Airbag light came on and has since went off. The left buttons on the steering wheel intermittingly work both leading to a clockspring issue. There is a recall for 2016 F250 clockspring due to airbag issue and the 2016 Expedition uses the same part number clockspring. I think this recall should add other Ford models that use the exact same defective part in question.

The car was involved in a fatal crash where the side impact airbag (side of fatality) failed to deploy and the EDR failed to fully comply with Part 563 requirements. All other airbags and rollover system deployed but the EDR recorded only the deployment of the side impact airbag on the driver side. The EDR included 6 events and some of them have severity less than the threshold required by the r
... egulation. There was a criminal investigation and trial as a result of the fatality and the state witnesses explained this failure due to the fact the airbag deployed so fast so the EDR could not record it. I believe the EDR failed to record the crash event correctly and also failed to deploy the side impact airbag on the passenger side, This is evident from the fact that there are 4 other airbags and a rollover protection system that were deployed and the EDR, contrary to Part 563, failed to record them.Read more

My family and I have been VW owners for over 60 years. Unfortunately, the 2006 VW Passat has been layered with defects, negligent manufacturing issues, faulty wiring, electrical problems, computer glitches, to mention a few. There have been many recalls including an official recall by the NHTSA, for steering linkage problems and tie rod assembly which caused a loss of steering, crashes and deaths.
... Over 292 complaints are filed with Consumer Affairs, over 561 defects reported, and thousands of horror stories like mine about this car. It's considered a lemon by many car professionals. Many dealerships in the USA offered to inspect, and replace the electronic steering column lock free of charge and address any other concerns, which should be standard, reasonable behavior for all VW dealerships, mandated by this Federal agency. Shortly after this car almost killed me in 2013, VW put me through countless stressful hours of calls, emails and the like and still refused to be fully accountable. Shortly after my almost end of life, the notorious VW Emissions Scandal spoke volumes. VW was well aware of their defects including the electrical system in the steering column/immobilizer, (the system won’t recognize the key; a module in the car that connects the key and starts the engine is defective). In many cases, the entire steering column is defective and has to be completely replaced because the car’s pistons, internal combustion and engine are all subpar. Even the Sunroof and drains are defective and every time it rains, there is a flood in my car which has caused life threatening mold and mildew. I am respectfully asking for your help in having VW provide me, a near [XXX] woman, a safe, reliable, car without another defective sunroof and without defective water drains. It can be used as long as it's reliable and without deadly mold and mildew. I have photos. Thank you. ... side airbag works correctly. Nissan won't cover it because those aren't the current parts to fix it. I don't understand, the dealership tried twice to fix the problem with the standard parts that are allotted in the recall and it didn't work, now it needs to be fixed properly. I have a Nissan with a safety recall issue that Nissan refuses to cover the cost to fix it. It is very unsafe, dangerous and life threatening to have a vehicle with no working driver side airbag. We bought this car for our 16 year old son, only to have a severe safety violation in the car that won't get fix properly by the manufacturer. What if he is in a front on collision and the airbag doesn't work? Heaven forbid he get critically injured or even die from it. What does it take for Nissan to do the right thing and properly fix the recall. In the meantime our son isn't allowed to drive his new car much and not far from the house. How would they feel if it were their teenager in a car with no driver side airbag and the company with a recall refused to fix it correctly. I guess our son's life doesn't matter to anyone but us. All we want is for the recall to be fixed correctly ( which we knew nothing about) which is correctly working airbags. How would you feel?
