Component Failed: ABS Braking System / Wiring Harness. Safety Risk: While driving at highway speeds with my service animal, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic ABS failure. The brakes became unresponsive, and the dashboard displayed multiple critical safety warnings, nearly resulting in a collision. Confirmation: The failure was confirmed by Schumacher VW (West Palm Beach) during a forensic inspec
... tion. They identified the cause as a corroded/damaged wiring harness—the exact defect visible in a diagnostic video from Jim Ellis VW one week prior. Warning Symptoms: "Front Assist" and sensor warning lamps appeared on [XXX]. I paid Jim Ellis VW for a diagnostic; however, they failed to repair the visible defect and later falsely denied to the BBB that the diagnostic ever occurred. Summary: This vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ) has a documented safety defect that was identified by a technician but concealed by dealership management. This concealment led to a total loss of braking assist while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle is currently available for inspection at Schumacher VW. Relates to the Volkswagen Recall: 28H7-Ignition Switch that for some reason is only applied to Jetta's but needs to be expanded to include 2019 Tiguans . In vehicles equipped with a conventional ignition switch, the polyfuse can fail, particularly when the vehicle is operated in high temperature environments. If the polyfuse fails, it can result in the engine stalling while driving and failure of
... the vehicle's electrical system, increasing the risk of a crash. I have had this issue happen over 5 times since the initial incident last week. Now anything above 70 degrees Fahrenheit causes the interior to "lose power" but the engine will continue to run. The A/C, infotainment system, all the ADAS, instrument cluster, headlights, and turn signals shuts off completely. No brake lights, no blinkers, no odometer reading, nothing. I can still drive (accelerate & brake) when this is happening but without all of those systems working I cannot safely operate this vehicle.Read more

The multipurpose camera module has failed, on the vehicle resulting in the simultaneous loss of several driver-assistance and safety systems while the vehicle is in operation. These systems include cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, collision mitigation, automatic high beams, and the brake system warning. Upon inspection, there appears to be overheating within the camera mod
... ule. This overheating has caused visible discoloration both inside and outside the module housing. Based on these observations, I believe the condition may present a potential fire hazard. Additionally, the plastic cover mounted to the windshield becomes extremely hot to the touch, creating a risk of skin burns if it is accidentally contacted. This malfunction poses a significant safety concern for my family. If the camera fails while driving, the vehicle’s safety systems may not function as intended, increasing the risk of an accident. All of the failures chime in one after another displaying a problem with the malfunctioning components stated earlier in the text. Furthermore, if a driver is deaf or not actively monitoring the instrument panel or speedometer, they may not hear or immediately notice the warning alerts indicating that these systems are no longer functioning. The issue has been diagnosed by my local repair shop finding error code U3000-49: Camera/Radar Internal Failure. Repair requires replacement of the multipurpose camera module, with an estimated cost exceeding $2,000 in parts and labor, which represents a significant financial burden.Read more

I own a 2018 Honda Accord and have been experiencing an ongoing issue where multiple warning lights appear on the dashboard at the same time. The lights include several safety and system warnings, making it look like many different systems in the vehicle are malfunctioning simultaneously. I have taken the vehicle to be serviced and attempted to fix the issues that were identified. However, even a
... fter repairs were made, the dashboard warning lights continue to stay on or return shortly after. It has become frustrating because the vehicle continues to show problems even when something has already been repaired. This situation makes it difficult to know whether there is a real safety issue occurring with the car or if the warning system itself is malfunctioning. Having so many warning lights on at once also creates concern about the reliability and safety of the vehicle, especially since several of the warnings relate to important systems such as braking, driver assistance features, and engine performance. After researching the issue, I discovered that many other owners of the 2018 Honda Accord have reported experiencing the same problem with multiple dashboard warnings appearing at once. Because this appears to be a widespread issue, I am submitting this complaint so it can be documented and investigated further. I believe there may be an underlying defect causing these repeated warning lights despite repairs being made.Read more

