While driving the vehicle under normal conditions, a sudden electrical fire occurred, requiring immediate evacuation. While driving, the center infotainment display repeatedly goes completely black and reboots without warning. This occurs while the vehicle is in motion. During these events, the touchscreen-based climate controls and infotainment functions are unavailable until the system restarts. The driver display (speedometer) remains active. This has happened multiple times under normal driving conditions.
... Volkswagen recommended disabling wireless Apple CarPlay and using a wired USB connection instead. We followed this guidance exactly, disabling Bluetooth and wireless CarPlay and using only a USB connection. Despite this, the infotainment system continues to crash and reboot while driving. Because the vehicle relies on the center screen for climate controls, vehicle settings, and camera access, this failure creates driver distraction and a potential safety risk. Loss of the center display while driving is not acceptable in a new vehicle. This appears to be a software or system stability defect affecting the infotainment system and is not limited to wireless phone connectivity. I have photographic documentation of the screen going black during these events.Read more

One day my car would not charge. At all. Luckily, I was at home when this happened, but had it happened to me or worse, my wife it could've been a very scary or dangerous situation. When I described
... the problem to the Tesla dealer, they were very aware of the problem and said that it was the Power Conversion System. There was no prior warning before this happened. Though they are aware of the problem, they are only fixing/replacing them on a warranty basis. Even though they know about the faulty part that they made, and acknowledge, they are not doing a recall or fixing the problem unless you pay for the parts and labor. I asked if this is normal for a car that is under 2yrs old and he said this part can go bad at anytime. The best thing that can happen is for it to happen early while still under warranty. But the part does not break due to wear and tear, or overuse, or abuse. It is due to a faulty design that needs to be replaced. That's why they have a new part that they replace it with now.Read more

On or about December 2, 2025, I discovered that multiple connected and safety-related systems on my 2025 Cadillac Optiq had stopped functioning. We believe a GM over-the-air software update was installed the weekend prior, and the dealer has inferred that the update may have caused the failure. We brought the car into the dealership on December 16th. The car was "fixed" and I picked up later that
... evening. i was told that the OnStar module is broken and is on national backorder. The OnStar module is connected to, several critical safety and driver-assistance systems which are inoperable. These include, but are not limited to: OnStar emergency services driver-assist systems, GPS and navigation functions Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and vehicle internet connectivity. Although the vehicle is technically drivable, the loss of these systems poses a significant safety risk to occupants and others on the road. The vehicle cannot contact emergency services in a collision, cannot send diagnostic data, and lacks essential driver-assistance and navigation capabilities. The dealer has confirmed the problem, but the replacement telematics module is currently backordered with no clear timeline, and they stated the delay could last weeks or longer. Because the failure appears to have been caused by a GM-issued OTA update, and because essential safety systems are offline, I am concerned about both the defect itself and the extended inability to repair it due to unavailable parts. UNKNOWN whether GM has conducted a broader inspection or analysis of this update or component, but the failure has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer’s service department.Read more

When the vehicle is exposed to very hot or very cold temperatu
... res, the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) warning light illuminates, along with the check engine light and the auto stop-start warning light. When this occurs, the vehicle begins to sputter and loses power. It will not properly a-ccelerate and significantly reduces speed while driving. This creates a serious safety hazard, especially in traffic or at highway speeds. A sudden loss of power or inability to accelerate could easily result in a collision, potentially causing serious injury or death. There is currently no remedy available for this recall, yet the vehicle remains in operation on public roads. I do not feel the vehicle is safe to drive under these conditions. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue further and require the manufacturer to provide an immediate and effective remedy. Owners should not be placed in a position where they must operate an unsafe vehicle while waiting for a repair solution. Thank you for your attention to this matter. One incident occurred in a school pickup line, causing traffic disruption and creating a safety risk with children present. In addition, the vehicle is subject to a high-voltage battery safety recall due to fire risk. I have been advised that the vehicle is unsafe to park in a garage, and I am concerned about the risk of fire. At this time, there is no permanent repair available for the recall. Despite reporting these issues and seeking service, the safety defects remain unresolved. Incident Summary for NHTSA Complaint Component Involved: Electrical System: Alternator / Charging System Vehicle State: In motion (City street/Highway) Speed at Failure: Approximately [Insert Speed] MPH Narrative Description: The vehicle suffered a catastrophic electrical failure while in motion, resulting in an immediate and total engine stall in live traffic. This failure occurred without suffi
... cient warning to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder, creating an immediate safety hazard and risk of collision. This is a recurring safety defect: Repeat Failure: This is the second time this specific VIN has suffered a mid-traffic alternator failure. An Audi-certified replacement was installed by an authorized dealer (Audi Arlington) in 2022 following an identical incident. That replacement part has now failed. Failure of "Service Action" (27BQ): Despite an active Service Action for this component, the vehicle was not repaired during multiple prior service visits at authorized dealerships. The manufacturer failed to proactively address the defect, leading to this second roadside emergency. Cascading Electrical Instability: This VIN has a documented history of systemic electrical and safety system failures, including a gasket failure that compromised safety electronics and a total fuel system replacement due to sensor failure. The manufacturer (Audi) has classified this sudden loss of power in traffic as "non-critical," despite the clear risk of high-speed collision and physical injury. I am requesting a formal investigation into the recurring failure of the 27BQ component and the adequacy of the manufacturer's current service remedy.Read more

