Amid sliding briefly on ice, the driver side front and rear curtain airbags of my 2013 Honda Civic deployed. No collision or impact occurred to trigger this and, correspondingly, no external damage to the vehicle was sustained. Post-airbag deployment, despite the unexpected bodily impact, sudden jolt, and visual obstruction caused by the airbags, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and m
... aneuver to a nearby parking lot. Upon visual inspection of the vehicle, I confirmed no evidence of collision. The following day, Honda ran full diagnostics on the vehicle. The dealership indicated tests would reveal certain codes triggered w/ airbag deployment (what caused them to deploy). Inspection results, however, revealed no codes found in the proprietary computer, nor other detectable evidence of any cause. I asked whether a defect was possible and was told this could neither be confirmed nor ruled out. Per the dealer's explanation, only the presence of improper codes could reveal this with absolute certainty. In essence, the only explanation I received was that no explanation could be found. Honda denied my request to put these details in writing. I was given only a vague summary of the damage and a list of costs required for repair, totaling to over $10,000 (invoice attached). Geico said damages caused by airbag deployment are not covered by any policy unless a collision is reported. If deployment occurs w/o collision but other valid causal factor(s) are detected by inspection, damages may be covered under collision; However, if no cause is determined and no collision has occurred, damages are not covered. I am now left with a vehicle that is extremely unsafe to drive, over $10,000 worth of damage that neither insurance nor manufacturer will cover, and a left-side rib injury obtained by airbag impact, w/ associated ER costs. Although I obtained only minor physical injuries from this incident, myself and/or others could have been seriously injured or killed.Read more

The car crashed into the back of the truck in front of it. The crash caused the airbag to go off and either the airbag itself or the area that covers the steering wheel cut my wife’s jaw/throat. She was luck it did not cut her artery or wind pipe she was able to be transported to the hospital and survived.

*From day one of purchase there is a random, frequent loud buzzing/whining through the speakers(with our without the radio on). Dealership had no idea how to fix and Chevrolet said there was no known issue, so no help. *The running lights constantly short out. We continually replace them and they short out again! *We have replaced all four door handles! Cheap chrome plastic is not going to ho
... ld up. These should actually be metal to insure holding up! *The tires seem too big since they rub the fender well if you cut sharply to either side. You can actually hear them rubbing on the well as you cut hard to either side! *The dash cracked about five years after we purchased it. We kept it under our carport and this cracking was unacceptable! I called Chevrolet and they said there was no known issue or recall. We continued to ask our dealership to look for recalls on this. *There was a recall on our passenger side airbag. We tried to get it replaced and were told, no they could not. Takata went bankrupt, so sorry, Chevrolet will not replace air bag for you! *After a few years of not being able to use our front seat due to safety issues Chevrolet would not fix(defective airbag), we decided to save and get the airbag and cracked dash replaced on our own. Unacceptable! Proclaimed recalls should be tended to by manufacturer! *The cruise control just stopped working one day early on, no recall--not surprised:( *The fuel tank is cutting off at the pump as we try to put gas into the tank. This is problematic as the vehicle will not run without fuel! Currently fighting with this and contacting dealership to see if they can help at all. Everyone we know who has a Suburban or Tahoe has these same problems! These are all widespread problems/design flaws. Please look into these issues to make a better product!Read more

I was on [XXX] and turned into [XXX] . I was driving at 25 miles or so. I don't know if my first or second tire flat first but immediately after my airbags at right and left front and back side got deployed and created a little fire and thick black smoke. Unfortunately they didn’t show up for 3 hours. I stayed outside in cold weather for 3 hours. Thankfully Police came over and saw the situation and he was really surprised with defectiveness of my car airbags. so He had to call Tow company that works for Police department to get my car to the nearest Honda services. I called Landmark Honda and told them the situation. Landmark Honda wanted me to bring my car to Landmark Alexandria instead of nearest Honda services in Chantilly. I towed my Truck to Alexandria. I paid for towing although they were supposed to pay. I talked to Honda headquarter in California but they didn't care about what i said. I could die lose my limbs or hurt other people. My 2020 Honda Odyssey started showing SRS problem error on its 4th year of ownership. Since it’s not under warranty after 3 years I spent close to 1k to replace SRS computer module by dealership from where I purchased my car. Same error came back a month later and again I took it to dealer and they said it has loose connection on cable and fix the loose connection. About a month later SRS light
... came back again and then I took it to dealer and he said connection is good but one of the connector is not sending the signal to SRS module. They asked me to replace entire SRS module wiring which will be around 4k which might resolve this problem. I reported this problem to Honda Corporate and waiting for their response. Since it is SRS problem, I am more concern to drive the my car with Kids. If I meet an accident and airbag won’t deploy then it will be risk for me and my family.Read more

