I ordered a boat trailer kit online from a US business April 9, 2025. I was sent the kit that had mostly all used and or defective parts. I requested replacement parts for the wheel axle, wheels, and hubs from the seller and from his manufacturer in China. Both the seller and the manufacturing company required me to agree via e-mail to not ask for more parts in their e-mail response. I again recei
... ved used and defective parts. I decided to build the trailer as I had no other options and hope things would work okay. When I was ready to haul the trailer for the first time, I became concerned and so did not haul it after all. I contacted NHSTA and worked with Office of Vehicle Safety and Compliance Automotive Enforcement Investigator The NHSTA reviewed my concerns, seller communication, and pictures of parts. He directed me to submit a complaint to your department addressing: Poorly re-welded wheel axle Dried out and brittle electrical wire insulation Used wheel hubs with rust/rusted bolts, dirty grease, rusting wheels These issues can potentially cause a road accident, fire, or by the axle breaking, worn bearings, and electrical wires exposed to water.Read more

The component that failed/malfunctioned was the module that activates the EPB. It is available for inspection if requested. My safety was put at risk because the parking brake would engage every time the vehicle shut off leaving me stranded and could put other drivers at risk if my vehicle was stranded on the roadway. It would sometimes reset if the battery was disconnected and then reconnected,
... but eventually trying to reset it did not work. Within a week, the actuators completely seized and the vehicle was inoperable, requiring to be towed. The problem was confirmed by a Jeep dealership service center. They noted that water was leaking into the vehicle from the outside and pooling. The inside rear cargo carpets are moldy and need to be replaced and the module is completely water damaged along with other electrical components being rusted and corroded. The issue has been identified by a certified mechanic at the service center. I had planned to reach out to my auto insurance provider to file a claim, but was informed of an active recall on 2014-2020 Jeep Cherokees with similar symptoms to what I am experiencing. No warning lamps or messages were active prior to the failure. Both "Service Parking Brake" along with the red "brake" light were active to let me know my EPB was engaged. I was able to reset the message briefly to unlock the brakes by disconnecting the battery, but was only successful once. Then it needed to be towed to the dealership for further inspection.Read more

2022 GMC Canyon AT4 Crew Cab. After the vehicle is shifted into Park and the engine is shut off, the ignition key cannot be removed from the cylinder. The key is physically locked, the steering wheel will not lock, and the vehicle cannot be reliably secured. The only workaround is to restart the engine and cycle the shifter repeatedly until the interlock releases the key. Recurring. Safety implic
... ations: operator cannot reliably power the vehicle off in an emergency, cannot lock the steering column, and may be forced to leave an unattended vehicle in accessory mode — fire, electrical, and theft risk. The defect is documented in GM's own literature. GM Bulletin PI1429 and GM TSB 19-NA-206 address this exact symptom on the Canyon/Colorado platform. NHTSA-archived GM TSB MC-10113734 (March 2015), "Ignition Key Cannot Be Removed and/or Does Not Rotate to the 'Off' Position," names the 2015 GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado. The 2022 Canyon uses the same shifter and ignition-interlock architecture. Documented cause: failure of the transmission control lever microswitch that signals "Park" to the interlock solenoid. Documented fix: replace the shifter assembly. Reported to an authorized GMC dealer while still under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Dealer recorded the concern verbatim — "key stays locked in ignition when shifting to Park" — and closed it "unable to duplicate," no repair, despite the open bulletins. A second GMC dealer later refused to inspect, with the service advisor stating on the service drive that there is no fix, that they see this on Canyons and Colorados all the time, and that he had seen another such vehicle the day before. No diagnostic, no repair order. GM's Technical Assistance Center has since taken the position that the bulletins above do not apply to this vehicle, which is inconsistent with the bulletins themselves. No crash, no injury, no fire. Reporting a manufacturer-documented ignition-interlock defect GM is refusing to repair.Read more

