Update – April 1, 2026 (NHTSA Complaint #XXX) Today, April 1, 2026, at XXX I was informed that the engine replacement will not proceed because “the 3 years or 36,000 miles have passed.” This is incorrect. My Kia Soul 2022, VIN [XXX] , currently has 44,649 miles and was purchased in 2021. Kia’s Powertrain warranty is 10 years / 100,000 miles for the original owner and covers the engine. The
... basic 5-year/60,000-mile warranty does not apply in this case. On February 2, 2026, the technician documented stuck oil control rings allowing oil to enter the compression area, causing excessive oil consumption. A PWA was requested for full engine replacement. I have three failed oil consumption tests (more than 1 quart per 1,000 miles) and low compression on piston 3 (145 PSI). This would be the second major engine intervention in less than one year. The dealer is proposing only a partial repair of pieces, which does not solve the root cause and represents a safety risk (engine damage, possible fire, or loss of power), as warned in the official Kia letter I received. I request that NHTSA review this unjustified denial of warranty repair and require Kia to honor the Powertrain coverage. Attached: Technician notes from February 2, 2026, the three oil consumption tests, official Kia Puerto Rico letter, full repair history, and denial communication from April 1, 2026. Thank you. Unintentional acceleration.First, I was in line at car wash proceeding slowly ahead as directed in line. Foot on accelerator lightly moving, when car surged rapidly hitting back end of Tesla about 6-8 ft ahead (2/26/26 12:30pm) Impact strong enough to push Tesla into truck hitch damaging it front of it as well. Applied brake, but impact was too rapid. Second incident with my Volvo was a month la
... ter(3/22/26 about 10:30 am) and my husband was driving. . Made right turn on green light and started to accelerate when it revived and surged forward until applied brake. Dealer could not replicate. No codes but repair shop had to recalibrate after 1st incident and may have lost code on 1st incident(wreck). Now that insurance knows what happened, I don't know if they will intervene. hopefully. No warnings went off or messages. Airbag did not deploy. I believe that this is an unintentional acceleration, especially occurring twice now. Dealership says car is safe and they will monitor. I guess it means when we have another incident. Hopefully not fatal to us or anyone else. Dealer says it is a transition from hybrid electric to gas. But I have had this car 4yrs10months and this never happened until now. And the transition never has thrown me back in my seat or had the engine rev. The battery was replaced last August because of bad cell and recall on it for fire hazard. Maybe this could have an affect. On first incident I was in shock so thought maybe in hit accelerator instead of break, but when second incident occurred and it was exactly like first except no collision. Thatshow I originally reported to insurance and police as my fault. But that's not true. Now I called insurance to report dual incidents, two different drivers with unintentional acceleration. A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the RPMs but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil in
... dicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on Reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.Read more

I experienced an unexpected Loss of Motive Power (LOMP) event. Late afternoon traffic was fast, estimate 75-80 MPH. I attempted to change lanes get to the righthand shoulder and was very nearly involved in a high-speed collision with a semi-petroleum tank truck. He applied his brakes to avoid hitting me and started to jackknife, but regained control and continued. The truck missed by inches.
... At this point I had NO remaining power and was essentially coasting until I managed to cross the remaining two lanes of traffic to the shoulder emergency lane. I reset the error codes and continued home with no further occurrences. The incident produced the following warning lamps: Electronic Throttle Control Failure, Start/Stop System Failure and Check Engine, then a few seconds later the Limp Mode/LOMP event. I carry an OBD Scanning Tool with me to be able to clear the error codes when I encounter them. They are typically a cascading event that can result in LOMP. I have experienced a total of 26 of these error lamp events since 4/19/22 which have resulted in 3 LOMP's. The remaining 23 events I was able to reset before the inevitable LOMP. This is the first LOMP that nearly caused a fatal accident, the remainder I was able to safely find a place to stop to perform the resets. There is an active Manufacturer Recall Number93C, NHTSA Recall Number25V-586 that may cover this issue. The Recall Status is "Incomplete, remedy not yet available." The Alfa Romeo dealership has noted the P0191-00 error and replaced the fuel pressure sensor on 2/23/23, but this did not solve the problem. Owner's forums, and now the Manufacturer/NHTSA recall have reported this as a known problem, so I have been clearing my own error codes in order to at least have a car to drive. In my mind, this nuisance has now become a potentially very dangerous condition.Read more

