-voltage battery has an internal short-circuit risk. The fact that my EV system failed on Feb 6 proves the internal battery cells are unstable. Driving a vehicle with a known high-voltage fire risk and an unfixable engine defect creates an intolerable safety hazard for me and other motorists. 3. SUBSTANTIAL IMPAIRMENT OF VALUE AND USE: The vehicle’s value has been destroyed. I am paying for a high-performance hybrid that cannot use electricity and an engine that is self-destructing from the inside. Because the manufacturer has no remedy for 78C after 3+ months, the vehicle is fundamentally unrepairable. The safety directives (Park Outside/No Charging) and the physical mechanical failures constitute a total impairment of the vehicle I purchased.Read more

On December 19, 2025, the vehicle showed lights that a sparkplug had misfired. The dealer notified me that in less than two full years of having the 2023 vehicle, it required a complete engine rebuild. This is the third major engine problem I have had with the vehicle with more than $20K in fees. The services performed in December 2025 repairs included Cylinder Head Assembly to Replace Engine Cyli
... nder Head Assemble due to multiple cylinder head fault codes, including misfire, injector injection, and mixture formation code. Cylinder 2 is leaking out of the exhaust valve. Camshaft replacement and rollers due to deep scoring on both intake and exhaust cams, not by cylinder two. Exhaust valve leaking from the head while the camshafts are scoring, leading to misfiring as well.Read more

The oil filter housing is known to leak, crack or break in standard weather conditions. This can be exacerbated by extreme climate or by simply storing the vehicle outside of a climate controlled area. The hazards posed start with the slow but continuous leak of engine oil from the housing down the transmission and driveline to the ground. This is an environmental hazard to ground water and plant
... life. The oil can also contaminate roadways leading to slick spots in the road coupled with icy conditions this could cause for large scale vehicular incidents. Lastly if this issue goes unchecked and the oil leaks out of the engine entirely or to a low enough level it could cause the engine to seize in some shape or fashion. This would cause the aforementioned hazards to occur all at once culminating a catastrophic hazard event.Read more

Purchased a 2019 Lincoln MKC from Mazda and Stokes on Ashley phosphate in North Charleston, South Carolina. I was told that the vehicle had recalls and they identify the recalls about the battery and the rear camera when I asked was there anything else wrong with the vehicle, they said no when I drove the vehicle home after a few days the engine light came on. After doing some diagnostics at the d

I took it home and after about a week, the engine light came back on for the same problem after further diagnostic come to find out that if this problem persist is because of coolant intrusion come to find out that this is common among engines that are 2.0 L Eco boost engine engines in the 2019 Lincoln MKC. I am making a complaint because I found out also that I will not get reimburse my money. Neither will they take the vehicle back. I called the Lincoln dealership and they will not do a Goodwill repair so I purchased a car about three weeks ago with them, knowing this problem and did not disclose it to me or told me about it cause this is common knowledge for this vehicle and they sold it to me and now I have payments on a broke vehicle, which I can’t afford $11,000 new engine or a long block.Read more

Why is the Crankcase Ventilation System P052E Code (PCV) covered in most Mercedes models, but not the GLA?
