Between XXX, a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox RS experienced repeated sudden loss of engine power, throttle control, and steering control at highway speeds. Fuel management system, turbocharger, and catalytic converter failed repeatedly. GM-authorized dealer confirmed defects on multiple warranty repair orders. Breakdown 1: Nov 2024, interstate, rain, nighttime. Vehicle lost power and steering surrounded
... by semi-trucks on three sides with a ditch on the right. Towed to GM dealer. Breakdown 2: Dec 2024, [XXX], 2 miles from home. Same failure. Semi on driver side, vehicles fast approaching from rear, ditch on right. Crawled under 35 mph for 5 miles to next exit. GM OnStar app confirmed Engine/Transmission and Emissions System warnings. Independent scan confirmed P0299, P0171, P00C6. Check Engine FAIL, Emission Ready NO. Breakdown 3: XXX, [XXX] , 1 AM, winter storm. Same failure. Driver stranded. Sustained burns from superheated hood mechanism and fall injuries on wet pavement. Dealer confirmed turbocharger damage, blocked catalytic converter, and fuel rail pressure failures across multiple visits. On fourth repair attempt, dealer technician documented a component from a prior repair had fallen out and was not caught, directly causing the next breakdown. GM Technical Assistance Center was engaged. Same fault codes recurred across all four repair attempts. MyChevrolet app diagnostics, independent AutoZone scans, and dealer warranty repair orders confirm the recurring defect pattern. Vehicle was repossessed by lender in June 2025 following loan delinquency caused directly by extended repair periods and income loss from recurring defects. Vehicle no longer in owner's possession. My vehicle is currently subject to an open Ford transmission safety recall for which no repair remedy is available at this time. The vehicle is experiencing a recurring and dangerous failure while driving. Approximately twice per day, during my normal commute, all vehicle electronics suddenly shut off while the vehicle is in motion. At the same time, the wheels appear to lock up, causing a sudden
... loss of vehicle control and creating a significant crash risk. When the failure occurs, I am forced to immediately shift the transmission into neutral while the vehicle is still moving. After approximately 5 to 10 seconds, I can shift back into drive and continue operating the vehicle. However, vehicle electronics often remain inoperative for the remainder of the trip. This condition is occurring repeatedly and has become more frequent. The issue currently occurs approximately once during my drive to work and once during my drive home. My commute is approximately 20 minutes each way. The vehicle has not yet been involved in a crash, but I believe a crash is likely if this condition continues. The sudden loss of power, loss of electronics, and wheel lockup while driving creates an immediate safety hazard to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. I am submitting this complaint because the vehicle is subject to an active safety recall, the condition appears related to the recall, and no repair remedy is currently available. While driving on the freeway at approx 65mph, the car suddenly starting de-celerating and forced me to pull over to emergency shoulder/lane and try to determine the cause. The car is a "Hybrid" and the dashboard stated to put car in Park and Idle the Engine over 2000rpm to charge up the Battery. ... e Idling the Engine for 15 minutes and slowly proceeded to get off the freeway and limped the car back to my home. I then called my selling Hyundai Dealer, as the car was still in warranty, and told them of my sudden problem and asking them what could it be??? They said they did not know until they saw the car and tested it with their computer equipment...please have it towed into their shop. So i did and 2 days later they called to say..NO Computer Codes showed any problem. They could not duplicate problem. I said ..."look on the internet...many people have reported sudden lack of power and limp mode activation....all pointing to the High Pressure GDI Fuel Pump Assy failure". Dealer said ..Oh..thanks we will look into that. 5 hours later Dealer called and said I was right, we replaced the Fuel Pump and come pick up the car. 4 months later and 6,000 miles later car is performing normally. I felt compelled to come forward to discuss this part failure as this incident on the freeway could have turned into a tragedy. Thank youRead more

