My 2018 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ), equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine, suffered a catastrophic engine failure due to internal coolant intrusion into the cylinders — a known defect covered under Ford Technical Service Bulletin TSB 22-2229. Approximately four months before the failure, I brought the vehicle to Red McCombs Ford in San Antonio after the check engine light illuminated. Despite this w
... arning, the authorized Ford dealer failed to diagnose the issue or recommend any repair, and advised me it was safe to continue driving. Shortly thereafter, while driving on a busy highway with my grandchildren in the vehicle, the engine suddenly lost all power with no additional warning. We were forced to coast to the shoulder, placing us and other motorists at serious risk of collision. The vehicle was towed immediately to McCombs Ford West (7111 Northwest Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78238), another authorized Ford dealer in the same Red McCombs Automotive Group, where technicians confirmed the engine requires full replacement at an estimated cost of $7,415.89. A warranty claim was submitted but denied on the basis that I allegedly drove too long after the problem began — a determination I dispute, as the vehicle was towed immediately upon failure without further operation. The failed engine remains at the dealership, has not been repaired, and is available for inspection upon request. My 2024 Mazda CX-90 MHEV has experienced multiple life-threatening sudden engine stalls and a complete loss of motive power while driving in active traffic lanes. The first incident occurred on December 31, 2024, when the vehicle abruptly shut down with an "Engine Malfunction" dashboard alert. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Mazda dealership (Palatine, IL), where it was held for a week, bu
... t technicians stated they could not replicate the issue and returned the car to me as safe. On March 30, 2026, the exact same failure recurred. While driving, the engine suddenly shut off completely at a traffic intersection. After turning the vehicle off for 5 minutes, it was restarted and driven to another authorized Mazda dealership (Crystal Lake, IL) for specialized diagnostic scanning. The second dealership successfully retrieved stored diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P061B, which is directly linked to safety recall 24V-815 (Loss of Drive Power from Software Errors). Crucially, the detailed diagnostic scan revealed that this code was historically stored with a timestamp dating back to December 2024. This proves that the safety defect was active and detectable during the first dealer visit 16 months prior, but was completely missed by the first dealership, leaving my family with an ongoing crash hazard. To address the failure, the dealership replaced the low-pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank and a mass airflow (MAF) sensor. However, Mazda Corporate customer experience has formally stated to me in writing that they are "not in a position to guarantee the concern will not reoccur." Because this safety-critical propulsion failure causes the vehicle to suddenly die in traffic and has a documented history of ineffective recall remediation, it poses an unresolved, severe crash risk. The vehicle is currently in my possession and available for inspection.Read more

Traveling Northbound in the left lane on [XXX] approximately 1 mile prior to the [XXX] exit. I increased my speed to move to the right lane and exit. After moving the the right lane and signaling to exit the highway a notification appeared on the gauge cluster stating to shift to neutral and restart the engine. After coming to a complete stop at the stop light I attempted to restart and nothing
... happened. I contacted OnStar for roadside assistance to get my truck and trailer towed and was informed they do not cover towing of the trailer. I accepted the tow of the truck and contacted the towing company who charged me $300 to tow my trailer 15 miles home. This happened late morning on Saturday and by Monday evening I was informed my engine seized and GM will be covering a replacement under warranty. My truck is less than two years old with 23K miles. The 6.2L engine was inspected a couple months earlier for the engine recall and was deemed ok. Clearly the inspection process is not very robust. I was told I could be without my truck for 1wk, 2wks, a month, but they are not sure since I’m 4th in line for a new engine and the truck first in line has already been there a month. I was also told GM is showing inventory in Michigan but the engines are not shipping. I’m currently waiting on a loaner vehicle but was told I cannot tow with the loaner vehicle which throws a wrench in my plans. * This complaint concerns a catastrophic failure of the transmission in my vehicle. This defect was first reported to a Ford dealer while still within the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty (Jan 3, 2023, at 58,679 miles; Invoice #XXX). * The condition worsened. Between July 2024 - Jan. 2026, I received 7 digital "Service Engine Soon" warnings via the Ford App. My dealer advised that the vehicl
... e was "OK to drive" as long as the light (which never stayed on) was not flashing. I was told diagnostics could not be made unless the light was active at the dealership. Jan 16, 2026, the light came on; I was able to take the truck to the dealer. A fault code was finally captured, but the dealer reported a two-month service backlog. I could not wait that long. *Feb 2026, I established a clean engine baseline. I spent $833.15 to replace O2 sensors (EJ’s Automotive) to rule out engine−related performance issues. During this service (at 103,431 miles), an inspection confirmed metallic clutch material contamination in the transmission fluid only 10,248 miles after a 2nd professional flush. This failure occurred despite a total maintenance investment of $11,533.80 across 21 service visits. * This failure resulted in a dangerous Loss of Motive Power, creating a collision risk. The vehicle is currently grounded and completely inoperable. The dealership verbally designated the vehicle as VOR due to the confirmed diagnosis, only to contradict that status by claiming it was "driveable" after I declined a $15,000 quote for a teardown to diagnose the issue. * Since the truck can no longer tow, 2 third-party transports for a horse and a trailer relocation are necessary. The failure has also resulted in a total parasitic battery drain. The tailgate latch and door locks are inoperable, suggesting the transmission fault is interfering with module communication. This is consistent with the root cause Ford has acknowledged in TSBs 24-2101 and 25-2126 involving the CDF clutch drum sleeve. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OFRead more

