My vehicle has suffered catastrophic electrical failure due to water intrusion directly into the rear cargo compartment. This water ingress has destroyed vital electronic control modules that were designed and placed in low-lying, unsealed body cavities—an engineering layout heavily documented as a design vulnerability in the E70 chassis. My safety was put at risk as this happened on the highw
... ay and threw my SUV into limp mode. I could not drive the speed limit on the highway and had to drive home with my hazard lights on while cars drove around me and almost collided with me on the highway. BMW has previously acknowledged the severe liabilities of placing sensitive electronics near drainage paths, as seen in the Catalano v. BMW of North America litigation. This is not a wear-and-tear issue; it is a design failure that leaves critical safety components swimming in water during normal rain events.Read more

My 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 (Performance Calligraphy AWD), leased new in late April 2026 from Team Hyundai of Bend, OR, suffered an Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure at approximately 1500 miles in late June 2026, roughly two months into ownership. The failure progressed over several days. First, at a ChargePoint Level 2 (AC) station, the vehicle repeatedly displayed "charging started" e
... very few minutes in a continuous start/stop/retry loop. Within days, AC charging failed completely: the vehicle reported "charging unsuccessful" on two separate EVSEs (a hardwired Level 2 charger and the Hyundai portable charger) across two different circuits. DC fast charging still worked. No other dashboard warnings were displayed. The dealer diagnosed a failed ICCU and replaced the unit. The vehicle was out of service for approximately 2 days thanks to the dealership's great service team. Luckily we were not out on a road trip which we have planned in the next 2 weeks which would have left us stranded with a newborn. This is a documented, ongoing safety defect across Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis E-GMP vehicles. ICCU failure can cause the 12-volt battery to stop charging, leading to reduced power or sudden loss of motive power while driving, which creates a crash risk. NHTSA previously opened an Office of Defects Investigation into this issue, and Hyundai issued recalls 24V204 and 24V868 to address it. What makes this report significant: the 2026 Ioniq 9 uses the second-generation ICCU that Hyundai represents as containing the corrective hardware changes. My failure occurred on this redesigned part, on a vehicle barely two months old, which indicates the underlying defect has not been resolved in current-production vehicles. This is the family's primary vehicle and we have a newborn at home, so the loss of use was a significant hardship. I am filing so this second-generation ICCU failure is on the record and counts toward any future investigation or recall action.Read more

When I put the vehicle in park, the dash warning says it is not in park or shift to park. The components continue to work. I have taken it to the dealership and according to the service manger, this is a very common occurrence in these trucks. This seems to me that it would be a very serious safety issue if one assumes their vehicle is in park and it is actually not. The shift to park warning is
... a safety warning to alert the driver it is not in park so the vehicle doesn’t roll off and hit someone (especially a child playing in the driveway). Assuming that alert is just a malfunction could get someone killed. I did notice that this was considered a safety recall for some models of GMC vehicles but not others. I’m not sure why there hasn’t been a recall on these trucks when the service manager specifically said they are having this issue on a lot of trucks.Read more

I am reporting a severe, systemic, and undiagnosed electrical defect that compromises vehicle safety and control. The manufacturer’s authorized repair facilities and corporate Technical Assistance Center (TAC) have explicitly documented that their factory test plans are "inconclusive" and they cannot isolate the root cause of the failures. The primary symptom is the catastrophic failure of the c
... limate control/defrost system, which intermittently stops cooling and blows hot/ambient air. Dealerships have repeatedly replaced the physical AC head unit (E87), replaced high-pressure switches, and performed battery capacity discharges to clear persistent diagnostic trouble codes (DTC B131207 and B10AE22). Because these hardware replacements fail to fix the issue and the system continues to drop out, the defect lies deeper within the vehicle's central electrical architecture or wiring harness. Additionally, the vehicle has exhibited erratic, un-commanded behavior. After parking, turning off the vehicle, and walking away, the vehicle spontaneously started running on its own without any input. The dealership was unable to find stored codes for this event, indicating the vehicle’s diagnostic system is failing to log critical electrical malfunctions.A vehicle that spontaneously starts itself poses an extreme risk of carbon monoxide poisoning in residential garages, as well as a runaway or theft hazard if a deeper electrical short commands the transmission to engage while unattended. The manufacturer has exhausted its standard Technical Service Bulletins (TSB 2078655/3) and multiple corporate TAC cases (#3667725 and #3686882), ultimately releasing the car back to me each time. I am at a loss for what to do because this car is dangerous, they don't know what is wrong with it, and I am being forced to drive it.Read more

