The first time, while driving at 50-55mph, the engine decelerated suddenly. After about 10-15 seconds struggles with the gas pedal and brake pedal, the car accelerated normally. I pulled safely to side of the road to shut off the engine and start again. Things seemed to work like normal. The control panels did not show any warning signs. Like the first time, the control panels did not display any warning signs. I took the car to the Audi dealer garage and they couldn't identify the problems. They performed two "engine software updates" and said hopefully it should address the engine decelerate issue. I was charged $299 for the diagnostic tests. ... r. The February 24, 2026 failure produced smoke while parked among other vehicles and trees. A tow truck operator disconnected the pump to prevent a potential fire. Dealer did not replace relay alongside the pump, inconsistent with WTM-73 as revised by WTM-73R (July 11, 2017). The relay subsequently failed, requiring a separate visit. Components are unavailable for inspection. The problems were confirmed and repaired by an authorized Subaru dealership in Sterling, VA. Service records document both failures. For the February 2026 repair, the dealership mistakenly concluded the repair was under warranty and completed it as such - then later tried to backtrack and make me pay. The March 2026 return visit confirmed blown fuses and a failed relay due to incomplete initial repair, which the dealership also made me pay, but later reimbursed me after I referenced the revised recall notice. March 4, 2024: P2444 diagnostic code and a hissing noise. Repair costs not reimbursed as the recall does not cover my vehicle's production date. Vehicle experienced misfires, triggering many different warning systems on the dash. It took several trips to the mechanics to diagnose, but the cause was eventually determined to be a broken head gasket and turbocharger. The issue began sometime between the 90 and 100k mark. Diagnostic codes were not of any assistance when trying to find the source issue. Vehicle is available for inspection upon
... request. Potential engine failure at any mileage is a serious issue that could have impacted one of several road trips if had the source of the issue had it not been found. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue for potential safety related defect trends involving excessive oil consumption that progress to catastrophic engine failure in 2020 Kia Sportages equipped with the 2.4L engine. The vehicle consumed oil at an abnormal rate between oil changes despite routine maintenance and regular oil level checks, and the condition ultimately resulted in a non-o
... perational vehicle. Over the months leading up to the failure, I was forced to add oil at least monthly and began checking the oil level more frequently due to the rate of loss. I maintain my vehicle carefully and have consistently kept up with oil changes. In March 2026, the vehicle broke down after I experienced a sudden loss of power and stalling, and the engine ultimately failed and left the vehicle non-operational. When an engine consumes oil rapidly and then stalls or loses power unexpectedly, drivers can face an increased risk of a crash particularly if the failure occurs at highway speeds or in traffic. I have found numerous similar complaints posted online by other Kia owners describing the same pattern of excessive oil consumption followed by sudden loss of power, stalling, and/or engine failure. While I understand online posts are not formal findings, the volume and consistency of these reports suggest a broader trend that warrants NHTSA review for potential defects and safety impacts. After the failure, I had the vehicle towed to Kia of [XXX] . The service department advised that the engine requires replacement and quoted approximately $14,000 for the repair. The invoice I received (#XXX) states that the technician recommends “short block motor replacement,” but the dealership verbally stated they would not perform only a short block replacement and would instead replace the complete engine because, in their view, a short block-only repair would lead to additional problems. What is happening with my vehicle is a major safety concern in my opinion for myself and for my family. I purchased the vehicle on February 18,2026 from Ryan Ford in sealy,TX with approx 32,800 miles. The first incident was on March 16 with 33,718 miles, my daughter and I went to leave the Lowe’s parking lot and my vehicle would not go in reverse. It however would go in drive, so after being pu

Turned vehicle off and on and it went back in gear, after making it home I made and appointment with the dealership and dropped it off that day. I was informed no codes came up and the dealership could not get the issue to duplicate so I received my vehicle back. The second incident was on March 21 trying to leave the convenient store, I put my vehicle in reverse and pressed on the gas to go backward and nothing happened. Then I pressed on the gas again and it threw my vehicle in reverse and jolted my truck back several feet before I could press on the brake. Luckily no one or no object was behind me. The third incident was on April 3rd trying to leave Walmart. My truck would not go in reverse again. I pressed the gas pedal several times and out of nowhere again it threw itself in reverse and jolted my truck back again. (I also have this on video as well).Read more