On or about 12/14/25 at approximately 2,000 miles my engine began smoking to the point that it was pushing in to the interior of the cabin and created a cloud like atmosphere that smelled of burning oil. There were no warning messages in the vehicle or in the mobile diagnostic application associated with the vehicle. Once parked, I popped the engine and observed visible smoke from the engine and a
... distinct crackling noise coming from the area of the engine. I checked underneath the vehicle and was able to see oil dripping and, subsequently, feel oil running down a majority of the undercarriage of the truck. Ultimately, I had the vehicle towed the dealership and they diagnosed a front cover seal for the engine was leaking and repaired the issue. On 3/20/26 I had to take my vehicle in for an early oil change due to the above issue and low oil life. Since the above repair, I had continued to smell intermittent burning oil in the cabin of the truck. During the oil change I asked the GM service provider to check to ensure the same issue had not recurred and, following the oil change, I was informed they did not see any issue. On 5/8/26, at approximately 7,000 miles, the same issue regarding visible smoke in the cabin occurred and, upon opening the hood, I was able to see visible smoke from the engine and hear the same crackling noise. I checked underneath the vehicle and, again, was able to see oil dripping and feel it on a majority of the underside of the truck. There were no warnings, in the vehicle or in the GM app for the vehicle, associated with the failure. Again, I took the vehicle to the GM dealer service center. The diagnosis was a leaking rear cover seal. Upon repairing this issue, GM service discovered "flakes" in the oil in the engine and diagnoses a failing thrust bearing that indicated engine failure. I have documentation of the diagnosis and attempted repairs but, am not currently in a location that I can scan and upload them. I can provide them.Read more