This winter a crack in the seal opened up on the driver's side wheel well. We were not aware of the crack. We noticed that the car was collecting water in the carpets down on the floor board. So, my son stopped driving the car for a couple of months. So, I bought the car from my son. He got a different car. I tried to start the car last Sunday at 3pm in the afternoon. Flames started down on the carpet directly below the pedals. Black, dark smoke billowed out from below the steering column. I ran into my kitchen to put out the flames. The battery is damaged too. While driving my vehicle (2019 Ford F150), it suddenly came to a complete stop. The engine shut off and the steering wheel locked up. At that point, it was running again and I was able to safely get it to a dealership where it was inspected for an issues. There were no warnings, alerts or messag

This is not the first time I have heard of this happening and after researching, it appears it is more common than not. The vehicle is at A&L Motors in Monroeville Pa. The vehicle has suffered a catastrophic, cascading electrical failure caused by a known manufacturing defect in the roof antenna seal. Rainwater entered the vehicle through the defective shark fin antenna seal and flooded the Telematics Control Unit(TCU). Because the TCU communicates directly with the main iDrive head unit via the vehicle's MOST/bus
... central data network, the water-damaged TCU short-circuited and flooded the network with corrupt electrical data, hard-bricking the iDrive system. A dealership engineer confirmed that water did not physically touch the head unit, eliminating user-error fluid spills. This cascading electrical failure has completely disabled vital safety systems, including the backup camera, forward collision driver-assist radar warnings, blind-spot monitoring alerts, and critical dashboard diagnostic notifications, creating an immediate highway safety hazard. Simultaneously, the active grille shutters (active air flaps) failed due to a defective internal actuator motor, creating a severe risk of sudden engine overheating and thermal shutdown. This component is under a 150K mile manufacturer warranty extension(SIB01 12 19 and later sib01 03 25). BMW of North America Claims Manager Joe 1-800-831-1117Ext1427 has issued an arbitrary final denial for these repairs based on a hearsay rock wedged/strike despite no apparent physical damage and zero photographic evidence. BMW is actively evading its extended warranty obligations for the air dam and a pending class-action settlement framework (Craft v. BMW NA) on the IDrive components. Additionally, this vehicle is actively subject to the critical BMW Starter Motor Overheating Fire Risk Recall NHTSA Campaign No.25V644/26V056. I was driving eastbound in my 2012 Kia Sportage on I-82 just past Benton City MP97 at about 11AM on Monday June 22, 2026, when my engine knocked twice, the red check engine light came on, and I lost power. I pulled over off the road next to a concrete barrier that was beside a rock roadcut. My flashers would not operate, I put it into park, turned off the ignition and immediately noticed the smell
... of burning oil or rubber. I had 2 half gallon containers of water on my front seat, so I popped the switch, lifted the hood, used the prop rod to hold the hood up as I started dowsing the flames that were popping up on the passenger side of my engine compartment near the firewall. After using both half gallons, I ran to the rear of the vehicle, opened the hatchback, and grabbed a gallon spray bottle of water and brought that back around to the front of the vehicle. By this point the prop rod holding the hood was bending and the flames were popping back up, I pumped the sprayer and directed a stream of water with my left hand and used my right to hold up the hood as the prop rod was not working. After the fire was completely out, I returned to the rear of the vehicle, donned my reflective vest, put a portable flasher on my vehicle, and at this point a Benton County fireman in a pickup arrived - he was called by a motorist that saw me pulling over with smoke trailing my vehicle. The fireman was followed by a large firetruck and crew. They propped up the hood with a bar and inspected the motor to verify the fire was completely extinguished. They took my information and left. A Washington State Patrol arrived, assessed the scene and offered assistance, but I already had called my wife so he left me to wait for her. He told me I had 24 hours to get the car off the interstate. I had the car towed to my driveway by A&E towing at about 2:30PM. I just realized this morning that I ought to report it to you. While driving at highway speed, my 2025 GMC Sierra suddenly began slowing down without warning and lost propulsion. When I pressed the accelerator, there was no acceleration response. The vehicle felt like it was braking or dragging instead of accelerating, creating a serious crash risk in traffic. A warning message appeared instructing me to “Put in neutral and restart truck.” I followed the
... instruction, but the vehicle would not restart. It sounded like it was attempting to start, but it would not start normally. A “Service ESC” warning also appeared. The vehicle was towed by AAA to a GMC dealership and remains available for inspection. The dealership provided a diagnostic trouble code report showing active codes: C2A07 Engine Control Module Indicated Torque Signal Malfunction; U0101 Lost Communication with Transmission Control Module; U0131 Lost Communication with Power Steering Control Module; U0140 Lost Communication with Body Control Module; U0146 Lost Communication with Central Gateway Module; U160F Lost Communication with Brake System Control Module 1 on CAN Bus 1; U1611 Lost Communication with Engine Control Module on CAN Bus 2; and U3003 Battery Voltage Circuit Voltage Below Threshold. The vehicle had approximately 22,000 miles at the time of the incident. The failure has not been repaired at the time of this complaint. The concern appears to involve a safety-related electrical, propulsion, powertrain, ESC/brake, and module communication failure that caused sudden loss of propulsion, no acceleration response, warning messages, and a no-start condition.Read more

