I am submitting a complaint regarding a turbocharger failure on my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe VIN [XXX] . The vehicle experienced turbocharger-related failure symptoms including loss of power and drivability concerns. This created a potentially dangerous situation because the vehicle was unable to accelerate normally and could have caused difficulty merging into traffic or maintaining safe roadway spe
... eds. I contacted Hyundai Motor America requesting assistance with repair coverage. Hyundai denied assistance solely because the vehicle was outside the warranty period by time and mileage, despite the seriousness of the failure. I am concerned this issue may be related to broader engine or oil-related defects reported in Hyundai vehicles, including possible oil starvation, excessive oil consumption, or internal engine contamination that could contribute to turbocharger damage or failure. I believe this condition may represent a safety-related defect because sudden power loss during operation increases the risk of a crash. I request that NHTSA review this issue and investigate whether similar turbocharger or related engine failures are occurring in 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles. The vehicle experienced engine failure due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders on a 1.5L EcoBoost engine. Symptoms included coolant loss, engine misfires, rough running, check engine light, and eventual engine failure requiring engine replacement. The problem has been confirmed by Ford and is consistent with the known coolant intrusion defect affecting many Ford 1.5L EcoBoost engines. Ford is
... sued Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12 for certain affected vehicles due to this exact issue. The vehicle has approximately 76,000 miles and is under the mileage limit referenced in Ford’s program, but Ford denied full coverage and only offered partial financial assistance toward the repair. This issue creates a serious safety concern because the engine can lose power, misfire, overheat, or fail unexpectedly while driving. The failure appears to be caused by a defect in the engine design allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber. I believe this is a widespread defect and should be covered for all affected vehicles experiencing coolant intrusion and engine failure.Read more

... have also had bad engine oil burning problems and electrical problems. All of these (I now know, but did not before) are recurring problems for 2019 Tiguans. The cylinder head was rebuilt last year, associated with a similar instance. I am now fully aware that the 2019 Tiguans are known to experience all of these problems, but when I brought my car in on previous occasions, that never got mentioned. I am told XYZ is an issue, then billed for repairs. The car was originally leased, and when I purchased it at the end of the lease, I also purchased a full premium warranty. When the issue happened in May of 2025, the policy eventually covered this, but it took over a month of justifications and records before the third-party insurance company agreed to cover the repairs. All of this said, I am no longer comfortable that this car is safe for my wife to drive, as the issues that are repeating are known issues, and yet Volkswagen seems to sweep these under the rug from both a manufacturer and dealership perspective. Engine seized up while driving 60 mph on a known GM recall, after passing recall pico test
Incident date: May 5, 2026
In the second year of ownership I noticed that occasionally I would get no throttle response from the gas pedal when trying to accelerate. After several occurrences I began to pay close attention as to when this was occurring. I found that this occurs mostly, not exclusively, when I am slowing the vehicle to a near stop, not a full stop and then accelerating to continue, like slowing to round a
... corner on a green light and getting into traffic. For example, I was exiting a Home Depot parking lot, the driveway exits to the roadway. As I approached the driveway to enter the roadway I slowed, preparing to stop. Seeing no traffic on the roadway I then pushed the accelerator to enter the roadway. The pedal was dead, I got absolutely no acceleration. I pushed the pedal down slowly, nothing. I pushed the pedal to the floor, nothing. The truck rolled out onto the road, I coasted to the side of the road. Had there been traffic I'd have been hit. This has happened 20 times in two years and 80K miles. The most recent event was this week with my wife present, very scary, dead pedal, not throttle response. If you research "Dead Pedal" on GOOGLE, you will get the following response: The "dead pedal" in the Ford F-150 PowerBoost—a dangerous lag or total loss of throttle response—is a widely reported issue, particularly when accelerating from low speeds, turning, or right after starting. [1, 2, 3] The cause can range from a software glitch to transmission issues or failing sensors. Ford said there was a TSB, however the work performed had no effect on the dead pedal on my truck. Invoice attached from March 2026, it just occurred again this week. I am going to trade the vehicle in but I doubt that Ford will disclose this flaw to the next buyer, it will be their's to discover, hopefully not by "accident". I am going to trade this vehicle in and I'm sure the new buyer will have no idea of this potentially deadly flaw.Read more

