My vehicle is subject to open safety Recall 67C involving the cooling fan module and related fuse protection in the engine compartment. The recall has been open since October 2025. The manufacturer and dealer have confirmed that the remedy/parts are still not available and that there is no ETA for repair. At this time, I have not experienced an obvious operating failure with the vehicle itself.
... However, the open safety recall remains unresolved, and because no remedy exists yet, the recall cannot be completed. This is my sole work vehicle, and the unresolved recall is preventing lawful completion of the import/registration process in Canada and preventing me from using the vehicle for work. The problem has been confirmed by the manufacturer and an authorized dealer as an open recall with no available remedy at this time. I am reporting that the manufacturer has failed to provide a timely remedy for this safety recall.Read more

I am reporting a potential safety defect with my 2018 Honda CR-V EX-L. While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly overheated without warning. The temperature gauge rapidly rose to “high,” and warning messages appeared indicating an engine overheating/cooling system issue. I was forced to pull over immediately to avoid engine failure and a potential accident. The vehicle was u
... nsafe to continue driving and had to be inspected by a mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a blown head gasket, and coolant had leaked into the engine. I was informed that the engine may need to be replaced due to the severity of the damage. This issue occurred without prior warning and created a serious safety hazard because the vehicle could have stalled or seized while in motion, potentially causing an accident or leaving me stranded in traffic. The vehicle has been properly maintained and was being driven normally at the time of the incident. I am concerned this may be a manufacturing defect involving the engine, head gasket, or cooling system. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be investigated for potential safety risks to other drivers.Read more

About mid-2025, Honda announced a warranty extension campaign (not a formal NHTSA recall) for: * 2013–2017 Honda Odyssey (and some Pilots) * Related to VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) What the problem was: * Piston rings wear prematurely * Oil gets past the rings → fouls spark plugs * Leads to: * Misfires (P0301–P0304) * Oil consumption * Rough running Mechanism: * Cylind

I submitted a claim with receipts and the work was done at a dealership. Honda said I had all the appropriate paperwork and would get back to me in 6-9 weeks. That was 7 months agoRead more

I am reporting a safety concern related to NHTSA Recall 19V120 involving my Kia Soul. The recall identifies a defect related to catalytic converter overheating, which can lead to engine damage, stalling, and increased risk of fire. My vehicle is currently experiencing an illuminated check engine light and unsafe driving conditions. During service evaluation at Kia of Columbus, I was informed that
... my vehicle has a catalytic converter blockage contributing to these issues. However, I was also told that my vehicle does not qualify for recall repair because no engine code was detected during diagnostics. This is concerning, as the vehicle is actively exhibiting symptoms consistent with the recall condition, including a confirmed catalytic converter issue and an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp. Despite this, I was denied full recall coverage and instead offered a goodwill repair requiring me to pay 50% of the cost. I believe this situation represents a failure to properly apply recall criteria and raises concerns regarding customer safety, as the vehicle may be at risk for engine failure or fire. I am requesting further review of this matter and investigation into the handling of this recall by the servicing dealership.Read more

My 2019 Ford EcoSport 1.0L EcoBoost engine began making loud noise consistent with oil pressure failure. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership. The dealership performed a teardown and confirmed the oil pump belt tensioner had failed — the exact defect described in Safety Recall 23S64. The dealer replaced the oil pump belt, tensioner, and oil pump under Recall 23S64. However, the
... dealer then stated that the resulting engine damage — severe scoring of connecting rod bearings and crankshaft journals caused by oil starvation — is “not related to the recall” and refused to replace the engine under Recall 23S64. Ford’s own recall documentation states: if engine failure is related to a broken oil pump belt or tensioner, a long block engine replacement is authorized as an interim repair at no charge. The updated Service Action also states the oil pump belt and tensioner no longer need to be replaced before long block installation. The causal chain is direct: tensioner failed (recall defect) → oil pressure lost → engine destroyed. The dealer’s refusal to replace the engine appears to violate Ford’s own Recall 23S64 service procedure. The vehicle has been inoperable for weeks. I continue making monthly loan and insurance payments on a vehicle I cannot drive. My extended warranty claim was also denied because the warranty company requires written confirmation from Ford that the engine damage is not recall-related — a document the dealer says they cannot provide. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate whether Ford dealers are systematically denying recall-related engine replacements under 23S64 that they are obligated to perform per Ford’s own recall service procedures. Additionally, prior to the complete engine failure, the vehicle stalled unexpectedly while stopped at a red light in active traffic without any warning. The engine shut off suddenly, consistent with sudden loss of oil pressure caused by the recall defect. This created a dangerous safety situationRead more

I own a 2021 Kia Seltos with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine (146 hp) and approximately 38,967 miles at the time of failure. On April 21, 2026, the vehicle began rattling during acceleration and stalling at stops with no warning lights of any kind. On April 22, 2026, my partner and I were driving on the highway when the rattling intensified and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate properly, requir

