2022 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7l Hemi coolant system issues. Every time I get out of my truck I smell coolant. Took it to Crain Dodge Ram & Jeep Benton, AR. The first time they pressure tested system and found no leaks. Told me it was normal! 1 week later, it's back and they could smell how bad it was.Still no leaks. I dropped it off and after 2 weeks, they haven't touched it. Finally after 3 weeks they
... send me a text saying that there is dirt in the coolant and needs to be flushed and will cost $400. Truck is still under the 60k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I told them that if there were no leaks, and my truck has never seen mud and rarely sees gravel, I did some research and found several TSB's on the coolant system being contaminated by engine oil and that there is also an issue with casting sand being left in the engine blocks after manufacturing process, and contaminats the coolant system and Jeep is having the same issue which is causing engine fires! I took screenshots of the TSB's I found online and sent them to the dealership. They refuse to address the issue and have not made any attempts to resolve the issue! I should not be held responsible for the engine manufacturer leaving casting sand in the block and is causing coolant issues in my truck! Why would a dealership, that I have bought 3 Ram trucks from, 2 suv's from, not even attempt to investigate the issues of coolant contamination that seems to be a recurring problem in these trucks! And how many other people have they scammed and made them pay for coolant flush and new coolant? And just how much damage has been done to the aluminum heads, thermostat, heater core, and radiator after coolant has circulated through the system like a sand blaster, eating away at all of the interior coolant parts and cylinder heads and gaskets! And what kind of permanent damage to the engine and water pump do I have to worry about in the future, that will most likely occur after the factory warranty has expired!Read more

I was driving my Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque this morning (2022, ~36k miles). About 10 minutes in, I was stopped at a light and the truck shut down completely (engine, electric, etc.) There was no prior notice, nor was it having problems. When I tried to go as the light turned green, obviously the truck did not go. I noticed several panel lights come on, including the battery light. There was also
... a message that said something to the extent that the emergency brake had automatically engaged and needed to be released. After a minute, I was able to re-start the car and drive home. Cars behind me honked, and eventually went around me. I have an appointment to take the truck in, but no diagnosis as of now. I did research and read that this a known problem with the 5.7L eTorque, and that some trucks have been recalled (NHTSA Recall 23V-235) for similar issues, and there is also on ongoing investigation for others that were not part of the recall. My experience is similar to everything I've seen/read reported by other drivers (e.g., seemingly random stall with no prior warning, certain dash lights coming on, auto-engagement of the parking break).Read more

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2011 Kia Optima (VIN: [XXX] ), which is currently experiencing significant engine issues and is undrivable. This issue is currently being reviewed under Kia Case #XXX. This vehicle is part of the Theta II engine group that has been the subject of recalls, service campaigns, and extended warranty coverage due to known engine defects, including rod bearing f
... ailure and potential engine seizure. The vehicle has also received the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) update associated with these known issues. My vehicle is currently at the dealership and has been there since March 10, 2026. It is not drivable, and I have been without transportation during this time. The dealership has diagnosed the issue as oil consumption; however, Kia has denied coverage, stating that oil consumption is not related to rod bearing failure. Kia has not confirmed whether a full internal engine inspection was performed to rule out rod bearing damage, nor have they confirmed that a Techline engineering review has been conducted. Given the known history of engine defects in this model, I am concerned that the current condition may be related to internal engine failure that has not been properly evaluated. Oil consumption can be a precursor or symptom of internal engine damage, and I do not believe the issue has been fully or adequately diagnosed. Additionally, my vehicle has an open safety recall related to potential engine compartment fire risk, which further raises concerns about the safety and reliability of this vehicle. I am requesting that this issue be reviewed as a potential safety-related defect, as the vehicle is undrivable and may be at risk for sudden engine failure or fire. I am also concerned that the manufacturer is relying solely on a dealership-level assessment without a thorough engineering evaluation of a known defect condition. Thank you for your review of this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Description of the Defect: My 2019 Ford Mustang EcoBoost experienced a premature engine failure caused by internal coolant intrusion, resulting in the need for complete engine replacement. This failure is not related to routine maintenance or a head gasket issue, but rather a known internal engine design defect that allows coolant to intrude into the cylinders over time. The vehicle exhibited symp
... toms including coolant loss without visible external leaks, rough operation, and engine malfunction. Upon inspection by a Ford dealership, the failure was diagnosed as coolant intrusion into the engine, with the only repair option being long‑block (engine) replacement. Ford has acknowledged this failure mode in Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 19‑2346, which documents coolant intrusion in EcoBoost engines and states that engine replacement—not head gasket repair—is the required corrective action. This bulletin confirms the issue is caused by an internal design flaw that develops over time. Why This Is a Safety Concern: This defect can lead to sudden engine misfires, loss of power, or complete engine failure while driving, which poses a serious safety risk to vehicle occupants and other road users. Engine failure at highway speeds or during normal driving conditions creates the potential for crashes, loss of vehicle control, or roadside breakdowns in unsafe conditions. The failure occurred at very low mileage (~36,000 miles), indicating a premature and abnormal engine defect, not normal wear and tear. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Yes, it is diagnostic and confirmed by AutoNation Ford Bellevue [XXX] Direct line: [XXX] No, prior warning and symptoms. First appeared on March 16, 2026. No recall exists despite Ford’s TSBs acknowledging the defect. Ford later redesigned the EcoBoost engine, showing awareness of the issue, yet owners are forced to pay for costly engine replacements after warranty expiration. My 2019 Hyundai Kona is equipped with a 2.0L Nu MPI engine covered under Recall 203 (NHTSA Campaign 21V301) for defective piston oil rings. The recall inspection was performed and closed at a Hyundai dealership in September 2023. The engine was passed and not replaced. Following that recall closure, the vehicle has required the same repair four times: replacement of the CVVT Assembly-Exhaust, Cams
... haft Assembly-Exhaust, and Timing Chain Tensioner. Each repair was performed under warranty. The recurring diagnostic code is P0017 (Crankshaft/Camshaft Position Correlation - Exhaust). Total warranty expenditure on these repeated repairs exceeds $7,800. During one of these visits (January 2025), the technician noted the CVVT had a "slight hold on rotation" and flagged possible exhaust camshaft damage. The vehicle has also experienced stalling while driving, creating a direct safety risk to the driver and others on the road. An independent repair facility has evaluated the vehicle and provided a written assessment concluding that full engine replacement is required, and that an underlying engine defect is causing the repeated component failures. It is my position that the Recall 203 inspection was performed inadequately — the defect was present at the time of inspection and was not identified. The recall remedy did not resolve the condition it was designed to address. Hyundai has since declined to replace the engine despite the documented failure pattern and independent shop recommendation. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by both a Hyundai dealer and an independent shop.Read more

