My engine lights turned on Friday, April 24th and I brought in my vehicle to a local dealership on Monday, April 27th. I was informed it was due to a faulty catalytic converter and it was replaced under warranty. The services was completed on Tuesday, April 29th and took my vehicle home. On May 7th, I turn on my engine and all the engine check lights came on. My car was jerky. I was scheduled to b
... ring in my vehicle on May 12th to a local dealership. On May 13th, I received update that my engine had oil leakage and required a new engine. I believe that my 2019 Honda Pilot is among the thousands of Honda Pilot within the make year that are experiencing engine failure. I need support to replace my engine as I should not be responsible as I continue to maintain maintenance on my vehicle and to experience this engine failure issue.Read more

The vehicle has coolant intrusion, and engine has been reported knock. Before the incident, I called the Bloomfield office to book an appointment, I was put on call waiting but no response, I booked the appointment online, no confirmation. I then booked another appointment and went to Springfield, Vauxhall Ford plant when I received the Recall paper. The agent that responded to me told me that the
... parts are not available and I have to wait for the part. I told them that the engine light is coming up and that maybe it is due to recall issue. They told me that I will pay $275 for diagnosis, and if any part or repair is needed, it will be additional charge. I told them to provide me with the temporary solution suggested by Ford on the paper. The agent told me that if they provide that, I will not get the intended part when it is available . I went to a local shop where they help me to change one of the misfired plug, change the oil, and add to the coolant because the level was low, and asked me to come back few days later to do the proper checking/smoke test. I packed the car, and on the appointment date, I tried to start the car, the car did not work again. I call my local mechanic to check for me, find out that the coolant has went down again! He said that the car has coolant intrusion and has affected the engine. I need to replace the engine now!Read more

This is an extremely common issue plaguing Hyundai & Kia vehicles with the Theta III 2.5L Turbo engine, Such as Kia K5 GT, Hyundai Sante Fe, Hyundai Santa Cruz, & Hyundai Sonata N-Line. Its a failing ITM (integrated thermal management) unit or otherwise known as an ITMS unit. There is a rod within the ITM that prevents proper control of the flow of cooling the oil and engine coolant of the engine
... . Results in Cooling issues, such as a cold lower radiator hose while the engine is hot, or 'limp mode' during acceleration, that causes a sudden loss of power while trying to merge on the expressway. There has been other Kia models and years that have had TSB's related to fixing this issue, but Hyundai has released nothing. I have uploaded an example of one of the TSB's that do not apply to my car. Technical symptoms often include: Fans running 100% full duty (high) while the lower radiator hose stays cool. Or Fuel dilution or a 'rich' running engine. Because the engine is overcooling that keeps the car's fueling rich and in a open loop mode affecting emissions and contaminating oil. Personal Details of exactly what happened when i noticed mine was failing. I ran home on my lunch break, and while accelerating on a ramp to get up on a highway, my car started beeping and flashing "Engine Overheated" and i immediately let off the gas with preparation to pull over. The second i left off the gas, the coolant temp within 1-2 seconds went from a little over 3/4 the way up the gauge back to normal a little below half temp. I resumed driving a 3 mile drive back to work, with it showing normal temps the rest of the way. I popped the hood when i got to work to see if coolant was low, and it was completely normal, a little over halfway between the min/max lines. The car continues to run hot, often with the cooling fans running at 100%.Read more

Engine failed while driving, Took it to dealership and the engine is seized. We were declined by Hyundai an engine replacement even though the Theta 2 engines have a lifetime replacement warranty because these engines are known to fail. They constantly deny due to 'severe owner neglect' because people do their own oil changes.

