Since I purchased this electric vehicle, phone conversations that I place through the car have been broadcast on the external speaker. I brought this to the dealership, they acknowledged the problem, but told me they couldn't help because they didn't have another EQB to compare it to. They told me to contact Mercedes customer service. I contacted them by email, and I was repeatedly told (incorrect
... ly) that my vehicle does not have an external speaker. They eventually ignored me. This is both a safety issue and a privacy issue. Broadcasting my phone calls to the public is a massive invasion of privacy. Secondarily, when the external speaker is playing a phone call, I assume it is not playing the required noise intended to warn pedestrians that an EV is approaching. As best as I can tell, this is a MBUX software defect that is causing the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) to malfunction. I need this fixed for both safety and usability, and I have been shocked that Mercedes hasn't done a better job trying to address this problem. Additionally, a couple weeks ago, my entire screen (speedometer, maps, etc) went blank while driving. I believe there was an electric "pop" right as this happened. The screen rebooted and came back after about a minute, but then it happened again on the same drive within a couple minutes. Those are the only two times this has happened, but it was unnerving. I believe other models have been recalled for a nearly identical problem, but my vehicle was not included in the recall.I have not contacted Mercedes about the screen based on the poor response I received after having the phone issue. In summary, this is a safety issue that the Mercedes dealership acknowledged but has not and will not fix. They were able to reproduce the issue, there are no warning messages, and the vehicle is available for inspection. I would appreciate any help I can get in solving the phone problem. I would also love to know if the screen issue requires followup.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety-related failure involving my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. I purchased the vehicle used with approximately 15,000 miles and was informed the previous owners leased it and rarely used it. At approximately 40,000 miles, despite completing all recalls in a timely manner, the vehicle experienced the exact type of hybrid system failure a recall
... was intended to prevent. The issue began when the hybrid system failed and left the vehicle unsafe to operate. Upon startup, only accessory power activated and the engine would not start. A full power cycle was required before the vehicle started. Immediately afterward, warnings appeared including "Service Hybrid System," "Service Charging System," "EAB Unavailable," "Lane Keep Assist Unavailable," "Pedestrian Braking Unavailable," and "Adaptive Cruise Control Unavailable." The check engine light illuminated and all hybrid modes became unavailable. Shifting became erratic and harsh. Downshifts from 2nd to 1st felt like sudden braking and caused me to hit my head on the steering wheel. During acceleration, the transmission slipped and shifted unpredictably. Fuel economy dropped from approximately 22 MPG in E-Save mode to approximately 10 MPG at highway speeds. Diagnostic code P1E1D was retrieved and I was advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive. While driving to the dealership, the vehicle shut down twice while in motion. During both shutdowns, power steering and braking assistance were lost, posing an extreme risk to myself and others while moving the vehicle off a busy three-lane roadway. Dealership diagnostics determined one or both high-voltage battery systems failed and required replacement. Despite completed recalls, the issue still occurred. Parts were backordered over a month. I believe this failure and recall effectiveness warrant investigation due to the serious safety risks created by loss of propulsion, steering, and braking assistance while driving.Read more

After being parked for several days at the airport, the vehicle turned on, but would not start. The instrument cluster had the following message, “Service required do not change transmission position”. I contacted Mercedes road side assistance who cannot access this parking level. They indicated I should push the car out of the lot and have it towed with a flat bed. After a review they had a
... software reset that is available after 40 minutes. They indicated to drive only outside, then to park and have the vehicle towed. If I drove further it could void the warranty. This scenario repeated multiple times over several months, including maybe five weeks in the shop in the first four months. Mercedes ultimately purchased the car back from me. Indicated the car was not fixable. The car is now for sale on the retail lot at the same dealer.Read more

