Early in 2024 my VW Passat TDI SEL the airbag light would not go off after starting and operating the car. The steering wheel controls were also operation incorrectly -- the horn didn't work, nor did the cruise control, wiper controls, etc. I took the car to my local VW dealership, where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel clock spring was defective and needed to be replaced. The dealership r
... eported the component was on a serious back order, and they would call me when it was available. This presented a clear safety issue, since the airbag was non-functioning, and the horn did not work, and the other steering wheel controls were not operating correctly. I requested a loaner car until such time as the repair could be effected, but was told they would not provide me with one. Many months later, the part became available and in September 2024 the faulty steering wheel clock spring was replaced, and I paid for it. Late in 2025, VW mailed me a notice that they were utilizing an extended warranty coverage for the steering wheel clock spring replacement that I had done. I emailed my application to them, according to all of their guidelines, and 4 month later, after receiving on reply to my application, I contacted VW and was told my submission had been overlooked, but I would receive action within a few days. A few days later, the email I received from VW denied that the faulty clock spring replacement was covered by the warranty coverage for which they had mailed me to apply.Read more

I am filing this complaint regarding my 2020 Hyundai Palisade affected by the recall involving the third-row seat airbag not deploying properly and the risk of occupant ejection during a rollover accident. I purchased this vehicle in December 2024 and have experienced a pattern of ongoing mechanical failures, repeated dealership visits, lack of manufacturer support, diminished use of my vehicle, a
... nd financial hardship throughout ownership. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have completed more than 20 oil consumption tests requiring repeated 1,000-mile dealership visits. The issues became so severe that both the engine and transmission ultimately had to be replaced. The unresolved recall has now created an additional major safety concern for my family. Hyundai indicated a remedy was expected by the end of March, but as of now there is still no repair available. This has significantly limited the safe use of my vehicle because the third-row seating cannot safely be used for passengers due to the risk associated with the defective airbag system. This delay is causing financial hardship as well. I intended to use this vehicle through Turo for supplemental income but cannot do so because of the active safety recall. I also have upcoming family travel requiring use of the third row and may now be forced to rent another SUV at my own expense. I currently owe approximately $30,000 on this vehicle and am facing substantial negative equity due to the vehicle’s extensive repair history and unresolved recall status. I am concerned about both passenger safety and Hyundai’s prolonged delay in providing a remedy for a serious safety issue. I am requesting that this complaint be documented as part of the ongoing investigation and oversight regarding Hyundai’s handling of this recall and the delay in providing repairs to consumers.Read more

This issue involves a documented and recurring safety-related defect that was reported multiple times while my vehicle was still covered under Nissan’s factory warranty related to the airbag system. My 2020 Nissan Altima currently has approximately 53,900 miles and has experienced repeated airbag/SRS failures associated with diagnostic code B1436-13, indicating an open circuit within the passen
... ger airbag system. This issue has occurred on multiple occasions, including in 2022, 2024, 2025, and 2026. During several warranty-period service visits, the diagnostic codes were reportedly cleared, however, the underlying wiring harness issue does not appear to have been permanently corrected. I have the full history service record for this car with notes from 3 Nissan Dealers. I have documented communications with Nissan Consumer Affairs dating back to May 13, 2024 regarding this ongoing concern. In addition, I have photographic evidence showing the same airbag fault code on February 22, 2025, along with additional correspondence with Nissan dated March 18, 2025. Both of these events occurred while the vehicle remained within the applicable warranty coverage period. The airbag warning light has now returned again, and I have been presented with a repair estimate exceeding $5,200 for a condition that was previously reported and addressed unsuccessfully while the vehicle was under warranty coverage. According to Nissan’s 2020 Warranty Information Booklet, the Restraint System, including airbags and related electronic control systems, is covered under Nissan’s 5-year/60,000-mile warranty coverage. Because this safety concern was documented during the warranty period and prior repair attempts did not resolve the issue. Given that this matter involves a critical vehicle safety system that could affect passenger airbag deployment, I am hopeful this can be resolved.Read more