While driving my 2021 Audi e-tron Sportback Prestige, the high-voltage battery warning light illuminated on the dashboard. At the same time, regenerative braking stopped functioning, resulting in reduced energy recovery and a noticeable decrease in driving range. Before taking the vehicle to an Audi dealership, I had the diagnostic trouble codes read by an independent repair shop. The technician
... advised me to take the vehicle to Audi because the diagnostic information reportedly indicated a potential high-voltage battery thermal runaway condition. I took the vehicle to an authorized Audi dealership. The dealer cleared the fault codes and returned the vehicle to me without replacing any high-voltage battery components or performing repairs. I was not advised that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. A few weeks later, the high-voltage battery warning light returned. I brought the vehicle back to the dealership, where I was informed that a high-voltage battery module had failed. The dealer has now recommended replacing the battery module at an estimated cost of approximately $12,000. I am concerned that the vehicle was returned to me after a reported high-voltage battery fault was simply cleared rather than repaired. I am also concerned that replacing only a single battery module may not address the underlying issue. Additionally, I am aware of high-voltage battery recalls involving other Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen electric vehicles, and I believe this failure should be evaluated to determine whether it represents a similar safety defect. This issue presents a significant safety concern because it involves the high-voltage battery system, loss of regenerative braking, reduced vehicle range, and a reported battery thermal-related fault. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this is a broader safety issue affecting 2021 Audi e-tron Sportback vehicles.Read more