I am reporting a failure of the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland. The failure is manifesting as an error message saying "service transmission" and the code that it is throwing says that the paddle shifters are overheating. This component is identical to the modules currently under Safety Recall 36B (NHTSA 24V-199) and Equipment Recall 15B (NHTSA 24E-0
... 25). The manufacturer has admitted that these modules possess an internal weld defect that prevents the driver’s side airbag from deploying in the event of a crash. Despite the clear safety risk and the fact that this model year/body style (WL) is the primary population for this defect, the manufacturer (Stellantis/Jeep) refuses to cover the repair, stating my specific VIN is not "flagged" in their internal database. I am concerned that the scope of the existing recalls is too narrow and that my vehicle is currently being operated with a non-functional or unreliable driver's airbag system due to this known hardware defect. I am submitting this complaint regarding a safety-related recall on my Audi Q7 involving the alternator. The wording of the recall is significantly underplayed, written off as an emissions issues. When in reality this is a life threatening flaw in the alternator. It is highly concerning that Audi isn’t being transparent with people who are driving these cars and risking their lives while doing s
... o. This is not simply emissions, in reality, the car can totally malfunction while in operation. The entire electrical system fails and the car completely stops responding to the driver, fully stops and dies no matter where you are driving or at what speed. While driving on the highway, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic electrical failure caused by the recalled alternator, which caused the car to completely stop and it would not restart in any way. This created a life-threatening situation for my family and me. As a result of this electrical failure, the vehicle’s battery was damaged, and Audi has acknowledged coverage of 90% for the battery repair. However, the voltage converter, which is part of the same charging system, was also damaged during the same event. Audi is refusing coverage for the $1,600 repair of the voltage converter, despite the damage being caused directly by the alternator failure. I believe this represents a significant safety risk, as the vehicle’s sudden loss of power could lead to serious injury or death. Additionally, the recall itself caused secondary damage that is being denied coverage, which is unfair and unsafe. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter as a safety defect/recall-related failure, and ensure the manufacturer addresses all consequences of this recall-related defect, including coverage of secondary damage like the voltage converter.Read more

This complaint involves a sudden failure of my vehicle’s Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Forward Collision Warning system, both of which are critical safety systems. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had been functioning perfectly. The evening before, I had driven the vehicle to pick up my son from wrestling practice with no issues. The following morning, during a routine trip to school, these critical safety warnings appeared without warning. Because the warnings involved the braking system, I immediately took the vehicle to Beach Buick GMC for inspection. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a software failure affecting the braking system and informed me that the vehicle required a software update and system download in order to restore proper operation of the brakes and related safety systems. I was required to pay over $300 for this repair because my vehicle is approximately 3,000 miles outside of the warranty period. However, I believe a failure involving the braking system and safety warnings should not occur suddenly in a properly functioning vehicle and should not be treated as a normal maintenance expense. The vehicle’s infotainment display intermittently freezes or shuts off while the vehicle is in operation. When this occurs, the rear-view backup camera display also fails or becomes unavailable. The malfunction happens randomly during normal driving conditions. This presents a safety concern because the driver relies on the navigation display while driving. When the screen suddenly freezes or sh
... uts down, it distracts the driver and may require the driver to attempt to restart or troubleshoot the system while operating the vehicle. In addition, the loss of the backup camera function creates a safety risk when reversing. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Volkswagen dealership for diagnosis. The dealership acknowledged that the symptoms are identical to those addressed in existing Volkswagen recalls and technical service bulletins affecting vehicles of the same model year. The repair procedure described by the dealership is the same as the recall repair: first perform a software update, and if the issue persists, replace the control module. However, despite the identical symptoms and repair procedure, this specific vehicle’s VIN was not included in the recall population. Because the vehicle was also outside the warranty period, the dealership required the owner to pay for the repair. The owner contacted Volkswagen Customer CARE and the case was escalated to a regional case manager. The request for assistance was denied solely on the basis that the VIN was not included in the recall and that the warranty had expired, even though the problem and repair were identical to the known recall issue. As a result, the owner was required to pay approximately $1,600 for the repair. Vehicle information: 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan The concern is that vehicles experiencing the same defect may not be included in the recall population despite exhibiting identical failures, creating both safety risks and inconsistent manufacturer response.Read more

While driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue (approximately 51,000 miles), the vehicle completely lost all electrical power twice. The first incident occurred on Wednesday while stopped at a traffic light, and the second occurred on Friday afternoon after parking the vehicle; in the second instance, it would not start and had to be towed to the dealership. Prior to the failures, the vehicle displayed CVT Ma
... lfunction and MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) warnings, which the dealership was made aware of. When the vehicle was brought to the dealership (Keating Nissan), they identified a fatigued negative battery terminal and cable assembly as the cause. They performed a temporary adjustment, but stated that the repair is not permanent and may require replacement. Only days before these incidents, the dealership performed a multi-point inspection where the battery was marked as passing inspection. Because the vehicle lost all power while driving, this was a serious safety concern, putting me, passengers, and others on the road at risk. The vehicle can be inspected by the dealership upon request. I do not feel confident that the root issue has been permanently resolved, and I am concerned given the age and mileage of the vehicle that such a failure occurred so early.
