Side airbag deployed for no reason while driving straight at the speed limit of 75 mph. The local VW dealer determined the side impact sensor is defective. This is a very interesting situation because a fail safe exists in these systems in that the supplemental restraint control module in the center of the car must simultaneously "see" a side impact g force in order to deploy the side air bag. In

SUPPLEMENT TO PREVIOUS COMPLAINT (VIN: ...XXX): CRITICAL NEW EVIDENCE OF MULTI-POINT SAFETY FAILURE. On Dec 10, 2025, Tesla Service performed a full diagnostic and repair of the airbag safety system. In addition to the previously reported "damaged wires" in the passenger seat (OCS Module), the technician ALSO had to replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) to resolve the active safety f

This confirms widespread physical/electrical trauma to the vehicle's Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) that was concealed at the time of sale. The dealer released a vehicle with compromised safety hardware in both the driver and passenger zones. I have attached the official Tesla Invoice confirming these replacements. Component: Air Bags / Occupant Classification System (OCS) Problem Description: The Occupant Classification System (OCS) in my 2016 Infiniti QX60 is malfunctioning. The passenger airbag indicator light flickers on and off even when the passenger seat is empty. When an adult passenger is seated properly with the seatbelt fastened, the system frequently fails to detect the occupant and does not con
... sistently indicate that the passenger airbag is active. The issue occurs intermittently and unpredictably, both while driving and shortly after vehicle startup. Dealer Repair Attempts: I have brought the vehicle to the Infiniti dealership multiple times for this issue. Each visit resulted in a paid service where the dealership “reset” the OCS module and stated the issue was resolved. However, the malfunction returned immediately. On one occasion, the issue reoccurred as soon as I pulled out of the dealership parking lot, at which point I returned the vehicle to service. After that visit, I was told the only solution would be to replace all related components at my expense. Recall Concern: Although my VIN does not currently show an active recall, the 2016 Infiniti QX60 model year is known to have a recall for an OCS airbag defect. My vehicle is exhibiting the exact same symptoms described in the recall. The dealership has refused to perform the repair under recall coverage solely because my VIN is not listed. Safety Risk: This is a serious safety concern. The passenger airbag may fail to deploy when an adult is present, increasing the risk of severe injury or death in the event of a collision. The system cannot be relied upon to function properly. Outcome Requested: I am requesting that this defect be investigated and addressed as a safety-related issue consistent with the known recall affecting this model year.Read more

Incident date: Dec 8, 2025
My car has a severely cracked dashboard which could cause reduced structural integrity and an increased risk of debris and shrapnel being deployed in the event of an accident. The dashboard is a structural component designed to help absorb and distribute some of the forces in a collision. Cracks can compromise this ability to perform this function potentially increasing the force experienced by t
... he occupants and the other parts of the vehicle. It can also cause increased risk of debris and shrapnel. During a collision the cracked dashboard may break apart more easily causing sharp or jagged pieces to become projectiles inside of the cabin these fragments can pose a serious injury risk to occupants. It can also result in impaired airbag deployment. Many vehicles have airbags in the dashboard a severely cracked dashboard could obstruct or improperly deploy airbags for example the airbag may not fully deploy reducing its effectiveness and the dashboard may puncture or otherwise interfere with the airbag as it inflates creating additional safety hazards. Cracks may expose sharp edges or materials under the dashboard which could harm occupants during a collision, especially in areas where passengers may come into contact with the dashboard. A cracked dashboard could also cause a compromised electrical system dashboards house numerous electrical systems, sensors, and controls cracks could indicate underlying damage to these components. In a collision, these systems may fail or behave unpredictably which could further reduce safety features. Cracked dashboards present a significant risk during a collision and should be addressed by the manufacturer promptly to ensure its customer safety.Read more

My airbag light has remained on, uninterrupted, for over about one month now. I expressed my concern that the recalled part obviously failed again, but the dealer indicated that corporate would not allow them to replace it again under the prior recall. I then filed a claim with Porsche NA. After weeks of back and forth with Porsche NA, they denied my claim, despite the fact that a previously recalled part had failed again. Performing some investigation since, I have learned that I am not alone and that the previously recalled Generation 1 seat occupancy sensor mat was replaced with a generation 2 mat, but that those were also failing. In fact, in January 2021 Porsche investigated this matter and did conduct another recall in February of 2021. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, the airbag warning light illuminated. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership in Texas for diagnosis. The technician confirmed that the airbag fault was present before the vehicle was sold to me. According to the diagnostic records, the selling dealer (Kelly Nissan in Oak Lawn, Illinois) had previously scanned the airbag system, identified an airbag fault co
... de, cleared the code without performing the repair, and then proceeded to sell the vehicle. This means the airbag defect existed at the time of sale and was intentionally or negligently undisclosed. The system continues to show a malfunction indicator, and the Clay Cooley Nissan dealership in Richardson, Texas identified the issue as an electrical airbag system failure requiring a repair estimated at $2,304.15. This defect affects the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which may result in: Airbags failing to deploy during a crash Improper deployment Increased risk of injury or death The vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. The selling dealer refuses to authorize repair outside Illinois, leaving me with an unsafe vehicle that cannot be feasibly transported. Nissan Corporate states this is the dealer's responsibility and will not intervene. Given that this defect relates directly to the federally regulated airbag safety system, I am requesting NHTSA’s investigation into whether this represents a broader issue of airbag system defects or improper clearing of airbag fault codes prior to sale by the dealer.Read more