The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and stated that while driving, the vehicle's doors locked and unlocked randomly, the cabin lights flickered, and the doors failed to unlock properly during entry attempts, while the radio randomly selected its own options and the touchscreen occasionally stopped working despite the alternator and battery being replaced. Furthermore, the vehicle suddenly and
... randomly lost motive power and shut off on main roads, highways, and at stop signs, which caused the dashboard to flash on and off and the power steering to fail completely. When attempting to turn off the vehicle by twisting the key, it refused to shut down initially and triggered a large engine bay fan to kick on, though replacing the temperature gauges eventually resolved this specific shutdown issue. The vehicle has been taken to multiple dealers and independent mechanics, but was failed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. We purchased a used 2020 Ford Expedition Max Platinum, VIN [XXX] , from Deacon Jones dealership. The vehicle currently has 128,888 miles. At the time of purchase, we were assured the SUV was in “tip-top shape” because it had previously belonged to a manager’s friend and had supposedly been well maintained and serviced. However, within only two weeks of purchasing the vehicle, the transmiss
... ion began slipping out of gear while accelerating, causing the vehicle to lose power and fail to move properly. This is an extremely dangerous safety issue, especially considering I travel frequently to doctors’ appointments and regularly transport my seven grandchildren in this SUV. In addition to the transmission failure, the main electrical system controlling the dashboard frequently glitches and malfunctions, even after Ford performed a software update. These ongoing electrical problems create additional safety concerns and make the vehicle unreliable. We immediately contacted the dealership after the problems began. Their only offer was $750 toward a transmission replacement that will cost over $5,000. We simply do not have that kind of money, especially while continuing to make monthly payments of $850 on a vehicle that is unsafe to drive. We have also since discovered the vehicle had previously been involved in an accident that was never reported to us before the sale. What is most concerning is that this vehicle appears to have received an inspection sticker despite clearly not undergoing a proper inspection. A transmission that slips out of gear and significant electrical malfunctions should never have passed inspection. This places not only my family at risk, but also everyone else on the road. We have written several letters to Ford regarding the safety concerns surrounding this vehicle and the danger it poses to our family. Unfortunately, Ford responded stating they would not assist us in any way. It is extremely disappointing INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 55Read more

After inspection, the dealership advised that a wiring-related issue was found and repaired in order to restore functionality to the outlet system. I am concerned that a wiring defect occurred on a brand-new vehicle and believe this reflects poor workmanship and inadequate quality control during manufacturing. In addition to this issue, my truck has experienced several other mechanical and electrical problems within only a few months of ownership. The exact failed component is unknown to me at this time, but the issue appears related to the vehicle’s electrical system. Prior to the incident, I received a charging error notification while the vehicle was plugged in. I unplugged the charger from the wall outlet, waited briefly, and plugged it back in. Later that same day, the vehicle entered a no-start condition and would not start despite
... repeated attempts over approximately two hours. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle left me stranded at night for approximately two hours without warning. Because the vehicle would not start, I was unable to reliably move or operate the vehicle. Depending on location, weather conditions, surrounding traffic, and other circumstances or emergency situations, this type of failure could place occupants and other drivers at risk. Additionally, I previously reported a separate safety-related incident involving this same vehicle in February 2026 in which the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated in my daughter’s daycare parking lot. This has not been reproduced. The vehicle unexpectedly started and operated again at approximately the same time the tow truck arrived, after remaining inoperable for roughly two hours. Because the issue resolved itself without repair, it’s not clear what the root cause is. The vehicle has not yet been inspected. The vehicle has remained garaged following the incident pending further evaluation and communication with Ford. There were some warnings. Prior to operating the vehicle that evening, I received a charging error notification while the vehicle was plugged in. After unplugging and reconnecting the charger, the vehicle later experienced the no-start condition. On a recent drive, my 2024 Mercedes-Benz E350 VIN: [XXX] suffered a catastrophic safety hazard involving a complete loss of drive power and sudden engine shutdown while operating at highway speeds. ... er's power seat became permanently frozen in a fully reclined position while driving, creating an immediate driver-ergonomic safety hazard. Multiple interior USB charging ports and the passenger-side power seat also lost power entirely. This combination of engine stalling and localized interior electronic failure strongly aligns with NHTSA Recall 24V-115, which involves faulty 80-Amp fuses in the main fuse box causing a loss of propulsion. The vehicle also currently displays an open, unresolved safety recall for its airbag systems. The manufacturer's dealership is attempting to charge multiple diagnostic fees to investigate these interconnected issues rather than processing them under an active safety campaign. We bought this vehicle from Carvana in February 2023. Since very early on owning this vehicle, the engine hesitated and stuttered when trying to shift from first to second gear, and would lunge forward slightly. In December 2024, I received a letter from Ford Motor Company about a customer satisfaction program, Campaign 24N07. The letter addressed the symptoms my vehicle exhibited, including engin
... e hesitation, engine running rough, and engine stalling at low speeds, though the check engine light was not on. The letter states that Ford Motor Company provides a one-time replacement of the canister purge valve, given these symptoms and the check engine light being on. When I called all the local Ford dealerships, they refused to do it because the check engine light was not on, and that Ford Motor Company issued this as a customer satisfaction program, rather than a safety recall.Everything that was listed in Campaign 24N07 is MOST DEFINITELY a safety issue, and should not be taken lightly. It is highly concerning that Ford Motor Company didn’t think to consider ENGINE ISSUES a safety recall. The class action lawsuit Vargas et al v. Ford Motor Company had a deadline of November 4, 2020, which was 2 years and 3 months prior to us buying the vehicle, so any vehicles of the affected years and models should have been either repaired, or not allowed to be sold unless the repairs were done by an authorized Ford dealership. This information was not told to us when we bought the vehicle. On May 25, 2026, while driving, the engine fault and steering assist fault warnings came on, as well as the check engine light. Electronically controlled thermostat and sensor fail or get stuck at a much lower coolant temperature causing the dash to display the “steering assist is reduced drive with care.” It isn’t just a message, the steering is much harder to use potentially causing an accident. The ac completely doesn’t work causing potential for sensitive, elderly, or young children and pets to overheat inside
... , it’s significant risk of injury or death from the hot summer temperatures. The engine coolant temperature gauge is all the way down on C position which isn’t registering how hot/cold the engine gets potentially causing damage to the vehicle and a total loss of the vehicle entirely due to damage from the engine overheating. GM sent out letters to 2021 blazer owners which included a special coverage number N252508350 applying to people with this year having this problem and they have until 2036 or 150,009 mi to get the repairs made free of charge, they just bring the document with the special repair codes to the dealer and they fix it free of charge. After doing research online, this problem is affecting all years of the 2019+ blazers with the 3.6L V6 engine AND other known problems with other models and years of their other lineup of cars, it’s very widespread across their platforms. So what are people supposed to do when it isn’t the 2021 year? Pay an $800+ repair bill to GM when they KNOW it’s more widespread than just this year/make? This is a scam. I can’t even do the repair myself because I’m having trouble finding the correct parts online and not only that the repair is extensive, the whole top half of the engine needs to be taken apart just to get to the thermostat, we’re talking the airbox and intake manifold, all the plastic parts and shrouds and sensors covering engine, the fuel rail and injectors, pipes and clamps, engine coolant needs drained and refilled. It’s a major fix. I’m reporting this complaint to raise awareness and hopefully GM will do the right thing.Read more