I am writing to formally complain about the ongoing issues with my vehicle, specifically the repeated failure of the air conditioning system and the excessive number of recalls that have caused major inconvenience and lost work time. The air conditioning unit in my vehicle has failed three separate times. Each time, I was told the fan motor needed to be replaced, and the motor has now been replace
... d three times. After each repair, the system works temporarily before failing again. I have now been informed that the issue may actually be electrical in nature, which raises concerns that the original problem was never properly diagnosed or repaired. In addition to the air conditioning problems, my vehicle has been subject to multiple recalls requiring repeated trips for repairs. These ongoing issues have forced me to miss work several times, causing financial hardship, stress, and a loss of confidence in the reliability and safety of my vehicle. At this point, I am requesting the following: A full inspection and proper diagnosis of the electrical system related to the air conditioning failure. A permanent repair solution rather than temporary fixes. Reimbursement or compensation for repeated repair visits, missed work time, and inconvenience caused by these recurring issues. A review of my vehicle’s repair history to determine whether additional corrective action is appropriate. I have made every effort to address these issues through the proper service channels, but the recurring failures continue. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and resolved promptly. Please contact me as soon as possible regarding the next steps to resolve this issue. Sincerely,Read more

I will first start with our problems/concerns. We had experienced a complete lost power in freeway speed (65 mph) when the battery is depleted, that is when the battery bar goes to zero bar instead of 2 bars usually. I attached a photo from the video I took for your reference. This experience was the engine ramp up and not getting any power while driving on freeway, escpecially obvious during uphi
... ll slope. It is a safety hazard where we had to manuver in order avoid traffic since we could not maintain freeway speed. This originally happened around 2022, but we checked with Norm Reeves Honda Cerritos and they told us nothing is wrong and because there was no fault code, nothing they can do. When the Recall service canoaign 24-031 came, we were relieved because we think the problem is going to be fixed. We brought our Honda Clarity to the dealer on 2/3/2025 for the recall and everything was fine (meaning we can drive on HV after our battery is depleted). But around December 2025, my wife experienced the same situation where she couldn’t keep up with the freeway speed after exhausted the electric range of 34 miles. We took it to dealer again on 1/16/2026 and described the situation, dealer came back and said nothing has been found and there were no fault code. After that, the only way that we are trying to do is to avoid the battery to get down to zero miles, but since our battery is only getting 34 miles full charge instead of the 47 miles when it was new (dealer also said this is normal depreciation, I am not sure about that). Again, thank you for helping since losing engine power and speed on freeway is pretty scary and I hope this is enough information for my case. Here are answers to your questions. I purchased my truck from Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA around September of 2019. Approximately 1.5 years after purchasing the vehicle, I began having issues with my infotainment system intermittently resetting itself while I was driving. On or about the end of 2021 (after this had occurred a few time), I brought the truck into the Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, IA, as it seemed to become more frequent
... of an occurrence. The technician told me that this thing happens all the time with the infotainment systems and it was nothing to be concerned about and because it was intermittent, they may not be able to identify the issue unless it was actively occurring and I was told to come back in if it continued to happen. Shortly after, I had moved to [XXX] in April of 2022, I began to have more frequent issues with the infotainment system randomly resetting and eventually it began impacting phone calls, where people would cut in and out or disconnect, beginning to cause even more of a safety and distraction issue. After conducting some of my own research, I learned that I was not the only one that had issues with the infotainment system in the 2019 Colorado and that GM had published several Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) regarding the infotainment system, and there had been a class action lawsuit, [XXX] , et al. v. General Motors LLC, that covers the same issues I am having. On January 29, 2025, after the issue progressively getting worse, I took the truck to Gregg Young Chevrolet in Omaha, NE. After conducting a diagnosis they verbally confirmed there were TSBs regarding radio issues that after contacting the GM service center, GM's response was to replace the radio. This was to be at my own cost however, considering GM confirmed through TSBs there are issues with the infotainment system, coupled with safety concerns around distracted driving, I felt compelled to make this complaint. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2016 BMW 435i. My vehicle experienced a sudden water pump failure while I was driving on the freeway. Without warning, the vehicle immediately entered “limp mode,” causing a sudden and dangerous loss of power in active traffic. This created a serious safety hazard because surrounding vehicles had to quickly avoid my car to prevent a collision. I