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding serious engine issues I have experienced with my Alfa Romeo vehicle. The ongoing mechanical problems have created significant inconvenience, financial hardship, and concerns regarding the safety and reliability of the vehicle. Since owning the vehicle, I have experienced persistent engine-related problems including [loss of power/engine stalling
... /check engine light/oil consumption/rough idling/etc.]. Despite attempts to address the issue through repairs and maintenance, the problem continues to occur. These recurring issues have negatively impacted my ability to reliably use the vehicle for daily transportation. In addition, I am concerned that these issues may reflect a manufacturing defect or unresolved mechanical problem that has not been properly corrected. I have made efforts to have the vehicle inspected and repaired, yet the condition persists, resulting in continued frustration and unexpected expenses. I respectfully request the following: * reimbursement for repair costs related to the engine issue * Documentation regarding any recalls, technical service bulletins, or known engine defects associated with this model * Assistance in resolving this matter promptly and fairly I would appreciate a written response outlining the next steps to resolve this complaint. I hope to settle this issue professionally without needing to escalate the matter further through consumer protection agencies, warranty enforcement, or legal channels. My 2016 Hyundai Sonata is experiencing severe oil consumption due to a known Hyundai engine defect. The engine burns oil rapidly and loses more than a quart between oil changes. This creates a safety hazard because the engine can stall, seize, or fail while driving. The Hyundai dealership did NOT perform the official Hyundai oil-consumption test. They only checked the dipstick, noted the oil was
... low, and submitted a request for a paid combustion cleaning. Hyundai declined to pay for the cleaning, and the dealership is refusing to perform the required oil-consumption test unless I pay $750.00. Hyundai Corporate also refused to authorize the test, stating the vehicle is out of warranty, even though this is a known engine defect affecting many Hyundai vehicles. Without the official test, Hyundai will not review the engine defect or consider a goodwill engine replacement. This is a safety issue because the engine can fail without warning. The dealership and Hyundai are refusing to perform the required diagnostic test unless I pay $750, and refusing to review the defect without that test.Read more

The vehicle experienced coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders related to the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. The issue has been diagnosed as an internal engine failure requiring engine replacement. Symptoms included coolant loss, engine misfires, rough operation, white exhaust smoke, check engine warnings, and intermittent no-start conditions. The vehicle is currently at a Ford dealership and is avail
... able for inspection upon request. The vehicle experienced rough engine operation, loss of power, shaking, intermittent starting issues, and engine fault warnings while being driven on public roads. The engine misfires and loss of performance created concern about the vehicle potentially stalling unexpectedly in traffic or during highway driving, which could have increased the risk of an accident. The coolant intrusion also created concerns about sudden engine failure while the vehicle was in operation. Yes. The problem was initially diagnosed by a trusted independent mechanic and later confirmed by a Ford dealership. Both identified coolant intrusion consistent with the known issues associated with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine and Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12. Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by both an independent mechanic and a Ford dealership service department. Ford corporate customer service has also been contacted regarding the issue and an active case has been denied coverage. Yes. Prior to the confirmed failure, the vehicle experienced rough idle, shaking when placed into drive, engine misfires, coolant loss, and intermittent starting issues. The check engine light and “Engine Fault – Service Now” warning message also appeared. Symptoms first became noticeable shortly before diagnosis and progressively worsened over time.Read more

