Hello, I am reaching out regarding a serious safety issue involving my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe under an active recall (78C), which Stellantis has acknowledged can cause an engine fire or sudden loss of vehicle function. Despite the severity of this recall, there is currently no remedy available. I have contacted Stellantis corporate multiple times and have been met with consistently poor cu
... stomer service, including being told I am not allowed to open another case because my issue is “irrelevant” due to it involving a recall. I am leasing a vehicle that is not safe to drive, with a known fire risk and no repair solution. I have formally requested that Stellantis buy back the vehicle without penalty given the safety risk and inability to use the vehicle as intended. They have refused to accept the vehicle back or offer any meaningful resolution. This raises serious concerns about consumer safety and corporate accountability—particularly when a manufacturer acknowledges a defect but refuses to take responsibility for removing unsafe vehicles from the road.Read more

My truck only has 72,000 miles on it, yet the lifters in the engine are failing/ malfunctioning. While in drive, it has a hard time shifting into higher gears causing the engine to continue revving but not picking up more speed. A quick google search shows this to be a common issue. GM was made aware of the problem but did not offer much help in resolving the matter. GM specifically stated the NHT

The engine light was on and had my vehicle was stalling while driving in traffic. The service code P1101 was on and had my vehicle fixed. The light stayed off for few months then same service code is back on. I've read that there was a recall for 2019 models with same issue. My vehicle is a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu LT and has same engine as the 2019 models.

When driving the whole car shakes and the engine makes a loud sound. It doesn't matter if I am going 10 mph or 75 mph the same shaking happens. The engine smells like burnt rubber. Driving feels like jerking not a smooth ride. I have already had the engine oil leak repaired. My car has been in the shop 3x in 2 months for this same problem. The dealership did a transmission systems update which did
... not help. When driving downhills the RMPS shoot up and get stuck between 3,000-4,000. The dealership could not find any documentation that downhill assist is a feature on this car. The dealership was not able to replicate these issues. I own a 2023 Cadillac XT5 with 30,859 miles on it.Read more

My brand new two week old 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS Issue: Auto Start/Stop system failure, the engine shuts off and does not restart Description:
While stopped at traffic lights with the auto start/stop feature engaged, the engine shuts off as designed. However, when I release the brake pedal, the engine does not restart as it should. Instead, the vehicle displays a message stating “pre
... ss brake to start,” and the vehicle behaves as if it has been completely turned off. This leaves the vehicle temporarily disabled in traffic and unable to move immediately when the light changes. I must press the brake and manually restart the vehicle, causing a delay and creating a safety concern, especially in intersections. This issue has occurred multiple times and appears to be related to a malfunction in the auto start/stop system. The failure to automatically restart the engine creates a risk of being stranded in active traffic and increases the likelihood of a collision. No warning lights or prior indications are given before the failure occurs. Concern:
This is a safety issue for me and my family because the vehicle does not respond as expected when attempting to accelerate from a stop and leaves me stuck in traffic unexpectedly. It is now in the shop for the second time, as I was able to record this continuous malfunction of my brand new 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer. I get anxiety everytime I drive it. I feel I’m going to be rear ending or be involved in some type of crash. The vehicle is currently not safe to drive currently at the dealership for a second time. I had it towed each time, as I feared for my life and safety. Dealership could not duplicate issue. They asked me to record it and I was able to.Read more

This issue has happened while driving in slow traffic on the interstate and is concerning when it occurs as I come to a complete stop without warning creating a possible rear end accident. It was first reported to my Chevy service dealer on 2/21.2025, The Chevy tech stated they could not duplicate the issue so no remedy has been offered. The issue continues to happen and I will be returning to my Chevy service center for another report of this continuing to happen.Read more

[XXX] I was local driving and my Ram truck got silent and engine died. I still had power steering. When I rolled to a stop the message said "press brake and put in park". The truck put itself in park before I pressed the brake pedal. It took 3 attempts to get my truck started. I drove to Walker dealer in Alexandria, La., and reported problem. Service advisor put a computer on the truck and it had
... a code. We made an appointment for 4-7-26 to get it resolved. I left my truck at the dealership at 8:30am and picked it up at 5pm. Advisor said they fixed a code and everything else checked out in OK status. That part was under warranty so no charge. The same thing happened last summer but I did not report it as I was able to start the truck and thought I had done something wrong. I am scared to make a trip anywhere and leave me stranded. I now make sure I have towing coverage. Because it is something that has to do with computers, I have to stay close to a dealership because their computer tools are proprietary. The truck gave no warning or indication of any kind. It just died. I keep all my paperwork from the dealership. I bought the truck with 2000 miles on it. The vehicle experienced a transmission failure at approximately 62,000 miles, which required a transmission replacement. Toyota replaced the transmission with a rebuilt transmission. Immediately after the repair, the vehicle began experiencing multiple issues that were not present prior to the repair. The vehicle initially would not reverse, and the battery was drained shortly after the repair wa
... s completed. Following the repair, the vehicle has continued to experience ongoing electrical malfunctions, including dashboard warning lights, system alerts, and dash lights flashing during remote start. The vehicle has also developed a rattling noise underneath the vehicle. The exact failed component has not been clearly identified. The dealership has provided changing diagnoses and has not provided written diagnostic documentation despite requests. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership multiple times; however, the issues have not been resolved. During a recent diagnostic, the dealership stated that the catalytic converter is now the issue, but this does not address the ongoing electrical problems. These issues raise safety concerns due to unpredictable vehicle behavior and potential failure of critical systems while driving. Warning lights and system errors began appearing after the transmission repair and have continued since that time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.Read more