The vehicle was noticeably chugging when going uphill. After awhile, some warning messages appeared on dashboard— several different messages. The vehicle finally had a complete loss of power as wife and I were returning from a road trip several miles away from home. We took it to a garage where we were at the time and was able to get home. We took it to a nearby mechanic for a diagnostic. W
... e were told that the system was detecting a pinging in the engine. The mechanic said that it is sometimes animals can nibble on electrical and may need a harness replacement. We chose to take the vehicle to Shottenkirk Honda in Huntsville , Alabama for repair. They kept the vehicle for longer than they annticipated and told us that they would have to get a technician from Carrollton, Georgia to look at it. They contacted us over a week later and told us it was the fuel pump. They fixed the pump and the vehicle seemed fine. That was October, 2025. Now, the vehicle is again displaying a chugging when going uphill. I have not carried it for diagnostics yet. I have no issue with the service I received at the dealership. But, on GoodCar VIN check, my vin# returns recalls related to fuel pump and engine loss of power and pinging. I called the dealership and American Honda and was told that no recalls exist for this vehicle. I am submitting this in case there is a pattern of problems for vehicles in my group. I have owned Hondas my whole life and have not had engine troubles until now. I am at 170kmiles. My Honda Odyssey and other Pilot were not and have not had this difficulty. Year/Make/Model: 2018 Kia Niro Hybrid Mileage at time of incident: approximately 69,000 Component: Hybrid Propulsion System / Powertrain My 2018 Kia Niro Hybrid has experienced five recurring "Hybrid System Failure — Turn Off Engine" errors occurring without warning while the vehicle was being operated. Each occurrence rendered the gas engine ineffective in moving the vehicle, creating an imme

The vehicle has been brought to the dealership four times for this issue — February 25, May 4, May 15, and May 30, 2025. On May 30 the dealer performed a repair they stated would resolve the problem. The vehicle was returned the same day. On May 31, one day later, the error occurred again. The defect remains unresolved after four service visits. Out-of-pocket towing and rental car costs have been incurred each time. I believe this defect is related to the hydraulic clutch actuator issue covered under Kia recall SC276 and the active class action lawsuit (FeganScott v. Kia/Hyundai). I was driving my car would not accelerate on the highway and it almost caused me to get into an accident with my niece in the car. When I took the car to Audi this is what I was told my the service adviser. “Good afternoon. The technician has been looking into the vehicle and has found the cause of the issue. He has found the coolant water pump has failed internally causing coolant to leak inter
... nally into the vacuum system. This is causing the vacuum to be blocked for the turbo and thus causing the sluggish feeling when accelerating. In order to fix, the water pump and all compromised vacuum system components need to be replaced. It is a rather extensive job unfortunately.” My car only has a little over 45 thousand miles. Audi should be responsible to fix this problem because they sold this car knowing the water was faulty in these models. I recall should have been put out. I have a 2018 Ford Edge supposedly bought "brand new" was advertised "brand new" but later find out it wasn't because dealership had titled it to themselves as a loaner. A few weeks ago my check engine light came on and my husband had it checked and was a cylinder 2 fault code. He took it to our local mechanic and he said he looked with scope and saw coolant in the cylinder. My car now sits at th
... e Ford Dealership in Albemarle and has been diagnosed with the coolant intrusion issue and I have to pay for a engine. My calls to Ford were useless, they refused to help even though this issue was well known to them and I was never informed or I would have traded this vehicle in a long time ago. The service rep at the dealership said I was looking at about $7400 out the door plus an issue with "fluid leaking" on both front wheels, which is another $1000. She also said she would advocate on my behalf with Ford to see if they will cover any of this $$$ repair. We are waiting to find out their response. I have a line of credit set up to pay for this but really can't afford to put money into this lemon. I am disappointed in Ford as a Ford Mustang was my first car and my husband and I have bought several brand new and used vehicles over the years. We were life long Ford people but Ford doesn't stand behind well known (to them) defective engines so we are no longer. My choices are 1) pay $8500 to have the repairs fixed, 2) Ford assisting me with paying for the engine replacement 4) Selling/trading my vehicle to avoid the expensive repair and only getting between $2000 and 3000. Either way (unless Ford helps me) I am out around $7400-$8500! Most of all I feel like I've been driving around blind to the fact that a fire could have resulted. I frequently have my grandchildren in my car and it could have been devastating. Or my engine could have blown in the middle of heavy traffic putting us at risk of collision and the task of somehow getting it out of the road safely.Read more