My 2025 Tesla Cybertruck AWD (VIN: [XXX] ) has a recurring failure of the right rear seat occupant detection system, which governs airbag deployment and is certified by Tesla to meet FMVSS 208. Tesla then performed a Visual Quality Check, recording in the invoice: "Technician performed a visual quality check to ensure its condition meets our standards." Vehicle returned as repaired. Relying on Tesla's written certification, I reinstalled my [XXX] son's car seat in that position. He rode there daily for approximately 7 months (September 2025 - April 2026). On April 21, 2026, I tested the seat and found the sensor still actively failing - unable to detect an adult occupant. My spouse witnessed this. I have 30-second video. I was driving at normal speed on XXX XXX parkway getting on to the XXX crossing, when I drove over a pothole. The passenger side curtain airbag suddenly deployed even though there was no collision. I had a [XXX] sitting in a car seat in the second row passenger side as well as another child in the third row who thank God weren't hurt. Had the airbags deployed directly on them they would have got
... ten hurt. My family was absolutely terrified and took a long time to calm down. I couldn't find a safe place to pull over and proceeded to the next exit which was luckily only a few hundred feet away. Visibility on the passenger side of the car was completely blocked and it was challenging to drive safely to a safe place where I can pull over. This is the exact failure described in Honda recall campaign UNW, which acknowledges incorrect SRS ECU deployment parameters causing inadvertent curtain airbag deployment from road impacts. I called the Honda recall center and they verbally committed to repairing it completely and told me to bring it to a dealership. I brought the car to Honda Universe at 1085 Ocean Ave, Lakewood NJ, an authorized Honda dealer that said they would not perform the repair unless Honda corporate sends written authorization to pay for it. I called corporate back and was told a case manager needs to be assigned within 48 hours, a process they had not previously mentioned. I am currently left with a car with deployed airbags with no approval and with no timeline provided as well as no loaner or rental vehicle offered. There were no SRS lights or indication of any issue with this system prior to this incident. The component is available for inspection at the dealer. No accident or collision occurred. The airbag deployment was caused solely by a road impact triggering the defective SRS software that Honda has acknowledged and recalled. I am submitting this report regarding a serious and potentially fatal unintended vehicle acceleration incident that occurred immediately after my vehicle was returned from repair. I originally brought the vehicle to the dealership’s body shop following a collision. The repairs included the replacement and repair of cracked grille covers, sensors, rear damage, and the rear camera system. The veh
... icle remained at the repair facility for approximately one month during the repair process. After finally picking up the vehicle, I drove and tested it for many miles without noticing any obvious issues. I then parked in front of a shopping center. The vehicle was fully stopped, and I shifted the transmission into PARK. After engaging PARK, I removed my foot from the brake pedal. At that exact moment, the vehicle suddenly and violently lunged forward on its own without any warning or driver input. The vehicle accelerated into a concrete pillar located less than two feet in front of the parking space. The impact was severe enough to deploy two airbags and caused a very loud, explosive sound inside the vehicle. The force of the collision shocked the interior seats and coverings, and I was left disoriented and briefly unconscious. This incident could easily have resulted in a fatality if a pedestrian or another person had been standing in front of the vehicle at the time of the unintended acceleration. I am requesting a full investigation into the cause of this sudden forward movement after the vehicle had already been stopped and shifted into PARK, especially considering the recent repair work involving sensors and collision-related components. This was an extremely dangerous incident and raises serious concerns about vehicle safety and possible malfunction before or after repair.Read more

After having the airbag recall for my Mercedes done, the Electronic Steering Lock failed and my car would not start and the steering wheel is locked. If you google Mercedes W204 ESLfailure you will see thousand of owners on facebook, message boards

Its really an issue of "when" the ESL will fail on older models and not "if". The kicker is, the dealership said only they can fix the problem as it is an anti-theft issue. This seems very wrong, owners shouldn't be forced to pay Mercedes to fix their defective, cheap electric motors in the ESL that fail on almost every model that its in. These defective motors are what causes the steering lock failure in almost every instance. MB acts like its normal to be driving properly one day and then next your steering is completely locked and your car will not start because a $15 electronic motor in the ESL failed. Furthermore, these are All wheel drive or rear wheel drive, in addition to the locked steering wheel which makes towing very, very difficult and unsafe. Thank youRead more