Worst dealership my husband and I ever dealt with. We purchased a 2019 Nissan XD Titan Diesel with warranty. Two days after purchase, the check engine light came on. I called Spencer from the service department to let them know. They took the truck the very next day; it was some issue with the gas tank, so the part was back-ordered. After getting that fixed, the check engine light still never went
... off. I questioned the dealership; all they could say was it was probably a dirty sensor. Then, not even two weeks later, I was leaving a doctor's appointment on the interstate when it threw up a code for low coolant, saying it was about to go into limp mode. So, I made it to the dealership's service station. They said it was okay and couldn't find anything wrong with it, then told me to just keep driving it until it broke down or delete it if it was them. They said, 'You know, we don't deal with a lot of diesel, so it may need to go to another dealership.' Then, two months went by, and we had more issues. We ended up back at the dealership to find out that it now had an oil leak that was quoted to us as a $14,000 job for parts and labor. We also had extended warranty and powertrain, but Spencer failed to file the warranty claim correctly the first time and filed under the wrong warranty, so they denied it. We had to call management to get them to check why, and the problem was that the service department didn't know how to file the correct warranty claim. After that was submitted, my husband asked Spencer directly and the service department if they did rentals through our warranty. They said they don't give rentals at that dealership. Note that we found out later through our warranty that they did pay, but we weren't given that chance. After picking up the vehicle, the check engine light was still on !!! there’s so much more details to the story!!!!!Read more

I had been hearing a ticking or clicking sound from the engine. When I brought it to a Honda dealership that I had used about a year ago for the 100,000 mile maintenance, I was told that the truck had a rod bearing failure and that I needed a new engine. I was told that if I kept driving it as is, that I could have catastrophic engine seizure without warning at anytime. This is a disaster waiti
... ng to happen. I saw that the same part on both the Ridgeline models of 2017 and 2019 had been recalled in 2023. The truck only has 110k miles and I have faithfully had routine maintenance. For an expensive $9,500 engine to fail at only 110,000 miles is not right. I will try to upload a picture of the invoice in a separate email. I hope this information will be part of the second investigation of the initial recall and also the present lawsuit against Honda in the state of California, thus sufficing as more evidence that the 2018 Ridgeline should be included in a Second Recall.Read more

There are three dangerous systems in my 2025 Honda Pilot EX-L that should be permanently disabled or removed by the manufacturer or dealer. In order of danger; (1) Collision Mitigation Braking System, (2) Auto Idle Stop, and (3) Road Departure Mitigation System. All three of these systems have nearly caused wrecks for me several times. The Collision Mitigation Braking System (1) is especially dang
... erous for rear-end collisions to the vehicle using CMBS. Example, I was driving in heavy traffic in the middle lane on I-40 near Hermitage, Tennessee on 23 Apr 2026 with adequate distance between me and the car in front of me. A tractor-trailer was close behind me. Suddenly, a car in the lane to my right moved into the gap in my lane between me and the car that was at a safe distance in front of me. The CMBS activated and started braking the car. I pressed the gas pedal hard to try and maintain my 70 MPH speed to no avail. The tractor-trailer swerved into the lane to my left missing the rear of my car by inches, and avoiding a massive chain reaction collision of many cars. This was a near fatal event for me. Without CMBS, I would have simply held my speed steady until I could create a safe distance and ease into a safer position, possibly in the lane to my right, a much less eventful situation. The Auto Idle Stop (2) has a knack for shutting off the engine when I am trying to make a left turn in heavy traffic. After several near misses, I have learned to turn this system off when starting the engine (the default is on). The Road Departure Mitigation System (3) shakes the steering wheel if the system thinks you are moving out of your lane. It shakes the steering wheel to alert you. Twice, I was caught by surprise and overcorrected the steering when the Road Departure Mitigation System started shaking the steering wheel. So instead of staying in my lane, this almost caused me to go out of my lane and possibly collide with another car or a road barrier.Read more