As a loyal GM customer who has purchased three Cadillac Escalades and had them exclusively serviced at Cadillac dealerships, , I am writing regarding my 2023 Escalade, equipped with the 6.2L V8 (L87) engine, affected by the recall (N252494000) impacting approximately 597,630 vehicles . I recently took my vehicle to a Cadillac dealership for the recall inspection, where it passed, received a switc
... h to o@-40 Mobil 1 Supercar oil, and was granted an extended warranty of 10 years or 150,000 miles from the purchase date. Despite this , I am deeply troubled by GM's handling of the recall, which has caused significant unease, undermined my trust, failed to honor my loyalty, and imposed unfair burdens. I respectfully request clarification and action on the following issues: Inadequate Recall Remedy and Impact on Gas Mileage - The remedy for vehicles that pass inspection- switching from 0W-20 to higher-viscosity 0W40 oil- raises serious doubts about its effectiveness in addressing a manufacturing defect in the crankshaft and/or connecting rods, which GM acknowledges can lead to engine failure and increase crash risk. Many owners, including myself, question whether thicker oil is a permanent solution or a temporary workaround. Additionally, the switch to 0W-40 is likely to reduce fuel efficiency due to increased engine drag, imposing an unaddressed cost in deduced gas mileage. This is especially concerning for me, as I rely on my Escalade for annual drives from [XXX] to [XXX] for the winter months. Can GM provide technical evidence proving the oil change fully resolves the defect, and will the company compensate owners for the loss in fuel economy? Inconsistent Communications Regarding the Extended Warranty - The dealership assured my vehicle is "fine" after passing the inspection, yet GM is providing an extended warranty of 10 years or 150,000 miles. The vehicle's electronic variable valve timing actuator (E-CVVT motor) failed, triggering a severe "Limp Home" engine mode. In August 2025, my car went into "limp mode" (go no faster than 40 MPH and it was lurching and speed dropping) on the freeway, which was scary and dangerous. Once home, I called a certified mechanic. Because I am on limited income, I could not afford to have the car towed until November 2025. Once there, the dealership verified that the main bearings went out. A claim was made to the manufacturer. The claim was denied claiming "outside influence." I provided service records to the manufacturer, but before they had all the maintenance records, they closed my case and will no longer take documents or even speak to me or the dealer. There was a recall on my PVC part in my 2023 atlas. An effect of a clogged pvc is an oil leak. The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system relieves built-up pressure inside your engine. When it fails or clogs, this pressure traps air inside the crankcase. The excess pressure often forces oil out through the weakest points, which can mimic a bad seal or gasket. I took my car to the dealership
... in Md and they claim that I need to get new seals on several parts of my car but they claim that my oil leak its not related to the PVC. This is a 2023 car with one owner and no previous problems. There are thousands of complaints online about the PVC part continuing to fail and continuing to cause oil leaks in consumers cars. The oil leak has also caused my driving belt to fail and in my case shred while driving. This is unsafe and makes cars slow down instantly and can cause major car accidents. Why are consumers expected to pay for seal replacements when its related to failed parts on a car. The VW dealership said that my engine light would need to be on for them to say its a result of the failed PVC but my engine light was on when I dropped my car off. The dealership said they will not replaced parts that were effected from failed PVC due to car being out of warranty. My research tells me that Volkswagen is legally responsible. Because auto manufacturers are governed by strict liability laws, they are responsible for injuries and property damage flowing from the defective product they sold.VW wants consumers to pay $842 dollars to replace a part that cost less than $20. The VW company said that I needed to get my recall repair done earlier in order for them to honor the damages however Ive never seen a recall that came with a time limits on car repairs. This is highway robbery and VW needs to be held responsible for failing to maintain accountable and damages to consumers.Read more