Engine Failure. I was driving down the highway pulling a trailer and the RPMs raced up and I instantly lost power. Had to try and get over to the right lane/shoulder after losing all power. This has not been inspected by anyone besides the dealership it was towed to and the dealership I bought the truck from and use for service. My truck was in the shop many times prior to this. Had to have the cam shaft replaced before the recall fix was published to dealerships. Once fixed my wife picked it up with my child and once they left the dealership it started vigorously shaking again and she brought it back to be told it was a fault plug and plug wire. Once our VIN came up for recall it passed the test and they put new oil in and sent me on my way. A couple weeks later it was acting strange again and I brought it back for them to again say it was a faulty plug/wire. About two weeks after this is when the engine locked up. I am filing this safety complaint regarding a documented engine wire harness chafing defect in my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 2.7L L3B Turbo engine. While driving, my truck experienced erratic acceleration, engine throttling to 3,000 RPM without returning to idle after releasing the accelerator, engine misfires, sudden loss of engine power, stalling, and multiple simultaneous warning l
... ights. These conditions created immediate safety and collision risks on public roads. GM issued TSB 21-NA-149 in June 2021 and a second bulletin September 17, 2021, both before my November 2021 purchase, identifying wire harness chafing in the L3B engine caused by a manufacturing error. A wire harness clip was removed during production creating an uncontrolled harness branch that contacts sharp edges on the ECM/TCM bracket, upper control arm, and shock tower during normal engine vibration. This defect was built into the vehicle at the factory and was never disclosed to me at point of sale. The defect manifested after warranty expiration causing cascading failures; wire harness, catalytic converter, and transmission, all within five weeks. Vehicle has been inoperable since January 8, 2026. Defect confirmed by independent mechanic and by Ancira-Winton Chevrolet (authorized GM dealer) in their own repair documentation referencing GM Bulletin 21-NA-149. Dealer documented catalytic converter failure as consequential damage from wire harness repair. GM created Customer Satisfaction Program N192219370 for this exact defect. My VIN was excluded despite experiencing identical symptoms. No safety recall has been issued. Loss of throttle control and stalling at highway speeds represents an imminent collision risk. I request NHTSA investigate a formal safety recall for 2019-2023 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with the L3B engine.Read more

The vehicle is a 2022 Ford Mustang EcoBoost. While driving in traffic, the engine suddenly stalled and shut off without warning. This created an immediate safety risk as the vehicle lost power in the middle of active traffic flow, requiring me to quickly maneuver to avoid blocking traffic and potential collision. The issue appears consistent with a fuel delivery or fuel pressure failure, as the en
... gine restarted immediately after the stall. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had shown intermittent warning signs including check engine light activation and suspected misfire-related alerts. The problem has not yet been fully reproduced or confirmed by a dealer as a root cause, although the vehicle has been presented for service and was found to have no active recall tied to the VIN according to the dealership. No formal inspection or diagnosis confirming the exact failed component has been completed yet. No police, insurance representatives, or manufacturer inspectors have examined the vehicle at this time. Warning lamps (check engine light) and possible misfire-related symptoms were present prior to the failure. These symptoms appeared intermittently over the weeks leading up to the stall, particularly after periods of low fuel operation. Based on the symptoms and behavior, the incident closely matches known fuel system issues reported in similar Ford Mustang EcoBoost vehicles, including those associated with fuel pressure loss leading to engine stall while driving. The suspected system involved is the low-pressure fuel delivery system (fuel pump or related components), which is available for inspection upon request.Read more

