Nissan has reported than some cars could abruptly catch fire while DC fast charging due to excessive lithium deposits within the battery cells. In certain circumstances, those excess deposits could create additional electrical resistance while fast charging, overheating the battery pack and causing a fire. I am submitting this complaint regarding a confirmed safety-related defect and manufacturer nonresponse involving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe, VIN [XXX] . The failed component is the high-voltage hybrid battery system. The vehicle and battery pack are currently located at an authorized Jeep dealership and are available for inspection. The vehicle was delivered to the dealership on December
... 29, 2025 for recall-related service. On December 30, 2025, the dealership confirmed a high-voltage battery failure. A STAR case was opened and escalated to Stellantis engineering. The vehicle was immediately removed from service and has remained unusable since that date. Prior to removal from service, the vehicle experienced repeated loss of propulsion, Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable messages, and driveline warnings during normal operation. These symptoms were reported over multiple service visits and documented by video. The vehicle was repeatedly returned to service with repair notes stating “could not replicate” and assurances that it was safe to operate, park indoors, and charge. Those assurances were later contradicted by the confirmed battery failure and recall-related safety restrictions, exposing my family and home to avoidable safety risk. The vehicle is subject to Recall Campaign 68C. Despite confirmation of a safety-related battery failure, Stellantis has not provided a written remediation plan, assigned a decision owner, or communicated a resolution timeline. The dealership has confirmed that further action is blocked pending manufacturer authorization. Stellantis initiated corporate contact by phone on January 27 and January 29, 2026. I responded in writing and by voicemail requesting written follow-up and confirmation of ownership. Stellantis did not respond in writing and did not return my voicemail. I am concerned that a like-for-like high-voltage battery replacement does not adequately remedy the safety defect or restore confidence in INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIORead more

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning
... (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. The high-voltage battery in my two leased Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles are subject to NHTSA recall 26V030 (VW campaign 93EA, Jan 2026) for potential overheating and fire risk due to missing Self-Discharge Detection (SDD) software updates. This can cause thermal propagation even when parked. No failure or fire has happened in my vehicles yet; the battery remains available for inspection. However we do
... have warning lights, messages, range loss, and other electrical symptoms that have appeared before the recall notice. The defect creates a serious safety risk for my family. Both vehicles normally charge indoors in the garage directly under my toddler's bedroom. A fire during charging could endanger my young child and home. Recall guidance requires parking outdoors, no indoor/overnight charging, 80% max charge, and no Level 3 (DC fast) chargers until fixed (remedy starts ~March 2026). These restrictions make safe, practical use impossible: outdoor charging in Philly winter is impractical and risky (damage/theft), and no fast charging limits daily family mobility severely. The issue hasn't been reproduced or inspected by a dealer in my case—it's precautionary based on other vehicles' incidents. No manufacturer, police, or insurance inspection has occurred for my cars. VW denied buyback or relief, saying it's covered under warranty. Combined with prior recalls (door handles, software glitches needing repeated visits), this substantially impairs safe use. The fire risk forces unsustainable charging changes with young kids at home.Read more

Description of Safety Defect: While starting car up, the digital instrument cluster (speedometer and all primary driver instrumentation) goes completely black with no warning. The infotainment system continues to operate normally. After driving a short distance (sometimes only a few miles), the vehicle then experiences a complete loss of power steering, making the car extremely difficult or impos
... sible to control. This creates an immediate risk of a crash, especially at speed or during turning. In multiple instances, after this failure occurs, the vehicle also becomes difficult to shut off, remaining in accessory or powered states despite attempts to turn the vehicle off. This defect involves simultaneous failure of: •Driver instrumentation display •Electric power steering assistance •Normal ignition shutdown behavior The loss of steering assist results in a sudden and unexpected loss of vehicle control. This appears to be an electronic or control-module failure affecting multiple safety-critical systems. Safety Impact: This defect poses a serious risk of crash, injury, or death due to sudden loss of steering assistance and lack of speed/vehicle status information while driving. Frequency: Has occurred twice - each time requiring roadside assistance to get the car to the dealer Warning Lights or Messages: None - just complete loss of instrumentation cluster Dealer Response (if applicable): Dealer initially claimed it had fixed, but it occurred again within 24 hours of retrieving from dealer. Dealer has now had car go over a week claiming that it needs to generate the fault state more than once before it will make any warranty repairsRead more

Safety concerns include battery failure that can cause me to be stranded and the fact that the previous owner has the ability to start my vehicle at any time, even while parked in my garage posing a risk to my family’s health/life with trapped carbon monoxide building up. Privacy concerns include the previous owners ability to track my vehicle, lock and unlock doors, access my contacts, call log, location, and more. This is a significant risk. The dealership should not have sold me a vehicle with a defective module without repairing it and now refuse to fix it. This should have been included in GMs factory recall for 2023 Tahoe TCU’s or a new recall should be issued. Consumers should not bear the burden to fix a widely known safety, health, and privacy risk.Read more

While driving, a warning message displayed on the dashboard stating that there was a fault in the electrical system and that I should pull over and stop the car. As I tried to find a safe place to pull over the car lost power and I pulled onto the shoulder. The shoulder was only as wide as the car. I was stopped on the side of a two lane road with a 55 mph speed limit. In order to exit the car I
... had to step into the travel lane. The electrical fault resulted in no power available to the warning flasher lights or headlights. This occurred at night with no street lighting to show oncoming drivers that there was a stopped vehicle immediately next to the traffic lane. This put me and other drivers at risk. The vehicle was towed to a dealer capable of working on this type of failure. The dealer determined that the failed component is known as the ICCU. This is a critical part and had been known to fail in this model. My vehicle had already received every software update in an attempt by the manufacturer to avoid the ICCU failure. The dealer replaced the failed ICCU with a new working ICCU. It is my understanding that the replacement ICCU is identical to the failed ICCU and a risk remains that the new one could fail as well with a loss of power while driving at speed.Read more
