My engine with less than 5,000 miles died (engine was blown). While driving on highway engine died and wheels locked and almost caused a major accident. I had to get a tow and bill cost me 700.00. GMC is giving me the run around. Dealer stated that engine will need to be replaced. GMC is doing nothing to assist me, I have a car note with no truck GMC is the biggest scam.

My Hyundai Palisade was bought brand new in 2020. It currently has 131,500 miles on it. I noticed at around 110,000 miles that my oil was getting low before each oil change. I check my oil frequently. No oil leaks can be found. So the engine is burning oil somehow. My mechanic says Hyundai says its acceptable for it to burn oil after 100,000 miles but 2 quarts between oil changes seems excessive.
... Ive talked to other Palisade owners who have this year model and have the same issue. If I were not a responsible consumer and checked my oil as frequently as I do then its very possible another consumer could have burned their engine up before they knew what was happening because there is no leak just burning of the oil. This is very dangerous.Read more

While pulling up to a drive thru window the vehicle shuddered and the engine shut off. I lost all power steering and had to come to a stop, shift into park, then restart the engine. No check engine lights or warnings illuminated. There were no status messages to indicate what caused it to shut off. Also the driver side mirror shakes a lot, just like all the other reports say.

The engine in my 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 experienced catastrophic internal failure while driving. No warning lights or check engine indicators came on. Prior to failure, the vehicle began making a loud metallic knocking/rattling sound during acceleration, similar to “rocks shaking in a box.” Shortly afterward, the engine suddenly stalled while driving and would no longer run. The vehicle st
... ill had electrical power but the engine would not restart. The vehicle was towed to Mercedes-Benz of Las Vegas for inspection. The dealer diagnosed the engine as seized and documented metal debris in the oil filter and oil/metal debris underneath the vehicle, indicating catastrophic internal engine damage. The dealer stated that the engine replacement was required. The failed engine and vehicle are currently located at Mercedes-Benz of Las Vegas and are available for inspection upon request. The vehicle stalled unexpectedly while being driven on a public roadway, causing sudden loss of engine power and creating a potentially dangerous traffic situation. The violent shaking and knocking before failure also caused concern that the vehicle could lose control or stop operating completely in traffic, which it ultimately did. A sudden engine seizure and stall while driving creates a significant safety hazard because the driver may lose the ability to accelerate, maneuver safely, or clear traffic. This could increase the risk of collision, especially at highway speeds or in heavy traffic conditions. Mercedes-Benz of Las Vegas inspected the vehicle and confirmed catastrophic engine failure. The dealer documented that the engine was seized and that metal debris was found in the oil filter and underneath the vehicle. The dealer advised that the engine required replacement and provided an estimated repair cost exceeding $27,000. The dealer has not yet identified the root cause of the failure. No dashboard warning lights, oil pressure warnings, or check engine lights illuminated.Read more

Engine randomly shuts off when driving. The issues started 1 week after purchasing the vehicle. First occurrence happened when we were stopped. We pressed the gas pedal and the dash turned red, beeping, with the engine light, oil light, and battery light illuminated with a message reading “ENGINE OFF. Shift to P or N then start engine”. This happened multiple times after. The dealership had
... the vehicle for 1 week and couldn’t reproduce the issue and the car did not have any codes stored. 3 days after picking it up from the dealership, the engine shut off again but this time while driving and actively turning through a 4 lane intersection with my child in the car. The next occurrence happened the morning I was taking it back to the dealership. I was driving 40mph on a city street in the middle lane of 3 lane road when the engine suddenly shut off showing the same error and I had to quickly move to the shoulder to be able to stop and restart the engine. I then informed the dealership that this is a dangerous and very unsafe situation and the car needed towed back to the dealership. The engine shutting off while driving, is very dangerous. If it happened to me at 40mph, there’s a good chance it can happen at highway speeds. This can put many lives at risk having a stalled vehicle in the middle of the road that has to come to a complete stop to restart. This issue is reported by many Telluride owners on Reddit, and Facebook threads. This needs rectifying before it results in casualties.Read more