The engine requires full replacement due to a cracked engine block, coolant intrusion into cylinder 2, heavy spark plug corrosion, and diagnostic code P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire). The defect was confirmed by an authorized Ford Dealership. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: This defect causes sudden loss of engine power without reliable warning, engine stalling in ac

The vehicle was inspected by a Ford-certified technician at an authorized dealership. The problem was confirmed and dealership issued a written diagnosis for requiring engine replacement. 100% of our services to this vehicle have been done by Ford dealerships, up to and including the appointment to diagnose the engine. Warning symptom appeared prior to failure: check engine light, an audible sloshing sound from the engine compartment. Symptoms first appeared in early December 2025, (approximately 2 weeks before the end of our warranty.) A service appointment was scheduled for the check engine light, but was cancelled because the light cleared itself. We learned in April 2026 that it was engine failure. Ford's own TSBs 19-2346 and 22-2229 document that symptoms of this defect occur with or without an illuminated MIL. Ford has not issued a recall despite NHTSA's own database showing 727 complaints on this vehicle, 128 pages of which relate to engine and engine cooling issues. I am reporting a safety-related failure involving my 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The vehicle has experienced two separate incidents where it suddenly lost power while driving and became inoperable without warning. The first occurrence happened while I was in the middle of an intersection. The vehicle lost power and could not continue moving, creating a dangerous situation with surrounding traffic. The s

In both cases, after the failure occurred, the vehicle would power on and could be shifted into drive or reverse; however, the vehicle would not move or provide any propulsion in either gear. The vehicle had to be manually pushed out of the roadway. The vehicle has been brought to the dealership multiple times over the course of ownership for issues involving the electrical and high-voltage systems. Service records show repeated diagnostic procedures, recall and campaign work, and repairs involving the battery system and related control functions. Diagnostic fault codes associated with this issue have included P0BEE00 and P0BE600 (drive motor current sensor circuit faults), along with communication-related faults. Despite these multiple service visits and repairs, the condition has not been reliably resolved, indicating an ongoing and intermittent system failure. Most recently, the dealer diagnosed a failure related to the drive motor system. The rear drive motor was replaced; however, after replacement, the vehicle still would not properly communicate with the motor. Also, the 75,000.00 price tag was really has me extremely upset... Monument Chevrolet treated me well. I had actually brought it in and called about the steering which was greatly affected by the severe front end wobble more than one time. I was told at first the oil consumption was pretty normal. Until I told them how much I had to add between changes. I have attached two work orders to this complaint. These work orders show what was done at 18017 miles and 18323 miles. The later work order was when the PICO test was done. Also, an oil consumption test was started once I picked the truck up. After I had driven it for 2077 miles and was bringing the vehicle back to Monument Chevrolet, as instructed for the oil consumption results, when a loud squeeling, then hard knock, power loss and I pulled over. I called Monument and was instructed if I could get it to start and bring it. I drove it to them while knocking and rough running. It has been in the shop for over 2 months for an engine replacement. 2077 miles after recall work! On June 17th, 2025 while driving from [XXX] back to my home state of [XXX] , I experienced an engine malfunction in Chester, Va where the 6.2 L87 engine was shaking and had severe hesitation. It was diagnosed by the Chevrolet dealership in Chester, VA as suffering severe failure of ALL 8 fuel injectors, fuel rails and connector harnesses, resulting in a 15 day repair wait and a $4,644.50 bill not
... including other expenses such as lodging/car rental. At this time my vehicle had 52,182 miles. After this I attempted for 3 months for GM to cover the repair as the vehicle was less than 5 years old and less than 60,000 miles under the 5 yr/60K warranty but denied it. On March 26th, 2026 while driving on the parkway at about 60 mph, my vehicle experienced loss of power (slow deceleration, shaking/hesitation) and I immediately took it to the repair shop where it was diagnosed as a P0308 code (misfire on cylinder 8) which caused a repair of the #8 spark plug, ignition coil and wire resulting in a $380. repair. Two days later, I experienced the same issue and then took it to an engine diagnostic specialty shop where I have been told that this issue will run about $4,000 due to valve and comprehension issues on an engine that has 60, 680 miles. I have seen numerous L87 engine complaints on Chevy Forums with no assurances that repairs or engine replacement will rectify the issue and feel that this is an issue that GM should be addressing for safety issues and an economic loss to its customers. I am hoping that your investigators can help the many people that have been left stranded by this incompetence and lack of admission of GM's part. Repair invoices available upon request.