I have been working with Subaru of America and Capital Subaru service in San Jose, CA for a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek XV 2.0 CVT automatic engine shortly after we bought it used for multiple faulty known engine problems with this specific make and model. This vehicle has been very dangerous for us to drive and has left us stranded not to mention paying the bank we financed payments to for a car we have been unable to use since purchasing. Subaru of America and Capital Subaru in San Jose have been awful, insensitive, and unhuman to our concerns and needs. We had to call them several times and were repeatedly ignore both parties for several days without any answers or any solutions. We have spent many sleepless nights worrying about not having a vehicle to get to work and my daughter who drove the car when she could in Nursing school with the burden of having no transportation and all the stress and worrying. There is a long history of defected engines because of the poor way these were built for our specific year, and we were told repeatedly that it was the lack of maintenance from the previous owner being the cause of the issues when that in fact is a lie as we have several maintenance records routinely. I will never buy or recommend these defected and lemon cars again especially when it involves the safety of your life! My 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe (approx. 153,000 miles) developed a new stalling and engine-dying-at-idle condition immediately following a knock sensor replacement performed by a Hyundai dealership. Prior to this repair, the vehicle ran normally with no stalling or idle issues. The vehicle was originally brought in for diagnosis related to code P1326, which is covered under Hyundai Service Campaign T6G
... (engine rod bearing / knock sensor campaign). The dealership replaced the knock sensor but subsequently claimed my vehicle's P1326 condition did not qualify under Campaign T6G. Immediately after the knock sensor replacement, the vehicle began stalling and completely shutting off at idle — a condition that did not exist before the dealer's service. I returned the vehicle to the dealership to address this new issue. The vehicle has now been at the dealership for over three (3) weeks with no diagnosis update, no repair timeline, and no communication from the service department. I am filing this complaint for two reasons: 1. Safety concern: An engine that stalls and dies at idle presents a serious risk of loss of vehicle control, particularly in traffic or at intersections. 2. Service Campaign T6G: I believe the underlying condition and the dealer-caused stalling issue are both connected to the knock sensor system covered by this campaign. I request that NHTSA review whether this vehicle qualifies under Campaign T6G and whether dealer-caused damage following campaign-related service should be addressed under the campaign or a related recall. The dealership's failure to communicate for 3+ weeks and their claim that my vehicle is not covered under Campaign T6G warrants regulatory review.Read more

2021 BMW X3 M40i – Starter Motor Failure Matches NHTSA 26V056000 Defect (No-Start at Stop Light + Excessive Starter Torque Fault + Fire Risk) I am filing this safety complaint regarding a sudden starter motor failure on my 2021 BMW X3 M40i. On March 31, 2026, the vehicle stalled at a stop light and displayed the message “car can be restarted in XX seconds.” After the timed period elapsed an
... d a few restart attempts, the vehicle would not start and had to be towed to Sewell BMW Mini of Plano, Texas. The service department at the dealership diagnosed a faulty starter motor. The technician’s notes explicitly state: “checked faults for excessive torque and found starter motor faulty” and the vehicle inspection video shows the starter unraveling. They quoted $2,060.50 to replace it under reliability concerns. This failure mode - sudden no-start at idle/stop with the timed restart lockout and “excessive torque” fault - is identical to the defect in NHTSA Campaign 26V056000 announced January 2026, affecting 2021–2024 X3 models. That recall describes internal starter wear causing no-start conditions and potential overheating/fire risk. BMW has already acknowledged and is replacing the starter for free on thousands of nearly identical G01 X3s. The service manager at Sewell BMW of Plano also confirmed that prior B58-engine X3 M40i models, same engine family as mine, have had starter recalls for the same issue. Despite this clear precedent, BMW North America denied our goodwill request for coverage due to it being out of warranty and that we’re not the original owners of the vehicle. We believe this is a safety defect that BMW should remedy at no cost, consistent with federal standards and their handling of the identical issue on other X3 models. Please investigate and require BMW to provide free remedy or full reimbursement. This poses a real safety risk due to a sudden stall while driving and potential fire as demonstrated in other recalled BMW X3s within the same year.Read more

Since taking delivery of this vehicle in June 2024 from Kenny Ross Mazda, I have experienced a persistent and unresolved error message on the vehicle’s display screen relating to “Multiple ECUs Reprogramming.” This error message first appeared within the first twelve (12) months of ownership and has remained continuously present on the vehicle’s instrument cluster/infotainment screen despi
... te numerous repair attempts. The defect substantially impairs the use, value, and safety of the vehicle, as it creates constant uncertainty about the operational status of critical electronic control systems, diminishes the vehicle’s resale value, and interferes with my normal use and enjoyment of the vehicle. Photographic evidence of this error message is attached as Enclosures 2 through 5. I have brought the vehicle to Rohrich Mazda, an authorized Mazda dealership and service facility located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on at least seven (7) separate occasions over the past twelve (12) or more months in an effort to resolve this defect. Each time, the dealership has been unable to eliminate the error message. During the course of these repair attempts, the dealership initially believed the issue was related to a recall (Safety Recall 7024J — Multiple ECU’s Programming), but subsequent repair attempts have failed to resolve the condition. The dealership has contacted Mazda Corporate technical support on multiple occasions, and Mazda Corporate has been unable to provide a solution. As of this writing, the dealership and Mazda Corporate have acknowledged that they do not currently have a fix for this problem. The service ticket remains open.Read more
