For a year I have had my car to the shop multiple times due to a musty smell inside my car. I have never been able to find any fluids or moisture inside the car, however, the inside of my windshield tends to get a weird film on it, I am constantly cleaning to keep visibility especially at night. None of the mechanics that I have taken it to were able to figure it out, and most of them could not sm
... ell The musky smell that I smelled. The car had approximately 40,000 mi on it when this started about a year ago, Maybe 8 months. Recently I have noticed that the coolant in my car is disappearing, I have kept a constant check on it and about once a week have had to add fluids to keep it from getting too low. I have had the coolant system checked out. I've had it flushed. They pressure tested the coolant tank and all tests passed and they could find no issues. However, when my father came to town he checked it out and there is coolant fluid leaking inside my car under the dash and it is dripping slowly on to the underpad of the carpeting and I assume drying up before it gets to a point where it is making a wet spot in the floor. Obviously after more research my father has told me that this has been a known issue with this model of car, however, there is not a recall that I can find with my VIN number. Obviously being stuck in a hot car in Florida, breathing in the fumes from a poisonous liquid is not healthy for me or anyone in my car. This is a safety issue not only for the fumes that I have been breathing, but foggy residue that collects on my windshield creates visual issues especially at night. This could cause me to have a major accident and possibly lose my life. I should not be struggling with a car that I treat like my baby. I have read that this is a design flaw due to the plastic connectors on the hoses, I would like Chevy to stand behind their vehicle and fix this issue for me. I never use the heater, because I live in Florida!Read more

Kia has 110,000 miles on it. We’ve regularly changed the oil at 3-5k mile intervals. A week ago, I heard loud knocking from the front of the car, along with loss of power. I contacted Kia Customer Care, and they said it’s out of warranty and they won’t help. I replied back with an appeal to escalate to a higher / regional level for help. The oil had been changed at 105,000 miles. No oil leak present. Routine oil changes performed. This engine should never have had this issue at 110,000 miles. ... the engine running out of oil, the vehicle provided zero warning lights or signals. No "Low Oil Pressure" light or "Check Engine" light ever appeared. This "silent failure" left me stranded in a high-risk traffic situation with a child who has special needs, as I had no warning to pull over safely. • April 8, 2026: The Kia dealership confirmed the engine is seized. Improper Handling of the Claim: The dealership is currently refusing to honor Warranty Extension WTY026 (15-year/150,000-mile Oil Pressure Switch). Their refusal is based on an outdated service sticker in the window that is over 9,000 miles old, while they are ignoring my verified paper receipt from February 11, which proves the vehicle was serviced less than two months ago. The dealership is requesting a full breakdown (teardown) of the engine at my expense to determine the cause. It is my position that requiring a consumer to pay for a mechanical breakdown is an unreasonable barrier to a warranty claim—especially when they have not yet performed non-invasive diagnostic tests, such as a videoscope/borescope inspection, to check for the known oil pressure switch leak covered under WTY026. Significant Safety Concern: The failure of the Oil Pressure Switch (WTY026) to trigger a dashboard warning is a critical safety defect. This failure led directly to a seized engine while I was transporting children. I am requesting that the Department of Transportation investigate this safety-system failure and that Kia Corporate override the dealership’s request for a consumer-funded teardown, given that I have provided proof of maintenancRead more