The vehicle has developed a persistent and progressively worsening rattling noise from the engine during cold starts, along with intermittent rough operation. The symptoms are consistent with a malfunction or defect in the engine timing chain system, including possible timing chain stretch, timing chain tensioner failure, or related internal engine components. This condition presents a serious saf
... ety concern because the timing chain controls engine valve timing. A failure or severe degradation of this system could result in sudden engine stalling or complete engine failure while driving, increasing the risk of a crash without warning, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. The issue began as an intermittent startup rattle and has steadily progressed in frequency and severity. No consistent warning lights were present in the early stages, which may delay driver awareness of an impending failure condition. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership service department, and the concern was acknowledged, but no repair or corrective action has been performed. The condition remains unresolved and continues to progress. Based on owner reports and service feedback for similar vehicles equipped with this engine, this issue appears to reflect a potential widespread defect pattern affecting the timing chain and/or tensioner system in this engine family, rather than an isolated incident. Multiple reports describe similar symptoms occurring around similar mileage ranges, suggesting a possible systemic reliability defect. The vehicle is currently still operable but is operating with a known and worsening engine defect that could result in catastrophic engine failure without warning.Read more

Component/System: The fire department determined the cause of the fire to be accidental due to an electrical malfunction within the vehicle. The most extensive damage was located in the engine compartment, though damage spread to the passenger compartment as well. The vehicle is available on request. The vehicle caught fire while parked on a street. No injuries or displacements occured. However,
... the vehicle became "well involved" with fire, creating an active emergency that required emergent fire department response and suppression. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Since the vehicle receive so much damage, it would only be the emergency response and origin determination by Lubbock Fire Rescue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected on-scene by Lubbock Fire Rescue (Unit E7). The fire department noted no signs of vandalism or tampering, concluding the cause was accidental. The police was also on the scene as well. Were there any warning messages? The owner stated they had driven the vehicle around 20:30 (8:30 PM) the previous evening and it had been parked since. The fire did not break out until approximately 05:13 AM the following morning. There wasn’t any warning lamps or unusual symptoms l present during or prior to that final drive. Summary: On May 28, 2026 the 2018 Nissan Rogue internally combusted. Subsequent inspection of the vehicle revealed fire damage in both the passenger compartment and the engine compartment, with the most severe and extensive damage concentrated in the engine bay. Fire officials found no evidence of tampering or vandalism. Based on the burn patterns and origin point, Lubbock Fire Rescue determined the cause of the fire to be accident al, resulting from an internal electrical malfunction within the vehicle.Read more

Incident date: May 28, 2026
I am reporting a safety concern involving BMW vehicles equipped with the B58 Technical Update (B58TU) engine, commonly found in model years 2019–2021. These vehicles utilize a variable-displacement engine oil pump containing an internal thermoplastic adjusting component responsible for regulating oil pressure. Field failures are increasingly being reported in which this internal component fractu
... res, resulting in sudden loss or instability of engine oil pressure. The failure frequently occurs during cold-start operation in low ambient temperatures. When the component fails, oil pressure regulation becomes erratic or is lost entirely. In many cases, drivers receive little or no actionable warning prior to engine damage or vehicle disablement. Reported precursor symptoms include inability to electronically measure engine oil level, abnormal oil pressure behavior, or sudden drivetrain malfunction warnings. Failures may rapidly progress to engine shutdown or severe mechanical damage caused by oil starvation. Loss of lubrication can cause the vehicle to become disabled without warning while driving or shortly after startup. This creates a safety hazard, particularly when vehicles become immobilized in active traffic or during winter conditions the cold is when they fail the most, where occupants may be exposed to freezing temperatures while awaiting assistance. Replacement of the oil pump requires extensive disassembly of the vehicle and repairs commonly exceed $6,000–$8,000 for just the pump, assuming the motor is unharmed. Failures have been reported across multiple production years, and affected vehicle population boundaries remain unclear. Because this condition can result in sudden vehicle disablement without adequate warning especially in the cold, I believe this issue warrants investigation as a potential safety-related defect.Read more