In October of 2025 my husband noticed that our car was idling roughly and checked that there was plenty of oil in the system. The dipstick was pretty much empty so my husband added approximately 3 quarts of oil to bring it up to a little over half. After a thousand miles he checked to make sure it was still holding stead just in case. When he did so the dip stick again showed nearly empty. On appr
... oximately October 13, 2025 we took our vehicle into the local Kia Service center and they informed us that we would have to do an oil consumption test. The results of this test were that we were losing 2 quarts of oil per 1000 miles. We asked what could be done to remedy the situation and were told we would have to pay $900 for a chemical treatment that "might fix the problem". They said if the $900 cleaning did not work we would have to pay to have the engine repaired/replaced which we simply can't afford. Upon doing some research online we found that this was a problem that a lot of people had not just with our product year but that previous cars of the same make and model had a class action lawsuit due to similar issues. We drive 85 miles per day 5 days a week and feel that this is a major safety hazard. We also have a [XXX] daughter who would potentially be impacted if something happened while driving on the interstate. This is our only vehicle and is essential to our jobs as I work as a rehab director and occupational therapy assistant in a memory care facility and my husband is an assistant manager with a local business that requires him to use our car daily. We sent certified letters to Kia Corporate on Monday May 11, 2026 after attempting to deal with the dealership directly regarding these problems with no remedies offered there. Yesterday, my husband called Kia Corporate and they claimed that they hadn't received the letter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Cold start rattle lasting a second or more. Ford dealer diagnosed it as being bad cam phaser (TSB 23-2143). This is a very common issue with 3.5L engines from 2017-2020 - well documented on forums and youtube (even by ford technicians). I contacted Ford to see if they would assist in covering cost (my vehicle was a previous fleet vehicle and sold certified used in Dec 2020 with warranty running
... out in Dec 2025). Ford had several CSP's related to these engine and model years (21B10 and 21N03). Ford says my vehicle is not affected by these two CSPs and that is why coverage is denied. Dealer did determine my vehicle qualified under both CSPs based on information from the CSP's (make, model, build plant). My vehicle is affected by known bad parts, Ford redesigned VCT. Per Ford technicians, the new VCT design is the only long term fix (PCM reflash and replacing with original VCT parts are not). How can a TSB (23-2143) cover my vehicle when the previous CSP did not - for the same issue. Ford is refusing to assist customers cover cost to replace of known poorly designed parts (why would they redesign if they didn't know)? Ford does not include my vehicle in the CSPs though it matches criteria - Ford possibly drastically understated the number of vehicles affected by these CSP's. Dealer says mine is affected by this but Frod doesn't include my vehicle. This should be a full recall (not time limited under CSPs) as it can cause the vehicle to not start when auto stop/start is enabled (middle of 5 lane highway in Atlanta metro area rush hour). Failure of cam phasers can force vehicle into limp mode reducing ability to operate vehicle . Ford is well aware the parts are faulty and an integral part of the engine, why would they redesign if they were not faulty?Read more

I purchased this vehicle from CarMax about 5 months ago. It had 74,XXX miles. CarMax showed no open recalls and a printed sheet from your site showing the same. Several weeks ago, while driving, the engine seized. I sent it to one of the local Hyundai dealers for repair. Hyundai said because recall Campaign #966 had not been performed, they would not replace the engine under the extended warr
... anty. When I purchased the vehicle, I had the foresight to purchase an extended warranty from Assurant. Eventually I found they will cover the repair. I have to pay the $600 deductible, plus a $350 labor charge for diagnostic work. Here is my problem, CarMax told me there was no open recalls (based on your web site), and I counted on CarMax having an accurate knowledge about this when I purchased the vehicle. This is particularly disturbing because in 2022 CarMax settled out of court with 30+ states in part, for failure to disclose open recalls on vehicles they sold. True, I could have checked myself, but how did your entity report no open recalls on this VIN, and CarMax reported no open recalls on this VIN, but Hyundai was aware of the open recalls, and denied an engine warranty repair because the recall campaign had not been completed? There are two other open campaigns, # 933 and #P33 as well. The Hyundai dealer is going to perform these recalls after the repair. To summarize, I purchased this vehicle in good faith that the information provided on the NHTSA sheet, and the CarMax sheet were correct there were no open recalls. According to the dealership, the engine shows **no compression on all cylinders**, **crankshaft and camshaft compression failure**, **pistons coated in oil and fuel with visible damage**, and a **non‑functioning timing chain likely due to a broken guide**. These findings mirror the exact symptoms currently under investigation in GM’s **EA25007** inquiry involving the 6.2L V8 (L87) engines in 2021–2025 GM trucks and SUVs GM has already issued a major recall affecting nearly **600,000 vehicles** due to defective connecting rods and crankshafts that can cause sudden engine failure, stalling, and potential fire hazards. Although my 2019 Silverado is not included in the recall, it is experiencing the same catastrophic engine failure associated with the defective components identified in the investigation. The dealership has quoted me $10,000 for an engine rebuild and has refused to assist with the cost. I have also filed a complaint directly with GM, as this failure presents the same safety risks and mechanical defects acknowledged in the recalled models. This sudden engine failure placed my family and other motorists in immediate danger, and the lack of w INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I took my vehicle to the local Ford dealership for service due to a check engine light being on. They pulled the spark plug and found the cylinder full of coolant and found TSB-22-2229. I have had my car for almost two years. This problem has been on-going the whole time. It happens intermittently, I never know. While driving on the highway at 60 mph, warning on dash came on saying “engine power reduced” and drop down speed to around 25 mph and I could not accelerate more than 25 mph on the highway which could have caused an accident because of the traffic flow behind me. I put a code scanner under the dash and it read code P2138, Throttle pedal position sensor switch.