My 2018 Kia Sorento has developed excessive oil consumption consistent with the known engine defects affecting Kia’s Theta II engines. Kia dealerships have acknowledged the symptoms but stated that because my vehicle is outside the warranty, I must pay for the oil consumption test and would be responsible for the full cost of an engine replacement. This is a supplemental report to my previous filing regarding a 2023 VW ID.4 battery fire. On May 28, 2025, while being operated, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic thermal event. White smoke emanated from the front compartment followed by active flames. The vehicle was a total loss. Critical Safety Finding: A subsequent forensic examination conducted on October 29, 2025 (File 27739-01) by a cer
... tified fire investigator confirmed that after the initial fire was suppressed, the vehicle reportedly caught fire an additional time while being held at a tow/storage facility. Component Failure: The fire originated in the front compartment area. The failure is consistent with the "thermal runaway" risks identified in Recall 26V030, involving defective battery cell electrodes. Safety Risk: The multiple ignition nature of this failure poses a lethal risk to occupants, emergency responders, and tow/salvage facility operators. The fact that the vehicle reignited twice in storage, long after the initial suppression, suggests that current safety protocols or the scope of the existing recall may not fully address the volatility of this specific battery defect. Inspection Status: The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer’s engineers and an independent forensic investigator. However, the manufacturer and the insurer are currently withholding the Photographic Report and Technical Field Report from the consumer. These records are vital to understanding the severity of the "multiple -ignition" event and should be subpoenaed or requested by NHTSA investigators to ensure the recall remedy is sufficient to prevent secondary fires in storage environments.Read more

Incident Description: I purchased a 2016 Hyundai Veloster (VIN: KMHTC6ADXGU255844) in May 2025. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began exhibiting serious mechanical issues, including engine knocking, excessive oil consumption, stalling, misfiring, and loss of power. Despite these ongoing issues, the vehicle is listed as having Recall 198 completed. However, the symptoms associated with that rec
... all continued and progressively worsened. The vehicle ultimately stalled in traffic while I was making a turn, resulting in an accident. In a separate incident, after exiting the vehicle and believing it to be in PARK, the vehicle moved unexpectedly and ran over me, causing serious physical injuries including fractures. Prior to these incidents, the vehicle had ongoing mechanical issues that were not properly resolved. The vehicle also required repeated jump-starts and became unreliable to operate. Additionally, there are discrepancies in the service records. The vehicle was towed to a dealership on or about June 8, 2025 and remained there until approximately July 15, 2025. However, the documentation provided reflects only a limited number of service days and consolidates multiple visits into a single summary. Due to these inconsistencies and the continued presence of failure symptoms, I am unable to verify that recall-related repairs were properly performed. These incidents raise serious concerns about engine failure and possible unintended vehicle movement, both of which present significant safety risks.Read more

Safety Hazard: Oil Pump Failure Leading to Sudden Engine Stall (BMW B58TU engines) Description of Defect: The oil pump module in the 2020 BMW M340i (G20) contains internal plastic components that are prone to thermal degradation and premature failure. These plastic parts can crack or disintegrate, causing a sudden loss of oil pressure. Increasing wear on internal engine components and even leadin
... g to irreversible engine damage. Safety Risk: A failure of the oil pump leads to insufficient lubrication of critical engine components, which can result in a sudden and complete engine seizure while the vehicle is in motion. This causes an immediate loss of propulsion and power steering assist, significantly increasing the risk of a high-speed collision or being stranded in dangerous traffic conditions. Additional Note: This is a known mechanical defect where a critical engine component (oil pump) relies on non-durable plastic materials, creating an unreasonable safety risk for drivers and passengers due to potential catastrophic engine failure without prior warning. BMW is aware of this defect as they chose to update the design in future models, switching from the brittle plastic to more metal components in the updated design. This shows clearly that this design is compromised and was a risk to continue implementing.Read more

... code or had found any history of the error code coming up without proving to me or showing me any substantial evidence that they tested for anything at the Escondido Hyundai dealership in California. I escalated the issue with Hyundai corporate and was assigned a case manager that ultimately gave me the same answer that they could not replicate any codes and that I should take the car back and drive normally. After extensive research I found that the orange check ev light is a more dangerous sign than the red check ev light because it indicates that the ICCU unit is about to fail. Research shows that due to thermal stress the ICCU will inevitably fail after the orange check AV light comes on. Further research shows that Hyundai had officially stated a 1% failure rate for the ICCU unit in all of their EVs built on the e-gmp cars to date but some projections are at 10% failure rate or higher and that Hyundai Kia is downplaying the issue similarly to how they tried to do the same with the Theta 2 GDI engines that they had been sued and were responsible to pay over $300 or so million dollars as well as $24 million to a employee whistleblower a few years ago. I highly suggest that the nhtsa or other organizations that have the power to force Hyundai Kia to do the right thing so that no further lives are at risk from these ICCU units that have flawed designs that have not been fixed, only remedied via software update or replaced with refurbished units at the most with inevitable failure as thermal stress is experienced.Read more

