When someone sits in the passenger seat the airbag light/alarm goes on and off. My mechanic said I would need to take it to the dealer. I called dealer and they would need to diagnose if it is the seat belt or the seat weight sensor. Can cost upwards of $900. I just can't afford that. They should recall since I've researched so many complaints on this issue.

These 3 things may be related to each other because they all are connected to the steering wheel. My car can be scheduled for an inspection regarding these safety problems. 1. The Airbag warning light is sometimes on when I drive the car. I'm worried it won't work if I'm in a wreck. 2. The horn doesn't work when I press on the part of the steering wheel that should make it work. It does make a l
... oud sound when I press the panic button on my key fob, but only when the car is turned off. I had to stick my head out of the window and yell at a driver who was getting close to hitting my car in a parking lot. I was parked, and they were backing out of their parking stall. They stopped inches away from my car. 3. The cruise control does not work in the car. I think by using this feature, and maintaining a steady speed, it reduces the chances of accidents. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? See answers #1, 2 and 3 above. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? #1. No. A dealer told me it would cost me $100 to have them check the airbag light. #2. The horn was checked by an independent service center. #3. No. Has it been inspected? #1. This car has been serviced two different times for recalls for the airbag not working correctly. I wonder if the horn and cruise control wires were damaged, or not put back together correctly, when the recall work was being done, while owned by my sister-in-law. #2. No. #3. No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? #1. The warning lamp for the airbag started coming on around August 15, 2024. #2. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023 - when I bought the car. #3. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023.Read more

I was involved in a accident where the airbags did not deploy. I was hit on my driver's side and the vehicle was totaled but the airbags never deployed. I also dealt with electrical issues the entire time I had the vehicle. I believe the electrical issues cause the airbags not to deploy. I did receive the vehicle in that condition.

In February 2024 I became aware of a recall impacting my 2021 Acura TLX. When I called Acura, I was told more information would become available-- I did not hear back. Then In April 2024 I took my vehicle in for servicing and asked my dealership Radley Acura if they could also repair the recall, and the dealership informed me they did not have a part nor an estimate as to when it would become avai
... lable. In response, I called Acura corporate. They too did not have an update. Fast forward to September 18, 2024, I once again called the dealership and was told the same thing I was told earlier this year. No part available and no estimate as to when one will become available. I then called Acura corporate. Corporate Acura contacted the dealership on a threeway and asked the same question, and were told by the dealership they were waiting on corporate to make parts available. The threeway call signaled to me, that corporate Acura has not kept their own network of dealerships adequately informed, much less their customers. I then contacted Acura Customer Care and the representative informed me because my airbag light is not actively on, there is no available part nor an estimate as to when one will become available. Acura and Honda have known about this recall for at least 7 seven months and have failed to keep their consumers apprised of updates (leaving the onus on the vehicle owners) and more frustratingly, cannot manage to provide estimates as to when parts will become available. Given Acura's lack of timeliness in remedying the recall, I kindly request NHTSA look into their mishandling of this longstanding recall. Thank you for your consideration.Read more

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact discovered that the front driver side curtain air bag cover panel was loose and unsecured. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the front driver’s side curtain air bag had partially deployed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been involved in a crash to cause the partial deployment
... of the air bag. Additionally, the front passenger’s seat occupant detection sensor had failed causing the air bag warning light to remain illuminated. In addition, the front driver’s seat rails had malfunctioned, and the seat continued to move while driving the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.Read more

On [XXX], I was traveling back to Colorado from Missouri. The weather conditions turned poor while I was traveling just west of Topeka, Kansas. I lowered my speed to below the speed limit and continued. At one point, the car lost control. At this time, it veered to left and hit hard against median. Smashing the driver side front end substantially. Airbags did not deploy at this time. My he
... ad smashed into the frame to the left of the steering wheel concussing me. (Diagnosed later by an ER Doctor, notes provided in upload) After hitting on the left median, the car then bounced across both lanes of the highway and smashed the concrete median of an overpass. On this second collision the airbags also did not deploy. Before 2023 was over or in the first few days of 2024 I notified Mitsubishi of the issue. They quickly sent me a company called: TM Claims Service, Inc. Out of Pasadena, California. I provided them all of the documentation months ago and have received no communication after they've received it. To my knowledge, there were no previous issues with the airbags or the system that runs them. If I had to estimate the first impact would have been between 50-60mph and the second at least 40-50mph. I could have easily been killed in this situation and I am disappointed in the handling of this. Note the Police Report is not as specific as this and implies one collision, as seen in the photos provided there were two. At this point I do not know where the vehicle is, as it almost been a year and I was trying to work with Mitsubishi on this. I do know if the airbags were inspected following. [XXX] is my correspondence trying to resolve this matter or have it further investigated. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