First, after a trip of approximately 100 miles, the vehicle would not advance after stopping at a STOP sign. I had to shift from DRIVE to PARK and back to DRIVE before the vehicle would move. Once again I had to pull over, put the vehicle in PARK and re-engage DRIVE before the vehicle would drive in a more normal fashion. It was the following day, when I entered the dealership for a service appointment, that the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle did not run smoothly. The service department determined it was a spark plug issue and claims the problem has been resolved. They also said this issue is fairly common on new (2026) Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Engine oil pump is failing. Early production 2019-2020 model years are made of plastic which can crack and break resulting in engine failure while driving. This is a well documented issue regarding the BMW B58 Engine (2nd Generation) They have since updated the engine oil pump part to a durable metal pump on newer models leaving the older ones with the bad part with no resolution. The vehicle no l
... onger measures the oil level and is a symptom of the pump starting to fail. There is no telling when it may go out and it will be too late at that point as it results in complete engine failure/seizure while driving without proper pressure and lubrication. The local BMW Dealer says they are unable to help as BMW does not have a recall or technical service bulletin addressing this issue leaving owners with this plastic oil pump to pay out of pocket when this part fails destroying the motor. This is a critical safety hazard as the motor may shut off or malfunction at any given time while driving. The vehicle may produce a warning light or malfunction codes via the OBD, but at that point may be too late as the damage has already occurred. My independent bmw mechanic has also stated he sees many cars within this model year timeframe facing this issue as they age outside of the warranty period quoting $5K+ to ensure safety and fix this issue properly with the updated metal part. This is ridiculous as these cars by now are outside of the factory warranty period of 4 years and 50,000 miles. My vehicle does not measure the oil anymore even after a oil change leaving a big question mark of whether there is the proper amount of oil to lubricate the engine or not. Multiple mechanics, including Heritage Honda Parkville, indicated that head gasket failure is a co
... mmon issue with this engine type. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety was put at risk due to the vehicle frequently overheating while driving. An overheating engine can lead to sudden vehicle breakdown, engine failure, loss of power, or being stranded unexpectedly in traffic or unsafe locations. The recurring check engine light and unresolved engine concerns created uncertainty regarding the reliability and safe operation of the vehicle during daily commuting and long-distance travel. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The concern was initially discussed by technician [XXX] at Heritage Honda Parkville during my service visit on March 19, 2026. The technician advised that the “most common issue” with these engines along with my vehicle is head gasket failure. Additionally, multiple independent reputable mechanics later echoed the same concern, stating they have seen numerous Honda Accord vehicles with the 1.5L turbo engine require head gasket replacement and, in many cases, full engine replacement. 4. I was told that the 3 yr engine warranty begins anew. When I got home I looked more closely at the alignment document and saw that the alignment was still slightly out of spec. I called and was told that it was the best they could do. 04-10-2026: air conditioning not working and asked for them to fix the alignment. 04-13-2026: I again brought the vehicle in for service. But was told there were no loaners available. I arrived at 9:30am and at 1:00pm. The A/C was fixed and determined the frame was not set correctly when they replaced the engine. This was the reason the alignment was off by so much. So the alignment was fixed. 04-14-2026: Leaking oil. So again, I had to return to Ira Honda. No loaner was available. 04-18-2024: Saturday morning and we smelled gas in the garage. Started the car and it took about a minute to start. Asked if it was safe to drive, Ira service said yes. 04-20-2026: Started the vehicle up and same issue occurred. However, this time gas was leaking out. It leaked in our garage, on our driveway and all over the street. Again fixed. 04-29-2026: Car again failed to start. During startup the car leaked a large amount of gas. It is still at the dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIONRead more

I called Brown Dobb Hyundai in Easton Pennsylvania. They told me this recall has nothing to do with my car because of the VIN number. But everything that is happening to it is is under recall 187. But because of the VIN number they are insisting it’s not my car. What can I do before I get in an accident? I don’t have any other cars to rely on. I have a son with Autism and I am a single mother. What else can I do? I had this car not even three months.Read more

Vehicle developed a check engine light and camshaft sensor fault at approximately 48,000 miles. Engine began making abnormal ticking noise and later entered reduced power/limp mode condition. ... evaluation and bore scope inspection. Supporting documentation from the authorized Porsche dealership, including bore scope video and diagnostic findings, has been retained. A Porsche-focused independent repair facility later identified a fractured rocker arm within the valvetrain assembly as the root cause of the failure. 2020 Hyundai Palisade, VIN: [XXX] . Excessive engine oil consumption beginning at ~95,418 miles. Oil drops to critical levels between oil changes, causing engine hesitation, rough running, and Check Engine Light activation — CEL clears only after oil is manually added, confirming oil starvation as the cause. SAFETY RISKS: Engine seizure or stall at highway speed; engine fire from oil burning on
... hot components; sudden loss of vehicle control; CEL only illuminates after oil is already critical, leaving no safe warning window. DEALER: Vehicle brought to dealership in [XXX] on 8/25/25 (95,451 mi) and Barnes Crossing Hyundai, [XXX] on 4/22/26 (99,969 mi). RO# XXX/1. HMA Case# XXX. Both dealers confirmed abnormal oil consumption. MANUFACTURER RESPONSE: Hyundai Motor America denied all repair or engine replacement solely because the title was transferred from a family member. Hyundai's own XXX (Dec. 2023) acknowledges systemic oil consumption across all Hyundai gasoline engines and mandates a repair protocol including engine replacement. A title transfer does not cause a mechanical defect and Hyundai failed to apply its own TSB procedures before denial. REQUESTED ACTION: Investigate HMA's pattern of denying TXXX remedies after title transfers; compel engine repair/replacement at no cost; evaluate safety recall eligibility.
