Had recall completed for Subaru Forester (WUM-98) where dealer replaced ODS sensor harness in 2020. At the end of 2021 had the SRS light intermittently come on but would then go off for months( front passenger seat). This kept happening intermittently so I brought it to dealership and had it diagnosed in 2023. They suggested replacing the passenger seat ($1200 P&L). Dealer said no water damage to
... seat and cables looked good. Brought it to new dealership in 2024. They said it needed a new ODS sensor harness and replaced it. Since this was replaced, I have not had the SRS light come back on. This is a huge safety risk to front passenger riders. Disappointed that it needed to be replaced so soon after the recall was completed. I did open a case with SOA and they offered goodwill assistance but said the recall warranty only lasted a year.Read more

My issue (which started a week ago) is that the Occupant Detection System (ODS) shows the passenger airbag as OFF and gives an SRS Airbag warning when my spouse is sitting in the passenger seat. When I sit in the passenger seat, the passenger airbag shows ON. But then when the car is driven with no passenger, the system dings until the driver hooks the passenger seatbelt--it thinks the passe
... nger is still there. (I weigh 190; my spouse weighs 125). The consequences are that if the vehicle is involved in a crash and my spouse is in the passenger seat, her airbag will fail to deploy. If anyone is driving without a passenger (after I have been in the passenger seat) the passenger airbag may deploy unnecessarily, should a crash occur. My ODS harness was replaced in Feb., 2020 as part of NTSA Safety Recall ID 19V-701 (Subaru Safety Recall WUM-98) to address faulty ODS issues. (I was not having an issue then). Yesterday my local Subaru dealer recommended "Seat frame bottom replacement and ODS harness DTC B1760, 17067" to address this "ODS Internal Failure." "Part is on back order" so repair is pending.Read more

There has been a recall impacting the safety of driving this vehicle (air bag related) and the dealer and manufacturer have provided no ETA on when there will be a fix for this or when the vehicle will be safe again to transport our children. In our view we should be refunded in full for this vehicle purchase given the ongoing safety issue resulting in us being unable to drive the vehicle.

Passenger air bag light on dash coming on, started off dinging even with no one sitting in the passenger seat. Now the Air bag light stays on constantly. I was told by the Subaru dealership near me that they found a B1650 in the system for occupant detection malfunction. Tested the seat with a human and the scan tool and they found the sensor is not picking anything up. The mechanic told me th
... e seat appeared to be wet, which it was not and has never had water damage. The vehicle is garage kept and has low mileage so minimal exposure. The dealership told me I would have to pay $160 for diagnostic and $1200 before tax to have the seat base replaced. I know there was a recall for the passenger air bag in the past which I did take into the same dealership who says the replaced the defective part. I feel the Subaru company should stand behind their product and correct this issue. I was told they would not guarantee the airbag would work, which is a HUGE safety issue.Read more

At approximately 6:20 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 airbags exploded on a Ford F-150 while it was on the assembly line (Chassis Line 5) at Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Truck Plant (DTP). Two hourly employees, one of them in the driver's seat, were working on the truck at the time and both were sent to an area hospital for treatment. The line was stopped, but only for about 30-40 minutes. By 7 PM
... it was running again until the conclusion of our scheduled ten-hour day, which occurred at 4:30 AM. The truck could not be removed from the line where the explosion had happened, so it had to be run all the way to the end of Chassis Line 7, where it was pushed off. Employees were extremely angry, to put it mildly, and concerned about another occurrence. I reported this to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) on Monday, July 29, 2024. Their complaint number is 2193285.Read more

I have been receiving warning messages on my dashboard regarding Service The Stabilitrak, followed by Traction Control Off message and then vehicle shaking, losing steering power and engine shutting down for over a year. The issue occurs randomly making it difficult to repair. I have had it serviced multiple times by different mechanics and no one has been able to find a solution due to the random
... nature of the issue. This poses a risk to the vehicle occupants safety because when unexpectedly and suddenly losing engine power, steering and traction control all at the same time, it is very difficult to safely merge to the shoulder of a roadway. I have been left stranded in many locations including out of town. Due to my research this is a common issue with this vehicle that can be caused by multiple issues. I also have a recall on my air bag and warnings have appeared on my dashboard that has no remedy yet. The vehicle is not safe to drive and I depend on this SUV to transport my family of 7. I am also still financing, making it difficult to keep up with payments while trying to diagnose/ repair.Read more