This complaint relates to safety recall campaigns work regarding my 2003 Acura TL car's SRS (air bags). I took my car to the Acura Service Center in Guaynabo, PR, for recall related repairs at various times during 2022 and 2023. The last time was [XXX]. The PROBLEM is that the Acura center's initial recall-related repair may have been faulty, thus causing the SRS warning light to turn on and stay
... on while I drive the car. The SRS warning came on a few days after the initial Acura service was performed. I was told during the second visit that they just had to reset something in the car's computer to turn off the SRS warning. But the SRS warning light would turn on again a few days after each service visit. The last time I took the car to Acura regarding this problem was on [XXX]. At that time, I requested a thorough diagnosis of the SRS problem. After that visit , the Acura service center sent me a video of the inspection work performed. However, that video and the $144.95 invoice paid, do not show that any SRS diagnosis work was done. They just did a "multi point" car mechanical condition inspection. Regarding the SRS problem, they again turned off the SRS warning light but did not indicate that in the video or the invoice. A few days later, the SRS warning came back on again. I called the national Honda HQ offices in the California, a few months ago. I expressed my frustration with the Acura dealer's failure to resolve this safety problem. They told me that they could not do anything, that I have to go back to the Acura dealer in PR (something that I already did, various times.) This is why I am now submitting this complaint to NHTSA. I present this complaint as a failure of the Acura corporation to satisfactorily perform the SRS safety recall work. They must re-do the work adequately on my Acura TL 2003 automobile. Please help. On Monday, [XXX], I was at the CVS pharmacy drive through when the failure occurred. There was no accident and otherwise no warning before it happened. I attempted to pull out when I noticed the car was drifting and the steering was extremely stiff. I looked down to see that the airbag light and BRAKE light were both on. I coasted into a spot I happened to be aligned with. As I did, I felt the bra
... kes and steering stiffen even more until they were almost 100% seized. (Kind of felt like I was fighting hydraulic fluid.) You guys are welcome to request to inspect the vehicle. I haven't been able to get it inspected, because the Toyota dealership wants me to pay a diagnostic fee to prove the airbag light came on due to the airbag assembly for them to be able to cover the work under the extended warranty for the airbag system. There was no accident. I thankfully didn't have any speed behind me. So, I just barely had enough brakes to stop. This also means that I didn't make an insurance claim or call the police. I did get a tow truck to come out with State Farm roadside assistance, though. The vehicle is at my father's house. We far as how this has affected us, I'm never buying a vehicle with electric steering again. At least with traditional power steering, if there's a failure, you can still steer the vehicle, even if it is difficult. If I had been coming down the winding, 6% grade from Lake Tahoe to Carson when it occurred a few nights ago, I wouldn't have been able to stop or steer; I probably would have went into the ravine. Had we been on the highway or even coming down the hill in Carson from[XXX] when I lost controls, we could both be dead right now. What's worse is I saw a forum where a bunch of people were talking about this happening to them: losing brakes and steering randomly, while actively driving. A few of them were only at 40k miles. In each case, airbags did not deploy. I think the sensor is causing the crashes sporadically. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5Read more

A safety recall was issued for my Lexus RX450h on 12/19/2023. I immediately contacted the dealership from whom I purchase the vehicle from. They informed me that "the part was on back order and would be there in September. On 09/12/2024, my partner took the vehicle in due to a nail in the tire and additionally to schedule for the vehicle to have the safety recall repaired, as they told us th
... ey would have the parts in September. I was already quite upset that they weren't going to have the parts for over 9 months after the safety recall was issued, especially one as important as an airbag, as this could be the difference between someone living or dying in a car accident. When we went back to the dealership, they told my partner that it was "more of a passive recommendation than a recall and that it was going to be updated next month about what is actually supposed to be done." I find this very concerning especially given that it is endangering the life of whomever sits in the passenger side of my vehicle. I don't know who to contact for help the dealership as it has become evident they have no intention of assisting me in this very important safety matter. I'm attaching a photo of the recall that still shows up on my app. I also have Tire & Wheel protection and my tire had a nail in it and it was taken to have a plug put in it and my partner was told that the leak (after pulling out the nail) was plugged. This was Thursday September 12th. However, I'm attaching a photo showing how much air had leaked out of the "plugged tired" Just a note - This is in addition to telling me that things needed to be done that didn't (which I found out from other auto body shop who reviewed the service record) and them lying to me about what services had been recently completed.Read more

On multiple occasions this vehicle has failed to operate, a red hazard light goes on along with many other failure light indicators. I've been stranded where the car does nothing and also experienced the car dying while driving. When the vehicle comes to the airbag indicators come on warning that the airbags are not functioning. I have had to drive the vehicle this way. It's not the first time
... this car has had some type of electrical problems. It previously had an above lighting issue that had to be repaired. It's currently at Volkswagen of Leesburg in Florida, they are trying to figure out what is wrong with this car because they have not seen this type of failure before. It's been there for a week now. After getting stranded, vehicle failures, and electrical failures, I no longer feel safe in this vehicle. Im afraid this vehicle could have an electrical problem or fail while driving leaving me vulnerable to incoming traffic.Read more