Hello, My vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ) is not operational due to coolant intrusion/corrosion. I was informed this issue is not covered by the Customer Satisfaction Program, but this failure matches a known problem affecting this model/year and should be reconsidered. Two months ago I took the car to Bob Allen Ford in Overland Park for a check-engine light. They replaced a coolant-related part, but the
... coolant intrusion was not discovered. Approximately 2,000 miles after that service the vehicle became undrivable. At the time of that visit I requested a bumper-to-bumper inspection and was told no. I am highly upset that a likely systemic issue was not identified or addressed, and that coverage has been denied despite the circumstances. Please have a supervisor or specialist call me to explain why coverage was refused, review the service and inspection history, and discuss options for goodwill, escalation, or repair assistance. I expect a clear explanation, next steps, and a timeline. The vehicle experienced repeated catastrophic engine failures, including failure of a replacement engine. Approximately six months after purchase and at around 80,000 miles, the engine failed and required a complete engine replacement through Volkswagen and the MaxCare service contract. Approximately one to one and a half years later, at around 120,000 miles, the replacement engine also failed. T
... he vehicle developed rough idle conditions, check engine light warnings, timing chain and camshaft-related issues, lubrication-related concerns, and severe engine performance problems. Volkswagen later recommended another complete engine rebuild or replacement along with additional engine-related repairs. The vehicle became non-operable and could no longer be safely or reliably driven. The repeated failure of both the original engine and replacement engine suggests an ongoing defect-related condition rather than normal wear or an isolated mechanical failure. The problems were confirmed and documented by Volkswagen service personnel. Similar engine-related concerns involving oil consumption, lubrication issues, timing system concerns, and engine performance problems are also reflected in Volkswagen Technical Service Bulletins involving this type of engine.Read more

The auto idle stop feature will kick in at red lights, shutting the engine down. However, every approximate 1 out of 10 times the engine and electrical system fully shut down when I try to start the car moving again. The car can then not be restarted for close to a minute. This results in not being able to move when the light turns green and is dangerous is heavy traffic areas.

The upper radiator hose on some huge percentage of these trucks fail (mine has failed at just over 35k miles). You can check the Colorado Chevy forum, youtube, etc., et al, and find plenty of instances where this has failed. As this is the cooling system, it can cause the engine to overheat and potentially ruin the engine. The flaw seems to be an engineering issue with the rubber seal they use (in
... stead of a high quality o-ring) to seal the upper hose to the radiator. Additionally, since this can cause engine failure it should be addressed immediately. Instead, my local Chevy dealer, since its not a recall item, said they could schedule a time next week for me to LEAVE the truck and then they would get to it in 7-10 days. This is extremely unfair to the consumer who depends on these vehicles. This should absolutely be a recall item. You can find 1000's of examples online and if you can pull GM repair data, I'm sure you'll find 1000's more.Read more