Vehicle was taken to an authorized Mazda dealership for 60,000-mile service; coolant system drained and refilled. Dealership retained vehicle, drove ~300 miles, performed a second coolant flush; issue persisted. Dealer determined heater core clogged, attributed to coolant cont
... amination/corrosion introduced during service. Another CX-5 at the same dealership experienced the same issue. Safety Concerns: Heater and coolant system failure may affect cabin comfort and engine temperature monitoring. Occurred immediately after authorized service, suggesting procedural or system-related defect. Noted in Mazda Technical Service Bulletin 07-007/19 as a known issue. Attempts at Resolution: Mazda offered partial goodwill assistance (~$775–$875) and assigned partial responsibility to the customer. Multiple attempts to escalate with Mazda Customer Experience (Case manager Betty) have not resulted in a satisfactory resolution. This failure is identical to the defect described in NHTSA Safety Recall 23V-751 (Honda Recall XG1/GG0): premature connecting rod bearing wear and seizure caused by improperly ground crankshaft crank pins. My vehicle is a 2016 Honda Pilot, a model year explicitly covered under the recall. However, my VIN was not included in the identified recall population, and Honda of Tomball has not offered to cover the repair under the recall. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether my vehicle's crankshaft contains the same manufacturing defect, and that Honda be required to extend recall coverage to my VIN. While driving my 2021 Cadillac Escalade on an interstate highway at approximately 70 mph with my family, including two minor children, the vehicle suddenly and without warning lost propulsion, shut off, and shifted into neutral. This occurred in active traffic and created an immediate safety hazard. A warning message appeared instructing me to restart the vehicle. After several minutes navigating
... traffic, I was able to restart the vehicle briefly and exit the highway. Shortly thereafter, additional dashboard alerts appeared indicating critical engine and transmission failure. After exiting the highway, the vehicle shut down completely at a traffic signal and failed to restart. The vehicle was immobilized in an active roadway until police assistance arrived to prevent a rear‑end collision and a flatbed tow was arranged. The sudden loss of propulsion at highway speed placed vehicle occupants and surrounding motorists at serious risk. The vehicle is available for inspection and was diagnosed as having a seized engine on March 9, 2026, by Diamond Cadillac in [XXX] . This failure did not occur without warning. Prior to this incident, I repeatedly reported excessive oil consumption to the selling dealer, Otto Cadillac, from whom I purchased the vehicle in April 2025 as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. On two separate service visits, I reported oil consumption exceeding two quarts between recommended service intervals and requested that this be documented. I was advised that the consumption was “within tolerance” and was later informed—incorrectly—that this tolerance applied to my engine configuration. Otto Cadillac performed a recall-related inspection and implemented the manufacturer-directed remedy consisting of an oil cap replacement and a change in oil viscosity to SAE 40. No mechanical repair or deeper diagnostic action was taken. The subsequent engine seizure confirms that these mitigation measures did not resolve the underlying defect. I paid to have the torque converter replaced; however, the same transmission problem has returned. Ford has declined to provide further assistance. Additionally, the check engine light is now illuminated, which Ford attributes to a software issue. Despite multiple repair attempts and clear safety concerns, these problems remain unresolved. I am submitting this formal complaint regarding serious mechanical and safety issues with my 2020 Buick Enclave. These issues have created ongoing financial hardship, significant safety concerns, and an urgent need for investigation and resolution. Over the past several months, my vehicle has repeatedly displayed low‑oil notifications, sometimes occurring within one month of receiving a full oil
... change. During a recent visit to my mechanic for yet another low‑oil alert, he recalled that I had previously brought the vehicle in for the same issue. After conducting a more thorough inspection, he informed me that there was a failure within the engine/transmission assembly. He showed me the area where oil was seeping from the engine. I also inspected the oil filter and oil plug, both of which showed no signs of leakage. Following this diagnosis, I brought the vehicle to Royal Buick GMC. Their service department performed a SAVI Dongle test and a GM‑Certified Multi‑Point Inspection. The service technician informed me that the vehicle requires a complete engine replacement including the following: replacement of the engine, repair of a rear main seal failure, resealing of the oil pan, and replacement of the lower control arm. It is my belief that these issues are consistent with reported problems. In addition to the oil‑related failures, I have experienced sudden acceleration and jerking while driving. These incidents are alarming and pose a serious risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. I am deeply concerned that this defect could lead to an accident through no fault of my own. This vehicle is my only means of transportation for work and for caring for my family. The cost and severity of the required repairs are catastrophic, and I believe the manufacturer should be held responsible for addressing these defects. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate these issues and assist in ensuring that GM/Buick replaces the engine for its safe operation.Read more

Second complete powertrain failure on March 14, 2026 at 13,993 miles, nine days after first repair (complete transmission replacement for bone-dry sealed transmission). Symptoms: sudden loss of power on highway (unable to exceed 20 mph with accelerator fully depressed), hollow sound, noise described as "like a rock tumbling around inside." OnStar diagnostics returned "No Error Code Found" twice (1
... 1:14 AM and 11:17 AM) during active failure. Dealer (Loveland Buick GMC) diagnosed "battery issue" but provided indefinite loaner with no return date. Symptoms are consistent with engine bearing or connecting rod failure matching Cook et al. v. General Motors (Case No. 1:26-cv-00229, D. Del., filed March 4, 2026) covering 1.2L/1.3L turbo engines in the Buick Encore platform. Complaint alleges GM knew about defect "since 2022, if not earlier" and instructed dealers to tell consumers vehicles are "operating normally." First failure involved sealed transmission running with zero fluid. Skipped oil change after transmission repair (documented in GM Executive Resolution emails) may have allowed metal contamination to damage engine components. Requesting investigation into whether dealer's "battery" diagnosis was accurate or whether actual diagnostic codes indicate engine failure consistent with Cook v. GM class pattern.Read more

I'm concerned that this could have happened while driving and having him with me or being left stranded somewhere.I'm glad it didn't happen when I was dropping him off that morning and while I was driving And meanwhile while they look at the issue and decide weather this falls under there recall or not and while it gets repaired I'm left without a vehicle and to be honest I don't feel safe even if they do repair it as there seems to not be an actual fix to the situation. this is unsafe and unacceptable for the price we have to pay for these rigs and the safety regulations and standards we have, how is this even an issue.Read more

Oil pan leaks. The F150 just crossed 70,000 miles. At just under 60,000 miles the truck had what the Ford Service tech described as a weap from the oil pan. He said it was a costly repair so just to watch it. At 65,000 it was a steady drip when the oil was warm. Now at 70,000 the Ford dealer is recommending a replacement. What I have learned is this is a common failure on 2015 to 2017 F150s
... with the 2.7L engine. I suspect this was happening earlier but the Ford Dealer was relucant to bring it up as it would have at the time been covered under warranty. I have also now learned Ford is on its 3rd TSB for resolving this common leak at the oil pan. Hopefully this will warrant a recall response from Ford. From research this is a very common failure and engine damage will occur if the leaking oil pan is not repaired. Please investigate as I suspect there are numerous complaints. Thank you.Read more