... am aware that there is an existing recall and/or known issue involving electric water pump failures on certain BMW vehicles, including similar 2016 BMW models, but my VIN does not qualify for recall coverage despite experiencing the exact same failure and safety-related symptoms. I believe this defect should be investigated further because it creates a substantial risk to driver and public safety when the vehicle suddenly loses power at highway speeds. Additionally, my vehicle has an ongoing issue with the parking collision warning/driver assistance system. The system will randomly trigger collision warnings and emergency alerts even when I am driving safely with no obstacles or vehicles in front of me. These false warnings are distracting and could potentially cause unsafe driver reactions or unnecessary braking events. I request that NHTSA investigate both issues: 1. Sudden electric water pump failure causing immediate limp mode and loss of power while driving. 2. Malfunctioning collision warning system producing false collision alerts without hazards present. These issues present significant safety concerns and appear consistent with known defects affecting similar BMW vehicles. The vehicle is showing persistent electrical and communication fault codes involving the ECM, ABS, and EPS systems, including P16E2, P16E5, P16E7, P16E8, U0401, and U0416. These codes return immediately, which suggests an active fault rather than a temporary low-voltage condition. The issue appears to involve the battery sensor and/or the related communication network between control modules. Bec
... ause the faults involve ABS and EPS communication, the concern is that braking-related or steering-assist systems may not be receiving correct data. This creates a potential safety risk because the vehicle may experience intermittent or unreliable control-module communication, which could affect steering assist, braking-related warnings, or overall drivability. The warning lights and diagnostic codes first appeared before the vehicle was put back into normal use and have continued to remain present. The problem has been reproducible because the codes reappear right away after being cleared. I own a 2012 Volkswagen Passat [VIN [XXX] ] with approximately 1315xx miles. On December 17, 2025, I took the car to Rockwall County Volkswagen for three recalls. The car was running and was driven 9.5 miles to the dealership under its own power. I left the engine running when I left the it with the service advisor. When I returned to retrieve the car the following day, the service advisor inform
... ed me the car would not start. Their explanation shifted within the same conversation — first that someone had shut it off and it would not crank, then that it would crank but would not start. They claimed they had to pushed it into the service bay, replaced the airbag, and "code the computer for the clock-spring." The dealer refused to repair the no-start condition that occurred in their custody. I towed the car home at my own expense - $161. I performed my own diagnostic work using VW scan tools. The vehicle exhibited a textbook immobilizer or component protection rejection pattern: it would crank, start briefly for 1–2 seconds, then shut off, with three instrument cluster chimes and the coolant fan activating. The scan tool could not communicate with all vehicle modules, consistent with a failed module programming. After contacting the dealer's service manager, I towed the car back to the dealership [$64]. The dealer kept it from December 2025 through April 7, 2026 — approximately four months. During this time, they replaced the battery (charging me) and replaced the engine control module with a used unit they sourced and reprogrammed (charging me a total of $804.38). On April 7, 2026, I drove the car home. The vehicle was driven less than 35 miles after pickup before failing again. On April 27, 2026, my daughter — who had just undergone a serious medical procedure — was driving the car home and was stranded on the side of the road in 90+ degree Texas heat when the car suddenly stopped running with no warning or indication of impending failure. The vehicle experienced a sudden steering malfunction involving the electronic steering gear. While backing out of a parking structure, the steering wheel suddenly jerked and locked instead of naturally correcting, resulting in collision with a pillar. There were no warning lights, steering fault messages, or prior symptoms before the incident. Restarting the vehicle did not resolve the issue. Th
... e dealership confirmed the issue and documented “loss of communication with steering gear,” “internal steering gear failure,” and “no signs of damage causing failure.” The steering gear is being replaced under warranty. The failure created a safety risk because steering response suddenly changed without warning. I am concerned the incident could have resulted in a more serious crash had it occurred at higher speed or during active traffic instead of inside a parking structure. Multiple tow attempts through Ford Roadside Assistance reportedly struggled to move the vehicle afterward due to the steering issue. The failed steering gear component is currently being replaced by the dealership.Read more

