I have a faulty steering column in my truck that needs to be replaced. This is not normal wear and tear. The truck only has 60k miles on it and is still under warranty till 1/17/26. The steering column is supposed to last the Life of the truck. I brought the truck to dealership (nye) to diagnose the cause of the bad steering column. But instead they tell me they cant tell me the cause of the faul
... ty steering column. Instead I recieve a quote to pay to replace it. I have called and even emailed the manager as he is suppose to be cerified to diagnose the cause or to give his professional opinion but I get no call back or even reply to my emails. This was in an accident before but the insurance says this is not caused by the accident. Id like to mention the airbags didn't deploy when the truck drove into the telephone pole. This is unsafe to drive and needs to be addressed.Read more

On November 28, 2025 at approximately 2:20am, I was involved in a multi-car pile up crash on Interstate 85 south near Durham NC. At least 5 vehicles were involved and significantly damaged. At least two drivers were taken by ambulance to local hospitals. Fortunately I was not one of them. I was driving in the left lane of the 2 lane southbound interstate. It happened right in front of me and I
... had no chance of completely avoiding it so I veered to my left onto the shoulder to attempt to avoid a direct hit on the large Nissan SUV that was now straddling both lanes. I hit the front of the Nissan and the guardrail almost simultaneously at somewhere around 50 to 60mph which caused considerable damage to the front right quadrant and the entire drivers side of my vehicle, but my airbags never deployed and I sustained moderate to significant injury to my arms, shoulders, chest and neck, most likely due to how I was gripping the steering wheel in anticipation of the impact and from the seat belt. I did not require medical treatment at the scene but have since received treatment at home. I believe the airbags should have deployed given my speed at impact and where my vehicle came in contact with both the Nissan SUV as well as the guardrail. I believe this was a clear failure of the airbag system in my vehicle, which has since been deemed to be totaled by my insurance company.Read more

The vehicle is affected by Toyota Safety Recall 23TA15 / 23TB15 (NHTSA 23V865) involving the front passenger Occupant Classification System sensor. The recall notice states that the sensor may have been improperly manufactured, which could prevent the passenger airbag from deploying in a crash. As of 2025, the manufacturer continues to list the remedy as “not available,” far past the originall
... y estimated timeline of Quarter 3 2024. This means the safety defect cannot be repaired, and passengers may be at risk if the airbag fails to deploy. The issue has been confirmed through Toyota’s recall lookup and dealer inquiries. No warning lights are present, so there is no way for the driver to know if the sensor is malfunctioning. The manufacturer has not provided parts, an inspection, or an interim repair. I am filing this complaint because the prolonged delay leaves the vehicle with an unresolved safety defect.Read more

The "Service Airbag - Passenger" warning light suddenly appeared on the console of my 2014 Buick Enclave. Once I arrived home, I Googled what the light indicated and I also sorted through mail I had recently received from Buick that notified me of a recall. Convinced that I needed to resolve the issue promptly, I contacted the dealership we purchased the vehicle from and they informed me to come
... in so they could hook the diagnostic machine to the car to determine the codes. I went into the dealership early the following morning (work order initiated at 8:21AM). I explained the situation again, and was told that they'd perform a complimentary diagnostic test to determine the issue. The service advisor listed "Safety Recall - Driver Front Airbag Inflator May Rupture" [I did notify them that the warning light indicated it was the passenger side airbag]. At 9:00 AM I received a text message "To review the inspection and approve the recommendations": CUSTOMER STATES SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE CHECK AND ADVISE [Other]: DIAG, NEED 1.5HR DIAG TIME TO TEST CIRCUITS RELATED TO PASSENGER AIR BAG FOR CODE B0021 PASSENGER SEAT SIDE AIR BAD DEPLOYMENT LOOP. (NEED TOI REMOVE SEAT TO TEST)$389.93 -- yes, I approved. But when questioning why there was a charge for the resolving the recall issue, I was told, "It's a different issue than the recall." Then I was told they'd need to remove the seat to get to the wires/connectors for the airbag and that cost would be $519.90 BYPASS THE AIR BAG CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT BY SOILDERING THE 4 PIN CONNECTOR TOGETHER. INTERBNAL FAULT IN CONNECTOR CASUING HIGH RESISTANCE. Also add $44 Shop Charge. The "free recall repair" cost us $957.46 (I did ask for the military discount since this was totally unexpected and immersed with the planned costs for the holidays). Dashboard crack in 2024, that started on passenger side near air vent, expanded recently causing the "passenger air bag off" alert to light up and stay on continually. If I were to have a passenger at the time of an accident, the air bag might not deploy, which would be a safety issue. This could possibly lead to a liability issue, so I have not had any passengers but that isn't sustainable, so I
... contacted the dealer. I was told that the previous recall for cracked dashboards ended in 2017 and that it was cosmetic only, not safety related, but that the part was available for $964.50, not including labor, tax, etc. I feel that a safety related recall should be issued, the previously known dash cracking problem didn't end when their recall did, the fact that my vehicle is primarily garaged preserved the interior integrity, I don't believe I should be penalized for my dash not cracking 8 years earlier. Thank you for your consideration.Read more