He safely exited the highway and shortly after turning off the main road the vehicle stalled completely on a residential street and could not be restarted. My partner opened the hood, at which point white smoke was visible and there was a strong burning smell. The vehicle was towed from that location to an authorized Kia dealership. Upon arrival, the service manager noted a burning smell from the starter motor. The engine produced no cranking sound when the key was turned. On April 24, 2026, the dealership confirmed the engine is seized and submitted the case to Kia corporate. The vehicle was properly maintained with oil changes every 3,500–4,500 miles. A full inspection just 3,587 miles prior identified no engine issues. No warning lights appeared at any point before or during the failure. This failure matches the defect described in NHTSA Campaigns 21V259 and 25V099, both citing improperly heat-treated piston oil rings in 2021 Kia Seltos vehicles equipped with the 2.0L engine causing cylinder wall damage, seizure, and risk of fire. My VIN returned 0 unrepaired recalls on April 22, 2026, placing it outside both recall populations. However, my vehicle has the identical engine, model year, and failure mode. I request NHTSA investigate whether both recall populations adequately captured all affected vehicles, including those manufactured outside the stated production date ranges.Read more

For the last two years, our CR-V has had random engine failures where the car will lose power and the ability to accelerate. If you're going uphill it will stop entirely, otherwise you can usually limp along at about 20mph. We've taken the car in to the Honda dealer multiple times with no fix. We've had to abandon the car since Honda won't fix it and it's a complete safety hazard. The final incide
... nt happened while I was driving in a tunnel in a 60mph zone. The car died and I had nowhere to pull off so I was forced to slowly crawl through the tunnel as cars flew by me going 70mph. I was finally able to get out of the tunnel and pull over in a remotely safe place. Once you turn the car off, the system resets and you can drive again until the issue happens again. Honda diagnosed the issue, reproduced and confirmed the issue and, despite having an 8-year full warranty we bought when we bought the car new, they refused to fix it stating that they simply aren't able to. Their recommendation was to take the car and monitor the issue, despite confirming the extreme danger the car poses to us. We've asked them to replace the car with anything of similar value that won't be a safety threat, or buy the car back since we can't drive it. It's been sitting at the dealership for the last month and a half. We've now been forced to hire an attorney to help resolve this since Honda is refusing to take accountability for selling a completely unsafe vehicle.Read more

It was initially diagnosed by a mobile mechanic and then taken to a independent service mechanic who confirmed the initial diagnosis. It was then confirmed again by a third party independent mechanic. The engine light did not appear until the noise started and what I now know as when the lifters failed, at which after my vehicle alerted me with the engine light. When the problem first occurred, I was driving around 35 MPH down a public road, I had to immediately slow down and pull over. I then limped the vehicle to a safe destination where the mobile mechanic was able to check it out. Luckily, I was not going high speeds and the public road I was driving on was not busy so I was able to pull over safely upon the issue the start of the warning lamp flashing. The engine component failure would have been a much higher safety risk for myself and others if I was driving on a busy road or highway. The dealership informed me that unless I paid a 264.40 fee for maintenance and fluids, they were required by the manufacturer to drain the old, contaminated coolant from my failed engine and reuse

This threat of intentional contamination poses a severe safety risk, as reusing old fluid from a failed engine can lead to premature engine failure or overheating, potentially creating another hazardous situation on the road. I contacted the manufacturer corporate office (Case [XXX]), and they confirmed that no such requirement to reuse old coolant exists and that the dealership had not even attempted to file a claim for fluids. I was just recently traveling in Florida ( reside in NY) and the exact same problems occurred with my vehicle which I can only assume was due to the warmer temperatures that my vehicle has not been exposed to since the last repair as I reside in New York. I feel it should be worth mentioning that when turning OFF the auto start/stop button, the problems occurred less frequently but STILL happened on occasion. I've also had 3 other times when the "check engine" light came on. I was told that the first 2 were related to software updates with the transmission. On the other occasion, a "valve body" was replaced. I'm unsure if any of these were related. I've also had to replace the auxiliary battery but I don't think that's related so I didn't upload that file. Although I'm taking the vehicle to be repaired today, I took it in on 04/14/26 because the check engine light came on while in Florida when the car shifted itself into Park and the Emergency Brake was activated. To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this formal complaint regarding a malfunction in the air conditioning system of my 2024 Chevrolet Trax. Specifically, the evaporator and/or condenser has failed, resulting in inadequate cooling performance and potential system leakage. This issue is more than a matter of comfort—it presents a significant safety concern. Operating the vehicle in high temper
... atures, particularly in Texas, creates hazardous conditions inside the cabin. Excessive heat can lead to driver fatigue, dehydration, and reduced concentration. Additionally, the malfunctioning A/C system affects humidity control, which may cause windshield fogging and reduced visibility while driving. The problem has been consistently reproducible during normal vehicle operation. Symptoms include poor cooling performance, inconsistent air temperature, and possible unusual odors or sounds when the A/C system is in use. Notably, no warning lights or dashboard messages appeared prior to the failure, making it difficult to detect the issue early. At this time, the vehicle is available for inspection and can be evaluated by a dealership, certified technician, or manufacturer representative upon request. I request a thorough inspection to confirm the failure and determine whether this is due to a manufacturing or design defect. If necessary, I am also willing to have the vehicle reviewed by independent service professionals or relevant authorities. Given that this issue has occurred in a nearly new vehicle, it raises concerns about reliability, quality control, and potential widespread defects affecting other vehicles of the same model. I urge prompt investigation and corrective action to ensure driver safety and product integrity. Please advise on the next steps for inspection, repair, and resolution of this matter.