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my 2018 Honda Accord [VIN# [XXX] ] concerning what I believe to be a defective cylinder head or head gasket — an issue I have since learned is widely reported within the Honda owner community and is currently the subject of active class action litigation. Beginning at approximately 89,000 miles, my vehicle began experiencing episodes of engine
... rumbling followed by sudden shutoff. These episodes occurred two to three times before I brought the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership at approximately 99,000–105,000 miles for diagnosis. At the dealership, I paid for a diagnostic inspection. I was informed that the technicians could not identify the root cause without performing a full engine pull and internal inspection, which they estimated would cost several thousand dollars — with an additional cost of $5,000–$8,000 if the diagnosis confirmed a cracked cylinder head or failed head gasket. Unable to absorb this expense, I did not authorize the repair. In an effort to keep the vehicle operational, I worked with independent mechanics and took the following corrective measures: replacement of spark plugs and ignition coils, replacement of the electric water pump, regular oil changes, maintenance of proper coolant levels, and avoidance of high or sudden acceleration. These measures allowed me to operate the vehicle for approximately one additional year without a recurrence of the shutoff events. Last summer, the vehicle failed to start entirely and could not be made operable. I was required to have it towed approximately 60 miles to its destination. The vehicle has not been operable since. Upon opening the hood, I observed coolant splashed across the engine cover consistent with a catastrophic head gasket failure. This failure occurred despite the vehicle being well maintained throughout my ownership. I believe this represents a known and systemic defect in Honda engine design for this model year. I always turn off the engine auto stop while driving and am sure this feature was turned off at the time of the incident. I was stopped at a drive thru idling in drive when my RPM sounded like it lowered and the the vehicle started shaking. Since it sounded like it was going to stall, I instinctively put the vehicle in park and that naturally bumped up the RPM avoiding a stall. I tried to rep

I would like to note that we did the software emissions recall update at the dealership recently and ever since then the vehicle is consistently idling 100-200 RPM lower than it used to, usually around 500 RPM in drive and 700 RPM in park. I'm grateful this has only happened at a drive thru so far but I'm afraid to stall in traffic as we drive in busy and dangerous areas and it could be deadly to stall in traffic. Since so far I cannot get this to replicate we have not set an appointment at the dealership as all the other complaints on this matter show the dealership is unable to replicate the problem. Component Affected: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Description of the Defect & Incident: My 2024 Nissan Rogue equipped with the 1.5L VC-Turbo engine is exhibiting severe progressive mechanical failure, matching the symptoms described in NHTSA Campaign Numbers 26V080000 (Engine Bearing Seizure) and 26V081000 (Throttle Body Gear Failure). The vehicle is currently experiencing excessive engine shaking, a
... violently rough idle, abnormal mechanical noise from the engine bay, and a dangerous drop in motive power/acceleration. History of the Issue & Dealer Denial: I originally identified and proactively reported an abnormal engine noise to an authorized Nissan dealership in May 2024. The service department issued a "could not duplicate" finding and turned me away. In June 2024, I provided a digital audio/video recording of the symptom at that time. Following the closure of the initial Nissan dealership, I transferred the care and servicing of my 2024 Nissan Rogue to Future Nissan of Roseville. I explicitly reported the recurring, abnormal, loud engine noise and excessive engine shaking with no remedy offered. Following the official February 2026 recall announcements, the symptoms have severely worsened, progressing to violent engine shaking. I returned to the dealership for the recall remedy. The dealership service department is actively denying recall coverage, claiming the current failure is an unrelated "secondary issue" rather than a consequence of the recalled components. Because Nissan's own NHTSA filings explicitly state that these defects are progressive and give advanced warning through "unusual noises or vibration/rough running" before complete engine failure, the dealership's refusal to honor the recall is a violation of federal safety standards. The alleged secondary damage is direct consequential damage from a primary safety defect that I documented within the initial warranty period. Nissan must take responsibility for this failure.Read more