2021 BMW X5 xDrive45e PHEV, built October 2020 by BMW AG (Germany). In-service Oct 28, 2021. Vehicle intermittently shows "Drivetrain Malfunction — you can continue driving" warning. DME scan reveals 5 fault codes, all for the conventional 12V pinion starter: 21A50A — Pinion starter: timeout occurred several times in succession 21A511 — Pinion starter: timeout 21611A — Pinion starter:
... starting torque could not be built up; high counter torque and/or undervoltage 216119 — Pinion starter: line break in starter control (KL50/KL30) 216115 — Pinion starter: attempt to start with blocked starter detected 21A50A and 216115 are protected memory codes that cannot be cleared by standard OBD-II tools. The main 12V AGM battery was replaced and registered; codes continue to recur. This signature matches the B58 pinion starter defect addressed in NHTSA Recall 24V-576 (Aug 2024) and 25V644 (Nov 2025, physical starter replacement). The vehicle's German manufacture date falls inside the production windows of KBA recalls 15630R, 15632R, and 15633R — all covering X5 G05 for short-circuit and fire risk from starter relay corrosion or inadequate mounting. BMW AG has issued an ADAC advisory not to leave affected vehicles running unattended after starting. BMW NA Customer Relations was contacted. Initial verbal response: U.S. recalls don't apply because the xDrive45e PHEV uses a different starter than non-hybrid B58 vehicles. However, codes 216115 and 216119 only exist on vehicles equipped with a conventional pinion starter — confirming this vehicle has the same component. The subsequent written denial pivoted to warranty expiration without addressing the technical or recall-scope questions. Filing so the field record reflects this defect signature for future U.S. recall scope expansion analysis.Read more

My 2025 Toyota Tundra’s air conditioning is not cooling properly. The A/C does not perform as expected, especially in hot weather. I am concerned this may be a defect in the HVAC/climate control system. I am also concerned about driver safety because poor A/C performance in extreme heat can affect the driver and passengers, and HVAC issues may also affect proper window defogging/defrosting. I am

Recently, my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe was affected by the 68C Fire Safety recall where the Jeep was stuck at the dealership for battery replacement for 6 weeks. The dealership didn't have a loaner vehicle to offer during the time of the Safety recall. I was asked to contact the Jeep customer care about securing a rental vehicle during the time. I got this email from Stellantis before I started th
... e rental: " Thank you again for speaking with me today. As a follow-up to our call, your rental reimbursement has been approved. You may rent through a licensed and legitimate company—such as Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, or Budget—at a daily rate of $60 per day, based on the local rates in your area. Sales tax is included in this amount. Please note that optional services—including insurance, fuel, tolls, GPS, tips, and underage driver fees—are not reimbursable through Jeep Customer Care. Rental reimbursement applies only to warranty-related repairs and covers the time your vehicle is at the dealership, unless special arrangements have been approved. To process your reimbursement, please reply to this email with the following documents: Once we receive these documents, we’ll begin processing your reimbursement right away. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out—I’m happy to help. " Jeep is now refusing the reimburse the non-optional charges saying that they only reimburse Time and Mileage and Taxes. Here are the required charges that Jeep is refusing to reimburse (Total of $337.71): Road Safety Fee (Colorado Mandatory): $229.62 (Total for both periods) Avis Mandatory Fees (FTP SR, License Recoup, Energy): $96.09 Extension Fee (Due to Repair Duration): $12.00 I spoke with the Customer Care multiple times that these are mandatory fees and as per their original email to me, they are supposed to only exclude optional fees from reimbursement. They are saying that Corporate policy is inconsistent with that email and they are unable to reimburse.Read more

I began to notice some occasional loss of the steering with violent shakes - the death wobble - and once in the rain down a street with potholes which seemed to agitate the car further. I made an appointment to get the car checked and took it into the dealership. At that time, the tech mentioned that there was a recall out - which I had seen in the mail before - and asked if I wanted to get the
... update - I said yes. I believe the “Check Engine” was also blinking at that time so I also asked them to check that. After that, the vehicle was in the shop for 2 weeks without a clear diagnosis before the tech reached out and told me the car was “inoperable”. After communicating with the engineers and getting support from management, the car was still inoperable for over 2 months. At that point the tech asked me to contact Chrysler to file a claim to help him make sure it kept moving. (Please note that I found this bizarre and I hope any reasonable person in a similar situation would as well. 😨) A few days later, they told me the car was ready for me to pick up! I do not have a technical background and do not fully understand the issue, but the tech told me there was an issue with the vehicle sensor software which clashed with the recall and caused the vehicle to stop responding. As a fix, they uninstalled the sensor software and then reinstalled it after the recall update. Any future software update may cause the vehicle to crash and considering there is a third recall on this issue so far with out a proper fix, it is highly probably that there will be subsequent recalls/updates which will crash the car. At that time, I will have no recourse.Read more