I am formally reporting a catastrophic engine failure involving the 1.5L turbocharged engine in the current-generation Honda Accord. As a professional high-mileage driver, I am exposing a severe design defect that poses immediate safety risks. While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly exhibited severe engine shuddering, a sudden loss of acceleration, and a dashboard overheating warning.
... A certified Honda dealership inspection revealed a severe head gasket failure, confirming that engine coolant is actively leaking into cylinders 1 and 3, causing critical engine misfires. This is an inherent manufacturing defect, not normal wear. The engine runs under extremely high thermal pressures, and the factory head bolts fail to maintain a proper seal, allowing coolant to breach the combustion chamber. The safety implications are critical. A sudden loss of power and engine stalling at highway speeds forces drivers into high-risk emergency situations, drastically increasing the likelihood of collisions. Furthermore, the constant loss of coolant leads to sudden engine overheating, creating a severe fire hazard. This exact issue plagued the previous 10th-generation Accord, and it is now clear that Honda failed to implement a permanent engineering fix for the current generation. Representatives from Honda Corporate have explicitly acknowledged to me that a manufacturer recall for this exact engine defect is currently under internal consideration. Because high-mileage vehicles reach the structural threshold of this component much faster than the average consumer, this case represents an early warning sign of a widespread, recurring failure. NHTSA must initiate an immediate safety defect investigation into the current Honda 1.5T engine powertrain to prevent catastrophic highway accidents and protect the public.Read more

I am filing this complaint to report a recurring, life-threatening safety defect in my 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid involving the battery and hybrid propulsion system. This defect has occurred twice, and despite dealer repair attempts, it has not been resolved. On both occasions, while the vehicle was in operation, the hybrid system failed without warning. The vehicle displayed a hybrid system failure
... alert, lost the ability to accelerate normally, and became unable to maintain safe driving speeds. On the most recent occurrence, the sudden and unexpected loss of vehicle power created an immediate risk of collision. The vehicle’s failure while in traffic nearly resulted in a serious crash. I was driving with passengers at the time. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Kia dealership for repair following each incident. The same defect has now recurred after the first repair was completed, demonstrating that the underlying cause has not been identified or corrected. This defect substantially impairs the safety of the vehicle. The sudden loss of hybrid system function and propulsion while driving at road speed creates a direct and serious risk of accident, injury, or death to the vehicle’s occupants and to other drivers on the road. I am a [XXX] resident and am aware that this defect is not isolated to my vehicle. Numerous other 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid owners have filed similar NHTSA complaints regarding battery failure and sudden loss of acceleration. I urge the NHTSA to open a formal investigation into this defect and to require Kia Motors America to issue a safety recall. I am currently too frightened to operate this vehicle and request urgent attention to this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT SUPPORTING STATEMENT Vehicle: 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML350 I am submitting this complaint regarding a continuing safety concern involving water intrusion and electronic system damage in my 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML350. My vehicle was subject to a Mercedes-Benz recall involving water intrusion and related components. Despite recall-related repairs being performed, moisture
... and water intrusion concerns remain unresolved. During the diagnostic process, Mercedes-Benz personnel identified evidence of water and humidity in areas associated with vehicle electronics and control modules. The vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical and electronic issues following discovery of the water intrusion condition. Multiple repair facilities have been involved, and I have incurred significant diagnostic and repair expenses while attempting to determine the full extent of the damage. The primary concern is not ordinary wear and tear. The concern is that water intrusion has affected vehicle systems and that the recall remedy has not resulted in a complete resolution of the condition. I am concerned that moisture exposure may continue to impact vehicle electronics, control modules, sensors, and other safety-related systems. Mercedes-Benz USA has been notified and a case has been opened. The dealership has also been involved. However, despite escalation requests and requests for management review, I have not received a meaningful resolution. The dealership continues directing me back to Mercedes-Benz USA while Mercedes-Benz USA has not provided a final management response. Vehicle Information: 2024 Toyota Tundra 4x4, VIN: [XXX] livery: [XXX] Current Mileage: 24,147 Complaint Synopsis: My 2024 Toyota Tundra is subject to two active open safety recalls with no remedy available ("NO FIX YET" status per Toyota owner portal). 1. What component(s) or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Primary: Engine assembly (Recall 25TB14 /
... 25TA14) – machining debris left in the engine during manufacturing. This can cause engine knocking, rough running, no-start, and sudden loss of motive power. Secondary: Reverse lamp system (Recall 25TB06 / 25TA06) – moisture intrusion causing both reverse lamps to become inoperable. The vehicle remains available for immediate inspection at Clearwater Toyota or by Toyota representatives. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The engine defect creates a severe risk of sudden loss of motive power while driving at highway speeds, which can cause loss of vehicle control and increase the likelihood of a crash. The reverse lamp defect eliminates rear visibility and brake indication when backing up in low-light conditions, significantly increasing the risk of collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The defects are formally admitted by Toyota through active NHTSA safety recalls. Clearwater Toyota has refused multiple requests for inspection and service documentation. No independent inspection has been performed due to Toyota’s refusal to schedule one. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Toyota has not conducted a physical inspection of my vehicle despite repeated requests. Clearwater Toyota provided a temporary loaner vehicle but has refused to inspect or document the recalled conditions. He advised us that Hyundai/Kia was having problems burning oil. This is a high risk and safety concerns since there was no warning, happened suddenly and could cause problems for people to find a safe place to pull off the roadway and interstate. So many things can happen if someone didn't hear the noise or have lights indicating a problem, therefor if this happened on the interstate people could struggle getting to the shoulder when engine locks up. The engine in my truck failed while driving down the interstate highway (I-10) on May 28, 2026. At the time of failure, a loud popping noise emitted from the engine. Power and speed were reduced as the result of the failure. The Check Engine Light and Service Engine lights illuminated as quickly as the failure occurred. As many vehicles were simultaneously traveling along the highway at speed,
... my vehicle suddenly slowing down without indication (brake lights) could have inadvertently caused an accident. As a result, I continued driving the vehicle under reduced power to my home which was only approximately 2 miles away. During the 2-mile drive to my home, the loud popping noise intermitted but reduced power was consistent. Diagnostic checks revealed a code P0305 indicating that cylinder #5 was misfiring. Checking the components of that cylinder revealed the intake valve of cylinder #5 was not actuating when the engine was running indicating a failed lifter & camshaft.Read more