On Dec 3, 2025, the dealer confirmed active DTC P1326 (KSDS) and documented failed cylinder compression (as low as 150 PSI; min spec is 178 PSI). The dealer issued a written diagnosis stating: "engine replacement is required." MANUFACTURER CONDUCT: Despite their own dealer's written diagnosis and the active P1326 safety code, Kia Corporate issued a bad-faith warranty denial. The dealer also unlawfully charged me $165 for the mandatory KSDS warranty diagnostics. SUMMARY: This is a textbook safety failure under NHTSA Investigation EA 21-003. Kia's refusal to replace the engine under the court-supervised Engine Litigation II settlement represents a systemic failure by the manufacturer to remedy a known safety hazard. 51-page evidence packet attached. Vehicle returned 8/18/25 with same failure — dealer confirmed arcing damage and melted inverter. Three visits total; defect unresolved after two repair attempts on the same component. All three visits performed by authorized Chrysler dealer under 10-year/100,000-mile HV battery warranty. Stellantis warranty claim opened each visit. No police or insurance involvement. Red warning "Will Lose All Power" appeared on instrument cluster before each shutdown. Battery range has displayed erratically since 2/28/25 (~17,788 miles), when nonlinear discharge was first reported and dismissed. Active BPCM Level 2 safety fault (L2/L1 CELL MAX V CMP_FLT) remains present today.Read more

I am writing to report a serious, premature failure of a primary emissions and safety-related component (the catalytic converter) that has occurred as a direct consequence of a known, unaddressed manufacturing defect in Hyundai's Theta II engine. My vehicle has a documented history of excessive engine oil consumption. This inherent manufacturing flaw causes the engine to burn motor oil at an extre
... me rate, forcing unburned oil directly into the exhaust system. Over time, this oil has fouled and destroyed the catalytic converter substrate, triggering trouble code P0420 and causing a complete component failure. A dealership inspection at Heritage Hyundai Towson (RO #XXX) confirmed "excessive wear" and failure of the catalytic converter. Because the catalytic converter is failing prematurely due to a liquid defect (excessive oil burning) rather than standard wear and tear, it poses an environmental hazard, compromises vehicle emissions control, and can lead to sudden engine stalling or reduced power while driving, presenting an active safety risk. Hyundai Motor America (Case #XXX) has formally denied assistance to rectify this consequential damage, despite full awareness of the underlying engine defect. I request that NHTSA investigate how Hyundai’s ongoing oil consumption manufacturing issues are causing cascading safety and emissions component failures in these vehicles. It is a common issue on the Honda Civic Type R from 2017 to 2021 in which water will leak through the hood scoop causing water to drip onto cylinder 4 causing a misfire. Misfire No. 4 Cylinder (DTC P0304). There is a TSB for it under 25-062 for this same issue. Water could enter the hood scoop and accumulate down inside the no. 4 spark plug hole. This can corrode the ignition coil, plug tube, and

When driving, the car would go into limp mode and wouldn’t get out of 2nd gear. it was super jerky as well. when taken to a mechanic, it was diagnosed with malfunctioning transmission among some other things such as brakes and tires. we take fairly great care of our vehicles and get them seen for regular maintenance. once the car started acting up, the check engine light came on. it is now unsaf

Hello, I was driving home from work with my six-month old in the car and the engine stalled while on the Belleville Turnpike. It seized and I was almost rear-ended by a tractor trailer hauling lumber to the lumber yard just a few streets away. I couldn't move the car and was afraid of how to even attempt to secure my car as my daughter was strapped in her car seat. An extremely nice man pulled ov
... er and began to flag vehicle to go around me. By this time, I had only my hazard lights on. I was frightened beyond belief having gone through that experience. The car was towed to the dealership who confirmed it was catastrophic engine failure(misfire of a cylinder). They stated initially with my 3rd party warrant that it would be covered and in their words " it was a good thing I had a warranty". Fast forward to two weeks after I check to see what is going on. Things have changed. Now, because I am missing one oil change receipt, they need to be paid $1400, to further corroborate the cause of the engine failure. I haven't paid and honestly don't plan on paying them anything. To date, I have spent over $2,000 on car rental fees since my car is now sitting at the Global Hyundai Dealership.Read more