The vehicle experiences intermittent loss of power and unstable acceleration while driving at normal speeds (approximately 45–55 mph). The vehicle will surge, hesitate, and fail to maintain consistent speed, creating an unsafe condition in traffic. While driving, the vehicle does not consistently respond to throttle input and may unexpectedly lose acceleration. This creates a risk of being rear
... -ended or being unable to safely merge into traffic. The condition occurs during normal driving and has progressively worsened over time. Diagnostic testing indicates transmission-related faults involving pressure control and internal speed monitoring. This issue affects the safe operation of the vehicle and appears consistent with known transmission problems reported for this vehicle model. Supporting documentation has been provided, including manufacturer service program records indicating this vehicle was previously subject to a known transmission-related defect condition.Read more

Incident 1 (Loss of Propulsion in Traffic) - 12/16/25 The vehicle failed to restart immediately after the auto start-stop system attempted to re-engage the engine. Upon attempting to accelerate, the engine did not restart, resulting in a complete loss of propulsion while in active traffic. The vehicle became temporarily inoperable and unresponsive, creating a hazardous condition with elevated risk
... of rear-end collision and inability to safely clear traffic or intersections. Incident 2 (Failure to Start – Reliability Concern) - 4/1/26 On a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to start entirely upon initial startup (first use of the day). The engine did not turn over as expected, rendering the vehicle inoperable. This incident raises significant concerns about system reliability and dependability, particularly given its occurrence independent of the auto start-stop event. Safety Concern: The first incident demonstrates a critical safety defect involving unexpected loss of propulsion in live traffic conditions. The second incident, while occurring at startup, indicates a broader pattern of failure affecting the vehicle’s ability to reliably start and operate. Together, these incidents suggest a potential defect in the starting/ignition or auto start-stop system that may compromise safe vehicle operation and increase the risk of crash or stranding.Read more

Component: Engine/Powertrain/Electrical System Incident Description: I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening "Loss of Motive Power" (Dead Pedal) in a 2024 Hyundai Tucson (Alabama-built). On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to respond to throttle input during high-risk maneuvers, specifically while merging into 45+ MPH traffic. The vehicle "chugs" and stalls, refusing to exceed 15 MP
... H despite full accelerator depression. This defect leaves the vehicle and its occupants stranded and defenseless in the path of oncoming high-speed traffic. Technical Context: This vehicle is currently subject to NHTSA Recall 23V-526 (Hyundai Campaign 246) for electronic controller damage that can cause "CAN communication disruptions." I believe the "Dead Pedal" failure is a direct result of these communication disruptions between the engine and transmission control modules. Furthermore, Hyundai has issued TSB #24-AT-001H-1 for "Hesitation when accelerating," yet the authorized dealer (Ed Voyles Hyundai) has been unable to remedy the defect after 84 cumulative days out of service. Safety Risk: This is not a convenience issue; it is a critical safety failure. The unpredictable nature of the power loss makes it impossible to safely judge gaps in traffic. The vehicle effectively becomes a stationary object on active roadways without warning. Manufacturer Response: The manufacturer has been formally notified via certified legal counsel. Despite 79 consecutive days in the current repair attempt (since Jan 16, 2026), the manufacturer has failed to provide a fix or acknowledge the severity of the safety risk. An informal third-party evaluator attempted to dismiss the claim despite the vehicle's documented inability to maintain motive power. We are requesting that NHTSA investigate the adequacy of Recall 23V-526 and TSB #24-AT-001H-1, as these measures have failed to resolve this life-threatening "Dead Pedal" condition in my vehicle.Read more

I am reporting another engine failure on the 6.2L L87. This engine passed the initial recall testing and the oil was changed to 0W40 on September 30, 2025. However, my engine in my 2023 LT Trail Boss started knocking on Friday, March 20, 2026 (at 22,500 miles) after I picked up my children from school. Thankfully it started as I pulled into my driveway with them so they weren’t in any danger. No
... loss of power on the truck or warning lights visible. However, it was loud enough and odd enough for my [XXX] olds to even notice the sound in the cab. It was dropped off at the dealership on that Saturday morning and the GM dealership was finally able to look at it on Wednesday, March 25th and confirmed what was expected. The advisor stated the engine will need to be replaced due to the engine heading towards bearing/crankshaft failure. I am still currently without my truck as of today (April 4th) with no repair date in sight. I will say that the dealership service advisor has been very good about communicating about its status. However, he stated that he has had no luck finding an new engine and is unable to give a timetable in getting one. He did offer to start a PO for a rental car through enterprise. He stated they are not giving loaners, but could get a rental car. He also stated that it would not be a truck due to GM only giving $50 per day towards a rental. So here I sit currently without my truck. I see multiple reports about the engines being on back order and even the replacement engines are failing within the fist 500 miles. Some reports indicating they are on the third or fourth engine. Something needs to done about getting these trucks bought back by GM. I am filing a complaint regarding a 2021 Kia Sportage that experienced catastrophic engine failure, leaving the vehicle non-drivable despite regular maintenance and documented oil changes. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Kia dealership, located at 402 NJ-35, Keyport, NJ 07735, for evaluation. On or about March 17, 2026, I was informed by the dealership that coverage for engine replacement
... had been denied. At that time, I was not provided with a clear or sufficient explanation for the denial. Due to the lack of explanation and assistance, I escalated the matter to Kia corporate and was assigned a case manager. On March 30, 2026, I was contacted by my assigned case worker from Kia corporate, Marcia, who confirmed that my request for engine replacement remained denied. Again, no specific or sufficient explanation for the denial was provided, despite my attempts to obtain clarification. I made multiple efforts to understand the reason for the denial and to resolve the issue directly with both the dealership and Kia corporate. Despite these efforts, I was not offered a reasonable solution, nor was meaningful assistance provided. The vehicle ultimately stalled out in the middle of a highway. As a result, I am now left with a non-drivable vehicle and a significant financial burden, including an outstanding loan balance on a vehicle that cannot be used. I am also aware that there have been reported concerns, recalls, and investigations involving engine issues in certain Kia vehicles. While I understand each case is reviewed individually, this raises concern that my situation may not be an isolated incident and warrants further review. I believe this outcome is unfair given my documented maintenance history and the severity of the engine failure. I am requesting assistance in obtaining a fair resolution, including reconsideration of the denial and/or financial assistance toward the cost of engine replacement.Read more

