On March 6, I was on South bound on Rt 29 in Culpeper County VA at the posted speed limit of 55mph when I hit a debris item on the road. I do not know what it was but it impacted the front skid plate and seems to be no other damage from the impact. There was no contact with the bumper, wheels or otherwise. There was no sudden change in speed or loss of control at all. The most dangerous result
... of this was the deployment of all the airbags (except passenger front airbag, there were no passengers). A police report was filed with Culpeper County Sheriff (case# 2603-0033) and my insurance agency (USAA claim # 016632631-800). The shop where the vehicle was towed (Ace Collision in Madison, VA) expressed surprise at the total deployment of the air bags given the scenario. I purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe on March 8, 2026, in [XXX] . After the sale, I discovered that the vehicle has serious undisclosed safety defects, including evidence that the airbag (Supplemental Restraint System) had previously deployed and was not properly repaired or restored to working condition, and were actually cut and removed from the vehicle and glued and covered up. This defect was no
... t disclosed prior to purchase and represents a significant safety hazard. It is available for inspection. This put my safety and others at risk because if I had not noticed that the airbag system was not working and was removed and if I had been in a wreck who knows the injuries that me or somebody else could have sustained. The problem has not been confirmed or reproduced by anybody other than me I have physical documentation pictures and diagnostic reports showing the issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by police manufacturer or insurance as of yet but will be completed in the very near future. There was an airbag warning light on on the dash of the vehicle when I purchased it my assumption that it was just an error or a warning since I knew that the vehicle had been in a minor incident but I would’ve never thought that all of the airbags would’ve been cut out and hidden in the vehicle. Through my own investigation, I also located what appears to be the seller’s Facebook Marketplace account, where he has dozens of vehicles listed under a personal profile. This suggests he may be operating as an unlicensed vehicle dealer (curbstoning) and potentially selling multiple vehicles with undisclosed defects. I have attempted to resolve this matter directly by sending a formal demand letter and allowing time for response, but the seller has failed to respond or offer any resolution and has ceased communication. I have documentation and evidence including photos, videos, messages, and screenshots of vehicle listings that support these claims. My 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan experienced a failure of the airbag control module caused by water intrusion through the HVAC access area and failed seam seal tape at the cowl support. The dealership confirmed that water leaked through a factory seam, accumulated at the airbag module, and caused the module to fail. The airbag warning light is illuminated, and the system is inoperable. This failure matc
... hes the same defect pattern covered under Volkswagen’s recall campaigns for the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport (water intrusion leading to airbag control module failure), but my VIN is not included. The root cause and safety implications are identical: water entering through a body seam/HVAC area and compromising the airbag system. This is a safety‑critical issue that disables the airbags and creates a risk of injury in a crash. I am requesting NHTSA review this defect for potential recall expansion. Dealership Findings: • Water present at airbag control module • Water leaking through HVAC access hole • Failed seam seal tape at cowl support • Water accumulation damaging the airbag module • Cowl trim cracked and repaired • Recommended replacement of airbag control module and seam sealing tape • Estimated repair cost: $1,377 + tax Safety Concern: Airbag system is disabled due to water intrusion from a factory seam. This creates a risk of injury or death in the event of a collision.Read more

While driving under normal road conditions at approximately 35mph, the side airbags in the vehicle deployed unexpectedly without any collision, impact, or apparent external cause. There were no warning lights, alerts, or prior indications of any system malfunction before the deployment. The sudden airbag deployment startled the driver and created an immediate safety risk, including potential loss
... of vehicle control and risk of injury to occupants. The vehicle had not struck anything, and there were no road hazards or events that would reasonably trigger airbag deployment. The vehicle has since been inspected by insurance representatives and a dealership, and repair estimates have been completed. At this time, the cause of the deployment remains UNKNOWN. This incident raises serious concerns about a potential defect in the airbag system or related sensors, as the airbags deployed without a triggering event.Read more