Why is KIA still legally allowed to sell defective, death traps? Why is it ok for the service department and KIA themselves to tell me….its ok to drive unless the engine light is blinking, smoking in a car know to catch fire…..ok? While driving approximately 45 MPH, I slowed to make a right turn into a parking lot. The engine suddenly stalled and lost all propulsion. The vehicle retained electrical power but automatically shifted into NEUTRAL, and would not shift back into DRIVE. I braked to a stop, temporarily stranding the vehicle and blocking traffic in the parking area. Attempting to turn the vehicle off via the START/S

When coming to a rolling or quick stop and then attempting to maneuver across traffic, my truck hesitates for about a full second before accelerating. This delay can create a dangerous situation for myself, other drivers, and pedestrians. I believe this is a safety issue that Toyota needs to address promptly.

... ay years ago. No big deal apparently. The conclusion gets it wrong of course. Part of the ruling claiming no safety risk is based on implying the car starts back right after engine loss and that's simply not true. Twice mine wouldn't start back after the incident, not immediately not within 30 minutes. Only once did it fail, then restart after. I've read through the hundreds of similar complaints and many are stranded after it happens as well. But there's definitely one thing in common EVERYONE'S DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT HAPPENS. This is a severely dangerous issue, putting peoples lives at risk. This is 100% on the manufacturer to bring to light and shamefully haven't. This started last summer for me and I didn't post about it but seeing brand new report still being added irks me. It didn't happen over the winter. And no it wasn't the alternator, battery, fuses, radiator, or injector.. I (understandably) heard it all and tried it all. Honestly I let it sit for a while and it stopped. The issue is unpredictable and undetectable by mechanics. Not sure what else you need.Read more

On [XXX], I was going to Atlanta, the truck started hesitating harshly while I was passing another driver on a two lane road. The truck wouldn’t accelerate and the paddle seemed to be stuck, I had to pull off the road to avoid a head on collision. On the 30th of May, I took the truck to Allen Turner in Pensacola, Florida where I purchased it and reported the issue, the service department was clo
... sed and they sent me next door to a Chevrolet Dealership, which was also closed. On today [XXX], I took the truck out for a test drive, and I had the same incident happen, but this time I pulled into a gas station and shutdown the truck. Once I turned the truck back on, the check engine light came on. I didn’t think I would make it back home, because the truck didn’t accelerate correctly, and when I pressed the gas pedal it didn’t accelerate and was making different noises. The pedal seemed to be stuck, with no acceleration. I recorded a little bit with my phone while trying to drive, but it’s not the best.