I own a 2021 Kia Telluride with approximately 111,000 miles. I initially brought the vehicle to a Kia dealership for an oil consumption issue and engine noise. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately began experiencing electrical warning lights, including the b

I returned to the dealership, where they performed diagnostic testing and indicated a potential alternator issue, but stated it was in a “borderline” range and that the vehicle was safe to drive. Shortly after leaving the dealership, while driving with my family in the vehicle, the electrical system began to fail. Multiple warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle lost electrical function while in motion. The vehicle ultimately became completely inoperable and shut down in a parking lot, creating a serious safety concern. Prior to the dealership visit and repairs, the vehicle had no history of electrical issues, warning lights, or charging system problems. The dealership later acknowledged that the alternator issue was not present when the vehicle was initially brought in. My 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 43, VIN [XXX] , has had a recurring safety issue with the transmission wiring harness and connector X279. Mercedes-Benz said this connector can let water in, which can cause a short circuit, overheating, and a fire risk while the car is parked and off. That is why the vehicle was covered by recall 24V445 / MBUSA Campaign 2024100002. This same issue was already addresse
... d once before in January 2023 under MBUSA Campaign 2022080010 / NHTSA 22V-533, when the connector was checked and reworked and a bracket was installed. Even after that, the car later had to go back again on November 29, 2024 for the newer recall repair, when the original two-part harness was replaced with a one-part harness. The part that concerns me most is that this is not just a routine repair issue. It is a fire risk that can happen while the vehicle is parked with the ignition off. I am also concerned that the recall and service records do not clearly show the exact completion date in the manufacturer’s system. I am asking NHTSA to record this complaint and review the defect history and repair history for this vehicle. I can provide the recall notices, service records, purchase contract, vehicle history report, and the notice I already sent to Mercedes-Benz USA. We are also instructed to only charge when the vehicle can be monitored. Because of my business and need to have a vehicle ready to go at all times, I have to charge overnight. It is my only vehicle. Volvo Customer Support has ceased to communicate with me, and there is no fix in sight. I'm leasing and not able to use the vehicle as promised by Volvo. I did reach out to customer support at NHTSA and was left feeling as though the rep was irritated at my call and he was very rude to me.Read more
