The vehicle has been giving off an Airbag error warning when in operation. After taking the vehicle in to a VW dealership, they checked for any active recalls on the vehicle and told me that there were no recalls found for my make, model, and year vehicle and wanted to charge $200 just for them to check and see if there was a problem with the airbags. After doing my own check, I realized that the
... error message occurred because it was not registering that I had a passenger in the front passenger seat. The airbag in this location does not activate when someone is in the passenger seat. I've checked the NHTSA records to see that a recall was issued on this problem within the last 12 months and notification letters went out in March of 2024. The referenced vehicle is used and was purchased in January 2024 and should have been included in the recall register.Read more

Passenger restraint system malfunction. I took it to the dealership and was told it will cost $3785.91 to replace the passenger seat mat. Looking online, this problem appears to be widespread with many individual car owners complaining of the issue. Given that this is a life safety system and its apparent prevalence, it seems appropriate to consider this for a mandatory recall.

We received a "important safety recall" notification letter from GMC in June 2023, informing us that there is a safety issue with the driver's side airbag. The recall reference number is N232404980. This recall calls out a potential hazard for metal fragments to pass through the airbag, which may result in injury or death. As of today, May 29, 2024, it has been almost a full year since we have
... received this notification, and there is still no resolution. I have called GMC directly, and was advised to "keep checking until a repair solution is available". Given that the cause of the recall can result in injury or death, a timeline of a year (or longer) to repair this issue is completely unacceptable. Someone needs to hold GMC accountable, and pressure them to make the repair for this recall available immediately. It is unacceptable that drivers of the impacted vehicles are expected to drive with a potentially dangerous (or fatal) recall, with no timeline of resolution. I expect the NHTSA to hold GMC accountable, and demand an immediate resolution to all vehicles impacted by recall #N232404980.Read more

My safety and the safety of others is being put at risk by the following: Multiple significant safety issues for driver & passengers from dashb1) visibility issues from extreme glare onto windshield result in blinding and/or distractiing driver, 2) Integrity of dashboard material is compromised (spongy, sticky, breaking down & worse with heat in normal conditions of use) 3) the dashboard is impaired where airbag would deploy from, 4) exposure to chemical fumes and particles from dashboard materials continues as it breaks down. I had Toyota Dealership Service Manager to view & inspect this dashboard in person on [XXX]. The service manager sat in driver seat and observed problem with extreme glare, touch to confirm stickiness, and I pointed to example of drips of melting dashboard, small pieces chipped & eroded from dashboard. The service manager also confirmed the passenger airbag does deploy from the dashboard (when asked). The toyota service manager then checked for recall or service program related to this issue. A customer service program would have replaced this for free - but showed as expired. I was then provided an estimate for dashboard replacement of $3128.