For the past several years, this vehicle has experienced a recurring and unresolved engine malfunction that creates a safety hazard. This is not an isolated incident but a recurring defect that has persisted for years. Multiple diagnostic and repair attempts have been unsuccessful: • Coconut Creek Hyundai service center - unable to diagnose [DATE(S)] • Independent mechanics - unable to resolve [DATE(S)] • Issue remains unresolved despite multiple service visits Despite multiple attempts by qualified technicians, the root cause has not been identified and the defect has not been corrected. This malfunction creates a significant safety hazard: • Unintended acceleration increases risk of collision • Reduced acceleration capability limits ability to merge or accelerate safely • Check engine light indicates undiagnosed system failure • Problem is intermittent and unpredictable, making it unsafe to drive I am concerned this may represent a defect pattern affecting multiple 2019 Sonata vehicles. I purchased my 2022 Hyundai Kona on August 28, 2024, and I am the first registered owner. Only 48 days after purchase, the vehicle suddenly broke down without warning while stopped at a red light in [XXX] after traveling from [XXX] . The vehicle had to be towed. Since then, the vehicle has repeatedly experienced dangerous engine and timing-related issues despite major repairs, including an engine

On January 1, 2026, while attempting to pass a semi-truck on a multi-lane highway, the vehicle suddenly lagged, lost acceleration power, and emitted a large cloud of white smoke from the exhaust. This created an extremely unsafe situation because I was actively passing traffic at highway speeds and could have been struck by surrounding vehicles. I have also experienced these failures late at night on busy highways while traveling between [XXX] and [XXX] . In March 2026, the vehicle again emitted a large cloud of smoke and resumed lagging during acceleration. On April 23, 2026, Hyundai of Meridian informed me they personally witnessed the vehicle emit another large cloud of black smoke during test driving. These smoke events can reduce visibility for surrounding drivers and create hazardous roadway conditions. The vehicle began suffering rough idling, difficulty starting, and dangerous stalling events during operation. Cycling the ignition on and off provided only temporary relief. The check engine light has now become permanently illuminated. The safety hazards have severely escalated into a protective engine "limp mode," causing violent drivetrain shuddering and a catastrophic loss of driveability. The dealer has now confirmed that the dipstick was not picking up oil, the oil level was severely low, the oil condition was severely degraded, and abnormal engine noise was heard. My VIN also shows active GM Special Coverage N252494003 through 1/15/2032 or 150,027 miles. They told me that the repaired will cost me $5500. Unfortunately this is an amount that I do not have. So I reached out to the Mazda Corporate and they told me that there is no repair assistance can be provided and that I should reach out to Mazda D
... ealership and see if they may accept to put the cost of the repair towards the Good Will Repair. Unfortunately I haven’t been successful with that either. My Mazda Corporate case number is 00450563. This issue is created safety issue with burning engine oils and fume entering the vehicle. This is well known issue with this car model and unfortunately Mazda has made a recall on any of them. While I understand that this may cause Mazda Millions if a recall is put out, it will great to assist with the ones experiencing this issue. Any assistance regarding this matter will be truly appreciated.Read more

This engine uses a metal timing chain inside the engine. Infinit chose to use plastic guides and tensors to keep the chain in place and not wear stretch. This choice of PLASTIC results in the eventual failure of the components that are needed to keep the chain in place. First signs of impending failure is a rattle inside the engine. Eventual the chain will break loose and destroy the engine.
... The parts themselves can be purchased at any auto parts store for under $50.00, however labor is in the thousands or engine complete failure. A simple search of the internet will show that nearly all owners experience this. Most opting to sell the vehicle or chance failure does not occur. My mechanic has confirmed and I will go to an Infiniti dealer if need be.Read more