ENGINE LOCK UP WITH 5018 MILES ON, IT IS A THE 6.2 MOTOR ROD AND CRANK BAD
Incident date: Oct 1, 2024
I had left work and pulled out of the parking lot to head towards the freeway. I had driven about 3 blocks and the truck made an indicator alert noise. My dash panel said reduced power mode or something to that effect. The truck felt as if it lost power. Luckily I was able to pull to the side of the road at which point I put it into park and shut it off. I waited a moment and then tried to restart
... it. The dash panel said something but it was too fast for me to read before it went away. The engine was cranking but it did not restart. I tried several more times before calling roadside assistance to have it towed to a nearby dealership. The dealership said that I would need to replace the engine $18,751.92. They said the Camshaft RPM are 0 while the crankshaft RPM is 2-300. Lifters and Rockers are not moving. The chain is most likely broke as well. The fuel pressure is about 30 psi in the high side. It would be just as expensive if not more to try and repair the existing engine if it is even repairable which they wouldn't know until they took it apart at which point I would have to pay for that as well even if it was not salvageable. They would need to replace the oil lines and cooler as well because debris from the engine could be in them and would do more damage if not replaced. I had already replaced the oil lines and cooler within the last 6 months. The truck has 114,000 miles. My warranty still had 3 months on it but the mileage stopped at 100,000 so I am out of luck. When I researched online to see what it could be I saw there are known problems with this 6.2 L87 engine and that many fail around 100,000 miles. There are other recalls but the 2019 was not included in the recall. If I choose to have the work done it will take several weeks in which I will now have to rent a car as well. Not much of a choice when I still owe $30,000 and they only offered me $9,000 for it as is with the bad engine.Read more

Good day, I am writing to formally raise and escalate a serious concern regarding the vehicle I recently purchased Autosource company. I purchased a car through auto source company that assists international professionals in leasing or purchasing vehicles in the United States. However, upon independently checking the vehicle’s VIN, it has come to my attention that the car has an unresolved saf
... ety recall involving the electric throttle body. This issue was not disclosed to us at any point during the purchasing process, which is very concerning. As this vehicle is intended for daily family use, including transporting my children, safety is our top priority. The presence of an unresolved recall raises significant concerns about the vehicle’s reliability and overall safety. Additionally, I have made multiple attempts to contact the assigned agent regarding this matter, but unfortunately, I have not received any response to my messages or emails. This lack of communication is deeply disappointing. Given that the vehicle is scheduled for delivery on [XXX] I respectfully request the following: Immediate clarification regarding the recall status Confirmation that all necessary repairs will be fully completed prior to delivery. Official documentation proving that the recall has been resolved. Assistance from a supervisor or appropriate representative to handle this escalation. Please treat this matter with urgency. I would appreciate a prompt response to ensure that this issue is resolved before the scheduled delivery date. Thank you for your attention to this matter. After driving IN RAIN for about 27 Miles then idling in slow traffic, vehicle started running poorly, stalled and would not run properly. Got "Reduced Engine Power, Visit Your Dealer Message". Engine would start but stall when put in drive. I held up traffic for several minutes. After several minutes of restarting and stalling, I ran engine in park for 2000-3000 rpm for about a minute. The car
... then ran fine and I drove for over a week before I could get it to the dealer. It seemed to be run fine during this time. Dealer found code P010014, MAF sensor and replaced the sensor. Toyota TSB T-TT-0763-24 appears to describe this issue but it does not appear to have a real resolution for this. It is 'under investigation' Just replacing the sensor, if it is just another one of the same type does not give me confidence that this dangerous condition may not happen again.