I am writing this reporting on the active NHTSA Recall Number 23V334, which includes my vehicle. As per the NHTSA's site, an online complaint can be filed if the manufacturer is unable to remedy this safety recall for the vehicle in a timely manner. The recall was issued on May 10, 2023. Today it is February 2, 2024, and is almost a year since the notice. This amount of time for a safety defect th
... at could result in "injury or death to vehicle occupants" is completely unacceptable. Our family purchased this vehicle in 2015 after the birth of our 2nd child. We chose a Chevrolet Traverse because at the time, it had one of the highest safety ratings for an SUV on the market. This is the number one requirement we have when purchasing a vehicle, and we did so with our growing family in mind. Every single day, I navigate snowy, icy, treacherous roads in Alaska with my three young children - ages 6, 8, and 10, in the vehicle along with their friends . I also suffer from anxiety. The stress and anxiety that this recall has put on my life as it threatens my family on a daily basis is intolerable and needs to be resolved. We have discussed selling the vehicle to purchase something safer as we continue to wait on the resolution, but we will be unable to sell the vehicle to a dealer due to the recall. Additionally, we refuse to sell to another family or driver due to the ethical issues that would arise with this. We also would face a significant financial shortfall by not receiving the necessary return on investment of our purchase due to this defect. I understand that there need to be parts available for the remedy, but given the scope of this issue, all further manufacturing of airbags or focus on other issues should be put on hold until the parts are manufactured to resolve this safety issue. As an oversight body, please put pressure on GM to resolve this issue immediately, and allow families to go back to living their fullest lives without fear of death.Read more

It has been 9 months since I received a letter notifying me of this potentially fatal issue with my car and a repair is still not available. The air bag light came on in April of 2022 indicating that the air bag will not deploy in the event of a car accident. We took the car to the Honda dealership and the mechanic diagnosed it as a bad seat-belt tensioner and confirmed that the part is under warranty by American Honda. The dealership requested the part from American Honda and they have failed to provide the part to the dealership stat
... ing that is is not available. They have given us ETAs for the part but it has never arrived. We requested a rental car to drive while waiting for the part but were denied by both American Honda and the dealership. American Honda's response is that the car just should not be driven. We cannot sell the car while this light in on but need to continue to drive the car for work. The air bag light remains on and still will not deploy if an accident were to occur causing a significant safety risk. We have not involved police or insurance representatives or any other outside parties aside from American Honda and the dealership. We spoke with a representative,at American Honda today who again confirmed that they do not have the part, do not have an ETA on the part and will not pay for a safe vehicle to drive. Considering the amount of time that has elapsed, they are clearly in violation of their warranty.Read more

There is a current recall on my 2020 camry. I was notified by email in December 2023. It is for the passenger side air bag. I do not feel safe driving the car since being made aware of the recall. My battery died multiple times within the first few months, sensors did not work, screen display was off, Toyota said they had to reset the computer software. There was an issue draining the battery. Fast forward to November 2023, I had to buy a new battery. Even though I have had issues with the battery since purchasing the brand new car, I had to pay for the battery out of pocket. Toyota said I just barely missed the warranty. Now once again I have issues with the parking sensors not working and the rear camera display not showing. I get the notification RCD unavailable. Even though my camera is clean and was checked at the dealership. I feel as if I have bought a bad car from the start. And now I do not feel safe driving it as well as being completely frustrated with it. What can I do?Read more

This reports a recurring Safety Restraint System (SRS) airbag warning light issue for no apparent reason other than potentially defective components. Please investigate this! Any issues with the SRS system of a vehicle by default puts the safety of the vehicle's passengers at risk. The SRS airbag warning light first turned on randomly in June 2023 and remained on for a few weeks every time the ca
... r was on or being driven. (I am the second owner of the car, and this happened a year after purchase; I do not know if the original owners also had issues with this SRS warning light.) This SRS warning light turned itself off randomly a few weeks later. I had scheduled with a Hyundai Service Dept. to diagnose the issue for the price of $184.50 but ended up cancelling since the SRS light turned itself off 2 weeks before my appointment. The rough phone estimate by this Hyundai Service Dept. said that depending on if it is a sensor, control module, or something else, it could cost between $500 to $3000 to resolve. I was told that an issue with the SRS would not be investigated/covered by the manufacturer original warranty. (But SRS is a non-maintainable system so should work properly for the lifetime of the vehicle.) The SRS airbag warning light remained off until on Dec. 22, 2023, when it turned on again randomly. It stayed on again (anytime the car was on or being driven) for a few days then turned off randomly again. The SRS airbag warning light turned on again 1/26/24, then turned off on again on 1/29/24. It turned on AGAIN on 1/30/24 and is still on (2/1/24). This recurring SRS light issue indicates an urgent, underlying issue with the SRS system that has occurred randomly, without warning or reason, to my vehicle and to others with this vehicle according to this NHTSA web site. This SRS warning light issue suggests that the SRS system may not be working properly and could case the airbags to deploy incorrectly, or not deploy when needed, which is unacceptable.Read more

Dash showed a problem with the Supplemental Restraint Issue. The car was taken to our local Honda dealer. After three days of diagnosis, trial and error and almost a $1500 charge the driver’s side Airbag was found to be the problem and replaced. This car had just over 31000 miles. It had been garaged since purchased and was never in an accident. Why should an Airbag such as above need to be r

Would this safety feature have deployed. I know there have been recalls of many such safety devices in the past and I believe there may have been a problem with Honda Airbags previously.