The catalytic converter heat exchanger failed internally, causing coolant to leak into the exhaust system. Symptoms included white smoke from exhaust and coolant loss with no visible ground leak. This is a documented factory defect per Toyota Technical Service Bulletin T-SB-0135-19 affecting 2016-2019 Prius models. Toyota has denied warranty coverage despite the vehicle was originally bought & spe
... nt its entire prior operational life registered in New York, a state covered under Toyota's full 15-year/150,000-mile emissions warranty. Defect was confirmed by an authorized Toyota dealership, in PA. Vehicle had approximately 83,104 miles at time of diagnosis. Manufacturer denied coverage and is forcing the customer (me) to pay a huge amount for this very well known & defective case. MOST IMPORTANTLY ITS dangerous and unsafe for all the cars our there too, since it is very well known that at a certain point this will happen, but despite TOYOTA never sent a RECALL. Due to this, engine light goes on & off, refrigerant is flammable and leaks in the exhaust pipe happens with this specific case, which ultimately could catch on fire, while the vehicle is moving or stalling. Lots of white smoke comes out of the car that directly impact the environmental aspects, and above all, people owning such vehicle, will be running into this issue, which will 100% put the safety of owner and anyone close in proximity to their vehicle at RISK. PLEASE ADD RECALL WITHOUT CAP for ALL SUCH TOYATA PRIUS due to flammable refrigerant leak inside the car engine components, and proven via strong white smoke coming out of exhaust that has the potentially to put the entire car on fire, specifically.Read more

MY FORD EDGE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, THE TEMPERATURE WAS INCONSISTENT, AND IT WAS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. THE FINAL STRAW WAS THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. WE NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT WAS CONSISTENTLY LOW BUT THAT WAS AN ONGOING ISSUE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE AND IT NEEDED AN ENGINE REPLACEME
... NT. WE PAID ALMOST $10,000 FOR AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT AS WITHOUT IT THE CAR WAS WORTHLESS AND A TICKING TIME BOMB. I DIDN'T FEEL FINE SELLING IT TO SOMEONE LIKE THAT, SO WE REPAIRED THE VEHICLE WHICH HAD APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME AND PAID OUT OF POCKET AS FORD WAS NOT WILLING TO HELP WITH THE EXPENSE AT ALL. THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT SHAPE AND LOW MILEAGE, THAT WAS A PRETTY BIG ISSUE AND PRICE TO PAY FOR A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT.Read more

On January [Insert Date], 2026, my 2024 Ford Escape suffered a sudden turbocharger failure that saturated the vehicle’s internal HVAC system with toxic ethylene glycol coolant. The vehicle’s ventilation system subsequently pumped these toxic chemical vapors directly into the enclosed passenger cabin. The inhalation of these toxic chemical vapors posed an immediate, life-threatening risk to my
... pregnant wife and myself (a patient with moderate persistent asthma), backed by formal medical warning letters from our OB/GYN and Pulmonologist. When I refused to take delivery of the un-remedied vehicle, a Ford corporate representative mandated that I drive it anyway, stating that if I suffered a respiratory crisis while operating the vehicle, I should simply "call the ambulance". This ultimatum caused an immediate severe hypertensive crisis (160/112 BP), requiring emergency medical transport to CHI Health Immanuel and cardiac evaluation. This represents a critical component failure causing toxic cabin air contamination, compounded by a complete failure of the manufacturer’s remedy. Ford Engineering and Woodhouse Ford Service admitted in writing that they have NO scientific test to verify cabin air safety and NO official technical procedure to decontaminate the internal HVAC housing following this chemical saturation. Ford’s only attempt at a remedy was an external spot clean and a simple filter replacement, leaving toxic residual chemicals inside the blower housing. Ford's directive to operate a chemically contaminated vehicle without any scientific validation of air safety constitutes an extreme, ongoing non-operational safety defect that risks public safety. To protect my family from severe injury, I was forced to abandon the vehicle at a massive financial loss.Read more
