Context: My wife replaced the driver’s side airbag per the 2019 Toyota Corolla recall at a Columbia, MO dealership. We’ve since moved to North Carolina. The airbag light and maintenance light came on, and we took it to the mechanic close to our new home. They ran a diagnostics report to determine the airbag on the driver’s side needed to be replaced. I have documentation of this report
... with the error code. I got the work done at the mechanic because my wife did not feel comfortable knowingly driving with a faulty vehicle. I tried contacting corporate customer service as well as the dealership that did the original replacement in 2019. I was told that all repairs only have a 12-month warranty. While I understand this is the policy, I do not agree that an airbag replacement should be charged out of pocket after 4 years of replacement. Either the original 2019 replacement was not correctly executed, or the vehicle manufacturer needs to issue another recall. It does not make sense to me that an airbag should last 4 years, and we should have to pay $1,200. In addition to this, the service manager at the Columbia, MO (Joe Machen’s) Toyota was extremely unprofessional. He said that my wife should have drove (with an inoperable airbag) to a Toyota dealership, which came across as unethical in my opinion. I would like to officially request a reimbursement of “good will” from Toyota. I have a work order and a paid receipt to provide any evidence that is required. If this message does not pertain to your role within Toyota, please pass this message along to the appropriate department/individual. I am happy to answer any questions and can be contacted at [XXX] . I sincerely appreciate your attention to this matter. For the already known air bag recall for my vehicle, I have called GM and clearly stated how uncomfortable and unsafe I feel driving my vehicle with such a dangerous malfunction that is meant to save my life, not take it. They told me there was no way they could help, but for me to be patient. I live in a bumpy and windy area, and from other reports, I know can set off the airbags. As for the a
... utomatic braking system, we were driving on the freeway with no vehicles or objects in front or even beside us when the system kicked in with the red light and alarm sound while braking immediately and even had my steering wheel lock up. I was able to regain control a minute later, but we were close to a curve in the road that I may have not been able to turn with my steering wheel locked up, as well as a vehicle behind me having to hit their own brakes and quickly change lanes due to our vehicle suddenly braking. I have been to a dealership for diagnosing but they told me they could find nothing out of ordinary. Given I did not trust these mechanics as they have lied before to get money from us and have missed other problems that were easily diagnosed at another mechanic we have seen. Our small town only has few choices of mechanics or dealerships.Read more

Calls and messages to the service center have also not been responded to. I am driving a vehicle that is unsafe for passengers, and based on the forums I read, I don't think that I'm alone with this issue. You are welcome to inspect my vehicle, and I can provide pictures and video examples. This puts my passenger (weighing 115lbs) at risk every time we drive the vehicle. I notified the service department of the new issue (check engine ) and the need for them to inspect that. The vehicle was due for an oil change and rotation as well. Service department determined that the engine failure resulting in the (check engine light) was due to a defective fuel pump/injection system. Part ordered and an appointment was set. Replacement part was installed on September 12 2023. Literally three days later, after the fuel pump/injection was replaced, another alert appeared (check engine light). September 15, 2023. This particular vehicle has major issues and I am contacting the dealer for a complete buy back and/or replacement vehicle. My safety and the safety of my passengers was at risk from the first minute the restraint system failure signaled. The part was backordered for a long while. I had no other form of transportation. The dealership did not offer a loaner vehicle or to pay for a rental car, nothing. In fact they did not seem concerned at all. Not concerned enough for the service department to place follow up phone calls to me with status updates over the many weeks I waited for the part to arrive. The car obviously has electrical and fuel injection issues straight from the manufacturing floor (which according to reports Buick is aware of). Ref. Edmunds and NHTSA reports. If you look up the GM Recall and the Vin# of my car, you will know that I am writing to you because I received the notice about my 2014 Buick Enclave has a Safety Recall. My name is [XXX] and I am very concerned about all of this. I called my car dealer today after I read the letter, and basically which Im sure you already know that there are no parts available to fix this problem. A problem that
... could mean life or death. In you Important safety recall dated June of 2023 you stipulate this too, "in these vehices, the front-driver airbag inflator may contain supplier manufacturing defect that may result in inflator rupture during deployment. An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants" That would be me, or my family or my grandchildren. So I called my Buick dealer and they were very nice, but they did not know about the paragraph that I stipulated above, because they said it doesnt say that. Well it does and they seemed surprise about this. I am concerned this could kill me or someone I love and you dont have any parts, or you dont know when anything will be done to fix it, or what I should do. But you know that it could kill me or some one in my family. What kinda of answer is that? I am afraid to drive my car, what am I suppose to do about that. How do I get to work, how do I live, how do I get to go see my grandkids or go to the doctor, or anything for that matter. You said it yourself "may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants" So what are we suppose to do, there are all these people that are in the same boat as me. Do you drive your car and get a chance to be killed or do you not and then how are we suppose to go on with our lives. You need to address this matter NOW before some one does die. Then what will you do? It will be the biggest law suit ever. I need to hear from you and soon.