We called a tow truck and had the car towed to the dealership that we purchased the vehicle from. They confirmed that the motor was indeed locked up and needs to be replaced. This vehicle already underwent the 6.2L recall test and "PASSED". It was running the 'remedy' 0W-40 oil. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.Read more

CRV 2017 Head Gasket on engine Failure
Incident date: Apr 3, 2026
This car has a faulty motor that Honda is well aware of. The head gaskets crack, and the antifreeze leaks into the cylinder. Specifically, Cylinder 3. My car is at the dealership, and the repairs are 6500. They refuse to acknowledge this problem and currently have a class action lawsuit because of this very issue. I need a car because I am a full-time student.

After a Hyundai dealership installed the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) update to prevent engine bearing failure and potential fires in certain Theta II, Nu, and Gamma engines, my Elantra GT is stuck in limp mode and will no longer accelerate. Since it takes my car a very long time to reach safe driving speeds, I took the car back to the dealership and they conveniently blamed the catalytic
... converter. I went for a ride with a California BAR associate, and he agreed that the update was causing my engine to go into limp mode, and it wasn't a symptom of a plugged CAT, but he was unable or unwilling to help me. Hyundai acknowledged that the engine does qualify for the Theta II extended warranty but will not explore that possibility until I have them replace the cat for $3,300, which we both know isn't going to solve anything. I have contacted Hyundai Corporate Customer Relations, and even the BBB, who refuses to qualify my car for their Engine Replacement class action lawsuit because the engine hasn't seized up yet, which will never happen since the update is preventing it. Even lemon law lawyers refuse to assist me because the car is too old. Since this is the only car I have, I am a nervous reck whenever I have to use it. If I press the accelerator pedal just a bit too much, the engine cuts out.Read more

I am submitting a vehicle safety complaint regarding a recurring HEV warning system indicator affecting my 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid that was not properly diagnosed despite multiple service visits to Nalley Hyundai beginning around July or August 2022. During several service visits while the vehicle remained covered under an extended warranty, I reported the HEV warning indicator to the dealersh
... ip. Each time the vehicle was returned to me, the warning light was no longer illuminated, giving the appearance that the issue had been resolved. I was not billed for these visits. However, I was informed that the dealership could not determine the cause of the warning indicator, and no permanent repair solution was completed. Because this issue involves the hybrid electric system, I am concerned this may represent a safety-related condition affecting vehicle reliability and drivability. The warning indicator has continued intermittently and has now progressed to the point that my vehicle is no longer dependable transportation. I respectfully request that this complaint be reviewed as a potential hybrid system warning indicator concern affecting the 2017 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.Read more

I am the original owner of a 2016 Kia Sedona, purchased new from the DeMontrond Kia dealership in Houston, Texas, in August 2016. The vehicle currently has 63,400 miles and has been maintained according to standard schedules. Two weeks ago, I noticed a slight knocking sound and took the car to the dealership for an inspection. I was informed that there is sludge buildup in the engine and was told
... the repair would not be covered under warranty due to alleged owner neglect. The dealership quoted $10,000 for an engine replacement. Prior to this, there were no warning lights or indicators of any issues, and there have been no oil leaks. I have retained most of the records and receipts for the oil changes performed on the vehicle.Read more