I am the owner of a 2025 Hyundai Palisade SEL Premium, purchased in April 2025, currently at approximately 19,000 miles. I am writing to formally report two open safety recalls on this vehicle for which no remedy is currently available: 1. THIRD-ROW SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG RECALL: Affecting approximately 568,576 Hyundai Palisade vehicles (model years 2020–2025). The third-row side curtain airbags
... may not deploy correctly during a rollover, failing to prevent passenger ejection. This defect is a documented violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 226. As of the date of this complaint, Hyundai has not developed a fix. Owner notification letters are expected in late March 2026. In the interim, owners have been advised to avoid using the third row. 2. SEAT BELT RECALL: A separate seat belt recall is also open on this vehicle. I ordered the parts for this repair months ago and am still waiting. No repair has been completed to date. As a result, I am driving a brand-new vehicle with two unresolved safety defects and no timeline for repair on either. Because I have children who regularly occupy the third row, I am being forced to either expose them to a known safety risk or stop using the vehicle as intended. I am formally requesting that NHTSA: - Investigate the urgency of Hyundai's timeline for developing a remedy - Review whether Hyundai's interim guidance to owners is adequate given the severity of the FMVSS 226 violation - Consider whether a 'do not use third row' advisory should be formally and officially issued to all affected owners I purchased this vehicle in good faith as a family SUV. The inability to safely use the third row renders it unfit for its intended purpose. I urge NHTSA to apply pressure on Hyundai to expedite a remedy. Incident date: Jan 1, 2026
In 2026, a 2020 BMW X2 was involved in a 40-50 mph, 60-80 degree driver-side impact. The vehicle rotated 40-80 degrees to the right and struck a curb with enough force to shear both front axles and cause multiple tire explosions. Despite this catastrophic structural failure and extreme G-forces, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) failed completely: no front, side, or curtain airbags deployed,
... and seat belt pretensioners remained inactive. In contrast, all three front airbags deployed in the striking vehicle. An independent Bosch CDR download of the Airbag Control Module (ACM) confirms "Event(s) recovered: None." This indicates a total failure of the sensing algorithm to "wake up" or acknowledge a catastrophic collision, even though the vehicle was a total loss. This failure mode mirrors NHTSA Recall 20V-283 for defective rollover/lateral sensors. The vehicle was manufactured in May 2020, immediately following the COVID-19 production restart, which was a high-risk window for supply chain irregularities, suggesting the use of defective pre-shutdown sensor inventory not currently captured by the recall VIN range. The total failure of the safety system resulted in unmitigated rotational trauma, causing a traumatic brain injury (TBI) confirmed by DTI MRI showing white-matter lesions and hemorrhage, as well as multilevel spinal stenosis and disc herniations requiring surgical intervention. Loss of lordosis in neck and back. These injuries are permanent and life-altering. Crash severity is further corroborated by external telemetry: a telematics smartphone app and an iPhone both registered the high-G impact and deceleration forces that the vehicle's internal safety module ignored. The vehicle is preserved for inspection. There were no warning lamps or system messages prior to the incident. Crash was detected by iPhone that measured impact force based on G-force. The insurance app on a separate Android phone also detected the crash based on the sudden deceleration.Read more

I hit a deer at 65 mph, causing significant damage to my vehicle, $7,300+ to the front end. Component: Electrical System / Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist / Speedometer Incident Summary: I am reporting a catastrophic and uncorrected safety defect in my 2021 Kia Sorento (VIN: [XXX] ). Pre-Accident Attempts: Before April 2024, I repeatedly sought diagnosis for instrument cluster 'glitches.' The Kia dealer misdiagnosed this as a battery failure, charging me out-of-pocket for a repl
... acement that did not resolve the issue. Collision (April 22, 2024): While driving, the instrument cluster suffered a total system crash into 'Factory Mode,' losing all telemetry. Simultaneously, the vehicle's Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) failed to engage. Despite the vehicle being equipped with automatic emergency braking designed to detect and mitigate collisions, the system provided no warning and no autonomous braking prior to striking a deer. Post-Accident Failures: Following the crash, Geico Insurance funded a wiring harness replacement at a Kia facility (backed by a Geico Lifetime Warranty). However, the glitches and 'Factory Mode' errors have returned, proving the vehicle's core safety systems remain compromised. Safety Risk: This vehicle is non-compliant with FMVSS 101 and 127. The failure of both the speedometer and the autonomous emergency braking creates an extreme risk of further injury or death. Kia Corporate has failed to address this documented accident history. On March 13, 2026, I was operating my 2015 Hyundai Tucson when the steering locked up, causing me to crash into a tree head-on. In the course of this head-on crash, my airbags failed to deploy. My car had a prior repair for a front end collision in a body shop and a replacement of the engine in a Hyundai dealership prior to the accident. My car is currently in a tow yard. There has been no inspection of my car by the manufacturer. I have since discovered that there are a number of complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ("NHTSA") from other Hyundai Tucson owners for the model years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2013, 2019, and 2023 complaining of the same defect in their Hyundai Tucsons – the failure of the airbags to deploy in serious car accidents. However, post-accident diagnostic information reported by the auto body repair shop indicates that the vehicle’s computer system recorded the airbags as having deployed. This discrepancy raises serious safety concerns, as the system appears to have registered a deployment event that did not physically occur. This could indicate a malfunction in the airbag control module, sensors, wiring, or software. A failure of this kind prevented the proper airbag deployment in a crash where it was needed, posing a significant risk to my safety. To my knowledge, the airbag system had no prior warnings or indicators of malfunction before the accident. Directly following the accident an error appeared on the screen behind the steering wheel stating "Airbag System (SRS) Problem." The vehicle is currently at the body shop and available for inspection.Read more