NHTSA Complaint Narrative (Copy & Paste) CRITICAL SAFETY DEFECT: SALE OF VEHICLE WITH DISABLED AIRBAGS Incident: 10/24/2025 | Dealer: Braman Cadillac (Miami, FL) | VIN: [XXX] Braman Cadillac sold me this 2024 Tesla Model 3 representing it as "clean/no accidents." In reality, they released a vehicle with a disabled airbag system resulting from a crash that occurred in their inventory. 1. DISABLE
... D RESTRAINT SYSTEM (RCM): Tesla Service Mode diagnostics confirm the Restraint Control Module (RCM) is in "Post Replacement" state, displaying the prompt: "Post Replacement Tasks - Routine requires Service Mode Plus authentication." This proves the airbag computer was replaced following a crash/electrical trauma but NEVER calibrated. Consequently, the SRS is disabled and will not deploy. The vehicle explicitly warns: "The Safety Restraint System may not perform as designed." The dealer released a non-roadworthy vehicle. 2. EVIDENCE OF DEALER KNOWLEDGE: Internal logs show critical crash fault codes (VCFRONT_a059 & RCM2_a003) logged on Oct 15, 2025. Dealer records confirm the car was in their exclusive inventory on this date (listed since Sept 23). These faults were active 9 days before sale. The dealer ignored active safety warnings to facilitate the transaction. 3. CONCEALED DAMAGE: Inspection by Classic Collision confirmed hidden structural damage requiring $9,676.69 in repairs, consistent with the uncalibrated module. CONCLUSION: Braman Cadillac knowingly sold a vehicle with a lethal safety defect. I demand an investigation into their release of vehicles with uncalibrated safety modules. Upon a low speed curb strike, predominantly striking the rear driver tire and partially the front driver tire, during a slide under 30mph, the curtain airbags deployed in the vehicle. Reading about this online, it appears others driving this type of vehicle have had similar reports of low speed tire strikes and airbags deploying. The airbags were more of a risk than the curb strike itself. With ch
... ildren in approved car seats in the rear, this was of course incredibly frightening. It appears VW is aware of the low sensitivity of their sensors that deploy this system, for which this sensor has been under recall in the past. Whether my sensor was repaired correctly is not understood. There is no other vehicle damage. The vehicle has been delivered to the VW dealer for inspection. It would be ideal for the NHTSA to look into whether the VW Atlas's curtain airbag deployment at low speed tire strikes meets the threshold for safety standards of deploying airbags. As there is a previous history for airbag issues with VW, it's not unrealistic this was a fault with the car and not the driver.Read more

My 2016 Kia Sedona is affected by Safety Recall SC175 (Front Passenger Seat Occupant Detection System Wiring Harness), documented here: [XXX] . Kia and the servicing dealer, Rick Case Kia, report to NHTSA that this recall was completed in 2019. However, the defect described in SC175 is still present and easily reproducible. The dealer continues to insist the repair was completed, but the symptoms
... match the recall description exactly and the issue now poses a clear safety risk to the front passenger. I have repeatedly informed Rick Case Kia that the recall was not performed correctly or was never performed at all. Despite this, the dealer refuses to inspect or correct the issue and Kia Corporate refuses further action based solely on the dealer’s claim. This has made it impossible for me to obtain the required recall remedy. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer multiple times between 2019 and before the vehicle reached 10 years of age for other safety recalls. If SC175 had truly been completed, the issue should not be present. If it had NOT been completed, the dealer should have been notified in their system during those visits. This suggests that misrepresentation or incorrect reporting may have occurred. Because Kia Corporate relies entirely on the dealer’s incorrect reporting, I cannot obtain the required repair from any Kia dealer, and the safety defect remains unresolved. I am requesting NHTSA review this case as a potential recall-completion misrepresentation that is preventing me from receiving the mandated safety repair. I am filing a safety complaint regarding my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, VIN [XXX] , manufactured by JEEP, leased through Stellantis. This guidance is contradictory and makes normal use of the vehicle unsafe and impractical. I must drive to work and park near other vehicles and buildings, which the manufacturer says not to do. In addition, the vehicle also has an unresolved airbag recall with no fix available. The vehicle is leased, yet I have been told I cannot exchange the vehicle or exit the lease without paying the full remaining term, even though the vehicle cannot be safely used as intended and has no available remedy. When my son got a car last December, we bought him a 2024 Volvo s60, primarily for the safety features. Since we have had the vehicle, Volvo has had a lot of issues with their infotainment system. But sometimes it was the backup camera too and once the he
... at. He recently had a car accident. He is okay (of course shaken up) but it was a bad situation. A van had dropped a lot of items. Plumbing and metal shelving. There was a pick up who was trying to avoid it. My son tried to avoid the pick up unsuccessfully but partially because his wheels landed on metal shelving and he was sliding on the road. The accident report captured this. His car was totaled. The purpose of this email is that the car was totaled, as even though he was braking as hard as he could, his tire was sliding on that shelving so he did have quite a hard impact. Not one safety feature worked on this vehicle, not the SOS, not the forward, not the airbags. My intuition is telling me it's all related to these many issues with the electronics in this car (recharge models have had this issue and been recalled). Before they dispose of the vehicle I wanted to consult with an attorney to see if we have any recourse with Volvo, especially because safety is why we bought the car. It is currently at the body shop. The infotainment has had an issue forever.Read more
