My husband and I got this vehicle from a used dealership, which they did not tell my husband it had a recall on it before we got it or we never would have gotten it, on March 2,2024. I found out about the driver side airbag recall on March 21, 2024. I called GM dealership about the recall the same day I found out about it, and they ordered the part and told me they would call when the part came in
... . They called me back and we made the appointment to get the recall fixed on April 11,2024. On April 11,2024 I took our vehicle up to the gm dealership and got told that my vehicle recall wasn’t available yet, the recall was released for my vehicle in May of 2023. The lady that told me the recall wasn’t available yet said to call back on May 10, 2024. When I did they told me it still wasn’t available for our vehicle. I double checked the website on June 10, 2024, and it said there was no remedy available. Due to the driver side airbag being recalled and a big safety concern and I’ve got multiple children that ride in the vehicle as well and do NOT have another vehicle that will fit our whole family in it, I don’t really want to drive it around so nobody gets seriously injured if we were to get in a wreck, and I don’t want to put anyone else in danger by driving it around. I feel like it’s not being taken care of in a timely manner and the only reason I say that is because of the type of recall it has. I feel like the dealership doesn’t care about the safety of their customers. The dealership I took it to the people there were nice about everything so there wasn’t any issues there, it’s purely the fact that they don’t seem to know when the recall will be available, and don’t seem to be in any hurry either.Read more

Clock Spring in steering wheel is broken. Driver Airbag is non-functional, as are the controls on the steering wheel. No Driver air bag is a huge safety issue! We immediately "scheduled" an appointment to have this issue repaired. At the appointment, a VW dealer (VW Castle Downers Grove IL) confirmed the issue and noted that this was the subject of a recall (15V483000) with an ongoing & perpe
... tual duty to repair. Despite the recall, the dealer does not have the parts, nor can they provide a date when they might be available (they are "backordered"). We checked with another dealer, and this seems to be a common problem. Also, we did a thorough search online to assess the situation with other drivers/vehicles - this is a common issue! Someone (either the dealer or VW) is dragging their feet on this mandatory, potentially life-threatening issue & repair. When will the NHTSA kick VW (or the dealer) in the [XXX]? The car issued me a "front left safety restraint system fault" saying service is required. The code it flashed was RCM_a021. I am able to get the code to go away by adjusting the seat, however, if i shift my weight or i hit a bump in the road, the warning will appear once again. This leads me to believe that there is a component in the seat that is defective. I took vehicle to the Tesla servi
... ce center where they found a "broken wire in the pretensioner connector" and they replaced the wiring harness. Upon doing investigation it appears that there are multiple components that are used to determine the firing intensity of the airbags should they go off. If either are damaged the airbags will not fire correctly. Some of these components can be easily damaged due to the seats constant back/forth motion if the easy entry mode is enabled on the car. As the car was outside the warranty period, Tesla refused to cover the costs for repair even though there was a TSB (technical service bulletin) already out on this same issue (reference SB-21-17-005). Total cost for repair including parts, labor and tax was $631.10.Read more

Airbag warning light continuously on, a 2018 recall that was repaired by KIA dealership and seemingly recurring.
Incident date: Jun 7, 2024
The passenger airbag light started coming on and going off intermittently. After several weeks of this, it was on every time the car is driven. Testing by an ASE certified mechanic revealed that the permanent light results in no front seat airbags. The failed part is the seat presence sensor. The part is - and hasn't been for quite a while - manufactured by GM. Aftermarket parts are costly and the
... installation cost is in the hundreds of dollars. Research indicates that this is a well-known and long reported issue. Why not a recall years ago? Other than brakes and steering, could there be any more unsafe components than those affecting airbags? The only remedy other than continuously replacing the faulty part, is a bypass module. If it functions correctly, the airbag will deploy regardless of passenger weight. This puts any child or underweight rider in danger. And, of course, considering the expense, many owners will do nothing with possibly grave consequences. I think you "dropped the ball" big time on this one!Read more