While driving my 2017 Honda Pilot Elite, the vehicle has experienced four separate incidents of sudden and complete loss of power, including while traveling at highway speeds and during rush-hour traffic. The engine shuts off without warning, causing the vehicle to stop in traffic. In multiple incidents, the vehicle would not restart for several minutes. These incidents occurred on U.S. 19 and In
... terstate 275 in heavy traffic, creating an immediate risk of collision. In one incident, the vehicle died while traveling at highway speeds. In another, it shut off at a red light and blocked traffic during rush hour. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Honda dealership multiple times. Diagnostic testing initially found no issues. Later visits attributed the problem to the battery, despite the battery being recently replaced and the condition recurring after replacement. The symptoms exactly match Honda Pilot start/stop engine failure recalls affecting nearby model years. However, because my model year is not included, the dealership refused to repair the vehicle in accordance with the recall, even when I offered to pay for the repair. I believe this represents a safety-related defect involving sudden engine shutdown while driving. The vehicle is unreliable and unsafe to operate. Furthermore, given the repeated failure of this vehicle, the dealership’s inability to permanently repair the condition after multiple attempts, and the ongoing safety risk, I am concerned this matter may meet the criteria for a nonconformity under Florida’s Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act. I am hopeful Honda will resolve this matter cooperatively and without the need for further regulatory or legal action.Read more

... N OHIO FOR 10 DAYS AND DROVE ABOUT 750 MILES AND THEN BACK TO SC WITH NO PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, AFTER 4 WEEKS, I STARTED GETTING THE SAME EMAILS. I AGAIN DROVE ABOUT 45 MINUTES AT 60 MPH. THIS TIME IT DID NOT CHARGE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND MANY OWNERS OF THIS TRUCK WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THIS TRUCK TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM OF THE BATTERY WAS NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. HE STATED THAT IT WAS A BAD BATTERY AND REPLACED IT (01-19-2026). HOWEVER, THE WORK ORDER STATED THAT THE TRUCK WAS "SLOW TO START" - - - NOT THAT THE BATTERY WAS NOT CHARGING. I DID NOT QUESTION HIM, BECAUSE I WAS HAPPY TO GET A NEW BATTERY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. LATER, I BECAME CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM MAY NOT ACTULLY BE FIXED. MY CONCERNS: 1) WHY THE WORK ORDER DID NOT EXPRESS THE PROBLEM; 2) IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND LEAVE ME STRANDED; 3) WHY ARE SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.Read more

Car was plugged in to our home level 2 charger waiting to charge (no current was being supplied yet). Alarm went off, I went into our attached garage and checked on it. Heard a high pitch beeping coming from the car, went into it and saw this message (see attached picture). Took picture while waiting for garage door to open so I could back car out of garage and as far down our driveway as possible
... . Called fire department and then disconnected high voltage battery from under the hood. FD arrived and didn't really know what to do. Alarm continued to go off. Eventually a flatbed arrived and I had it delivered to our local dealer. We use this car in rural VT. The weather right now is single digits or below. We regularly use this to transport our one year old. Had this not happened at home but on a drive, this certainly could have been a much, much worse situation. The car is currently at the dealer waiting to be looked at. The person said I Was the third ID4 to come in over the weekend. They are not currently providing us with a loaner even though we requested one.Read more

My 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 lost all power and stopped in the middle of a busy road. I had no power even when I pressed the gas. Nothing in the car worked, including the hazard lights, which made it even more dangerous as cars were speeding past me. I was finally able to call the police to come help and they set up a safe area. However, I was put in an unsafe situation while I waited for assistance fr
... om the police. In addition, there was no way to put the car in neutral once the power was off (at least I couldn't find a button or a switch to do that), which made it difficult to get it towed. I understand the car died on me because of faulty ICCU on my car. Btw, the car had just finished its software update earlier that day. I am not sure if this somehow contributed to the ICCU failure.Read more