My 2025 Honda Odyssey has experienced an intermittent failure of the Auto Idle Stop system on four separate occasions. I have had to repeatedly press or hold the START button before the vehicle eventually restarts. During these events, the vehicle is completely disabled in active traffic and cannot be driven until it restarts. This has occurred four times, including while stopped at busy multi-lane intersections. The vehicle remained stationary after the traffic signal turned green while surrounding traffic expected it to move. This created a safety hazard because the vehicle unexpectedly became immobilized in an active traffic lane. I took the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership. The service advisor acknowledged they are aware of similar complaints from other 2025 Odyssey owners but indicated Honda has not provided a definitive repair or service procedure. A diagnostic appointment has been scheduled. I have also found numerous reports from other 2025 Honda Odyssey owners describing the same Auto Idle Stop failure. In many of those cases, dealerships ultimately replaced the starter under warranty after diagnosis. The consistency of these reports suggests this may not be an isolated incident. I am submitting this complaint because this is a safety issue. A vehicle that unexpectedly cannot move when traffic begins to flow creates a risk of a rear-end or other collision.Read more

Dealer Confirmation: I have visited an authorized Honda dealership twice regarding this recall — once upon receiving the recall notification in November 2025, and again in January 2026 during a scheduled oil change. On both occasions, the dealer confirmed the recall was on file for my vehicle but stated they did not have the software or equipment available to perform the remedy. The repair has not been completed as of the date of this complaint, June 26, 2026 — more than seven months after the recall was issued. Inspections by Other Parties: The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other outside parties in connection with this issue. Warning Lamps or Prior Symptoms: No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared prior to or during the acceleration failure incident. The recall defect relates to an internal software condition that does not appear to trigger a visible warning before the power loss occurs. The highway incident described above is the only symptom I have personally observed that may be connected to this defect.Read more

Sheehy Toyota of Laurel sold me a vehicle that was on a stop sale for a serious defect recall. The dealership sold the car to me the same day the stop sale was lifted WITHOUT addressing the recall, and lied about them fixing it before it was purchased.

Since the 68C recall from Jeep, my vehicle has not been functioning properly. The 68C recall was issued because the high-voltage battery cells have a defect that causes them to short-circuit and catch fire. To avoid replacing hundreds of thousands of expensive batteries all at once, Jeep implemented a "fix" via a software flash. The new software "fix" heavily restricts how much power can be drawn
... from the high-voltage battery to keep it from getting warm. If you push the pedal enough to draw more than roughly 40–50% power—or if the battery temperature hits a strictly lowered threshold—the software abruptly chokes the electric motor and fires up the ICE engine to compensate. Because the electric motor just lost its punch, the computer frantically fires up the gasoline engine to make up the difference. Because there is an inherent delay while the gas engine starts up and matches the transmission speed, it engages with a sudden, frustrating lurch or surge. This is just one of the many problems i have found since jeeps "fix" has been implemented. Basically Jeep elected to reduce the capacity of the battery to avoid costly replacement of the real issue with the battery. This has resulted in a driving safety concern with the surging and hesitation. Also now I can no longer drive exclusively in the electric mode; electric mode is basically non-existent.Read more

I have a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug in hybrid. When I first got the vehicle I could drive in the electric mode without kicking over to the gasoline mode. The manufacturer issued a recall for the battery due to fire danger. I had an update 68c performed by the dealer to address the recall issue. Upon getting my Jeep back I can no longer drive in the electric mode without the Jeep surging into and
... out of the gas mode. This happens at different times, slow speeds or fast speeds. The jeep does hesitate or bogs down prior to engaging the gas mode. After takinThe 68C recall was issued because the high-voltage battery cells have a defect (separator damage) that causes them to short-circuit and catch fire. To avoid replacing hundreds of thousands of expensive batteries all at once, Stellantis implemented a "fix" via a software flash. Here is exactly what that software is doing to your driving experience: Aggressive Battery Throttling: The new software heavily restricts how much power can be drawn from the high-voltage battery to keep it from getting warm. If you push the pedal enough to draw more than roughly 40–50% power—or if the battery temperature hits a strictly lowered threshold—the software abruptly chokes the electric motor. The "Bogging" Sensation: When the software chokes the battery, the vehicle experiences a sudden drop in power. This is the hesitation or "bogging down" you feel. The Violent Engine Surge: Because the electric motor just lost its punch, the computer frantically fires up the gasoline engine to make up the difference. Because there is an inherent delay while the gas engine starts up and matches the transmission speed, it engages with a sudden, frustrating lurch or surge. Because this clunky, unrefined behavior was intentionally coded into the 68C update by corporate engineers to limit fire risks, your local dealer's computer diagnostics read "No Errors Found" and "Operating as Designed."Read more

