A 2026 Toyota Prius was delivered to me on or about February 5, 2026 while subject to an active federal safety recall involving a rear door electrical switch defect. The recall indicates that water intrusion into the rear door switch can cause an electrical short circuit which may allow a rear door to open while the vehicle is in motion. At the time of delivery, there was no remedy available for t
... his recall. The recall had been announced on January 28, 2026 and was active in both the manufacturer’s system and NHTSA recall lookup at the time the vehicle was leased. Despite the active recall and lack of remedy, the vehicle was delivered for use. The safety risk is that a rear door could open unexpectedly while driving, potentially creating risk of passenger ejection or injury to other motorists. No failure has yet occurred, but the vehicle was delivered under active recall without repair. This complaint concerns delivery of a new vehicle while subject to an unrepaired federal safety recall.Read more

I was driving my car when it powered down and had an unrecoverable loss of propulsion. It's a miracle I didn't crash and kill myself or anyone else on the road. This aligns with NHTSA Recall Number 25V-766. Jeep dealer identified the issue is failed transfer case assembly, then had to replace transfer case motor, then updated the software for the electric battery, but that software update is an
... ineffective remedy for the recall. I'm afraid to drive car because it might spontaneously catch fire or power down while driving again, which is terrifying because you lose all steering control. My car has been at the Jeep Dealer in Lynnfield, Massachusetts since January 7, 2026. The Jeep dealer said they couldn't buy my Jeep from me because they can't certify it's safety due to open recall. I can't park car in my parking garage or anywhere in Boston per recall notice. Bought Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe brand new 1/20/24 for $76,500 and have $25,000 of equity/payments in it, but it has a note of $52,500 outstanding and due to recall issues the car is only worth maybe $32,500 but should be worth at least $60,000. I want manufacturer to buy my car back from me because it's under warranty and they can't fix the battery in a way that makes it safe to drive or even park near anything.Read more

The dealership confirmed the active check engine light and conducted a diagnosis. While my sa

On December 17, 2025, I brought my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (30th Anniversary Edition) to Los Angeles Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for safety recall 68C involving the high-voltage (HV) battery. The dealer performed the required recall software update/flash and diagnostic and confirmed the vehicle failed 68C, meaning the HV traction battery pack requires replacement. The vehicle remains at the deale
... r and is available for inspection. I cannot take the vehicle home even if I tried: per the recall process it must remain at the dealer once it fails, and the software flash/diagnostic effectively “bricked” the vehicle, rendering it undriveable until the HV battery is replaced. This defect involves the HV battery, a critical energy-storage component with serious safety implications. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer; no police/insurance inspection. The dealer initially stated the battery would arrive around January 12, 2026, but it did not. At ~4 weeks out of service I called the dealer for an update—no ETA, status, or tracking. The dealer has never proactively contacted me. At ~8 weeks I called Jeep Cares—no ETA, tracking, or meaningful update; they only contacted the dealer. I am still making payments on a vehicle immobilized at the dealer for ~9 weeks due to the recall remedy delay. I also did not receive the $100 recall compensation gift cards and Jeep Cares has not resolved that. I am filing this complaint because the recall remedy is not being provided within a reasonable time, leaving me without transportation and without any timeline for a critical safety-recall repair.Read more

The radio amplifier is mounted in the rear trunk wheel well attached to the bottom, along with the subwoofer assembly. Under the amplifier is a small drain. My trunk leaked during the rain and shorted out the amplifier. This shut off all communication noise in car. No noise from blinkers or warnings of dangerous situations. According to AI, "The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV shares the same basic body
... structure and rear hatch design as earlier models (2017–2020), and there is no confirmed evidence that the trunk seal was redesigned or improved to prevent water intrusion. Despite a known issue with water leaks into the trunk—often due to voids in seam sealer or compromised tailgate gaskets—General Motors issued a service bulletin (18-NA-182) that applied only to 2017–2020 models. However, owners of 2022 and 2023 models have reported identical leaks, with water pooling in the rear cargo area and damaging components like the amplifier located in the spare tire well." The rearview camera on my 2014 Ford Fusion has been malfunctioning for several years. When the system does activate, the image is sometimes mirrored or reversed, making it difficult or unsafe to interpret the surroundings behind the vehicle. Overall, the cam
... era functions correctly in approximately 1 out of 10 attempts, and cannot be relied upon for safe operation. This failure is unpredictable and occurs without warning, creating a safety risk due to the inability to consistently see pedestrians, children, or obstacles behind the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a Ford dealership for this issue; however, no remedy was provided because the vehicle was outside the warranty period. I am aware that Ford has issued recalls and extended coverage for rearview camera failures on later model year Ford Fusion vehicles (2015 and newer) exhibiting similar symptoms. My vehicle demonstrates the same defect behavior, despite being excluded based solely on model year. Although rearview cameras were optional equipment in 2014, this vehicle was factory-equipped with a camera, and the failure constitutes a safety-related defect rather than normal wear. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether this defect affects earlier model years, including the 2014 Ford Fusion.Read more

Several things have been going wrong with this car. I have only had it for about 7 months. Minimal driving. Got the car with 84,000 miles and it now has 88,000 miles. A couple days ago I was driving with two [XXX] olds in the car and was at a stop light. After about a minute the cars engine turned completely off lost all power including the center screen that displays your settings and radio, all lights, and the screen behind the wheel all with my foot on the break at a stop light. Due to this situation I was unable to turn my hazards on to alert the cars coming up being me at a green light absolutely panicked that we were going to get into an accident. A little while after the car turned back on, but unfortunately when trying to push down on the gas pedal nothing was happening. No revving sound and no movement of the car. Car still in drive. A police officer pulled up behind me to check if we were okay. He stayed to keep us safe until people came to push the car off to the side. During the push the wheel was almost completely locked up as well as the breaks. This is not the first time the breaks have locked up on me. Next day we got the car to a safe area to be parked. A couple days later went to try and turn the car on and immediately the car is shaking violently and making horrible noises. The car is unsafe for me to drive and unsafe for people on the road. I’ve had this car since March 8, 2020 and from the very beginning I’ve had electrical issues at first. It did progress and I had to get the battery switched out twice as well as the second battery this happened while I was pregnant and it actually was because the car stalled out on me. I was out in Palmdale visiting my parents when the car completely turned off all the electrical options were nonexistent. I was at a stoplight and when the car didn’t turn back on, it was dark because Palmdale is a desert area. I had no lights, and I had no way of telling the rest of the drivers I was having an emergency if I got out the car, I was putting myself at risk as well as my babies. My car stalling happened a few times over the years which also exposed extended family members. I repeatedly asked Jeep to help me and they have possession of the car at the moment. I still have payments on this car and I have the tags due in two weeks. I’ve called them and they are giving me the runaround and it’s very disheartening and very frustrating.