On oct. 26, 2025, I was in a bad car accident. I was coming home and came to a stop on Spring Street. In Marion. MA before entering Rte 6 . I looked both ways and the rte was clear. I looked again both ways and still was clear, so I moved my 2025 Bronco Badlands onto the Rte 6 and within seconds I was hit very hard on the front left quarter. My SUV spun around at least 270º and I was immediately
... taken to the ER nearby (Tobey Hospital) for Brain and neck Studies. No airbags deployed. I have photos of the vehicle showing my damage. The driver of the other car must have been speeding as the hit was huge. I was the sole person in my car. The Marion PD Officer who was in charge of this accident changed the story to say "I looked both ways, saw a car coming and I moved forward" into Rte 6 to get home around the corner. I had injuries all over my body and brain with concussion/mild TBI. There were no witnesses and the building near the scene of the MVA had a professional camera over their front door. They would not let me see the video. They did let the other driver see the video The angle of this cam was changed from straight across the street looking at the scene directly. I had no way of knowing what happened and I have spent about a half a year getting therapy at three different physical therapy sites/hospital. I asked the Police to see if I could ask the State Police if they would do a Collision Analysis and Reconstruction so I could know what happened as I was labeled At Fault which I understood if the other driver was driving normally and safely. I was told that if no one is seriously hurt or dead then they would do it. I lost my memory and am still getting visual changes and severe headaches. The series of Radiologic images show that I had lots of Damage. I am a XXX Physician and I know I was hit by surprise and never saw the other car because of the angles of the road. I told photos and have images of the scene and of my car and the other carRead more

While driving at 25 miles an hour on a smooth curving road out of a housing area my wife who was driving and my grand daughter in the front passenger seat heard a loud boom that sounded like somthing hit the roof. My grand daughter looked into the back passenger area and said she saw a large buldge in the headliner near the back window on the drivers side. My wife continued driving saftly to the n
... earest parking lot and parked the vehicle, she got out and inspected the roof and found no dammage of any kind. she opened the back window tail gate and saw a large fist size buldge in the headliner near the open area on the drivers side. She had no idea what happened. There were no waring lights or indicators that indicated a problem and she drove home and showed it to me. When I saw it I thought it was a rear window or curtian air bag that tried to deploy but did not break through the headlinner. I have called the dealer and scheduled an appointment to check it out on thur March 26 at 09:00 2026. I verified that there are no indicators or warning lights that indicate a problem. The service department said it should be safe to drive until then.Read more

I was a front seat passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and was properly wearing my seatbelt at the time of the incident. The vehicle struck a deer, and during the collision, the passenger seatbelt failed to properly restrain me. I was thrown forward and struck the windshield. The seatbelt did not appear to lock or tighten as expected during impact. It is unknown whether the seatbelt pret
... ensioner or airbag system activated properly. This created a serious safety risk, as the seatbelt did not perform its intended function of restraining the occupant during a crash. The vehicle was declared a total loss following the incident and is no longer available for inspection. The incident was documented through insurance and/or police reports. There were no known warning lights or prior indications of a problem with the seatbelt system before the crash. This failure resulted in occupant injury risk due to lack of proper restraint during the collision.Read more

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety issue involving the airbag system in my vehicle. The airbag warning light has illuminated on the dashboard, and I also received a notification indicating that the airbag system may not function properly in the event of a crash. This creates a significant safety risk, as the airbags may fail to deploy when needed. I contacted an authorized
... Nissan dealership regarding this issue. The dealership informed me that they have received similar complaints from multiple vehicles of the same generation as mine. However, they advised me to wait for a potential recall rather than proceed with immediate diagnostic and repair, stating that repairs at this time would be very expensive despite the vehicle being only three years old. Given the critical safety function of airbags, this situation is extremely concerning. A potential failure of the airbag system could result in serious injury or death in the event of an accident. I am requesting that this issue be investigated promptly to determine whether a defect exists that warrants a safety recall. It appears this may be a broader issue affecting multiple vehicles, not an isolated incidentRead more