While my wife was driving our 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [XXX] northbound in NY on the way with our children to school, she experienced a loss of steering as the wheel became almost impossible to turn. At the same time, the power steering light came on. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have a problem with parking, the warning comes on,”Shift Into Park” knowing that I’m in park, so it’s not registering. Have to move the shifter a couple of times before it comes off. My check engine light stays on and then comes off a week or two later and then comes back on and no code comes up, so I’ll clear it or let it clear itself.

While driving my 2026 Tesla Model Y in June 2026, the vehicle suddenly applied steering input on its own and began swerving left and right even though there were no obstacles in the road. I was driving on a straight section of roadway, centered in my lane, when the steering wheel started moving by itself as if the lane keeping system and steering were confused. I had to fight the wheel in both dir
... ections to keep the car from veering toward the curb and toward the adjacent lane. It felt like struggling against another person at the wheel. Fortunately there were no vehicles directly beside me at that moment, so I was able to avoid a collision, but this behavior could easily cause an accident for a typical driver. This incident is part of an ongoing pattern of safety issues with this vehicle. Since late 2025, I have experienced multiple events where the car fails to respond to the accelerator after shifting into Drive and behaves as if it is in neutral until I shift back to Park and then into Drive again including a complete loss of propulsion while driving in moderate traffic. Tesla has already performed recall repairs on the battery/battery contactors and multiple diagnostic visits for intermittent loss of propulsion and steering concerns, but the problems continue. I am filing this complaint because I believe there is a serious defect involving the steering, propulsion system, and lane keeping driver assist systems that could cause loss of control and a crash.Read more

ABS Module failure. Replaced ABS module with brand new Mopar replacement. ABS module still will not communicate with system. No traction control, cruise control, multiple lights in dash.
Incident date: Jun 17, 2026
There are 13 alerts showing on the instrument panel for various systems not functioning, along with accompanying yellow dash lights such as tire pressure, ABS, brake system, traction control, ACC, and LKAS. Systems not available include, ABS system, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High-Beam, TPMS, Electric Power Steering, plus several others. These alerts first started Jan
... uary 2026 and occasionally would disappear; however, over the past few months the warnings have become constant. The vehicle has approx. 120,000 miles. Due to TPMS not functioning, I am not given a warning when a tire has gone flat/blown while driving as the tire pressure light is always on the dash. The only warning I am provided is the sound/smell of the rim dragging along the road to notify me the tire is flat. This poses a risk to myself and others by creating an emergent situation requiring me to pull over rapidly. Another incident occurred when ACC was enabled (at a time when the alerts had been appearing on and off). Cruise control set at 70 mph when suddenly the above mentioned alerts reappeared and ACC system became unavailable, leading to unexpected deceleration on the highway. This poses a risk to myself and others as it creates unpredictable driving patterns, unbeknownst to the driver. Initially I replaced the battery with no resolution of the issue. I later discovered maintenance code displayed by the vehicle was C003A-62 for Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Failure (circuit short to ground or open). The mechanic recommended replacing the right wheel hub assembly as this was suspected to be the cause of failed circuit. When that repair lasted no more than 10 mins before the warnings reappeared, the right rear wheel speed sensor itself was then replaced. Similarly, this did not fix the issue. I have not sought additional service due to repair costs beginning to add up with no resolution. Based on the history of reports, this issue does not seem uncommon.Read more

On Monday, the 22nd of June, I returned to my vehicle after work with all windows rolled down, and appeared to have been searched? Nobody was harmed nor was there any property damage. Just visible signs of a security breach and could still be compromised.
